East Branch Sacandaga River

Stretching between Wevertown and Wells along NY 8, the East Branch of Sacandaga River offers a picturesque route hosting roadside campsites and trailheads to secluded spots. While proximity to a well-maintained state highway makes these campsites accessible during shoulder seasons and winter (with snow shovel), traffic noise can be a drawback. Pealing Paint

Part of NY 8 has stainless steel guardrails that were painted brown when they were installed but have a lot of paint pealing off them. Most of the COR-TEN guard rails that once were common in the Adirondacks have been removed due to premature rusting.

Camping

While it was 8 degrees when I woke up, it wasn't too bad with that wind break set up by the campfire.
