October 2, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy Average High is 65 ๐Ÿ‚! Five weeks to Day After Election Day ๐Ÿ›€. Unless of course you Early Vote. โŽ I think I’ll take that option, it’s so convenient for me with the Early Vote site just down the road. Cloudy and 69 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ There is a west breeze at 5 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 67 degrees. The skies will clear tomorrow around noontime.

Walked down to the express bus ๐Ÿš. First time in a while. Nice and cool on the bus. Going to rain later on, I’m glad I brought a rain coat โ˜”. It’s good, we’ve had a pretty good rain deficit lately although not as bad of a drought as West Virginia. I’m hoping it rains midday and clears out later so I can get propane and do more packing for my trip.

Pretty good traffic jam heading into the Empire Plaza. ๐Ÿš๐Ÿš‘๐Ÿš“๐Ÿš•๐Ÿš—๐Ÿš™๐Ÿšš๐Ÿš™๐Ÿš— But we are creeping along and I’m driving. I don’t really understand the appeal of electric cars. I can’t imagine they’re much different than fossil fuel burners on the climate. ๐ŸŒŽ An certainly they’ll still destroy our cities.

Today will have showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Cloudy,โšกโ˜๐Ÿ’ฆ with a temperature rising to near 70 by 9am, then falling to around 61 during the remainder of the day. West wind 5 to 9 mph becoming north in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. It became somewhat humid as the day progressed. The high last year was 66 degrees. The record high of 85 was set in 1927. There was a dusting of snow in 1899.โ„

The sun will set at 6:35 pm with dusk around 7:03 pm, which is one minute and 45 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for rain showers, damp, cloudy ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 60 degrees. The dew point will be 53 degrees. There will be a north breeze at 8 mph. Today will have 11 hours and 42 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 52 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a chance of showers before 7pm. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 43 degrees at 6am. One degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 5th. North wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2018, we had cloudy skies. It was somewhat humid. It got down to 50 degrees. The record low of 29 occurred back in 1945.

A picture perfect weekend on tap. ๐Ÿ˜Ž Saturday, patchy frost before 9am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 58. Sunday, a chance of showers after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 64. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Maximum dew point of 52 at 7pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 64 degrees. Doesn’t look quite as nice heading south but so be it.

Looking forward to getting out of town. ๐Ÿ˜ I don’t think I’ll miss seeing Albany in the rear view mirror or nights in the Mountain Laurel. Going to be a full ๐ŸŒ• moon by the end of vacation so if it’s clear out there may be many nice evenings. I won’t miss Albany one bit or complain about the quiet in the National Quiet Zone. ๐Ÿ”•

Looking ahead, there are 5 weeks until Day After Election Day ๐Ÿ›€ when the sun will be setting at 4:42 pm with dusk at 5:12 pm (Standard Time). On that day in 2018, we had drizzle, showers, cloudy and temperatures between 54 and 44 degrees. I think I drove back that Election Day After via US 20. It was quite a day after Election Day. Typically, the high temperature is 52 degrees. We hit a record high of 73 back in 2015.

 Yachts

October 1, 2019 Night

Good evening! Muggy, cloudy and 72 degrees in Delmar. โ˜ There is a south breeze at 9 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 67 degrees. Probably the last real muggy evening of the year. The skies will clear Friday around 2 pm. Sitting out back for a while, went to the library earlier and played on the internet for a while.

It was a busy day at work. ๐Ÿ’ผ It just seemed like things were non stop for all day. I’d reply to one email and two more would come in. ๐Ÿ“ง I have an assistant who could help but sometimes it’s difficult to delegate, especially when I have the relationship with the client and know what the client wants. Next week though, especially in the National Quiet Zone I’ll be entirely off the grid. โ›”

