It never rains in Upstate NY 🐮

Tell that to the people trying to turn winter wheat and early spring grasses into cow chow. Maybe it will grow intensely when it finally turns hot after all this rain as is most certain to happen the second half of the month.

Good morning! Happy Thursday. It’s not raining this morning, but the heavy rain returns for Friday. That might actually be the only day I don’t ride to work – – and that was the day I was planning to take off to head out to Schoharie. Mostly cloudy around 56 degrees here in Delmar. 🌥 Light breeze from the west.

It seems funny to be thinking about the second half of May already, 🗓 but I actually rain the label job for work for the second half of the month on Tuesday and sent it along to the print shop. I am trying to plan out the second half of the month now for weekends – – the first half as been shit with the rain each weekend, but things might improve come next weekend. Hell of it is Saturdays have been quite nice, ☀ it’s just by Sunday it turns to rain. Same thing this upcoming weekend.

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. Rain showers around with clouds and 58 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☔ There is a north breeze at 10 mph. 🍃. The dew point is 53 degrees. Back to work this morning after I have my stack of carrot and apple pancakes topped with blueberries and real maple syrup. 🍁 Feeling kind of sick this morning, 🤮 it could be the weather, the minor eye infection I had last night 👀 or the many ticks I found on myself and later picked off between my hike up Blodgett Hill yesterday or trip out to Five Rivers Environmental Education Center the day before. I am fine, just sore and achy, tired. It’s probably Lyme, and maybe I’ll end up going to the doctor before the end of the week if I remain feeling so damn sick. It’s been four years since I last got Lyme so I’m probably due for it, that tick I pulled off my foot this morning didn’t help or the one I felt yesterday climbing up my back or the one I pulled off my hand when I was reading at Five Rivers. 🐞 They’re really out there in mass today.

Apparently in delaying the replacement of the chain on my bike, I stripped out the gears ⚙ and they’re being replaced early this week. Amazing how a $30 job I could do in a few minutes at home becomes a $200 job if you don’t pay attention. I need to get new tires too, and that will work out to being $250 in the hole, but riding my bike is still cheaper and more pleasant then driving or taking the bus to work, 🚍 especially now with the suburban office. I haven’t ordered the tires yet, but I should get some either online or pick them up on the bike shop when I pick the bike up on Wednesday. I’ll probably have to go in late that day and drive to work.

A first draft of what my dream home would look like

Simple, small and cozy, different from the large suburban homes of today. By no means a tiny home which is defined as under 500 square feet but probably in the ratio of what would be considered a small house - 900 or so square feet which is roughly 30 feet by feet. I'm teaching myself CAD to see if I can design something a bit better looking before actively seeking out architectural and design services and reading up to learn about all things on building your own house.

Woke up this morning with a terrible pain in my shoulder 💪🏻

Started bothering me during the weekend but this morning it’s incredibly sore. Apparently all that tumerac that left my hands yellow over the weekend was not enough to arrest the pain. I’m growing old and it’s just been a stressful few weeks. So much change, so little time.

While I went for a morning bike 🚲 ride for about twenty minutes in the neighborhood, I am driving 🚘 into work today for the first time in years and the first time at the new office 🏢 with acres of parking. As I don’t yet have the private office, I want to be able to talk to the mortgage bankers 🏦 from the privacy 🔏 of my truck. Tomorrow I’ll ride in again, assuming my shoulder is okay enough. If anything the morning bike ride somewhat loosened up my shoulder and it’s a bit better. Cold though, even with my heavy duty biker gloves 🧤 and silk liners my fingers felt a bit chilly. Need to warm up my truck well before heading in today.

New landlord replied back to my concerns and agreed 🤝🏻 to allow me to pay rent via paper check and gave me permission to store my kayak 🛶 outside. He also provided me with an address for written correspondence, which hopefully I’ll never need but you know when you have a financial relationship it’s important for both parties to protect their interest. 🏡 Likewise when buying a house and land, I am insisting on having a seperate buyer’s and seller’s agent – if a realtor finds me a property they’re also selling – I will insist they step down as my agent on the buyer side. I also will shy away from a suggested title agent or inspector by the realtor unless I get an independent recommendation that agrees. 👍🏻 It’s not about being an asshole but protecting one’s interests.
