Onondaga County

Onondaga County (/ΛˆΙ’nΙ™nˈdɑːɑə/ on-Ι™n-dah-gΙ™) is a county located in the U.S. state of New York. As of the 2010 census, the population was 467,026.[1] The county seat is Syracuse.

Onondaga County is part of the Syracuse, NY Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Before Big Bend

Before the rerouting of US 20 in the 1920s it used to be a much steeper route down to the Butternut Creek Valley, although it seems like for horse and carriage riders there long was a less steep way into the valley. 

Flat

Actually the land in the distance is about 100 feet lower, but it still is the flat Lake Ontario plain, looking north towards Oneida Lake and the largely wooded and marshy parts of Manlius, Cierco, and Bridgeport.
