On this day in 1977, the Great 1977 New York City Blackout begins, plunging New York into 24 hours of darkness, chaos, and crime. It really was a dark time in the bankrupt city. In contrast, 12 years earlier the Blackout of 1965 was a peaceful inconvenience for many.
There are 1 weeks until Ugly Truck Day when the sun will be setting at 8:26 pm with dusk at 8:59 pm. The average high temperature is 83 degrees, with a record high of 97 in 1991. Today I have my eye appointment for my eye check up. It will be nice to be able to see. Hopefully the eye doctor will be well air conditioned. I may get to leave work early but it’s possible that I will have to head back to work after my eye appointment.
Some minor traffic delays heading downtown. Both on the South Mall Arterial and Southern Boulevard. I don’t know the causes but so be it. It doesn’t seem that bad.
Still looking forward to the weekend but I don’t know if I will be stuck in town. But I’m still looking forward to the Mine Kill State Park and the always scenic drive out there. Hopefully if I do have to go to work, I’ll be able to get out early on Saturday.
Well, Moovit says I’m two stops away from work, so I better finish up my post. Enjoy this Hazy, Crazy Day of Summer. And stay cool.
