Good evening! Clouds, light rain showers and 53 degrees in the area around Delmar, NY. β˜” There is a north breeze at 5 mph. πŸƒ. The dew point is 52 degrees. The skies will clear Friday around 4 am. I walked down to the library, and it was only drizzling a bit.

I’m not feeling that bad tonight as I was earlier πŸ˜₯but still a bit stiff and sore. But I was able to walk down to the library this evening and get some work done there for Save the Pine Bush, updated part of the blog, downloaded some videos 🎦 and returned my library books. πŸ“š I’m going to wait and see a few more days before going to the doctor 😷 watching for any bulls eyes that might pop up.

I did enjoy that book on the Tiger 🐯, the history of Tammany Hall. I had heard a lot about Tammany Hall over the years and Boss Tweed but never knew much about the institution or how it came to be or why it finally faded away by the early 1960s. It’s kind of sad to see it come to an end in the book πŸ“– although much of what the institution did was pretty corrupt and 😈.

Tonight will have a chance of showers before 1am, then a chance of rain, mainly between 1am and 3am. Patchy fog before 11pm. Otherwise, mostly cloudy 🌧, with a low of 49 degrees at 3am. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 23rd. North wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2018, we had mostly clear skies. It became humid as the night progressed. It got down to 62 degrees. The record low of 34 occurred back in 1956.

Tonight will have a Waning Crescent Moon 🌘 with 19% illuminated. The moon will rise at 3:09 am. The New Moon is on Sunday night with a chance of showers. The Strawberry Moon 🌝 is on Sunday, June 16th. The sun will rise at 5:21 am with the first light at 4:48 am, which is 36 seconds earlier than yesterday. πŸŒ„ Tonight will have 8 hours and 57 minutes of darkness, a decrease of one minute and 26 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have patchy fog between 7am and 8am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy 🌞, with a high of 70 degrees at 3pm. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 19th. Maximum dew point of 53 at 6pm. North wind 3 to 6 mph. I know I’ll pack my umbrella tomorrow. β˜” I also need to get my jacket from the dry cleaners. I hope I have cash? πŸ’ A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 85 degrees. The record high of 93 was set in 1931.

The National Weather Service is still relatively optimistic for the weekend. πŸ˜• My phone is showing more clouds and rain. Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 75. Maximum dew point of 54 at 7pm. Sunday, a chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 72. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Maximum dew point of 54 at 10am. Typical average high for the weekend is 74 degrees.

My plan for this weekend is to hook up the second accessory battery in the truck πŸ”‹ and clean out and organize my truck. I want to see if they’ll stand behind the hammock at LL Bean and replace it again. I can’t believe that broke again. 😑 Maybe do some more cleaning around the apartment, maybe a local hike. 🚢 In two weeks, God willing, I’m thinking about Perkins Clearing to camp, hiking back in the West Canada Lake Wilderness and kayaking in Speculator. β›Ί

In four weeks on June 25 the sun will be setting at 8:37 pm,πŸŒ„ which is 13 minutes and 48 seconds later then tonight. In 2018 on that day, we had mostly sunny, rain showers and temperatures between 78 and 55 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 80 and 59 degrees. The record high of 95 degrees was set back in 1898.

Looking ahead, Primary Day πŸ—³οΈ is in 4 weeks, Last Sunset After 8:30 PM πŸŒ† is in 7 weeks, Constitution Day πŸ“œ is in 16 weeks, October πŸ›₯ is in 18 weeks and Election Day 2020 πŸ—³οΈ is in 75 weeks.

February 8, 2019 Morning

Good afternoon! Yeah, it’s Friday! The sign in my bedroom says three weeks to March 🌨. Clearing skies and 42 degrees in Delmar. β›… There is a west breeze at 10 mph. 🍃. There is a just mud and lots of clumbs of snow on ground. β˜ƒ Temperatures will drop below freezing at around 5 pm. β˜ƒοΈ Hopefully with the wind, it won’t be so icy come through evening.

