October and already the leaves are fading away in the Adirondacks. πŸ‚ Most shocking to me is that we are less then a month away from November, which in many ways should be a sigh of relief with the craziness of work and with the deep blue skies and crisp days of that month.

I giggle a little every time I hear that phrase uttered by the elderly Jeff Sessions eight years ago. That’s exactly what is wrong with the older generation, passing moralistic judgements on those who choose to have a little fun in life that ain’t harming no one.

Outside of Plattsburgh in the flat lands of the Champlain Valley, corn and soy feed the big dairies. While the city continues to sprawl outwards, there is still a lot of farming going on around it. Further out as you get into the hills and uplands of the Northern Adirondacks forest lands prevail.

TheΒ Harding Road Trail is an old carriagewayΒ built to the former Kaaterskill Mountain House,Β long abandoned but still largely remaining 25-foot wide road cut into the side of South Mountain, running 2 miles from Palenville to the old carriageway looping around South Mountain.Β  Additional parking is available along Whites Road.
