May 17, 2020 10 PM Update

Good evening! Cloudy and 67 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ There is a east breeze at 5 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 50 degrees. The skies will clear Tuesday around 1 am.

For all the commotion earlier it looks like the fire ๐Ÿš’ is out or whatever all the emergency vehicles were reporting too. Maybe I’m a bit paranoid about the plastics plant blowing up but I’m well aware of toxic chemicals they use at SABIC plastics and it sure seemed like a lot of emergency response heading that way. ๐Ÿ‘ฎ Probably safer at home at any rate and who knows their is rain pushing this way shortly.

It’s not like I sat home and eat twinkies all day. ๐Ÿ› I did have a bowl of tuna fish salad for dinner but it probably has a quarter pound of peas and broccoli besides the noodles, mayonnaise and tuna fish. ๐Ÿ  I did hold back on the mayonnaise a bit.

Walking out to Five Rivers this afternoon was nice. ๐Ÿธ Spent several hours studying nature with the binoculars my parents lent me. It’s really fascinating to watch the birds up close and even just study squirrel and chipmunk behavior. Next up I need to get a better knowledge of bird ๐Ÿฆ species – I know the common ones but especially the migratory birds are a bit of a mystery to me. I thought about Black Creek Marsh at dusk but I decided to hold off because it was getting late – after seven o’clock when I started walking home from Five Rivers.

To be honest, my plan for visiting Black Creek Marsh at dusk ๐ŸŒ† wasn’t just for bird watching ๐Ÿฆ or photos ๐Ÿ“ท but in part because I was curious how effective the Permethrin would be in really buggy weather – that is with DEET on the face and arms. People swear by it and while I haven’t found any ticks on me yet and saw a mosquitoes collapse after crawling on my jeans ๐Ÿ‘– I’m not totally convinced of the hype. I did spray my hat yesterday too. Unlike DEET I might also be able to safely apply it to the hammock which would help with the bugs when I’m lying there.

Tonight will be scattered sprinkles before 11pm, then showers likely, mainly after 3am. Cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 53 degrees at 5am. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around June 2nd. Maximum dew point of 50 at 9pm. East wind around 5 mph becoming calm after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies. It got down to 46 degrees. The record low of 29 occurred back in 1981.

Tonight will have a Waining Crescent ๐ŸŒ˜ Moon with 19% illuminated. The darkest hour is at 12:53 am, followed by dawn at 4:59 am, and sun starting to rise at 5:32 am in the east-northeast (62ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 16 seconds. Sunrise is 57 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:13 am with sun in the east-northeast (69ยฐ). Tonight will have 9 hours and 16 minutes of darkness, a decrease of one minute and 57 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have showers likely, mainly before 9am. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 65 degrees at 3pm. Five degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 2nd. Maximum dew point of 50 at 10am. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, which became light rain by afternoon. The high last year was 73 degrees. The record high of 94 was set in 2017. 2.2 inches of snow fell back in 2002.โ„

In four weeks on June 14 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (303ยฐ) at 8:34 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 21 minutes and 28 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly cloudy skies and temperatures between 68 and 53 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 78 and 56 degrees. The record high of 96 degrees was set back in 1892.

So the Gas Up tractor and agricultural festival is canceled for June. ๐Ÿšœ I think that was kind of expected during the pandemic although they’re considering trying to reschedule for mid August. Could be hot then I’m thinking though. Assuming it’s even an option then – they didn’t seem too hopeful. ๐Ÿ˜”

Looking ahead, Strawberry Moon ๐ŸŒ• is in 3 weeks and Fathers Day ๐Ÿ‘จ is in 4 weeks.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿฆ…Only 5 days remain until the start of Memorial Day Weekend!๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

I was doing some reading on the internet and found out that the lower part of Piseco Powley Road is still not fully rebuilt from the October 2019 storm and that the road is closed. โ›บ So I guess that’s out for the weekend. Hopefully soon though they’ll finish the rebuild and open the gates all the way. There are other options but with the nice weather expected and the state campgrounds closed they’ll fill up quickly.

So the original plan of delaying my Memorial Day Weekend for one week is back on the agenda. ๐Ÿ”™ That’s fine, it gives me more time to pack and potentially opens up more options as there will be fewer people camping, especially if I drive up Thursday evening or Friday morning on a non holiday weekend. I never did a spring trip this year with a long weekend so I have the time.