There was a big bus ๐Ÿš and some kind of event at the park and ride for the town Republicans. ๐Ÿ˜ They really don’t like the street calming measures on Delaware Avenue. I honestly think it will make the street a lot safer and less crazy. ๐Ÿšง Potential traffic delays are much overstated. One of the Republicans helped me back out and said I had a nice truck. I don’t know but I’m not particularly inclined to vote โŽ republican on the local level, I’m mostly satisfied with the incumbents. I’m a Democrat after all and do a lot of walking ๐Ÿšถ and using public transportation around town. I don’t really get involved in politics or have strong ๐Ÿ’ช views, I’m mostly focused on s and investing for a better tomorrow when I can own my own land.๐Ÿ–๐Ÿ„ I honestly hadn’t followed the latest controversy in the Adirondacks lately – if they lock ๐Ÿ”’ down the entire park โ›ฒ I’ll recreate elsewhere.

I am glad that the truck issues are worked out. ๐Ÿš™ Now I just got to find a way to put those heavy junk rotators to use. Not bringing them to West Virginia but I could see using them some point in future as weights for tying things down at camp. So heavy. Put them away in the attic for now. Tomorrow after work if it’s not pouring rain โ˜” I want to get my propane tank filled and maybe buy some food and a few supplies for use at camp. Then Thursday pack, pack pack ๐Ÿ“ฆ. Friday night laundromat, final review of the trip plan. And early to bed as I want to leave before dawn and get down to Pennsylvania early enough to have scrapple before lunch time.

Tonight will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 11pm. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 65 degrees at 6am. 20 degrees above normal. Definitely mild. Maximum dew point of 67 at 9pm. South wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. In 2018, we had light drizzle in the evening, which became light rain by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 52 degrees. The record low of 30 occurred back in 1972.

Tonight will have a Waxing Crescent Moon ๐ŸŒ’ with 24% illuminated. The moon will rise at 11:21 am. The First Quarter Moon is on Friday night with a slight chance of rain. The Hunter Moon ๐ŸŒ is on Saturday, October 12th. The sun will rise at 6:52 am with the first light at 6:24 am, which is one minute and 6 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ Tonight will have 12 hours and 15 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 53 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 1pm, then a chance of showers. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 65 degrees at 6am. Typical for tomorrow. Maximum dew point of 66 at 6am. West wind 7 to 9 mph becoming north in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, which became light drizzle by afternoon. The high last year was 66 degrees. The record high of 85 was set in 1927. There was a dusting of snow in 1899.โ„

I think this is my best planned trip to West Virginia ever. โ›บ So much detail and plans this year, I really know where I’m going and what’s worthwhile and whats not. 2017 was kind of a mess with my mom being in the hospital, ๐Ÿฅ and really involved minimal planning. I just kind of coasted on my knowledge from 2015. That year was my first trip to West Virginia – it was fun but I didn’t really know my way around. Late 2020 or maybe autumn 2021 I’m thinking about a trip to Warren National Forest in Ohio which will be a totally new place to explore. Eventually I want to go spend a week in Missouri but that’s in the out year.

Definitely now would like to hit both the high peak of Pennsylvania, Maryland and West Virginia on my trip. ๐Ÿ—ป They’re all within 50 miles of each other in the Appalachian high country so very doable and the only real hike, which isn’t long but is steep is the Maryland Peak. I probably would want to visit the Pennsylvania peak either on the way down there or up because tats a bit out of the way.

The first half of the week could be dreary and cold but if necessary I’ll camp up in the Mountain Laurel of Cannan Heights and pitch a tent, โ›บ and use the heater to get warm with a good book. Then if necessary, hang up a tarp and have a nice fire and head to bed early. I got to make sure I have mantles for my lantern, ๐Ÿฎ especially eoyj long nights now coming up.

In four weeks on October 29 the sun will be setting at 5:52 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 44 minutes and 46 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2018 on that day, we had rain showers, partly sunny skies and temperatures between 52 and 42 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 55 and 36 degrees. The record high of 77 degrees was set back in 1946.

