Pound snow! 🌨

Go Pound Snow ! 🌨

I really wanted to go on my evening walk tonight but none of the sidewalks in town are plowed. I started to walk on the road but I decided that was unsafe so I came home, dug out around my truck more and sat on the tailgate for a while fuming about the situation. It’s not uncommon for them to take a day or two to do the sidewalks after a major storm but working from home this didn’t seem like a big deal and I thought with the storm ending by midday they’d have the sidewalks clear.

When Scott Thellman took a job at a local sweet corn farm when he was in junior high, he never imagined it would lead him to farming full-time on his own. From that summer on, he was going to do whatever he needed to, to make his new dream a reality.

The 30-year-old now farms on his first-generation farm of 1,200 acres of hay, alfalfa, row crops and 40 acres of a variety of fruits and vegetables outside of Lawrence, Kansas.

“When I realized I wanted to farm, I started saving up money,” says Thellman. “I was able to save enough to purchase a mower, rake, and baler throughout high school, and that turned into a fairly sizable hay operation by the time I graduated.”

NYPD Tow Pound State Fees Leads to State Fees

Since 1998, many elected officials have been trying to get it moved off of the newly refurbished state parkland. But this year, Governor Andrew Cuomo said it will happen, or else.

Cuomo stuck language in the state budget, passed in April, that imposes a $3 million fine on the city starting in January for every month the tow pound remains here. That’s on top of an already existing fine of $12 million payable to the state, which will result in a total of $48 million in fines by the end of 2021.

More snow here

A lot more snow in the Albany area compared to the Adirondacks but with the colder temperatures up north it will most likely last long up north.

Dug out

With the solar panel clear and the truck free of snow things should be ready to go come Saturday. 🚘 I wanted to get things cleaned up before things froze with the cold but sunny weather coming on Saturday.
