Coeymans Landing has a nice little public park. It is a truly beautiful area, although it's in the shadow of the Hudson River that is polluted by PCBs and waste from the cityΓ’β¬βgiving it all a negative sheen to the public's eye.
Yet, as the mallard duck in this picture symbolizes, there is hope. The river is getting cleaner, and the PCBs in the section just south of Hudson Falls through Troy Dam is going to be dredged in the near future. Governor Spitzer will probably force Troy and Albany to finally clean up it's act.
Yet the hope of this duck could be extinguished if the city gets it way and builds a garbage dump on the banks of the river. This would allow leachate to flow into the Coeyman's creek and methane to float of this small rural town and take away any hope of recovery.
