Good evening! Rain and 40 degrees in Delmar. β˜” There is a east-southeast breeze at 10 mph. 🍃. Kind of a cold and wet night tonight, I turned on the heat after coming home. Above freezing here, and it will warm as the night progresses, then cool down over as the weekend progresses. Temperatures will drop below freezing at Sunday around noontime. β˜ƒοΈ

Tonight will rain, mainly before 3am. 🌧 Low of 39 degrees at 3am. With the rain, fairly mild. It will be six degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical night around October 18th. Southeast wind 6 to 10 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. In 2017, we had light rain in the evening, which became light snow by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 21 degrees. The record low of 16 occurred back in 1965.

Kind of a lazy Friday night, laying in bed listening to some Christmas music 🎄with the lights dimmed, writing down my thoughts on the blog. I’m going to kill the lights soon and go to bed, setting my alarm⏰ so I get started at a reasonable hour tomorrow. I still lack coffee but I think I will make waffles in the morning.

Tonight will have a Waxing Crescent Moon 🌒 with 7% illuminated. The moon will rise at 9:27 am. Not going to see much through the clouds tonight, although it has already set. The First Quarter Moon is on Wednesday night with partly cloudy skies. The Beaver Moon 🌝 is on Thursday, November 22nd. Thanksgiving! The sun will rise at 6:40 am with the first light at 6:10 am, which is one minute and 16 seconds later than yesterday. 🌄 Tonight will have 14 hours and 3 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 19 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have a slight chance of rain before 7am, then a slight chance of showers between 7am and 11am. Mostly sunny 🌞, with a high of 39 degrees at 6am. 11 degrees below normal, which is similiar to a typical day around December 6th. West wind 8 to 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. Pretty darn chilly but I still think I will bundle up and head up north and enjoy the sunshine. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies with more clouds in the afternoon. The high last year was 45 degrees. The record high of 72 was set in 1931. 3.2 inches of snow fell back in 1987.❄

The moldy, musty smell has mostly disappeared from my apartment, since I cleaned up the mildew under the stove and behind it. Most of the rest of the kitchen has was mildew free once I got it cleaned up but it was a tough year fighting the mildew with it being such a hot and wet summer. 💦 Fortunately, full strength bleach works wonders on the walls. It’s been an ongoing battle in my apartment but it’s a cheap place and I love location near the library, parks, and express and local busses.

Continuing to design the flashing start I’m building for my niece for her night stand, but I expect I have a design that is nice. ✨ Powered by an Ardiuno board it uses RGB leds to turn marbles various colors.

I’m going to play it by ear but I fully expect to head up to the Adirondacks by mid morning tomorrow. β›Ί I am hoping to get the campsite I like that has cell service and a good clearing to flood the solar panel with sunlight during the daylight hours. Sunday I will hike back along the Stewart Creek most likely, and Monday (Veterans Day) I will head home as I have to work Tuesday. I think with the rain, most of the snow they got earlier today will be melted away but I’ll bring my sled in case I have to drag gear back to the site. At some point, maybe Monday I’ll hike back to Auger Falls, or maybe drive up to Speculator and hike the nature trail boardwalk, as it would be interesting to see in the winter.

I skipped buying groceries today, I’ll get them on the way up. 🍖I bought my hunting license today although the town clerk charged me an extra $1.95 for using my credit card, as I lacked $22 in cash. Saved money by skipping my trapping privileges this year although I could get that later. Next time I will just go to the DEC license bureau and buy it. I can’t believe they charge for that. I can understand charging for extra fees for a town license on a credit card but a hunting license where Walmart or every other place doesn’t seems silly 💳. It’s not like they aren’t getting paid by the state as a retailer like $2. Buying a license at Walmart is a pain because there never is a clerk there. But I know I won’t be buying a license again from the town clerk. I should go to the bank tomorrow and deposit the expense check I have from work and get some cash as it’s handy to have as a few places don’t take cards.

I went to the library and borrowed several books and got caught up on things on the internet. 📚 Looking forward to doing some reading up at camp and just sitting back by the fire during the long winter nights. I hope we have lots of blue skies as it will make things feel much more cheery and keep the batteries well topped off. Even a cold day, the sun can make things much better.

Good evening! Partly clear and 45 degrees in Delmar.🌃 There is a west breeze at 9 mph. 🍃. Really not a half bad evening for early to mid November. If I wasn’t so tired, I’d probably sit out back. Tonight will be partly cloudy ☁, with a low of 37 degrees at 6am. Three degrees above normal. West wind 7 to 9 mph. In 2017, we had cloudy skies, clearing in the early hours of the next day. It got down to 26 degrees. Fairly cold night last year. The record low of 18 occurred back in 1971.

Fairly nice weekend on tap. 🌞 Saturday, a slight chance of showers before 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 41. Chance of precipitation is 20%. Typical average high for the weekend is 50 degrees.

I’m kind of glad to be back home. Apartment is kind of musty but I enjoy being at home where I can take the bus to work and around town, 🏃and best of all do my evening walk. On my evening walk a saw a rather impressive shooting star. Nice, I missed seeing the stars or for that matter doing anything but work over the last fifty days.

