It's the second half of November as the label job I ran today reminds me. 🏷️ The landscape is cold and barren, it's dark out for a good portion of day, and riding home in the dark isn't much fun. But you make the best of it, and I figure the extra sleep and time to learn isn't a bad thing. πŸ›Œ Next adventure after Thanksgiving! πŸ¦ƒ Hopefully the fire risk is down by then as I want to have a big bonfire in wilderness πŸ”₯ after a good day riding trail or hiking. 🚢

Happy Sunday … Final One in October 🍁

Absolutely beautiful day! The sun is shinning, it’s fairly mild and the wind is not yet picking up.

It will be good weather for doing the oil change on Big Red.  πŸ”§ It’s been a while since I’ve done one — it was hard to get oil during the panademic — but should go smoothly as Red is pretty easy to do an oil change, assuming the filter and oil pan drain plug come out relatively easily. Then it will be done, and I shouldn’t have to do it one until next summer. I’ll have the shop rotate the tires the next time I’m in there for state inspection during the beginning of December.  πŸ§‘‍πŸ”§ I think the new trucks are too difficult to do oil changes on — heck they don’t even have dip sticks — so this may be one of the last automobiles I do oil changes on.

Went to Walmart, got groceries  πŸ›’ and should be stocked up with good hardy, healthy ingredients for the week to come. 🍏 Apple picking with dad this afternoon then Sunday dinner. I’m bringing out my slop bucket to dump on their compost pile, πŸ’©and then I’ll head home. Next weekend looks like rain, so probably no camping next weekend,  πŸ•οΈ but if I wait past next weekend for Veterans Day Weekend, then I won’t have to deal with campaign-related work while at camp, and it can truly be a vacation. ☺️ And that will be nice. Work is tiring, and I just want some time to hang out and relax. Don’t get me wrong I would like get out next weekend, but not with the current high fire danger  πŸ”₯ — you know I like burning shit — and rain coming for the second half of the weekend.

Yesterday was fun but darkness approached early, πŸŒ† so it was a bit of a rush at the end of day, but I spent some time enjoying the cold but beautiful weather at Five Rivers then riding out to Bender Melon Farm Preserve. Saw some deer, chipmunks and turkeys along the way. It wasn’t a bad afternoon, and then I came home and made up soup with everything I had remaining at home — lentils, whole-wheat pasta, canned chicken, onions, and some random vegatables I had hanging around the chicken. And some cornmeal to thicken things up. It was good, 🍻 cracked open a few beers to enjoy with it and passed out dead tired. I still think I have a bit of that residual cold left from two weeks ago.
