All and all it was a good vacation. β›Ί 🚡

I mean I do wish it was longer and didn’t start and end in the rain β˜”.

Last Sunday night and Monday was cool to start out the trip and Friday had clouds most of the day but for the most part the weather was excellent for late October. πŸŽƒ Leaves were mostly done in the West Virginia high country but thats to be expected at this point. Some of the hollows and more protected areas had more color πŸ‚ as did Maryland.

The C-O Trail was beautiful and neat, especially the Paw Paw Tunnel. The backside of Dolly Sods was fun to explore but it was hazy. Table Rock was nice, especially the bike ride 🚲 along Canaan Loop Road. Got a lot of good use of the bike. Big Red treated me well, πŸ›»and it was relaxing. I do wish I wasn’t so dog tired each evening or time went by so quickly ⏳ and I would have had more time to read πŸ“– but I can do that back home 🏑.

I also do wish maybe I could have seen more of West Virginia and Pennsylvania but there was only so much time, 🚘 travel time takes a lot and it was rather nice to have the same campsite β›Ί as a home base, six out of the eight days, allowing me to maximize the most of the 10 Β½ hours of daylight. So many more places to explore and things do if only more time. ⏳

Named Waterbodies In The Catskill Park

The Catskill Park is relatively devoid of natural lakes and ponds, most are man made reservoirs of relatively small size. The New York City reservoirs are the big water features of the park but there are a handful of other ponds and lakes around.

Data Source: National Hydrological Dataset, joined against the Catskill Park Boundaries and queried for named lakes in GNIS.
