April 28, 2019 Night
Good evening! Mostly clear and 44 degrees in Delmar. There is a west-northwest breeze at 9 mph. π. I went for my evening walk, it was pretty cool.
After my evening walk I sat back and watched a movie or two, that I had downloaded from the YouTube. π₯ I was was watching more of Shaun James My Self Reliance channel and then something about agriculture that I already forgot about.
In all the long weekend was a bust but I was glad to get away from the city for a bit to spend a few days in the Adirondacks. π» The summer is not yet over, so there is still a chance for some adventures. This year I’m thinking of trying some different things and go new places as change prolongs time. Doing the same thing over and over again caches things β making things go by quickly. I’m not ready for Winter 2019-20 yet. β³ Summer should drag on for a bit.
Tonight will have areas of frost after 4am. Otherwise, mostly clear π, with a low of 34 degrees at 6am. Eight degrees below normal, which is similiar to a typical night around April 7th. Northwest wind 5 to 9 mph becoming light after midnight. In 2018, we had light rain. It got down to 38 degrees. The record low of 27 occurred back in 1947.
Tonight will have a Waning Crescent Moon π with 21% illuminated. The moon will rise at 3:49 am. The New Moon is on Friday night with showers is likely. The Flower Moon π is on Friday, May 17th. The sun will rise at 5:53 am with the first light at 5:22 am, which is one minute and 25 seconds earlier than yesterday. π Tonight will have 9 hours and 59 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 32 seconds over last night.
Tomorrow will have areas of frost before 8am. Otherwise, increasing clouds after a sunny start to the day π, with a high of 59 degrees at 5pm. Five degrees below normal, which is similiar to a typical day around April 17th. Light and variable wind. A year ago, we had partly cloudy in the morning, which became cloudy by afternoon. The high last year was 50 degrees. The record high of 88 was set in 1888. 1.0 inches of snow fell back in 1885.β
Next weekend looks like it might be perfect weather-wise. π Next Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 62. Maximum dew point of 42 at 6am. Next Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 64. Maximum dew point of 42 at 8pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 66 degrees. I’ll take it. We will see how it works out.
My aunt is coming up from Arizona, β so I’m going to stick in town this weekend. It’s rather unfortunate we couldn’t have had this forecast the previous week. Maybe the following weekend I’ll head back to the wilderness. But before you know it, black fly season will be upon us.
I started looking at fixing up my bicycle π². Bikes are really a fast and easy way to get around the city. Certainly much better than motoring. Buses are great but bikes go many places buses don’t go. The big thing I need for my bike is a new rear wheel with tougher spokes. Always seem to break spokes on it. I also need to fix some parts on the derailer too. I’m sure it can be done, I really need to get a good manual then get on ebay or Amazon for parts. Certainly having a good bike is key π if I’m thinking of going carless for a few years after I get rid of Big Red sometime in the early to mid 2020s. I’m really tired of fossil fuel motoring and all the fees and costs surrounding motoring. Not to mention the many worries. Bicycling would be so much better for my health and so many of my friends and colleagues now are going motor free.
In four weeks on May 26 the sun will be setting at 8:21 pm,π which is 29 minutes and 19 seconds later then tonight. In 2018 on that day, we had hot, mostly sunny, rain showers and temperatures between 89 and 60 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 72 and 50 degrees. The record high of 94 degrees was set back in 2010.
