Good morning! Cloudy and a mild 44 degrees in Delmar, NY. β There is a southwest breeze at 7 mph. π with gusts up to 21 mph π¨π¨π¨. Temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow around 2 am. βοΈ
Today is Clean Your Computer π₯ Day, which is a good thing to do. I end up with a shit ton of files π in my downloads folder as I use my laptop for work and play and I often download files from email to edit and review and then they get left in the folder, often poorly labeled. π
I have to say I’m well over dressed for the morning walk πΆ. I should have done just the vest. Really feels like more of a rainy β April day. Maybe a bit more of a dose of reality come Saturday but not really. May be one of the longest stretches of 40 degrees weather in February should it hit 40 on Saturday. Ton of dog πΆ walkers out this morning. Hey, I live in yuppieville.
Today will have a slight chance of showers before 9am. Partly sunny π, with a high of 50 degrees at 11am. 15 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 27th. But what is normal these days? Windy, with a west wind 6 to 16 mph increasing to 16 to 26 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 47 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 25 degrees. The record high of 53 was set in 1955. 4.0 inches of snow fell back in 1892.β
I am excited about the Voorheesville bus π passing my house again, especially the 8:26 run downtown. While I normally take the express from the Park and Ride πI don’t in bad weather or session days when I have to dress up for work. But now I don’t have that excuse again. I’d much rather take the express. Truth is on nice days, β I can still walk down to the Park and Ride or stop and catch the bus at any of the designated locations along the way if I’m running late. π
Solar noon π is at 12:11 pm with sun having an altitude of 33Β° from the due south horizon (-37.8Β° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 9.2 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour π starts at 4:40 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (244Β°). πΈ
The sunset is in the west-southwest (251Β°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 5:21 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 4 seconds with dusk around 5:49 pm, which is one minute and 19 seconds later than yesterday. π The best time to look at the stars is after 6:23 pm. At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies π and temperatures around 44 degrees. Breezy, 24 mph breeze β from the west with gusts up to 45mph. Tomorrow will have 10 hours and 27 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 35 seconds over today.
Come Monday I’m thinking about walking before breakfast π as that gives me a little bit more flexibility with my schedule and I like walking earlier when there is less traffic. Might be a bit dark but sun is rising earlier and earlier.
Tonight will be mostly cloudy π₯, with a low of 26 degrees at 6am. Nine degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 15th. Breezy, with a west wind around 22 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph. In 2022, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 12 degrees. The record low of -18 occurred back in 1962.
Same old today a work today π’ then get home. I might go to the library tonight π, I’m undecided. I was thinking it’s been a while since I have hiked down to Norman’s Kill Gorge so I could do that if I did it early enough before the yuppies take over the rail trail. It would be more protected if it’s really windy in the morning. Tomorrow is a breakfast reheat day so I could be out by 6:30.
Tomorrow will be sunny π, with a high of 37 degrees at 2pm. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around February 18th. Breezy, with a northwest wind 15 to 20 mph decreasing to 9 to 14 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 26 degrees. The record high of 59 was set in 1981. 9.6 inches of snow fell back in 1933.β
Looking ahead to Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 45. South wind around 6 mph becoming light and variable in the afternoon. Typical average high for the weekend is 35 degrees.
As previously noted, next Friday is 5:30 PM Sunset π when the sun will be setting at 5:30 pm with dusk at 5:58 pm. On that day in 2022, we had partly sunny, snow showers and temperatures between 24 and 13 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 36 degrees. We hit a record high of 60 back in 1981.
