Trump To Sign Executive Order Supporting Domestic Goods And Workers

"The "Buy American" portion of the executive order calls for stricter enforcement of laws requiring the federal government to buy American-made products when possible. Administration officials complain that those laws have been watered down over the years and often are sidestepped with government waivers."

"The "Hire American" part of the order aims to crack down on what the administration calls "abuses" of government guest-worker programs. The biggest target is the H-1B visa program, which is designed to help technology firms fill jobs requiring special skills but which critics say often is used to replace American workers with lower-paid foreign competitors."

We are up to 44 degrees under partly cloudy skies on our way up to 60 degrees later. Going to be the last nice day before my vacation starts. That said, tomorrow I plan to sleep in and go fishing and the Pine Bush Dinner then head up to the Southern Adirondacks on Friday. It doesn’t look like a big washout, just cloudy and cold with the largest amount of rain come Thursday. It’s just bad timing but how would I have known this when I planned my vacation weeks ago. I’m continuing to watch the evolving weather pattern and will make subsequent decisions as things progress. I want to get up to the wilderness just not on a cold, wet, mud filled days.

It looks like gas prices have climbed a bit but that was to be expected with summer coming, and our warmongering president is who is acting like a bull in a China shop. But we all knew gas prices were bound at some point to go back up even if temporarily the world is awash in oil before we burn it all up and underinvest in new wells. Honestly, at this point I won’t bat an eye as long as gas remains below $4. I mostly use gas for my truck for recreational purposes.  Maybe it will give the president pause before rolling back the very reasonable fuel economy standards put forward by the Obama administration. I like my big jacked up truck but I think people should be able to buy fuel efficient vehicles regardless of vehicle size.

Today will be partly sunny, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high of 60 degrees at 5pm. Typical for today. North wind 5 to 7 mph. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies and a high of 78 degrees. The record high of 90 was set in 1976. 2.7 inches of snow fell back in 1887.
