Second Amendment

Ten deaths every nine minutes ☠

Ten deaths every nine minutes ☠

That’s the gory statistic that the politicians are trying to avoid when it comes to COVID-19 deaths. People are still dying – 1,500 Americans daily from the pandemic every day. While the vaccine is available it’s still being rolled out slowly and isn’t widely available at all retailers or drug stores.

But the politicians are desperately trying to avoid discussing the CONTINUING problem of COVID-19. Gun control is on their minds after two very minor incidents of gun violence which really are non remarkable when you compare to all the daily death from COVID-19. It’s easy to infringe on the rights of hard working Americans, but ignore what is killing them left and right – COVID-19.

While I fully understand that police departments want more patronage jobs so they can hire their Uncle Billy and get fun new toys, and television loves all the advertising revenue from dead children selling cars and laundry soap, the focus really needs to be on stopping COVID-19 by making vaccination convenient and widely accessible as soon as possible.

Supreme Court to discuss case that could expand Second Amendment rights – CNNPolitics

(CNN)When Supreme Court justices meet behind closed doors Friday, a conference that comes three days after the country's latest mass shooting, they are scheduled to discuss whether to add a blockbuster issue to the docket for next term: the scope of the Second Amendment.

The court has largely dodged the issue since issuing two landmark opinions in 2008 and 2010, when it held for the first time that the Second Amendment protects an individual's right to keep and bear arms at home for self- defense.

Gun rights advocates and even some of the justices themselves have expressed frustration that the court has declined to further define the scope of the right as lower courts across the country have upheld restrictions.

Coordinated Anti-Gun Propaganda Campaigns and How To Fight Them – The Truth About Guns

As Congress is moving legislation limiting the right to keep and bear arms, we’ve seen a flood of anti-gun propaganda in recent weeks. Those behind it want to get people to accept that there’s not only a need for gun control, but a dire one.

Before I get into who’s likely behind this and how they’re operating, I need to give readers a quick overview of what propaganda is and why it works. Only then can we see the current effort for what it is and learn to be effective in countering it.

Shooting Illustrated | How to Welcome the Record Number of New Gun Owners

So, what is happening to shift in our favor? In March and April we saw record background checks implying there were massive amounts of firearms being purchased. As the questionable stay-at-home orders started to trickle out at local levels, it became clear people were worried. There is very few things that can create this type of surge in firearm purchases, but having to deal with a global pandemic is high on the list. As people hunkered down for the long haul it started to become clearer they were on their own.

Add to the problem services and commodities being limited or in some cases exhausted, and panic started to ripple across the country. The idea that you may have to protect your family or in some cases your supplies struck a deep chord. While there was certainly reason to be concerned in some locations, other locations were more stable. The net result was seeing a record number of first-time gun buyers and owners across the country.

The Truck with Glock Logo in the Back Glass

Every day when I drive to work, there is this nice truck on North Syracuse that has a big “Glock” logo on the back glass. I think it’s pretty neat, although it does make me resentful to be a New Yorker to no end. I don’t think one should have to ask permission of a judge to own a handgun, or any other firearm.

Many of our cities have a crime problem. But the solution to crime is simple — going after criminals. You don’t have to extreme firearm restrictions to go after crime, creating criminals out of law abiding citizens. Instead, you just need to go after murders and other violent criminals who commit actual crimes of violence.
