Watkins Glen State Park

Watkins Glen State Park is the most famous of the Finger Lakes State Parks, with a reputation for leaving visitors spellbound. Within two miles, the glen’s stream descends 400 feet past 200-foot cliffs, generating 19 waterfalls along its course. The gorge path winds over and under waterfalls and through the spray of Cavern Cascade. Rim trails overlook the gorge. Campers and day-visitors can enjoy the Olympic-size pool, scheduled summer tours through the gorge, tent and trailer campsites, picnic facilities and excellent fishing in nearby Seneca Lake or Catherine Creek, which is renowned for its annual spring run of rainbow trout.

All packed up and back at the Watkins Glen pool for a quick swim before I head west to the Allegheny National Forest. Going to also visit the Glen Dairy Bar and get their Black Raspberry Soft Ice Cream before I leave town. Their brownie sundae was amazing with half of it being large chunks of homemade brownies.

July 24, 2016 Afternoon

Good afternoon! Partly sunny and 87 degrees in Watkins Glen. Calm wind. The dew point is 58 degrees.

Definitely hot sitting in those Adirondack Chairs at the Terrace overlooking the Watkins Glen State Park Pool. I should seriously think about going for a swim. I haven’t done that yet. I really should do that. Life is tough. A few less clouds would be nice although it’s still pretty nice.
