December 2, 2020 Morning

Good morning! What day is it? First Hump Day of December, of course. Next Wednesday is Earliest Sunset of the Year โŒ›๏ธ. Partly cloudy and 34 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ›… There is a south breeze at 10 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. More sun than the initial forecast predicted. Temperatures will drop below freezing at tonight around 1 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Nice enough morning for the morning walk ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป which I had missed the past two days because of the weather and my inability to face ๐Ÿ˜” Monday morning. I heard that they are getting snow ๐ŸŒจ on the Tug Hill Plateau so I’m sure that Piseco Powley is done for the year. 2020 was a fun but odd year, and it kind of sucked that the southern end was closed due to the bridge being out. ๐ŸŒ‰ Remote work ๐Ÿ’ป from the Adirondacks was kind of fun though.

Today will have a slight chance of rain and snow showers before 11am, then a chance of rain showers between 11am and 5pm, then a slight chance of rain and snow showers after 5pm. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a high of 39 degrees at 11am. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around December 6th. South wind 10 to 13 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Little or no snow accumulation expected. A year ago, we had light drizzle in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 33 degrees. The record high of 66 was set in 1998. 6.2 inches of snow fell back in 1949.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 11:46 am with sun having an altitude of 25.3ยฐ from the due south horizon (-45.5ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 12.7 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 3:39 pm with the sun in the southwest (233ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-southwest (240ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 4:24 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 21 seconds with dusk around 4:54 pm, which is 16 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 5:31 pm. At sunset, look for rain showers ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 37 degrees. There will be a west breeze at 13 mph with gusts up to 23mph. Today will have 9 hours and 15 minutes of daytime, a decrease of one minute and 19 seconds over yesterday.

I am working on a series of hiker maps ๐Ÿ—บ that may become a feature of the blog, covering various long distance hiking trails in a series of pages on a PDF. The first series is going to be maps of the Long Path. I have designed the template but I need to get on the library wi-fi this afternoon to run the PDF as it requires the topographic maps from the national map to be used for the background.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear โ˜, with a low of 29 degrees at 5am. Three degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around November 26th. West wind 6 to 13 mph. In 2019, we had mist in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 22 degrees. The record low of -1 occurred back in 1976.

Not a lot of sun this weekend. ๐Ÿ˜ž Saturday, a chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 43. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Sunday, a chance of rain and snow before 1pm, then a chance of rain between 1pm and 4pm, then a chance of rain and snow after 4pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 38. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Typical average high for the weekend is 40 degrees.

Yesterday I was on Zillow looking at various properties in the mid west. ๐Ÿก Not because I’m planning to buy anything soon but I wanted to see how much farther my dollar ๐Ÿ’ต would go out there compared to locally. I don’t like the long and salt encrusted winters here but I’d like to get another decade here in New York State where the wages are good. My apartment is inexpensive, if a bit rusty, moldy and dirty. ๐Ÿท Says the boy ๐Ÿง’๐Ÿป interested in dairy and hog farming and kind of likes the smell of fermented silage ๐ŸŒฝ. Money looks good with the Dow at 30k. But most of that is just paper gains, and the market will most certainly come down ๐Ÿ“‰ in the coming years.

As previously noted, next Wednesday is Earliest Sunset of the Year โŒ›๏ธ when the sun will be setting at 4:21 pm with dusk at 4:53 pm. On that day in 2019, we had rain showers, cloudy and temperatures between 47 and 37 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 38 degrees. We hit a record high of 62 back in 1966.

November 25, 2020 Night

Good evening! Rain and 43 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜” There is a south-southeast breeze at 7 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Temperatures will drop below freezing at Sunday around 2 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

I ended up running to the bank ๐Ÿฆ and tonight to deposit my paycheck, return beer cans ๐Ÿป and get food and supplies for camping. ๐Ÿ›’ I also picked clear plastic bags for recycling โ™ป and another propane lantern. ๐Ÿฎ I’m going to part out my current one, because the globe alone costs $11 and I’m sure I’ll need one from that in the future and by the time I were to replace the plugged regulator it probably would have cost more than buying new. ๐Ÿ›  I do plan to use this new lantern on the spare Big Buddy filter I have to hopefully stop issues with it getting plugged.

