Good Morning, America! It’s Thursday.

Good Morning, America! It’s Thursday. Yesterday wasn’t all that bad, but already this morning you can feel the humidity, at least inside my sweltering man-cave. Last evening it poured all night, which may have somewhat reduced the temperature, but not by much. After the break from the mold and mildew in the dry weather of recent, I can only guess what will restart growing in my apartment. At any rate, I’m off to work on the air conditioned bus and will be most of the day in an air conditioned office. Left a small fan running at home, to keep air circulating around there, so to hopefully limit temperatures when I return.

Yesterday, I missed the earlier bus, because the jeans I put on had a tare in them, and the bus was running about 3 minutes early. I should leave extra time in the morning, especially now that I don’t have my truck, but the thing is if I am a bit late this morning, then so be it. It was fine, as I ended up getting stuck at work late. Things are a bit crazy around work these days, but not until things get well underway in mid-morning.

The body shop says I will get my truck back on or before July 8th. They hope to have it done by Independence weekend, but no guarantees as there is a lot of work that has to be done to repair the collision damage, not to mention parts to be ordered and delivered. That’s fine. I am going to have them repair to factory design, and if some point in the future I decide to add a bigger and heavier rear bumper then so be it.

I don’t know how much more money I want to pour into the truck for mostly appearance related things after the 6-inch lift and the 35s, and the 4.56 or 4.88 gears with trutrac. Still thinking of doing the lift-kit come August, as my tires are wearing out, and will need to be replaced at least before the truck gets inspected in the fall. I guess not as quite as fast originally expected, as the truck will be off-the-road (literally) for three weeks in the middle of summer.

I will be picking up a loaner car tomorrow. While I won’t have the inverter or CB radio, I will be able to at least get out of town on weekends and get to the store without taking the bus. I took the bus to the store yesterday evening, but I had forgotten what a pain it can be to go to store on the bus, especially if you have to pick up something bulky like toilet paper. Big cases of beer are even worst.

That said, I am hardly excited to get behind the wheel of car, especially a small car after the crash now almost a week ago. I think I will learn to suck it up though. But it sure kind of sucks being stuck in town during the weekends, and not being able to go to supermarket to pick up more then a few groceries.

Might go up to the Adirondacks this weekend — still debating that. I would have to tent camp, and my fishing pole and some of the other gear like flashlights and matches is still in the cab of my truck. I would miss having electricity and having to use a gas lamp, and wouldn’t have my kayak either. That said, a smaller car wouldn’t use so much gas, and it would save money compared to my big truck.

But maybe I should save money, so I can do more over July 4th weekend, and future weekends. I am really hopeful my truck will be back then.