Come June for example, it’s likely Perkins Clearing Road and West River Road and White House in Wells will open. ๐Ÿšง But also I expect I could get that campsite up on Pumpkin Hollow Road when on a non holiday weekend. If it’s hot though it would be nice to be able to walk to water. Betty Brook or Duck Pond are good options in Schoharie County. ๐Ÿ’ญ

East Branch Sacandaga River is fine but it’s noisy ๐Ÿ  and the river isn’t that great for fishing due to the fluctuating water levels. A drought in summer – as was a case a few years ago can leave the river with only a few inches of water. Right now, Cherry Ridge and Finger Lakes National Forest are closed for camping.

Maybe Moose River will be my summer vacation if Piseco Powley Road โ›บ is not rebuilt. While I assume ny mid summer that the Finger Lakes National Forest will reopen for camping if the pools and beaches aren’t open I’m sure if I’d want to do summer vacation there.

Other options include the Allegheny and Green Mountain National Forest. ๐Ÿ—ป The later is open but who knows if the current limits on out of state visitors will be lifted by summer. That Grout Pond beach is fun and some of sites along Forest Road 73 not only have good sun โ˜€ for solar but also cell reception.

May 16, 2020 Night

Good evening! Partly cloudy and 60 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ›… Calm wind. The dew point is 46 degrees. Remarkably mild for this late in the night for mid May but then again it is mid May. Seems like it was March the last time I worked downtown, well actually it was. I haven’t been downtown since probably April when I picked up the work laptop.

It was a a beautiful spring day and I spent as much time as possible outdoors. ๐ŸŒธ Things are still fairly gray in the hill towns on the hills but at the same time many other places are quite green. This afternoon I hiked a Thacher Park ๐ŸŒฟand this evening hiked at the Pine Bush well after dark ๐ŸŒƒ – from 10 pm to 11:30 to be exact.

I would have stayed longer but my knee was aching from the Lyme Disease. ๐Ÿœ I hadn’t taken the pill before I left for the evening. The doxycycline is controlling the symptoms but I’m not convinced it’s killing the Lyme and it may return when the medication runs out on Monday. If necessary I guess I’ll see my doctor again. ๐Ÿ˜ท One good thing about working from home is it makes scheduling easier. Plus I didn’t want to stay too late and be fatigued driving home. ๐Ÿก

It seemed like the Permethrin worked well on my clothes. ๐Ÿ‘š So far no ticks I’ve found and the one black fly that landed on my jeans was crippled before it could bite. Didn’t protect my face from bugs out hiking but my arms were good as I applied Picardin to them. ๐Ÿ˜ต As much as I have pause about bathing myself in chemicals, ticks are insane this year and I am very worried about getting sick from Lyme and not recovering. Already I’m not doing great. I’m not willing to become a shut in just to avoid ticks.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 49 degrees at 5am. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 21st. Calm wind. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies. It got down to 52 degrees. The record low of 30 occurred back in 1959.

Tonight will have a Waining Crescent ๐ŸŒ˜ Moon with 26% illuminated. The darkest hour is at 12:53 am, followed by dawn at 5:00 am, and sun starting to rise at 5:33 am in the east-northeast (63ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 16 seconds. Sunrise is 59 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:13 am with sun in the east-northeast (69ยฐ). Tonight will have 9 hours and 18 minutes of darkness, a decrease of one minute and 59 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be partly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 71 degrees at 3pm. One degree above normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 20th. Maximum dew point of 50 at 10am. Calm wind becoming southeast around 6 mph in the afternoon. Might be a decent day. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 73 degrees. The record high of 92 was set in 2017.

So I’m pretty sure I’m going to delay my Memorial Day Weekend trip for the week after. โ›บ I’ve been on and off but I don’t think the weather will be all that great for Memorial Day Weekend based on the latest forecast and I’m not convinced that the gates north of the potholers will be open this year for Memorial Day Weekend. Been so wet and I know they had to rebuild the road last fall and with the pandemic everything is messed up. I’m thinking I might take Friday and Monday the week after Memorial Day and camp three nights either at the House Pond campsite or maybe up at Powley Place at one of the sandy open sites where I can use the solar to keep my batteries ๐Ÿ”‹ charged and hang my hammock and set up my screen tent ๐ŸŽช for black fly prevention.

I am running low on socks and a few other supplies ๐Ÿช which I will probably order from Walmart online but I’ve found it hard to come up with a $35 order for free shipping ๐Ÿ“ฆ as the online store actually lacks a lot of the products that the regular stores would have in normal times. Walmart isn’t stocking any non food items in their retail outlets so if they sell out, it’s gone.

In four weeks on June 13 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (303ยฐ) at 8:34 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 22 minutes and 2 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly sunny, rain showers and temperatures between 65 and 57 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 77 and 56 degrees. The record high of 94 degrees was set back in 1892.

