Good Morning – September 22, 2021

Good morning! Happy First Day of Autumn ! πŸ‚

Can you believe it’s autumn already? I can’t but then again I’ve spent the past four days up north in the Adirondacks, and certainly the second half of the weekend up there was a bit chilly early in the mornings. Plus, you really notice how short the days are up camping — it was getting dark by around 7 PM most nights up north. They lose daylight a bit faster then back here in Albany, but even here the evenings are dark.

Rain and 67 degrees, catching the bus downtown on Delaware Ave. β˜” There is a south-southeast breeze at 7 mph. πŸƒ. The dew point is 66 degrees. The skies will clear Friday around noontime — although we might have a some breaks of sun this afternoon — the best weather is being saved for the weekend.

It was a nice weekend up north, only a little bit of rain on Saturday afternoon, a good downpour for sure πŸ’¦ but most of the weekend was quite sunny, although after Saturday it was a fair bit cooler. But I got some good sunshine and time on the tube β• floating down the East Canada Creek and did a fair amount of kayaking too, πŸ›Ά and fishing. 🎣 Hike back to Goldmine Stream Falls, did some reading and lot of pondering about the world around me. And as I didn’t have cell service, πŸ“΄ I stayed off social media and really enjoyed the quiet for the weekend.

I didn’t sleep very well last night 😴 and this morning woke up kind of stuffy and sore. I think it’s just the weather and getting back to work in the routine, but I almost thought about calling in sick today, but that’s kind of difficult to do right after a vacation. Yesterday I also felt a bit off, but maybe it’s nothing or maybe it’s COVID-19. But it’s certainly not serious, and I’m vaccinated. Sometimes it’s just tough to get back to work. πŸ‘ƒ The truth is I kind of feel so shitty right now, but I’m dragging my butt to work. I’ll sleep more tonight I guess.

I skipped my morning walk, πŸƒ‍♀️ but continued working on putting away my clothes from the wash yesterday πŸ‘• some of which were still drying this morning on various hanging locations around my apartment. I also did a bit of cleaning in the kitchen and also cleaned out the coolers. πŸ’§ It was raining too hard to start out the morning walk, although by the time I caught the bus, things that slowed down a lot.

I do need to go shopping after work tonight I’m afraid, πŸͺ as there is a lot of miscellaneous stuff I am low on, especially lunch food for at work — but generally my pantry is more bare then I would like. I don’t know if I feel like going all the way to Walmart, I might instead just do a quick drive over to Price Chopper or Shoprite after work. Gets dark early this time of year, but it’s not that far.

My revised West Virginia trip πŸ‚

My revised West Virginia trip πŸ‚

I am now thinking about heading down to West Virginia on Saturday October 23rd thru November 2nd. I would have to take off six days from work but I get a free day – November 2nd Election Day off out of the deal. This would buy me two more days in West Virginia, as I could leave on November 1st, overnight in Pennsylvania and drive the remainder home on November 2nd.

The leaves are certain to be past peak in the high country but if I go down to Camp Run Fort Seybert and then down to Southern West Virginia to the New River Gorge they might be close to peak. It’s still early enough that ice and snow would be fairly rare and except for the last two days coming home I wouldn’t yet he dealing with the time change. Plus I would be in the National Quiet Zone, far away from all the political silliness.