Despite the hick ups in my budget lately, I think it will prove to be a good year for my retirement and mid term savings goals. ๐Ÿ’ธ I’m really hopeful for a better tomorrow, especially as I save for retirement. It’s going to take many more years but the off grid property will eventually become a reality, ๐Ÿก where I can farm, burn, and hopefully protect myself from the worst consequence of climate change. Cows and goats are a lot of fun to watch, solar power is fun to watch on the meter, and it’s fun to watch the discarded bottle shrivel up in the fire. ๐Ÿ”ฅ Fortunately in Pennsylvania and West Virginia I’ll get a good respite from the city and get to enjoy country living. ๐Ÿšœ For at least a week. Western Maryland has some pretty redneck country too.

Looking ahead, November ๐Ÿฅง is a month away, Election Day 2019 ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ is in 5 weeks, December ๐ŸŽ„ is in 2 months, 7:15 AM Sunrise โŒ›๏ธ is in 10 weeks, Christmas Eve ๐ŸŽ… is in 12 weeks, New Years Eve ๐ŸŽ† is in 13 weeks, New Years Day 2019 ๐ŸŽ‰ is in 3 months, Coldest Week of the Year ๐ŸŒฌ is in 15 weeks and Martin Luther King Day ๐Ÿ–ค is in 16 weeks.

It’s raining again. I’m heading inside.

Payne Mountain From Wakely Pond

September 29, 2019 Night

Good evening! Partly clear and 53 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a north breeze at 8 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Temperatures are dropping quickly tonight, I wore a t-shirt ๐Ÿ‘• out hiking earlier but by evening heading home it was cold enough to warrant turning on the heat in the truck.

Sunday dinner at the parents house was good. ๐Ÿ Mom and dad made spaghetti and meatballs, only the way a mother could make them. Yummy ๐Ÿ˜‹. I also got the inside of the truck picked up, floors vacuumed and things cleaned up a bit around the apartment. This week after work I’ll work on packing and finalizing organizing for vacation. ๐Ÿ’ผ Blodgett Hill was pretty neat to explore, I’d like to explore it more come the winter or maybe next year.

I rode the exercise bike ๐Ÿšฒ for a while while watching YouTube after getting home from the folks house ๐Ÿก. Now I’m laying back in bed working on the blog post. My neighbor isn’t home so I don’t have to worry about the noise from the bike. ๐Ÿ”• Took a sleeping pill ๐Ÿ’Š and I have set alarm โฐ for 6:30 in the morning so I can drop off the truck in the morning. The wheel noise has gotten louder, I’m pretty sure it’s a failing wheel bearing but I’ll let the mechanic figure it out ๐Ÿ”งand not guess myself. Hopefully it will get fixed and vacation will go well.

Tonight will be partly cloudy ๐ŸŒค, with a low of 41 degrees at 5am. Four degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 10th. North wind 6 to 8 mph. In 2018, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 43 degrees. The record low of 28 occurred back in 1991.

Tonight will have a Waxing Crescent Moon ๐ŸŒ’ with 8% illuminated. The moon will rise at 8:55 am. The First Quarter Moon is on Friday night with showers likely. The Hunter Moon ๐ŸŒ is on Saturday, October 12th. Perfect timing for my trip. The sun will rise at 6:50 am with the first light at 6:22 am, which is one minute and 6 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ Tonight will have 12 hours and 10 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 51 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 68 degrees at 3pm. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around September 27th. North wind 5 to 8 mph becoming south in the afternoon. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 66 degrees. The record high of 88 was set in 1905.

Midweek looks like it will be quite rainy. ๐Ÿ’ฆ We could use the rain. West Virginia is particularly dry but the fire risk is still quite low probably because the Mountain Laurel stores a lot of moisture and the fields are still quite green. No fire bans down there, I checked ๐Ÿ”ฅ. Not sure how good the colors will be down there. ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‚

I am thinking about visiting Hyner View on the way down to West Virginia next Sunday but I might wait until the trip back north just because I don’t know how good the colors will be there ๐Ÿ‚but it should be good by Columbus Day Weekend. Plus it’s a bit out of the way and I’m probably going to be a rush to get down to West Virginia. First few nights in West Virginia I’ll probably be Cannan Heights.