Looking ahead, Memorial Day Weekend Starts ๐Ÿ•๏ธ is in 1 week, and Summer ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ is in 5 weeks.

May 15, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Yeah, it’s Friday! Could be a stormy one later on as often happens in May. Three weeks to 8:30 PM Sunset ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ. Cloudy and 58 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ There is a south breeze at 8 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 52 degrees. The skies will clear tomorrow around 3 am. That said, it’s nice to sleep with the windows open all night.

I think I will go for a walk this morning ๐Ÿšถ before work. Once my day gets underway I’ll take my wash down to the laundromat and get that done while working on my laptop in my truck. ๐Ÿ‘š Besides washing my clothes, I want order those things that I couldn’t get at Wally World.

Today will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 5pm. Some storms could be severe, with heavy rain. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฉ, with a high of 78 degrees at 4pm. Nine degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around June 14th. Maximum dew point of 60 at 1pm. South wind 8 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. Always the disclaimer. Kind of cloudy summer’s day. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning, which became light rain by afternoon. The high last year was 65 degrees. The record high of 93 was set in 1900.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:53 pm with sun having an altitude of 66.4ยฐ from the due south horizon (-4.4ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.6 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:31 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (291ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (297ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:12 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 14 seconds with dusk around 8:43 pm, which is one minute and 3 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:25 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and thunderstorms ๐ŸŒฉ and temperatures around 71 degrees. The dew point will be 60 degrees. There will be a west-southwest breeze at 14 mph. Today will have 14 hours and 38 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 4 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have showers and possibly a thunderstorm before midnight, then a chance of showers. Some storms could be severe, with heavy rain. ๐ŸŒฉ Low of 54 degrees at 6am. Seven degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around June 6th. Maximum dew point of 61 at 7pm. ๐Ÿ–๏ธ Northwest wind 8 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 48 degrees. The record low of 33 occurred back in 1980.

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 73 degrees at 4pm. Three degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 27th. Maximum dew point of 51 at 6am. Northwest wind around 9 mph. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning, which became light rain by afternoon. The high last year was 69 degrees. The record high of 89 was set in 1991.

Looking ahead to Sunday, a slight chance of showers after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 69. South wind 5 to 7 mph. โ˜ Chance of precipitation is 20%. Maximum dew point of 50 at 4pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 70 degrees.

Tomorrow I think I will go hiking ๐Ÿšถ probably at the back part of Thacher Park. โ›ฒ While the forecast has improved somewhat for Sunday but I’m not thinking it’s going to be a real nice weekend. โ˜ I’m still chewing over Memorial Day Weekend but only if I can get Friday off an leave by dawn to get the best possible campsite. And it depends on the forecast a lot.

As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until 8:30 PM Sunset ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ when the sun will be setting at 8:29 pm with dusk at 9:04 pm. On that day in 2019, we had rain and temperatures between 83 and 55 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 75 degrees. We hit a record high of 97 back in 1925.

Catskill Creek Valley

May 13, 2020 Morning

Good morning! What day is it? Hump Day, of course. The weekend is getting closer but working from home it doesn’t seem like much of a change. Six weeks to Latest Sunset ๐ŸŒ†. Sunny and 36 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒž There is a west breeze at 6 mph. ๐Ÿƒ.

Another sunny but cool day on tap. โ›ฒ I will probably go for my morning walk ๐Ÿšถ before walk and get some fresh air before getting down to work at nine. Maybe if it’s warm enough I’ll sit out back for work. ๐Ÿฆ Birds are chirping this morning but still cool for mid May. But the heat is coming starting in about a week. Going to be hot to round out the month.

Today will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 57 degrees at 3pm. 12 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 13th. Northwest wind 6 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, which became light rain by afternoon. The high last year was 54 degrees. The record high of 86 was set in 2004. There was a dusting of snow in 1953.โ„

I have a list of things ๐Ÿ“ƒ I’d like to get at Walmart today. I’m thinking of going shopping during my lunch break to avoid the crowds. I need a spray bottle for the Permethrin application to my jeans ๐Ÿ‘– as I want to try that out tomorrow maybe after going to the laundromat when there is still sun to dry the clothes outside. I also need to get some socks, frozen fruit for breakfast and snacks, more meat and eggs ๐Ÿณ. Also maybe another pair of Bluetooth headphones. ๐ŸŽง

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:53 pm with sun having an altitude of 65.9ยฐ from the due south horizon (-4.9ยฐ vs. 6/21). Doesn’t get much higher in the sky. A six foot person will cast a 2.7 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:29 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (290ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (297ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:10 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 14 seconds with dusk around 8:41 pm, which is one minute and 4 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:22 pm. At sunset, look for clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 50 degrees. There will be a west-northwest breeze at 10 mph. Today will have 14 hours and 34 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 8 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have patchy frost after 2am. Otherwise, clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 32 degrees at 4am. 14 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 2nd. West wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light and variable after midnight. In 2019, we had light rain in the evening, which became light drizzle by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 40 degrees. The record low of 30 occurred back in 1996.

