I was listening to this podcast at 3 AM in the morning last night. When looking at land, you really do need to think outside of the box it seems, especially with inflation and high price of land these days.
Granted I saw people having bonfires in Madison County on Election Night 2014, but I think that had more to do with the fact it was 60 degrees that evening and good weather to sit by a big old bonfire and drink beer.

Grinding your own field corn seems like a good way to save money but I think I would find a way to run the corn sheller mechanically as turning it seems like a lot of hard and unnecessary work. That home-made corn crib though is pretty neat and sounds like it works well for storage and drying of field corn. I'm actually very impressed by this small scale homestead operation.