In four weeks on October 27 the sun will be setting at 5:55 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 45 minutes and 31 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2018 on that day, we had rain and temperatures between 43 and 37 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 56 and 36 degrees. The record high of 79 degrees was set back in 1963.

Looking ahead, Average High is 60 ๐Ÿ‚ is in 2 weeks, Daylight Savings Time Ends ๐Ÿ›ฅ๏ธ is in 5 weeks, Average High is 50 ๐Ÿ‚ is in 6 weeks, Regular Deer Season in Southern Zone ๐ŸฆŒ is in 7 weeks, Buy Nothing Day ๐Ÿ›๏ธ is in 2 months, December ๐ŸŽ„ is in 9 weeks, Bill of Rights Day ๐Ÿ“œ is in 11 weeks, Days are Getting Longer โ˜€๏ธ is in 12 weeks, National Pie Day ๐Ÿฐ is in 16 weeks, 5:30 PM Dusk ๐ŸŒ† is in 17 weeks, 37th Birthday ๐ŸŽ‰ is in 4 months.

Water Dropping

September 23, 2019 Night

Good evening! Humid with thunderstorms and 73 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ I decided to stay home and get a few things done. It was also raining hard for a while. There is a west breeze at 11 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 63 degrees. 0.13 inches of rain is expected before it ends tomorrow around 1 am.

Tonight will have showers and thunderstorms likely before 2am, then isolated showers between 2am and 3am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 60 degrees at 6am. 12 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around August 20th. Maximum dew point of 63 at 9pm. West wind 9 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. In 2018, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 46 degrees. The record low of 27 occurred back in 1963.

The sun will rise at 6:43 am with the first light at 6:15 am, which is one minute and 5 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ Tonight will have 11 hours and 52 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 52 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be scattered showers, mainly between 9am and 1pm. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 67 degrees at 3pm. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around September 28th. Much cooler tomorrow. Maximum dew point of 57 at 6am. Light and variable wind becoming west 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 63 degrees. The record high of 90 was set in 2017.

Got my camping gear put away. โ›บ I know in a week I’ll need it again but first I want to get things well organized before I leave for vacation. I don’t want to have to dig around for missing equipment during camping or not have the gear I need.

Continuing to go through my maps and studying for my road trip. Car ๐Ÿš™ It is super obnoxious that there is no one single map of the George Washington National Forest. You can buy small National Geographic maps but no official or unofficial overview map exists. ๐Ÿ—พ The Monongahela National Forest in contrast has a very excellent map, well worth the $14 online or $10 at the Forest Service office. It’s detailed but easy to read. Very talented geographer made it up. It’s also a work of the federal government so you can freely copy and print it but the official version is on water proof paper. There is also a Jefferson National Forest map but that one is not waterproof paper and the design is lower quality.

In four weeks on October 21 the sun will be setting at 6:04 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 47 minutes and 19 seconds earlier then tonight. September 22, 2019 Night

Good evening! Partly clear and 75 degrees in Dormansville, NY. There is a south-southwest breeze at 8 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 64 degrees. Kind of muggy end to summer. But then again autumn is going to start out pretty hot and muggy. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

With today, I think it’s fair to say summer camping season is done. I doubt I’ll do any more kayaking this summer, put the fishing pole away for my gun. โ›บ I’m still looking forward to my West Virginia trip in twelve days. Money will be tighter then expected but if I have to dip a little bit into savings it’s not the end of the world. I’m mostly backcountry camping so lodging expenses will be low and I cook most of my own food ๐Ÿฒ.

It was a great weekend, got to see see and do a lot but it’s intensely frustrating ๐Ÿ˜ค that Big Red has developed a noise in the rear right wheel. Not sure if it’s the drum brake or the wheel bearing but things only break when money is tight. I’m always putting more damn money into keeping the brakes working right. Those big wheels, my heavy truck cap the solar panel, batteries and camping equipment put quite a bit of weight on the brakes going down the mountains. If I get another truck eventually it’s going to be a 3/4 ton for sure, without a lift kit. But I may go car-less for a while so I can save more for my future.