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. ๐Ÿ˜• Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 72. Maximum dew point of 51 at 8am. Sunday, a chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 67. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Maximum dew point of 49 at 1pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 70 degrees.

The weekend forecast still looks decent Saturday โ˜€ but also not so great for Friday and Sunday. I think my best option is to stay home this weekend. Maybe I will go up north Memorial Day Weekend. If I do that I’ll probably take off a week from Friday and leave before dawn on Friday to ensure that I can get a campsite. Probably Piseco Powley Road โ›บ but maybe not. It depends a lot on the final forecast – saying all of Memorial Day Weekend will be 80 and sunny is uncertain. If I do go up north that will be after spraying my clothes with Permethrin and using the screen house ๐ŸŽช as it’s bound to be buggy.

Looking ahead, there are 6 weeks until Latest Sunset ๐ŸŒ† when the sun will be setting at 8:37 pm with dusk at 9:12 pm. On that day in 2019, we had partly cloudy and temperatures between 85 and 56 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 80 degrees. We hit a record high of 96 back in 1943.

Spring will arrive

May 8, 2020 Night

Good evening! Heavy rain and 40 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜” There is a northwest breeze at 10 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Temperatures will drop below freezing at around 3 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ Just rain so far here but I expect it will be snow by morning. It will melt fairly quickly but I think it’s fair to expect you might see some snow on the grass locally and more out in the hill towns.

A pretty good day. The morning was really beautiful and I was feeling great. ๐Ÿ˜Š Worked outside for a while. As the day progressed it clouded up but was nice to end the day in the woods well except for finding poison ivy on my hand โœ‹ and realizing that I think I forgot to take my doxycycline by evening due to the aches returning. ๐Ÿ’Š

I really got to treat my clothes with permethrin which is cheap and not hard to do if you buy it concentrated and mix it and make sure to let things dry before wearing. I’ll have to do most of my jeans and shirts before hiking and camping. ๐Ÿ‘š ๐Ÿ‘– Lasts like six washes or a month or so. Safety of permethrin is pretty good as long as it’s use is for clothing or controlled in an agricultural setting. ๐Ÿ’€I was studying the material safety sheets. Do keep it away from waterways for sure especially in agricultural quantities, which is why its a restricted pesticides for farm field applications but not for fly control on cows. ๐Ÿฎ

Tonight will rain before 11pm, then rain and snow likely between 11pm and 1am, then a chance of snow after 1am. ๐ŸŒง Low of 31 degrees at 5am. 14 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 31st. Chilly night ahead. Northwest wind 10 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. In 2019, we had partly cloudy skies. It got down to 40 degrees. The record low of 27 occurred back in 1956.

Tonight will have a Waining Gibbous ๐ŸŒ– Moon with 96% illuminated. At 10 PM, the moon was in the east-southeast (120ยฐ) at an altitude of 2ยฐ from the horizon, some 231,768 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by October 31st. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บ The Flower ๐ŸŒท Moon is on Saturday, May 23. The darkest hour is at 12:53 am, followed by dawn at 5:10 am, and sun starting to rise at 5:41 am in the east-northeast (66ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 11 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 12 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:21 am with sun in the east-northeast (72ยฐ). Tonight will have 9 hours and 35 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 15 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have a slight chance of snow showers before 9am, then a slight chance of rain and snow showers between 9am and noon, then scattered rain showers after noon. Partly sunny ๐ŸŒง, with a high of 44 degrees at 3pm. 23 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 16th. Windy, with a west wind 21 to 26 mph, with gusts as high as 46 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Little or no snow accumulation expected. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 66 degrees. The record high of 93 was set in 1979. 1.6 inches of snow fell back in 1977.โ„

Just a friendly reminder that tomorrow is May 9th so with the wind it’s going to be cold. โ„ My heat is off but my windows are closed again. Memorial Day Weekend is just around the corner. I saw on Facebook that the town has been actively working on preparing the roads at Moose River Plains for opening in a few weeks.

