Heading into the Empire State Plaza on a Saturday afternoon.
Winding down the hill on New York Route 143 in Dormansville during March 2018.
My first Arduino project was an LED controller. It's still a work in progress but it makes it easier to sleep in the evening by giving me controllable red and yellow light, while more blues in the morning.
Here is the current draft of the code: https://gist.github.com/anonymous/1aa31949462b45e7c985ca19c75708db

PIR Sensors can be used with anything that you need to detect motion. The modules I ordered from China were under buck a piece, and seem to work fine, although I think I will need to add a pull-up resistor for them to work properly with my lighting module.
I ordered three of these from a supplier in China for $3 or 98 cents a piece. I was going to order them from an American vendor for a slightly more, but I accidentally left them off my previous order, this was cheaper and I was in no rush to get them. I am going to use one of them with my LED lighting strip, so that the lights turn off automatically when I'm not in the room to save power. And I might also use them so they come on automatically in the evening -- but only if I am home. PIR are very easy to use, they are a self-contained module, that simply pulls a pin high for a period of time after a person is detected.
