Good morning! Happy Sunday. βͺFour weeks to Mothers Day 👩β. There are two kinds of mothers, or so I’m told. Cloudy and 31 degrees in Delmar, NY. β There is a northeast breeze at 13 mph. 🍃. No ice here yet, hopefully the ground will be warm enough when the rain makes it south the Adirondacks.
Such a cold and dreary day. 😑 Just cloudy here but still you would expect nicer weather for mid April. I’m a bit worried about ice midday.
Today will have a chance of freezing rain before noon, then rain likely after noon. Cloudy β , with a high of 34 degrees at 4pm. 24 degrees below normal. East wind 13 to 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Total daytime ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible. Total daytime sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible. It definitely could get icy mid morning. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies. The high last year was 71 degrees. The record high of 86 was set in 2003. 2.4 inches of snow fell back in 2014.β
The sun will set at 7:37 pm with dusk around 8:07 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for rain showers 💦and 34 degrees. There will be a east breeze at 14 mph. Today will have 13 hours and 25 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 45 seconds over yesterday.
Tonight will rain. β Low of 33 degrees at 9pm. Five degrees below normal. Breezy, with an east wind 14 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. In 2017, we had mostly cloudy skies with some clearing in the early hours of the next day. It got down to 56 degrees. The record low of 22 occurred back in 1981.
While I haven’t checked the data in a while, the indicator lights suggest that the GPS recorder that I built for my truck is working perfectly.📜 It’s nice that I will have a log now of my travels, especially as spring gets underway and I’m visiting more places. 🚗I like to be able to look back at the places that I’ve been.
I accidentally swapped the data and clock lines on the new VMS sign I’m building but I can fix that with some quick adjustments using the soldering iron. 🔬I also need to hook up various serial lines to the Maxx7219 module but hopefully I can have this working by the end of the weekend.
Still working on the KML export library I put together based on mmqgis. It works pretty good except for the save dialog, which sometimes gets stuck open.🐞 I’m apparently not capturing the click event correctly. I need to study up on PyQt.
Yesterday’s weather was nice and it was a great drive down 9W but I wish I could have been doing other things. Today with the possibility of ice at any point before mid afternoon I’m just going to be really cautious when I go out.🙀 I do need to run to the store and the laundromat and maybe to the folks house for Sunday dinner but all depends on the roads.
I’m thinking about taking off May 4th for a long weekend camping. βΊWon’t be spring like in the Adirondacks then but there won’t be any black flies either. 🐜 I’d go the previous weekend but I have the Save the Pine Bush hike then.
Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until Mothers Day 👩β when the sun will be setting at 8:09 pm with dusk at 8:41 pm. On that day in 2017, we had rain, mist, cloudy skies and temperatures between 55 and 47 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 69 degrees. We hit a record high of 86 back in 2004.