Pretty tired tonight, 💤so I’m going to head to bed soon. I have already dimmed the lights in my apartment to the red lights and a small led light I built some time. Nice being able to sleep again in my own bed.

Tomorrow I’m going to hook up the shunt and meter that will allow me to monitor the output of the battery and maybe solar panel to see how much energy is being put out. I may only do the first one for now. We will see. I’m thinking about it, there are already too many wires in my truck as it stands now. 🔌I also need to do some more unpacking and cleaning in the apartment, finding more locations to go after the mildew smells with bleach.

I have to work next Wednesday through the weekend, so I will probably be cutting back or delaying my big road trip for now. 🚘 I’ve noticed some new notices when I turn the wheel hard on the truck like in parking lots at low speed and maybe a slight toe on the front tires of my truck after driving through a mud pile so I’m thinking about getting that looked at before planning any big trips. Something is malfunctioning and while it may not be an immediate safety crisis at some point it will fail or put excessive wear on the tires. Next weekend though looks really good for a three day trip over Veterans Day Weekend but the week looks cold and potentially snowy ❄ so I’m thinking about delaying my trip for now or maybe rescheduling for next year if the snow comes early.

In four weeks on December 5 the sun will be setting at 4:22 pm,🌄 which is 18 minutes and 17 seconds earlier then tonight. October 31, 2018 Night

Good evening and Good Bye October! 🍂 The cold and often quite gray season of November is just around the corner. Rain and 56 degrees in North Syracuse. β˜” There is a west breeze at 6 mph. 🍃. Kind of a drizzling evening driving home although with the headlights properly adjusted and the fog lights on it wasn’t too bad. The skies will clear Sunday around 5 am.

I thought today was a productive, good day. 😎 If all goes well, in a week I will be back home once again sleeping in my own bed. I’m happy about that. 💤 Then a nice week long road trip which should be quite nice. Assuming of course that the weather cooperates. The 8-14 day outlook keeps changing.

Tonight will have a chance of showers, mainly after 5am. Cloudy ☁, with a low of 46 degrees at 6am. 11 degrees above normal. West wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. πŸ˜• Saturday, a chance of showers. Cloudy, with a high near 44. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Yuck. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 50. Cool but sunny. I’m not complaining. Typical average high for the weekend is 53 degrees.

I am still hoping for a nice early Sunday morning hike, 🏃either along the Erie Canal or maybe Green Lakes. I don’t expect to be back out in the Syracuse area for a long time after this weekend. But it’s been a fun time, even if lately it seems like the weather has been so dreary.

The time change will be nice with the extra sunshine in the morning, 🕐 but I’m hardly thrilled about having to go home in the darkness, especially the dark bus ride home on the Delmar bypass. But this happens every November and December. Kind of makes for a nice long evening camping and enjoying cooking over the fire or the campstove. 🍳

In four weeks on November 28 the sun will be setting at 4:31 pm (Standard Time),🌄 which is one hour, 25 minutes and 36 seconds earlier then tonight. House on the Hill

October 30, 2018 Night

Good evening! Mostly clear and 40 degrees in North Syracuse.🌌 Calm wind.

It’s actually a really nice evening after a really nice weather wise day for a change, 😎 although it was a busy day so I was trapped all day in the office, only escaping long enough to get a can of some kind of Chef Boy-r-dee from my truck.🍛 I think I could see the stars through the suburbanite streetlights. 🌃 I’m so sick and tired of being kind of missing my autumn. In a week though, it will all be just a memory. Hopefully a good one.

Tonight will have increasing clouds , ☁ with a low of 39 degrees at 11pm. Four degrees above normal. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph after midnight. In 2017, we had mostly cloudy skies, clearing in the early hours of the next day. It got down to 40 degrees. The record low of 18 occurred back in 1988.

Tomorrow will have some breaks of sun then showers, mainly after 2pm. High of 59 degrees at 2pm. 💧 Five degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 52 at 4pm. 🏖️ Southwest wind 7 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies, clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 54 degrees. The record high of 73 was set in 1946. 0.1 inches of snow fell back in 1913.❄

Lately I’ve just become more and more discontented with the suburbanite lifestyle that I see every day on television and my travels for work. 🏡 I’m making the good middle class income now but I don’t want marble countertops or vinyl siding, I’d rather save and invest and have something much more modest with lots of land paid in cash. I know I say that a lot here, but I’m just so discontented with the suburbanite, disposable lifestyle with the big fancy houses. Give me back my mildewy, run down apartment, public transit busses and my weekend adventures in the wilderness. 🚌 I just find so little of that other lifestyle appealing with the debt and the waste.

Maybe it’s just a reflection of having worked so many hours for nearly fifty daywin a place far from home,😴 but these suburbs really aren’t a place I’d ever want to set down roots.🌲The quite rural Oswego County to the north and parts of the southern half of the county are nice but I have nothing good to say about the big suburbs and their fancy houses.

