Albany, NY

Albany is the capital city of the U.S. state of New York, the seat of Albany County, and the central city of New York’s Capital District. Roughly 135 miles (217 km) north of the City of New York, Albany sits on the west bank of the Hudson River, about 10 miles (16 km) south of its confluence with the Mohawk River. The population of the city was 97,856 at the time of the 2010 census.

Rapp Road Historic District – 1952 vs 2018

"The Rapp Road Historic District (RRHD) is a cluster of 23 homes built by African Americans who migrated predominantly from Shubuta Mississippi as part of the Great Migration (1927 to 1963). During this time span, 23 families chose to build their homes and raise a family in the Pine Bush section of Albany." Sand Dunes

These sand dunes under restoration, free of trees except for grasses and lupin plants, reminds me of a scene out west then something five miles from Downtown Albany.

Saturday March 19, 2011 — Albany Pine Bush

Melted

A fairly common sign you see in the Pine Bush is where the plastic trail markers have melted from past controlled burns. Generally the ground fires aren't hot enough to burn the markers on the posts, but are hot enough to melt the trail markers.
