Thin Ice on Pond
Another sign that slowly but surely winter is starting to break.
Taken on Saturday March 12, 2011 at Five Rivers Environmental Education Center.March 9, 2021 Evening
A pretty nice afternoon. Mostly clear and 48 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a northwest breeze at 10 mph. π. There is a dusting of snow on the ground. β Temperatures will drop below freezing at around 11 pm. βοΈ
Dropped off my library books but decided not to bring my laptop down there, because it was kind of chilly out with the breeze. But now I’m sitting out back, listening to the geese and all the birds chirping. I was hoping to get down to the park, but session is still ongoing so I’m still on the clock, so any time I might get called back have to write a memo or make a call or something. But right now, it’s pretty quiet and I’m just listening to session and monitoring the Twitter.
At sunset, look for mostly clear skies π and temperatures around 48 degrees. There will be a northwest breeze at 10 mph. Sunset is 5:54 PM. Seven o’clock sunset. I am definitely looking forward to longer evenings come next week, when we set the clocks ahead on Sunday. Even though it looks like we are will be much cooler come next week.
Lawmaker Wants To Take Lunatic out of Mental Health Laws
The current usage has evolved, Mannion said, and words like "lunatic" represent an outdated usage.?
“Sections of New York State law still use language inferring that people with mental disabilities are somehow inferior, a notion I completely reject,” Mannion said.”It is time to update our laws to reflect reality and the strides that have been made in recognizing and treating mental disabilities.”
The are currently more than 30 instances of the term "mentally ill" in current state laws which would be replaced if Mannion's bill becomes law.

Seems like gisservices
Seems like gisservices.its.ny.gov and spatial.gishost.com was down briefly this morning. It meant any pages on my blog that use them for map making didn’t work for a while. But that seems to be fixed now.
