August 7, 2018 Morning

Good morning! Happy Tuesday. Partly sunny and 75 degrees in Delmar. There is a south breeze at 5 mph. πŸƒ. The dew point is 71 degrees. The muggy weather ends tomorrow around 7 pm.😣 I didn’t think it was that bad sleeping last night, by late in the evening it was cool enough to turn off the fan.

It is a nice morning today although already getting hot. I could feel my self start to sweat on my way walking down to the express bus stop. 🚌 It’s nice to be taking the express downtown, as hopefully if I get to work early I can get home earlier. I was too tired and stressed out last night about the toilet not being fixed yet, and I got home late so Big Red didn’t get his bath nor did I get groceries.Β πŸ› Maybe tonight. I’m going to try to leave by six tonight, as I’m making good progress on my project at work. πŸ’ΌΒ At least this morning I got a shower in and the unit is being repaired today.

Today will have showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 4pm. Partly sunny β˜€, with a high of 88 degrees at 12pm. Six degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 73 at 9am. Heat index values as high as 95. South wind 5 to 7 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. A year ago, we had mostly cloudy skies. The high last year was 72 degrees. The record high of 102 was set in 1918.

The sun will set at 8:07 pm with dusk around 8:38 pm, which is one minute and 18 seconds earlier than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for thunderstorms ⚑ and 78 degrees. The dew point will be 71 degrees. There will be a west-southwest breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 14 hours and 13 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 21 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 3am, then a slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy ☁, with a low of 69 degrees at 6am. Eight degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 71 at 6pm. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. In 2017, we had light rain and mist in the evening, remaining overcast into the early morning. It was somewhat humid. It got down to 58 degrees. The record low of 46 occurred back in 1948.

Landlord is replacing the toilet today, after trying to just replace the gasket yesterday. He says that the mechanism is shot and unit is old and he couldn’t get a tank top alone. 🚽 I found one online but I wasnt going to order until I found out if he planned to replace the unit when he fixed it fixed. Hopefully this model will be flawless. If I have problems next time I’m not going to fiddle with it but call him right away and risk breaking the top again. He’s pretty responsive. I’m glad that issue is getting resolved.

Still not sure about the weekend plans.Β I have some options but after traveling so far for vacation last week,Β I’d rather stay closer to home. I do like the idea of swimming in Schoharie if the weather is nice and camping up at Burnt-Rossman again. 🏊 I might go up to the Adirondacks but I like the idea of going swimming too, and I know the pools will only be open for four more weekends before the close for the fall season.πŸ•Β After autumn starts, I am still free to go up to the Potholers or any other swimming hole, it’s just the formal life-guarded pools at the state parks will be closed. But then again, eventually things will start to cool off and eventually swimming won’t be great. But then again, the first week of autumn last year was in the low-90s, so you never know.πŸ‚

Looking ahead, there are 7 weeks until More Night then Day 🌌 when the sun will be setting at 6:46 pm with dusk at 7:14 pm. On that day in 2017, we had shallow fog, patches of fog, mostly sunny skies and temperatures between 91 and 64 degrees. I remember, I was at Moose River Plains that weekend. Typically, the high temperature is 68 degrees. We hit a record high of 91 back in 2017.
