Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. Two weeks from now I’ll be at Moose River Plains for Independence Monday. Right now, on and off downpours and 75 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a south breeze at 9 mph. The dew point is 71 degrees. We might have times of blue skies between the downpours today. It’s going to be a very wet day for sure, should you head out at the wrong time. With the humidity, the floors in my bathroom and kitchen are soaked despite mopping them up. I’ll need to get out the bleach by Wednesday when the humidity drops. Assuming I’m home from work more than five minutes. 

Today will have a chance of showers before noon, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between noon and 3pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 3pm. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds and heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high of 81 degrees at 2pm. Three degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 73 at 1pm. South wind 9 to 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Up to two inches of rain expected today in the downpours. The sky is going just open up and pour at times today. The heavy rain represents the cooler, drier air expected to push in for the second half of the week. A year ago, we had mostly cloudy skies and a high of 91 degrees. The record high of 94 was set in 1995.

The sun will set at 8:36 pm with dusk around 9:11 pm, which is 16 seconds later than yesterday. At sunset, look for thunderstorms and a chance of very wet conditions and 73 degrees. The dew point will be 70 degrees. Still swamp like at sunset.  There will be a south breeze at 6 mph. Today will have 15 hours and 19 minutes of daytime, an increase of 5 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 7pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 7pm. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds, gusty winds, and heavy rain. Cloudy, with a low of 65 degrees at 2am. Seven degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 72 at 6pm. Southwest wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible. In 2016, it got down to 64 degrees with partly cloudy skies. The record low of 43 occurred back in 1918.

Five days until the weekend, a bit many late nights at work later. I didn’t take Big Red in, so I’m assuming they’ll let me go home by 11:30 tonight but no guarantees as the week progresses. I’m thinking about Schoharie County and the Mine Kill pool along with camping at Burnt Rossman this weekend, but that is weather dependent. I don’t want to plan anything too big this weekend as I’ll be tired from this certainly crazy final thing week of session and because the next week I’ll be going to Moose River Plains for five days, four nights. I look forward to being back up at the Plains. Hopefully the bugs won’t be too bad. 

Looking ahead, there are 6 weeks until Mutts Day when the sun will be setting at 8:16 pm with dusk at 8:47 pm. On that day in 2016, we had rain, drizzle, fog, mist, cloudy skies and temperatures between 71 and 63 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 82 degrees. We hit a record high of 98 back in 1917.