Tonight will be partly cloudy ๐ŸŒค, with a low of 65 degrees at 5am. 16 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 64 at 10pm. South wind around 8 mph. In 2018, we had partly cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 45 degrees. The record low of 32 occurred back in 1963.

Tonight will have a Waning Crescent Moon ๐ŸŒ˜ with 28% illuminated with the moon rising at 12:16 am. The moon will rise at 1:00 am. The New Moon is on Friday night with mostly clear skies. The Hunter Moon ๐ŸŒ is on Saturday, October 12th. The sun will rise at 6:43 am with the first light at 6:15 am, which is one minute and 5 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ Tonight will have 11 hours and 50 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 51 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have a chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 2pm. Partly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 85 degrees at 3pm. 16 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 65 at 10am. Summer like for sure. South wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 66 degrees. The record high of 97 was set in 1895.

In four weeks on October 20 the sun will be setting at 6:06 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 47 minutes and 25 seconds earlier then tonight. The record high of 80 degrees was set back in 1965.

Tomorrow I will probably go to Walmart and get more blue jeans ๐Ÿ‘–. I wrecked the one pair and I’m running low on pairs that aren’t ripped or falling apart. Maybe I can order them online and save the trip. Tuesday I need to go to State Farm and Slingerlands and present my insurance discount certificate. I might walk there. Wednesday is the Guilderland Planning Board meeting but I’m not sure if I can make it as I want to avoid driving the truck until it’s been looked at next week. Thursday is going over to John Wolcott house. I’ll walk there. Next weekend is staying home, cleaning and planning out my autumn road trip.

Looking ahead, Average High is 60 ๐Ÿ‚ is in 3 weeks, Daylight Savings Time Ends ๐Ÿ›ฅ๏ธ is in 6 weeks, Average High is 50 ๐Ÿ‚ is in 7 weeks, December ๐ŸŽ„ is in 10 weeks, Bill of Rights Day ๐Ÿ“œ is in 12 weeks, Days are Getting Longer โ˜€๏ธ is in 3 months, National Pie Day ๐Ÿฐ is in 17 weeks, 5:30 PM Dusk ๐ŸŒ† is in 18 weeks and Election Day 2020 ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ is in 6 weeks.

September 20, 2019 Night

Good evening! Mostly clear and 65 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒƒ Calm wind. The dew point is 53 degrees. A fairly nice evening. I went for my evening walk ๐Ÿšถ and got my camping gear and kayak loaded on my truck for tomorrow.

I also cleaned the very dirty bathroom sink and watched a bit of the Our Wyoming Life channel that I downloaded. ๐ŸŽฅ Agriculture is really fascinating business. I also have been watching a lot of videos lately about chillers and HVAC systems as they are a fascinating topic and one that’s very important with climate change such a risk to our future.

The bird ๐Ÿฆ hike is bright and morning tomorrow. Then it’s off to kayaking and hiking. Then camp. โ›บ Not a big thing to pack for but it’s going to be an early start tomorrow. 6 AM before sunrise the alarm โฐ clock is set.

Tonight will have patchy fog after 3am. Otherwise, mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 51 degrees at 5am. One degree above normal, which is similar to a typical night around September 18th. Maximum dew point of 53 at 9pm. Light west wind. In 2018, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 65 degrees. The record low of 29 occurred back in 1973.

Tonight will have a Last Quarter Moon with 49% illuminated. The moon will set at 1:52 pm. The Last Quarter Moon will be tonight with partly cloudy skies. The Hunter Moon ๐ŸŒ is on Saturday, October 12th. The sun will rise at 6:40 am with the first light at 6:12 am, which is one minute and 4 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ Tonight will have 11 hours and 44 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 53 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have patchy fog before 8am. ๐ŸŒ Otherwise, sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 83 degrees at 3pm. 13 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around July 26th. Powley Bridge

September 19, 2019 Night

Good evening! Clear and 57 degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind. The dew point is 45 degrees.

