๐ŸฐToday is the day we celebrate the man who was executed for organizing the common man against the rich and powerful.๐Ÿฅ

April 1, 2018 Morning

Good afternoon ! Today is a big day. Trout Season,🎣 April Fools Day🎭 and Easter 🐰. Lots of holidays today. Six weeks to Mothers Day 👩โ€. Partly cloudy and 42 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ›… There is a west breeze at 15 mph. 🍃 with gusts up to 26 mph 💨💨💨. It feels fairly cool with the breeze.

Today is April Fools Day so you better watch out for the exploding Maple trees, as was reported on NPR a few years back. 🍁 Along with creepy folk in Bunny Suits and let’s not forget people who have climbed off their crosses and have moved heavy rocks and are now back on the streets organizing working people against their wealthy bosses. Although maybe not today because it’s Easter. And because they are out fishing.

I bought night crawlers and number six hooks but I’m undecided if I will hit up some creeks this afternoon. 🎣 Sun is coming out later on which isn’t great for fishing. I should have gotten up earlier but my sinuses are plugged and I just don’t feel all that great. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ The lack of sleep combined with the delicious beer I drank last night has caught up with me. 🍻Next weekend certainly though. Going to be cloudy and I don’t have a lot of plans for next week except dropping off recyclables to the transfer station. Maybe I could spend the night in the wilderness after fishing next week. I kind of don’t like cooking fish at home just because I don’t have a a fire to toss the bones in get rid of them while cooking, so they can be stinky in the garbage cans outside.

Today will be mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny 🌞, with a high of 45 degrees at 4pm. Six degrees below normal. West wind 15 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had light drizzle in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 44 degrees. The record high of 77 was set in 1986. 5 inches of snow fell back in 1924.โ„

The sun will set at 7:22 pm with dusk around 7:50 pm, which is one minute and 9 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for mostly clear skies and 40 degrees. There will be a west-northwest breeze at 11 mph. Today will have 12 hours and 46 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 53 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have patchy fog after 5am. Otherwise, increasing clouds โ›… , with a low of 29 degrees at 4am. Four degrees below normal. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light north in the evening. In 2017, we had cloudy skies, clearing in the early hours of the next day. It got down to 33 degrees. The record low of 17 occurred back in 1964.

Nothing in the forecast suggests a big warm up this week, although for the most part it will be above freezing and mid week, it will be in the mid fifties with rain which should help work on chewing away at the snow, 💦even in the Adirondacks. Once the snow is mostly gone I’m going to spend a few nights up in the wilderness,โ›บ although admittedly I may have to work the third and fourth week of April and the fifth is the Save the Pine Bush hike I am leading. But I could go out camping after then.

I am really happy with that transistor radio I stumbled upon on AliExpress and ordered on Ebay. Nice size, good sound, works well, powered by USB and can be used many hours with its built-in rechargeable battery.🔋 I like how I don’t have to carry around a battery charger and any Micro USB cable can charge it.🔌 I have USB ports all over my truck and also across my apartment. Makes it so much easier.📻 Built in speaker is plenty loud with good bass. Plus a recording function. So I’m very happy. Hopefully it will provide good news programming and entertainment both at home and at camp.

Looking ahead, there are 6 weeks until Mothers Day 👩โ€ when the sun will be setting at 8:09 pm with dusk at 8:41 pm. On that day in 2017, we had rain, mist, cloudy skies and temperatures between 55 and 47 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 69 degrees. We hit a record high of 86 back in 2004.