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. πŸ˜• Saturday, a chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 48. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 50. Typical average high for the weekend is 53 degrees. Sunday sounds really nice and with the time change if I get up really early, maybe I’ll be able to get some fresh air before work. Doubt though that I’ll have time to head down to Labrador Hollow one more time. Maybe during my November road trip in a little over a week? 🚗 Although finding a place to camp nearby there is kind of difficult and I’m thinking about a more northerly route for this year’s trip, including visiting Chimney Bluffs State Park.

In four weeks on November 27 the sun will be setting at 4:31 pm (Standard Time),🌄 which is one hour, 26 minutes and 30 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2017 on that day, we had rain, snow, partly cloudy skies and temperatures between 43 and 23 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 43 and 28 degrees. The record high of 66 degrees was set back in 1896. Depending how much snow we get in November, I may do some late season camping and hunting on NY 8 over the Thanksgiving weekend. β›ΊThere’s that one site that has lots of clearing for solar power, has marginal but working cellphone reception and is near hiking trails to boot. But not if it’s snowy or another hunting party had taken it. 🐻

Looking ahead, Election Day 2018 🗳️ is in 1 week, Average Night Below Freezing 🌌 is in 2 weeks, Christmas 🎅 is in 8 weeks, New Years Day 2019 🎉 is in 9 weeks, 36th Birthday 🎉 is in 13 weeks and Election Day 2020 🗳️ is in 105 weeks. Always gets cold and dark fast this time of year. But it will still be nice to be back out in the wilderness in a week and a half.β›Ί It seems like with work and the cloudy and rainy autumn, it’s just disappeared so quickly. 🍂

Busy day today at work. But things are getting done that need to get done. 💼 But I’m ready for it to be done, a good job that pays for after careful planning and action. On the blog, I fixed one more issue with the SSL change over, which wasn’t that difficult but still involved addressing many minor issues.

Looking forward not just to my road trip but my many electronics projects I’m planning for the winter. 📺 I’m not a big fan of soldering but I enjoy the coding and building interesting projects that serve my unique needs. I don’t like off the shelf things that don’t really serve my needs. But first some great nights in the wilderness next to the campfire. 🔥

In four weeks on November 26 the sun will be setting at 4:32 pm (Standard Time),🌄 which is one hour, 27 minutes and 23 seconds earlier then tonight. Looking ahead, Veterans Day Observed (Monday) 🇺🇸 is in 2 weeks, Cyber Monday 🛍️ is in 4 weeks, New Years Eve 🎆 is in 9 weeks and 36th Birthday 🎉 is in 3 months.

Nine weeks to New Years Evening. That’s really surprising how fast the year is coming to a close. 🎇 One year closer to my life goals, one more year of saving and investing, working for a better tomorrow. And some great adventures that I enjoyed even if it’s been so wet and cloudy much of the summer.

Late afternoon

October 28, 2018 Night

Good evening! Times of downpours and then just clouds around 41 degrees in North Syracuse. 💦 There is a east-southeast breeze at 5 mph. 🍃. Fortunately driving home wasn’t too bad rain wise and the skies will clear Tuesday around 7 am. Some blue sky would be nice for a change. I’m tired of all the rainy dreary days.

Tonight will have scattered showers between 11pm and 2am, then rain likely after 2am. Cloudy β˜” , with a low of 40 degrees at 5am. Four degrees above normal. East wind around 5 mph becoming light and variable in the evening. It’s actually fairly mild out this evening, warmer that going into work. Chance of precipitation is 60%. I dropped off my absentee ballot and it’s on the way to Albany. This year was easier than most I knew who I was voting for before I got the ballot to review. 📬 Some years I question my choices but not this year. Although I know how much goes into a political candidacy, at the end of the day I’m pretty indifferent about elections. Things seem to go on, pretty unchanging in my life. I don’t own a television so I don’t have to worry about indigestion after dinner from watching the evening news. 📺

It’s just been such a rainy time lately. I’m still hoping that the rain burns itself out by mid November. β›Ί I’m really hoping for a nice trip this year and then returning to the quiet and relaxing life of Albany, taking the bus to work once again. 🚌 I hate having to motor everywhere I go and not having public transportation as an option. I kind of also like the solitude of being home without internet and going for a stroll down to the library when I need internet.

I ordered a few more small components on Ali Expres for winter electronics projects. :idea:Just a few other things. I should be real set to build basically anything I would want this winter with my soldering iron and some code.📟 I have some great ideas for neat things like lamps and decorations but I just now got to sit down and build them once I get back home and the weather is nasty out again. ❄

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. πŸ˜• Saturday, a chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 50. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Sunday, partly sunny, with a high near 51. At least you get to sleep in then with the time change. Typical average high for the weekend is 53 degrees.

In 2017 on that day, we had mostly cloudy skies and temperatures between 52 and 39 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 44 and 29 degrees. The record high of 64 degrees was set back in 2004. It’s often pretty cool by late November, which honestly isn’t that far away. Winter will be here before you know it.

Looking ahead, Daylight Savings Time Ends 🛥️ in 1 week, Veterans Day (Sunday) 🇺🇸 is in 2 weeks and First Sunday of Advent ✝️ is in 5 weeks.