I made up fish ๐Ÿ  sticks and went for my evening walk. ๐Ÿšถ Definitely getting darker earlier but I do prefer now to do m walk earlier. This way when I procrastinate I don’t miss my walk. Plus doing the walk past the high school ๐Ÿšธ during the winter months at nine o’clock is pretty desolate. I’ve heard they’ve had a lot of problems with muggings again in the city and who knows if they could spill out into the suburbs.

I got to Walmart to get the supplies I needed plus food for the weekend ๐Ÿฒ and gased up Big Red. Finally got new boots, ๐Ÿ‘ข my old ones were in really rough shape. I’ll old pack tomorrow and get things ready as I have to leave by 7:30 AM on Saturday for the Save the Pine Bush Bird ๐Ÿฆ Hike. After that I’ll probably paddle along Lily Lake and camp up at Pisceo-Powley Road for one last time this year and check out the Potholers on Sunday. ๐ŸŠ Going to be remarkably warm this weekend but I bet with these cold nights the water temperatures have fallen dramatically. Maybe they’ll also be some good color up north.

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 44 degrees at 6am. Six degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 3rd. Calm wind. Going to be another cold night. I probably should close the windows but I’m not willing to give up on the fresh air for this year. It might be chilly when I climb out of bed but I have hot coffee and will shower ๐Ÿšฟ when I awake. Need to get used to the cold for autumn camping โ›บ and hunting season. In 2018, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 58 degrees. The record low of 30 occurred back in 1979.

Tonight will have a Waning Gibbous Moon ๐ŸŒ– with 60% illuminated. The moon will set at 12:49 am. The Last Quarter Moon will be tomorrow with partly cloudy skies. The Hunter Moon ๐ŸŒ is on Saturday, October 12th. Nice, while I’m on vacation. The sun will rise at 6:39 am with the first light at 6:11 am, which is one minute and 5 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ Tonight will have 11 hours and 41 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 51 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have patchy dense fog before 8am. ๐ŸŒ Otherwise, sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 76 degrees at 3pm. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around September 7th. Maximum dew point of 49 at 6pm. Calm wind becoming northwest around 5 mph in the afternoon. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 72 degrees. The record high of 90 was set in 1946.

I am trying to carefully plan out my autumn trip this year so it’s not so disorganized as two years ago. ๐Ÿ‚2017 was a tough year with my parents health, they had a lot of issues so my October Trip to West Virginia wasn’t very well planned but it worked out fine. It just didn’t involve seeing a lot of new places and the places I saw – namely that Ohiopyle State Park was underwhelming. But I’m more of a wilderness camper.โ›บ I think this year I want to see Hyner View in Pennsylvania during the autumn and hopefully the leaves will still be on the trees up in Cannan Heights and the Black River Falls area and some good colors when I drive up Spruce Mountain the highest peak in the Mountain State. ๐Ÿ—ป Driving down to New River Gorge should be really interesting and give me a chance to see more of the mountain state, including parts of Southern West Virginia which are supposedly much more southern in culture.

In four weeks on October 17 the sun will be setting at 6:10 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 48 minutes and 14 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2018 on that day, we had mostly sunny, rain showers and temperatures between 57 and 39 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 59 and 39 degrees. The record high of 85 degrees was set back in 1947.

Looking ahead, Northern Zone Regular Season ๐ŸฆŒ is a month away, Halloween ๐Ÿ›ฅ๏ธ is in 6 weeks, Thanksgiving ๐Ÿฆƒ is in 10 weeks, Repeal of Prohibition Day ๐Ÿบ is in 11 weeks, Boxing Day ๐ŸฅŠ is in 14 weeks, National Cheese Lovers Day ๐Ÿง€ is in 18 weeks and National Pie Day ๐Ÿฐ is in 4 months.