Honestly, I didn’t want to go shopping tonight ๐Ÿง but I got my paycheck today in the mail โœ‰ and I needed to deposit it right away because it’s the end of the month and I have a lot of bills coming due on Friday. Plus my renters insurance is due, so it’s $1,750 due soon including automatic investments and savings withdrawals and without the paycheck in the bank it could be very tight. I make good money ๐Ÿ’ต but the more I make the more that gets invested or spent. My checking account is often paycheck to paycheck. I hope next pay period I’ll have direct deposit back. ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ Usually this is a bad night with the crowds at the store but this time it was relatively empty.

I have all the food ๐Ÿฒ and supplies I need for camping ๐Ÿ•. I’m leaving for the Adirondacks come Saturday. Where exactly I’ll go I’m a bit undecided although it looks like a mild and pleasant weekend. Probably not too remote in case I run into snow or ice ๐ŸŒจ up north. Never got to the library ๐Ÿ“š to get books but I have some I can bring from home ๐Ÿก and I’ll have lots of podcasts I’ll download tomorrow.

Tonight will rain. Patchy fog after midnight. ๐ŸŒง Low of 42 degrees at 12am. 13 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 9th. Southeast wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2019, we had mist in the evening, which became light rain by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 34 degrees. The record low of -11 occurred back in 1938.

Lately I’ve been sleeping ๐Ÿ˜ด better. I’ve been trying hard to retire early each night and keep my bedroom dark. ๐Ÿ’Š I forgot to get sleeping pills again but I am trying to get away from taking so many these days if I can avoid them. Also trying to use a lot of dim red light in my bedroom. Camping in the Adirondacks also always seems to improve my sleep.

Tonight will have a Waxing Gibbous ๐ŸŒ” Moon with 84% illuminated. At 10 PM, the moon was in the south-southwest (208ยฐ) at an altitude of 47ยฐ from the horizon, some 251,585 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by June 4th. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บ The Blue ๐ŸŒ Moon is on Monday, November 30. The darkest hour is at 11:44 pm, followed by dawn at 6:29 am, and sun starting to rise at 7:01 am in the east-southeast (118ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 18 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 10 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 7:44 am with sun in the southeast (126ยฐ). Tonight will have 14 hours and 35 minutes of darkness, an increase of one minute and 41 seconds over last night.

Thanksgiving Day ๐Ÿฆƒ will have showers likely, mainly between 9am and 11am. Patchy fog before 10am. Otherwise, cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 58 degrees at 3pm. 14 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around October 21st. Maximum dew point of 52 at 1pm. South wind 3 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. A year ago, we had light drizzle in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 58 degrees. The record high of 67 was set in 1979. 9.6 inches of snow fell back in 2014.โ„

Heading out to the folks house for Thanksgiving tomorrow. ๐Ÿฆƒ I am lucky that they are close and we will have a socially distant meal ๐Ÿด with everybody spread out in the living room. Not sure how many more visits though after this one if the COVID lock downs restart.

In four weeks on December 23 the sun will be setting in the west-southwest (238ยฐ) at 4:26 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 53 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had mostly sunny weather and temperatures between 50 and 18 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 33 and 19 degrees. The record high of 64 degrees was set back in 1990.

Looking ahead, Earliest Sunset of the Year โŒ›๏ธ is in 2 weeks, Tea Party Day ๐Ÿ is in 3 weeks, Festivus ๐Ÿ– is in 4 weeks, Christmas ๐ŸŽ… is a month away, Bacon Day ๐Ÿฅ“ is in 5 weeks, Make Your Dream Come True Day ๐Ÿก is in 7 weeks, Inauguration Day โœ… is in 8 weeks, 5 PM Sunset ๐ŸŒ† is in 2 months, Clean Your Computer Day ๐Ÿงน is in 11 weeks and Presidents Day ๐Ÿ‘ด is in 12 weeks.

Before Dawn

November 24, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Tuesday. Next Tuesday is December ๐ŸŽ„. Partly cloudy and one degree above freezing for my morning walk. โ›… There is a northwest breeze at 11 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Definitely a nice sunny morning although a bit breezy. The sun is a welcome change, it’s been so cloudy and gray lately. But that’s normal for November.

