September 10, 2020 Night

Good evening! Partly cloudy and 68 degrees in Delmar, NY. πŸŒƒ There is a west-northwest breeze at 5 mph. πŸƒ. The dew point is 67 degrees. The skies will clear tomorrow around 4 am. Surprisingly muggy for what is a relatively mild night but truth be told the humidity is not expected to last.

I ended up working late into the evening after a long meeting downtown. πŸ’Ό I haven’t really been downtown since the pandemic and certainly not in the office 🏒 since then so it was kind of odd to see all those people on the street wearing masks 😷 to say nothing of the socially distant meeting around the big conference table with only a few participants, spread out six feet from each other. Parking πŸ…Ώ my big truck in the lot was a bitch, I’ll probably seriously consider taking the bus 🚍 next time downtown. The last time I rode the bus it seemed like the buses were very clean and empty but maybe things have changed now that backdoor boarding is no more.

I also went to Walmart to pick up more supplies and once again forgot laundry soap. πŸ‘š At some point I’ll get down to the store and then the laundromat and clean my clothes. I actually find I need more shirts now that I have so many Zoom Meetings lately and have to look nicer. πŸ‘¨πŸ»β€πŸ’ΌπŸ§Ÿβ€β™‚οΈMy evening walk was nice and pretty quiet.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy ☁️, with a low of 59 degrees at 6am. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around August 26th. Maximum dew point of 67 at 10pm. The darkest hour is at 12:53 am, followed by dawn at 6:03 am, and sun starting to rise at 6:31 am in the east (83Β°) and last for 2 minutes and 55 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 3 seconds later than yesterday. πŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 7:09 am with sun in the east (89Β°). Tonight will have 11 hours and 18 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 50 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny 🌞, with a high of 70 degrees at 4pm. Four degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around September 21st. Maximum dew point of 56 at 6am. The record high of 98 was set in 1931.

I have what appears to be another lengthy Zoom meeting on Friday, πŸ“½οΈ which once again I’ll do from the park under that tree. It should be a nice place to do the meeting and the tree makes for a good background, the internet is fast πŸ’» and it’s quiet. Plus if I get bored I can watch the traffic in the distance. πŸš™ πŸš—πŸššπŸšŒ

Soup πŸ₯«

β€œAnd then they have cans of soup. And they throw the cans of soup. That’s better than a brick because you can’t throw a brick. It’s too heavy. But a can of soup, you can really put some power into that, right? And then when they get caught, they say, β€˜No, this is soup for my family.’ They’re so innocent. This is soup for my family.”

“And you have people coming over with bags of soup β€” big bags of soup. And they lay it on the ground, and the anarchists take it and they start throwing it at our cops, at our police. And if it hits you, that’s worse than a brick because that’s got force…And then the media says, β€˜This is just soup. These people are very, very innocent. They’re innocent people. These are just protesters. Isn’t it wonderful to allow protesting?’ No.”

Billy Redden

While I can see the resemblance between Joe Biden and Billy Redden, the famous Banjo Player in Deliverance back in 1973, I thin the same can’t be said today. That said, once you see it you can’t go back.

Ventura Highway

“Chewing on a piece of grass
Walking down the road
Tell me, how long you gonna stay here Joe?
Some people say this town don’t look good in snow
You don’t care, I know”
