"CORNUDAS, TXβIn response to growing issues with its population of juvenile detainees, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency reportedly announced on Tuesday the opening of a new supermax detention center to house its most hardened toddlers. βThe Hudspeth County Maximum Correctional ..."
Good evening. Two work days down, vacation only three work days away. 😎 Still thinking about leaving town on Friday night. Not the coolest evening ever but reasonable with the mercury dropping to 78 degrees and a dew point around 68.🌉 A light breeze makes for a fairly pleasant summer evening. Sitting outside watching the sparkle lights our back.
Tonight will be fairly sticky with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainβ‘. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72. South wind 11 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Going into tomorrow the chance for heavy downpours increases with a high topping out around 78 degrees in the afternoon. βBring your umbrella.
Sitting out back after my evening walk and heading over to John Wolcott’s house for his continued interview. 🎥 Continuing to think about vacation and what I need to pack. 💼 Mostly the usual camping gear, a week’s worth of clothing and maybe some food, although I will buy most of what I need up at camp. 🍔
Weather looks okay for next week although maybe not as much sun as I would hope for but better weather than last yearβ. I might bring my heater and set it up in the tent if I have a cold and wet day to get warm and dried out without having to sit next to a smokey campfire🔥. I’m going to bring my boots as everything especially in the National Forest will be mucky as they’ve gotten a lot of rain this past week up there.👢
Hoping that I get a lot of use out of my hammock and the new one doesn’t break. 🏄 I might even camp in it in a few different parts of the wilderness for a few nights.
I am working on upgrading part of my blog so the normal templates are down, but I expect them to be working again tomorrow. 🔍I just forgot to update one of the files. It will be fixed early tomorrow. I’ve switched over to location based system using Facebook rather than Foursquare.
Once again I have a bit of a a stomach bug that seems to bother me from time to time. I wonder if it’s something that I’m eating from time to time or if I should visit the doctor. Not a big deal but I often feel a bit sick to the stomach in the evening. 💩 Well if I still feel like I’m having issues after vacation I’ll make a doctor’s appointment.
Probably on Thursday I will run to the laundromat and wash my clothes.👕👖 I also want to get a second propane hose to replace the cracked one I have. I was going to order it online to store but went I went to pay it was unavailable. Then just packing the normal camping gear, including tying the kayak on the roof of the truck. βΊ
It’s been a crazy few weeks at work. I look forward to getting away from it all for nine days in the wilderness, well at least away from Albany. 🙀 I really are looking forward to getting away.
They call August the dog days of summer.πΆ It’s hard to disagree but in many ways it’s also the time when summer starts to close itself out.π
Usually during the end of July I post my classic essay, “Warning Summer is an Endangered Species” because it really is. By the end of July the sun sets before 8:30 PM in Albany, and the hottest days of the year are already passed by. π Swimming pools close in four weeks and Labor Day Weekend means schools re-open. I often are quite busy with work once September rolls back around. π
Time is an unstoppable force.Β β² It’s best to embrace every day as soon those great summer days will be gone.