After missing my morning walk ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป the past few days, it’s a beautiful day for sure. Brisk but that’s to be expected in late November. I really enjoy the fresh air and sat out back last night for a couple of minutes until it got too cold out. ๐ŸŒƒ I hate when I miss my walk but sometimes the weather doesn’t cooperate. ๐ŸŒง๏ธ

I am heading downtown ๐Ÿš for a while for meetings and paperwork. ๐Ÿ“„ I washed my mask ๐Ÿ˜ท and it’s hanging out to dry now. I am going to shower ๐Ÿšฟ and bring my laptops ๐Ÿ’ปto use at work. I told John Wolcott I’d be over later this afternoon to continue looking at old files. ๐Ÿ“‚

Today will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 39 degrees at 1pm. Five degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around December 6th. Northwest wind 7 to 14 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 41 degrees. The record high of 70 was set in 2014. 8.8 inches of snow fell back in 1898.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 11:43 am with sun having an altitude of 26.7ยฐ from the due south horizon (-44.1ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 11.9 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 3:44 pm with the sun in the southwest (235ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-southwest (242ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 4:27 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 17 seconds with dusk around 4:56 pm, which is 35 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Gibbous ๐ŸŒ” Moon in the southeast (127ยฐ) at an altitude of 29ยฐ from the horizon, 249,985 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 5:33 pm. At sunset, look for mostly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 36 degrees. There will be a northwest breeze at 7 mph. Today will have 9 hours and 27 minutes of daytime, a decrease of one minute and 45 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a chance of snow, mainly between 2am and 5am. Increasing clouds ๐ŸŒจ, with a low of 28 degrees at 9pm. One degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around November 27th. Calm wind becoming southeast around 6 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. In 2019, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became light drizzle by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 36 degrees. The record low of 2 occurred back in 1938.

The propane lantern stopped working again. ๐ŸฎNo gas through it at all. I disassembled it and cleaned the valve with WD 40 and blew it out with compressed air but didn’t have any luck. Still not passing any propane. Months ago I discovered it was caked with black carbon which I removed. The lanterns are $29 at Wally World so I think I might just get another one and save the old one for parts – namely the glass globe which costs like $10 and I manage to break every few years. While I have electric lights, the propane lantern uses very little fuel and is bright ๐Ÿ”† and doesn’t shut off on under voltage. I will however run this lantern through the extra Big Buddy filter to avoid issues with it plugging in the future.

A picture perfect weekend on tap. ๐Ÿ˜Ž Saturday, partly sunny, with a high near 49. Sunday, sunny, with a high near 47. Typical average high for the weekend is 43 degrees.

I am still planning on heading to the Adirondacks this weekend. โ›บ It will be for two nights. While I certainly want to avoid the Black Friday crowds during the pandemic ๐Ÿคง I think I can get in and out of Hannaford on Friday on my way up avoiding the crowds. In my experience, Buy Nothing Day usually means the grocery stores are pretty empty. ๐Ÿ›’ People still have a lot of turkey ๐Ÿฆƒ to eat the next day.

As previously noted, next Tuesday is December ๐ŸŽ„ when the sun will be setting at 4:23 pm with dusk at 4:54 pm. On that day in 2019, we had snow and temperatures between 28 and 17 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 41 degrees. We hit a record high of 67 back in 1934.

Frigid Winter Day

November 19, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Cold Thursday. โ„ Next Thursday is Thanksgiving ๐Ÿฆƒ. Both regular season and Thanksgiving are late this year sure to the way that the calendar falls. Partly sunny and 21 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒ… There is a south-southeast breeze at 6 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The current wind chill is 9. Things will start to thaw out at around 10 am.๐ŸŒก๏ธ

It doesn’t seem that cold outside but I left the heat turned up a bit before bed ๐Ÿ› and this year it seems to be working better than in years past. โ™จ Of course it’s not really that cold out. The truck started up nice and easily this morning — now that the leaves are off the trees, the solar panel is dumping all the extra sunlight not needed for the battery bank into the starting battery.

