Gavin Newsom signs order banning sales of gas powered cars | The Sacramento Bee

Gov. Gavin Newsom on Wednesday issued an executive order that would phase out sales of new gas-powered passenger cars by 2035, a move that he said would improve air quality and significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions that are warming the planet.

He signed the order two weeks after he pledged to fast-track California’s environmental goals in response to what he called a “climate damn emergency” — the wildfires that have burned a record-breaking 3.6 millon acres this year.

Absolutely beautiful day to round out September, πŸ‚πŸ a nice drive up to the Adirondacks. I didn’t quite leave in time and hit commuter traffic – which is up a lot as schools reopen 🚸 and the pandemic winds down. πŸ‘Ύ I had to stop on the way up when my phone rang and had to take a call. πŸ“ž I hadn’t paired the Bluetooth properly with my truck 🚚 since getting my new phone mid-summer. Not minding the remote work at all today, especially as everything so far I’ve been able to do right from my smartphone. πŸ“± Apparently this new phone works well in Wells, my last one did not.

Today will be partly sunny 🌞, with a high of 73 degrees at 3pm. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around September 15th. Maximum dew point of 51 at 11am. Calm wind becoming west around 6 mph in the afternoon. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 73 degrees. The golden hour πŸ… starts at 6:14 pm with the sun in the west (263Β°). πŸ“Έ The sunset is in the west (270Β°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 6:52 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 57 seconds with dusk around 7:19 pm, which is one minute and 49 seconds earlier than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Gibbous πŸŒ” Moon in the south (176Β°) at an altitude of 22Β° from the horizon, 234,681 miles away. πŸš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 7:54 pm. At sunset, look for partly clear skies πŸŒ„ and temperatures around 69 degrees. The dew point will be 49 degrees. There will be a west-southwest breeze at 6 mph. Today will have 12 hours and 3 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 57 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have patchy fog after 2am. Otherwise, partly cloudy 🌀, with a low of 48 degrees at 6am. Typical for tonight. Light west wind. In 2019, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 50 degrees. The record low of 29 occurred back in 1963.

A picture perfect weekend on tap. 😎 Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 71. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 9 mph in the morning. Maximum dew point of 56 at 11am. Sunday, partly sunny, with a high near 77. Maximum dew point of 59 at 6pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 68 degrees.
