With some warm weather this week, 🏖️ and Memorial Day Weekend just around the corner, it seems like summer is just kicking off. Hard to think that next weekend will be June and weekends at the Potholers in nine-degree heat aren't that far off nor is summer vacation.

Been a busy past few days 🖥

In many ways, almost a world wind. Maybe it’s because I’m pushing myself too hard, or volunteering on too many projects at home and in work, or because I’ve had to drive in our bus as I’ve had to dress up to work. But I’ve been busy.

Yesterday and today, we’re vendor training days at work so I had to dress up 👨🏻‍🏫 with the vendor on site. The training class today was really long. Yesterday was the retirement party for our most senior computer 🖥 operator, so we are down an position, and more of her work falls on me. Eventually I’ll have a meeting with management to figure this all out but it’s been so busy. Plus Tuesday night was the End of Session Party, so I didn’t get back until late, and that was after I was abused by the high prices at Market 32. And with the sun setting so late, I’ve been getting to bed later and that means later starts in the morning.

Last night I rode over 20 miles, 🚲 starting out going out NY 32 to Meads Lane to Five Rivers to Voorheesville to Railroad Lane to the Rail Trail and then exploring the newly restored bridge over the rail trail. 🚂 The county keeps pouring money into that rail trail. The past few days, with Memorial Day dinner at the parents 🍔, the work picnic 🍗, and the retirement lunch🌯 have not been the healthiest for food intake for sure. As I’ve been dressing up for work, driving and bussing it, it’s been hard to get in enough calorie burning exercise lately.

Landlord reached out and asked if I would be interesting in renting the renovated unit next door for $1,100 a month. 🚪 I don’t know, it’s been quite the project, he’s been working on it for months now since my old neighbor moved out in late March. Part of it he has a local dairyman 🐮 working as his handyman, and most of May he’s been doing field work. He said it was just an option. I’m hoping to keeep my existing unit for now, and if rent goes up too much, I’ll have to move somewhere else. I do give him credit for tearing the old unit next door down to the studs, replacing all the windows and doors and gutting everything in the interior, but I don’t think that rent is worth it.

I don’t think I want to rent anything else in my dumpy old building, even if it after all his work the new unit will be much nicer. I still want to own land out in the country and build that off-grid cabin. 🏡 If I have to move to another apartment, I’d much rather moved to Menands where I could walk to work, 🚶 or have a much shorter bike ride. I could spend some mor time cleaning and making the bathroom and kitchen shine a bit. 🚽 But I honestly don’t care that much. I’m just kind of a dirty hick. Remember, I want acerage, so I can have livestock and burn lots of things.

Oil Wells in New York State

New York is an oil producer. 20,901 barrels of oil (42-gallons) or 9,277,842 gallons of crude oil were produced in New York State during 2016.

Community Standards

The big news today is that former President Donald Trump is a convicted felon under the laws of New York.

He might protest how unfair the laws of New York really are our how the jury of his peers in Manhattan were far left of many communities in America, but ultimately you choose where to live. That means you are subject to the rules that have been set out by the community and the judgements of the people who live in your community.

President Trump chose to live and do business in New York State. There are 49 other states, some with radically different laws and politics. Even more so then most people — he was free to leave the state and relocate his business where he chose. But he decided to stay in New York, and he chose not to obey the laws of New York. Now he will be sentenced for the consequences of his actions.