Up early this morning as I have to run back to the shop ๐Ÿ”ง now that they have the stickers in to finish up the state inspection. But first I need to get fuel โ›ฝ and then I’ll probably work down at the library for a bit depending on how cold it is once the sun is up. Might not be too bad with the bright sun โ˜€ expected for most of the day. It will be nice when I have my phone set up as a hot spot at home ๐Ÿก although I’m going to wait another month for that. I’ve been reading ๐Ÿ“– up on the fine print but I think it will work well enough for me if I’m a bit careful with my data use. It seems like a really good deal all together, and offers the flexibility I need — I’d rather do it the old way walking down to the library or park after work once the panademic is over.

Today will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 43 degrees at 3pm. Four degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around November 27th. South wind 6 to 15 mph. A year ago, we had light snow in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 38 degrees. The record high of 71 was set in 1921. 4.2 inches of snow fell back in 1914.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 11:42 am with sun having an altitude of 27.8ยฐ from the due south horizon (-43ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 11.4 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 3:48 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (236ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-southwest (244ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 4:30 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 14 seconds with dusk around 4:59 pm, which is 45 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the First Quarter ๐ŸŒ“ Moon in the south-southwest (193ยฐ) at an altitude of 23ยฐ from the horizon, 237,066 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 5:36 pm. At sunset, look for partly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 42 degrees. There will be a south breeze at 14 mph. Today will have 9 hours and 36 minutes of daytime, a decrease of one minute and 58 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 33 degrees at 6am. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around November 12th. South wind 10 to 13 mph. In 2019, we had light drizzle in the evening, which became light snow by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 34 degrees. The record low of 6 occurred back in 1986.

Sunday looks cloudy but Saturday should be nice. ๐Ÿ˜€ Saturday, partly sunny, with a high near 49. Northwest wind 5 to 8 mph. Sunday, mostly cloudy, with a high near 46. Typical average high for the weekend is 46 degrees.

Probably this weekend will be like other recent ones. ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป Five Rivers walk on Saturday and out to the folks house on Sunday. That’s fine I’m saving money by staying home, bidding my time until summer returns again. ๐Ÿ– I am sure it’s not that long until the black flies return.

As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until 7:15 AM Sunrise โŒ›๏ธ when the sun will be setting at 4:22 pm with dusk at 4:53 pm. On that day in 2019, we had rain showers, mostly cloudy, mild and temperatures between 52 and 35 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 38 degrees. We hit a record high of 64 back in 1966.

November 15, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Sunday. โ›ช America Recycles Day. โ™ป Three weeks to First Sunday of Advent โœ๏ธ. Mostly cloudy and 28 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ There is a south-southeast breeze at 7 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Things will start to thaw out at around 9 am. ๐ŸŒก๏ธ

Colder than I expected last night, โ„ I woke up in the middle of the night and decided that I should turn up the heat as it was frigid in bed. Ended up waking up in the middle of the night ๐ŸŒƒ and staying awake for a few hours before falling asleep for a few more hours.

Yesterday was another kind of boring day ๐Ÿ˜ด and I walked out to Five Rivers ๐Ÿฆ for a few hours. The bluebirds I saw along the lake were quite beautiful. It was a nice walk but by the time I got home, listened to the news ๐Ÿ“ฐ and had dinner I ended up putting some podcasts on and retiring for the day.

Today will have showers likely, mainly after 5pm. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 49 degrees at 5pm. One degree above normal, which is similar to a typical day around November 14th. South wind 7 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 50 degrees. The record high of 74 was set in 1993. 4.8 inches of snow fell back in 1906.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 11:41 am with sun having an altitude of 28.8ยฐ from the due south horizon (-42.1ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 10.9 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 3:51 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (238ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-southwest (245ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 4:34 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 12 seconds with dusk around 5:02 pm, which is 54 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Crescent ๐ŸŒ’ Moon in the west-southwest (243ยฐ) at an altitude of 1ยฐ from the horizon, 227,803 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 5:38 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 48 degrees. Breezy, 16 mph breeze โ›… from the south-southeast with gusts up to 30mph. Today will have 9 hours and 44 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 8 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have showers and possibly a thunderstorm before midnight, then a slight chance of showers between midnight and 1am. ๐ŸŒง Low of 41 degrees at 6am. Seven degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 18th. South wind 10 to 16 mph becoming west after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. November 13, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Average Night Below Freezing ๐ŸŒŒ! Happy Friday the 13th in two ought two ough. ๐Ÿ‘น Ain’t that a cheery thought. Two weeks to Buy Nothing Day ๐Ÿ›๏ธ. Clouds and 36 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜๏ธ Calm wind. The air smells like barnyard ๐Ÿฎ and wood smoke ๐Ÿ”ฅ on my morning walk. Temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow around 9 pm. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Listening to Cat Stevens ๐Ÿ™€ and out for my morning walk ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป on this very gray November morning. The days are short and getting increasingly cold and it looks like it won’t be long before we get rain. Just November. Feeling a bit stiff and miserable but it’s the weather and the probably residual Lyme disease or spending too much time in my uncomfortable chair working from home.