I am still leaning towards the Coleman Screen house for camping ๐ŸŽช but they have two models I should make a decision this weekend or by Monday if I want it for Memorial Day Weekend even though I probably won’t camp that weekend due to the crowds but maybe take a long weekend the following week. The Coleman ones have a good review and it’s a well known brand. They have a conventional model and a newer quick pop up one which I have to study for durability and ease of putting up alone and relative size. Can’t be too big as I camp often in fairly small campsites. I like how the Coleman ones also lack floors so I won’t have to worry about spilled food, mud or beer. Make a mess, just shovel it out. Like a barnyard. ๐Ÿฝ Additionally, It will be nice to have a shelter from the bugs in the day time.

Also been looking at getting a good pair of binoculars. ๐Ÿ‘“Between working out of my truck watching nature through the windshield plus spending a lot more time in the woods during the pandemic I’ve come to realize how much I like bird ๐Ÿฆ watching. Plus I’ve joined a bunch of birder groups on Facebook and I’m getting a lot better at identifying birds just by thumbing through the pictures.

In four weeks on June 5 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (302ยฐ) at 8:29 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 26 minutes and 2 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had rain and temperatures between 83 and 55 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 75 and 53 degrees. The record high of 97 degrees was set back in 1925.

Looking ahead, 8:30 PM Sunset ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ is in 4 weeks.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿฆ…Only 2 weeks remain until the start of Memorial Day Weekend!๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Spring will arrive

May 4, 2020 Night

Good evening! Partly clear and 45 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a northwest breeze at 10 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. That breeze makes it’s a bit cold. After my evening walk ๐Ÿšถ I came inside and are laying on my bed.

Fairly quiet day at work today ๐Ÿ’ผ so I brought my laptop to the laundromat and worked there. Got my wash and sheets done and then worked down at the library parking lot on my laptop. Got a bunch of videos and data for future blog projects and uploaded a bunch of content to the blog. ๐Ÿ’ป

Walking on my evening walk ๐Ÿš I saw a CDTA bus. You don’t see so many of them now that they are running only the Saturday schedule and with so few people riding them. Seems so werid to see the buses now they it’s been eight weeks since the buses shut down except for the bare bones ๐Ÿ’€schedule ๐Ÿšand working from home.

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 33 degrees at 4am. 11 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 5th. Northwest wind around 10 mph. Cold night barely above freezing. My windows are closed. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became light rain by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 52 degrees. The record low of 29 occurred back in 1974.

Tonight will have a Waxing Gibbous ๐ŸŒ” Moon with 92% illuminated. At 10 PM, the moon was in the south-southeast (158ยฐ) at an altitude of 44ยฐ from the horizon, some 226,299 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by October 23rd. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บ The Flower ๐ŸŒท Moon is on Thursday, May 7. The darkest hour is at 12:53 am, followed by dawn at 5:15 am, and sun starting to rise at 5:46 am in the east-northeast (67ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 9 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 17 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:26 am with sun in the east-northeast (74ยฐ). Tonight will have 9 hours and 44 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 24 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 56 degrees at 4pm. 10 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 11th. Northwest wind 11 to 14 mph. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 58 degrees. The record high of 91 was set in 1944. There was a dusting of snow in 1900.โ„

Going to be cold but sunny tomorrow. โ˜€ It would be nice to work out back but I think it will be too cold. I do need to get milk ๐Ÿฎ in the morning, I’ll probably buy two gallons so I’m good for the week. Next week is Stewart’s Half Gallon Ice Cream sale ๐Ÿจ๐Ÿง๐Ÿฆand I’m definitely looking forward. That said, I should probably cut back as lately I’ve been putting on weight. Despite my efforts to get out walking ๐Ÿšถ it seems like I don’t get as much walking as I did when I was catching the bus ๐Ÿš downtown.

In four weeks on June 1 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (302ยฐ) at 8:26 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 27 minutes and 32 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly sunny, thunderstorm and temperatures between 81 and 49 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 74 and 52 degrees. The record high of 94 degrees was set back in 1918.

Still chewing over my summer vacation plans โ›บ but with the pandemic much may change. I’m still thinking about Piseco Powley Road for a week if I can get a camping permit for the weekend week. In a campsite with a lot of sun for the solar ok my truck and the screen house for buggy and rainy days. And maybe a swimming ๐ŸŠ hole within walking distance.

Looking ahead, Flower Moon ๐ŸŒ• is in 2 weeks, Memorial Day ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ is in 3 weeks, June ๐Ÿน is in 4 weeks and Average High is 80 ๐Ÿ– is in 7 weeks.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿฆ…Only 18 days remain until the start of Memorial Day Weekend!๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ
