September 4, 2018 Morning

Good morning! Happy Tuesday. Three weeks to More Night then Day 🌌. Partly cloudy and 73 degrees in Delmar. ⛅ There is a northwest breeze at 5 mph. 🍃. The dew point is 70 degrees. Hot and muggy today, as we kick off the unofficial start to autumn season. 🍂 Already this weekend some of trees were showing hints of color in Perkins Clearing. Peak color is in like three weeks at Moose River Plains. Autumn doesn’t wait in the Adirondacks.

Today marks nine weeks until Election Day. State primary day is even closer. A week from Thursday. 📮 I’ll just be glad once it’s over and I can get onto my November road trip. I enjoy the cooler temperatures, deep blue skies, hunting seasons and long nights of November. It should be interesting to see how the solar panel will perform come November.🏕 I’m thinking the lower sun angle will be offset by less shadowing by the trees. That said, power consumption increases on the longer nights,🌃 although I often retire to the truck bed earlier in November to be up before dawn, especially if I’m hunting.

The story of this week is getting packed, cleaned up and ready for the next nine weeks on the road. It’s the sixth time, while actually the seventh time of traveling for work, so I know the routine well. 🕴I want to clean up and put away my camping gear, wash my truck,🚗 get my oil changed tomorrow, the kitchen and refrigerator cleaned and possibly painted, mildew wiped off, and clothes washed and packed. 💼 It will be adventure but I kind of like the change of pace.

Today will be partly sunny 🌞 , with a high of 88 degrees at 3pm. 11 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 71 at 9am. Hawt. Especially for September. But it’s not expected to last that far into September, indeed next weekend will be much cooler. Northwest wind around 6 mph. A year ago, we had mostly cloudy skies, clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 80 degrees. The record high of 97 was set in 1929.

The sun will set at 7:23 pm with dusk around 7:52 pm, which is one minute and 44 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for partly clear skies and 82 degrees. The dew point will be 67 degrees. There will be a north breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 12 hours and 59 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 47 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be partly cloudy ☁, with a low of 67 degrees at 5am. 11 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 68 at 6pm. Light and variable wind. In 2017, we had mostly clear skies with more clouds in the early hours of the next day. It got down to 62 degrees. The record low of 37 occurred back in 1974.

As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until More Night then Day 🌌 when the sun will be setting at 6:46 pm with dusk at 7:14 pm. On that day in 2017, we had shallow fog, patches of fog, mostly sunny skies and temperatures between 91 and 64 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 68 degrees. We hit a record high of 91 back in 2017.