Yesterday was kind of dull and cloudy day, โ˜๏ธ with a few work calls ๐Ÿ“ž but very quiet. I played a lot with the COVID-19 data and explored some new ideas I had for making maps. While my phone doesn’t work as a hot spot, I discovered that I can use it both to upload and download data via the USB cable. ๐Ÿ”Œ I probably should go library to work today and save some data on my phone ๐Ÿ“ฑ but the weather isn’t particularly nice. I saw the library now has hotspots you can borrow but I don’t know, I kind of like having limited internet access at home.

Today will have light rain before noon, then rain likely between noon and 4pm. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a high of 43 degrees at 1pm. Six degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around November 27th. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 26 degrees. The record high of 69 was set in 1964. 6.0 inches of snow fell back in 1886.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 11:41 am with sun having an altitude of 29.3ยฐ from the due south horizon (-41.6ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 10.7 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 3:54 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (239ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-southwest (246ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 4:36 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 11 seconds with dusk around 5:04 pm, which is 58 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 5:40 pm. At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies ๐ŸŒƒ and temperatures around 43 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 9 hours and 49 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 14 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 34 degrees at 6am. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around November 8th. West wind 3 to 5 mph. In 2019, we had clear skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 20 degrees. The record low of 12 occurred back in 1996.

Tomorrow will be partly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 45 degrees at 1pm. Four degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around November 22nd. Northwest wind 8 to 16 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 37 degrees. The record high of 70 was set in 1973. 14.4 inches of snow fell back in 1972.โ„

Going to be kind of cold โ„ and blustery for my walk ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป out to Five Rivers ๐Ÿฆ ๐Ÿธ but I like it so I’ll probably do it tomorrow. I expect Sunday’s weather to be worse. I do need to get there early because now the sun set is early and even with the blaze orange it’s not safe walking ๐Ÿš˜ on the narrow shoulders of Delaware Avenue.

Looking ahead to Sunday, a slight chance of rain and snow before 10am, then rain likely. โ˜” Mostly cloudy, with a high near 49. South wind 5 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. Typical average high for the weekend is 49 degrees.

On Sunday it will be another stay at home day, ๐Ÿก except maybe for going out to the folks house for Sunday dinner. ๐Ÿฒ I should figure out some other projects to work on too.

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Buy Nothing Day ๐Ÿ›๏ธ when the sun will be setting at 4:24 pm with dusk at 4:55 pm. On that day in 2019, we had partly sunny, rain showers and temperatures between 57 and 31 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 43 degrees. We hit a record high of 66 back in 1896.

Sunrise at the Campsite

November 9, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again in Biden’s America. ๐Ÿ’ต I heard the future markets are on a tear this morning. All that stimulus money has to somewhere if it’s not going to cause inflation. Three weeks to Cyber Monday ๐Ÿ›๏ธ. Foggy and 44 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒซ Calm wind.

Back home and mostly unpacked. ๐Ÿก I thought about staying another day in Madison County ๐Ÿฎbut work days are inevitably long and dark when I’m not working. The flat solar panel doesn’t put out that much energy with the low sun angle.

Today will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 71 degrees at 2pm. 20 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around September 20th. Maximum dew point of 50 at 3pm. Light and variable wind. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 39 degrees. The record high of 71 was set in 1975. 10 inches of snow fell back in 1900.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 11:40 am with sun having an altitude of 30.4ยฐ from the due south horizon (-40.5ยฐ vs. 6/21).
