Tariffs will have โ€˜terrible consequencesโ€™ for consumers: Steve Odland

"
The overarching message from industry must be: When the U.S. engages openly in free and fair trade, we all win. Competition makes the country better, encouraging industry around the world to deliver more value to more people. Trade is not zero sum. It helps to grow the standards of living of people around the globe. We need the inexpensive products from outside the country to raise our standard of living. And, with only 5 percent of the world population, we need open access to markets for our own goods to grow our economy. We cannot have one without the other."

Liberals and Crime

One thing liberals will never call gun violence ๐Ÿ”ซ is a crime. Liberals donโ€™t like to think of gun violence as a crime, even though murder very much a crime in all jurisdictions, and often is considered one of the most serious crimes, falling only slightly behind terrorism and treason.

The reason many liberals donโ€™t like to call gun violence a crime, is addressing crime is generally thought of as requiring more aggressive policing ๐Ÿ‘ฎ combined with increased policing in low-income neighborhoods that are primarily of color. Itโ€™s hard though to ignore where murders and crime are happening, if you want to be able to address it in an effective way. ๐Ÿš”

Upstate vs. Downstate New York

Upstate Vs. Downstate New York

It's not easy to define where upstate starts and downstate ends. This page has several different maps and propositions on where the line should be drawn. Myself, I like to think of Downstate as being the area subject to the Metropolitan Transit Authority Tax, as those are the counties where people are most likely to hop on a train and conduct business in the city.
