Justices Clarence Thomas and Justice Samuel Alito criticized the Hawaii court's ruling, but supported the U.S. Supreme Court's move on technical grounds. Thomas wrote that the court should hear an "appropriate" case to "make clear that Americans are always free to invoke the Second Amendment as a defense against unconstitutional firearms-licensing schemes."
In 2017, Christopher Wilson was hiking in the West Maui Mountains when he was stopped by the property owner, turned over to the police, and informed he was trespassing. While speaking with the police, Wilson informed them that he was carrying a loaded pistol. After his arrest, the state of Hawaii brought criminal charges against him for carrying a handgun without a license.
Think there is enough snow off the rail trail to ride to work π΄
Hubs caps are off my truck, I ended up replacing the passenger windshield washer blade on my truck yesterday as it as so bad driving to Walmart and they probably otherwise would ding me for a lot more if I had the shop replace it.
Rain stopped for a while and it isn’t expected to start until late enough in the evening, so I”m riding to work. π΄ Tomorrow though I’m sure I’ll get super soaked on the walk or ride back from the shop in the rain. I won’t melt, and I plan to take day off from work as it’s the end of the year and I have to use or loose the time. I’ll stay home, get caught up on my reading, π do some cleaning π§Ό and maybe write some code for fun personal projects. I think the inspection will go fine, all the lights work well, I have good windshield wipers, their isn’t excessive rust on the frame or other obvious issues. It’s a 13 plus year old truck, but for them most part it’s in decent shape, if the suspension is getting kind of worn with those big 35 inch tires and the lift kit.
It was a busy Monday, π§βπΌ with the big database update underway in the office in preparation for 2025. It seems funny to think the year is drawing to a close so quickly, and that it was 2023 not that long ago. Doing good work though, really trying to streamline processes and use automation with bash scripts and code written by the programming devision whenever possible, and expanding out data holdings. At the same time, I’m working hard to improve my data and programming literacy. I might not have studied it in college, but learning PANDAS and later the R programming language and tidyverse really helps. Each other step seems to get easier. π₯οΈ Learning the latest inΒ C++ isn’t that hard when you’ve learned the other things, I was surprised how easy it was to put JQ to use to process JSON and build a geocoder using the state’s geocoding service.
I was pissed at Walmart for a while last night, π‘ because I thought that double or triple charged me for that bag of fruit salad, the second most expensive thing on my shopping list π. Turns out they didn’t but it was a crazy π€ͺ experience at the check out line, with the lady insisting she see my ID π to buy a bottle of double-strength Caffine Pills π. I know I have too much of a Caffine problem, β but I wanted to have some in case one morning I didn’t have time for my cups of coffee or was heading out camping and didn’t want to have to pee every five minutes along the road. π½ Plus, when camping, Caffine is fun with cannabis, it helps enhance the high and make you less tired. Got bless the grass.
I have my doubts I’ll get out of town this weekend, βοΈ as it looks like we are stuck in the rainy pattern but maybe I’ll take off some time next week. I have a family event a week from Sunday, π€Ά so I have to back in town for that, but I’m thinking on Christmas Day, weather depending, I might drive out to the Finger Lakes National Forest ποΈ to camp through New Years Day. A lot depends on the weather. Can’t be too cold or snowy, though this time of a year, a wet rain might even worth worse.
