Not Too Much Longer Until Camping Time
I really get bored with being home all the time, and not traveling and camping in the backcountry. I guess I could do winter camping, but most of the weekends have been fairly cold, and the winter nights are still pretty long. But in a month from now, assuming the snow melts relatively early, I hope to spend a least one night in the wilderness camping.
Late March camping is always an adventure, as you never know how much snow to expect. You really have to bring snowshoes, because in the mountains snow can still be quite deep β and plan carefully on where your driving to — and figure you will have to turn back. But sometimes you can get some quite nice and warm weather.
The first βbigβ camping trip is planned for one of the two last weeks of April. It probably will be an extended weekend trip down to the Finger Lakes (e.g. 3-4 nights). While it wonβt be totally spring like by then, it should be quite nice, and greening up at least down by the lake. I look forward to seeing some of the wild landscapes Iβve missed since the fall.