I am tired today because I didn’t sleep well last night. 😩 I kept waking up during the night and I had trouble sleeping. Not totally sure why, although often in the later part of the winter I have trouble sleeping. I feel much better when I can wake up in the wilderness and few times a month. It can get quite stuffy in my apartment in the winter.

Today will have a chance of showers, mainly before noon. Mostly sunny, with a temperature falling to around 34 by 5pm. β˜€Breezy, with a west wind 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny in the morning, which became partly cloudy by afternoon. The high last year was 26 degrees. The record high of 52 was set in 1925. 14.0 inches of snow fell back in 1895.❄

The sun will set at 5:18 pm with dusk around 5:47 pm, which is one minute and 19 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for partly clear skies 🌄 and temperatures around 34 degrees. The wind chill around sunset will be 23. β˜ƒοΈ Breezy, 20 mph breeze β›… from the west with gusts up to 36mph. Today will have 10 hours and 18 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 33 seconds over yesterday. A month out from now it will be over 11 hours and 33 minutes of daylight each day. Grows fast near spring time.

Tonight will be partly cloudy 🌤, with a low of 19 degrees at 6am. Three degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical night around February 21st. Maximum wind chill around 3 at 6am; Breezy, with a west wind 21 to 24 mph, with gusts as high as 41 mph. In 2018, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 2 degrees. The record low of -20 occurred back in 1934.

So we finally made it to a Friday. That’s a good thing. I had a family thing to attend to this morning🏯 but I’ll be in later today to work and might get some drinks after work depending how I feel. 🍺 I’m just a little tired. This appointment is taking longer than I expected but hopefully I’ll be able to get to work close to 1 pm.

Tomorrow will be sunny 🌞, with a high of 31 degrees at 3pm. Two degrees below normal, which is similiar to a typical day around January 30th. Breezy, with a northwest wind 15 to 24 mph, with gusts as high as 43 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny in the morning, which became partly cloudy by afternoon. The high last year was 30 degrees. The record high of 57 was set in 1925. 13.7 inches of snow fell back in 1906.❄

Looking ahead to Sunday, mostly sunny 🌞, with a high near 30. Calm wind becoming west around 6 mph in the morning. Typical average high for the weekend is 33 degrees.

I don’t have any real plans for the weekend although I’m thinking come Saturday I will probably stay home and if I go anywhere it just will be for a walk along the rail trail. 🚶 I’ve been trying to have a Saturday where I can avoid going anywhere with red. Sunday I’ll probably go up to Partridge Run for a nice walk, I don’t think there will be enough snow left for skiing. I thought about going to the Adirondack Outdoorsman show or even camping but I think this should be a stay in town weekend. I’m trying to drive as little as possible to save for the summer. β›½

Maybe for the long weekend next week I will head up to the Adirondacks to ski and camp but that is still to be decided. Depends how much snow we get in the mean time and forecast for the long weekend. β›Ί It looks like a warming trend is underway and honestly its now to the point where most days should be close to above freezing or even a bit above. By next week the average high temperature is 34 or 35. I wonder if they will have the ice races up north next week? I should check that out if it’s happening on Lake Algonquin.

In four weeks on March 8 the sun will be setting at 5:53 pm,🌄 which is 35 minutes and 18 seconds later then today. In 2018 on that day, we had snow and temperatures between 35 and 29 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 41 and 23 degrees. The record high of 68 degrees was set back in 2012. Definitely looking forward to nicer weather come March and April.

I was going to go for a walk yesterday but it started to rain. 💦 Instead I stayed home and rode the exercise bike while watching some videos that I downloaded including a whole series on trapping. Then I worked on some code, maps and future blog posts.

I am continuing to work on the code that drives the lights in my bedroom. πŸ’‘ After doing some debugging I discovered that the problem with the lamp over my bed is that the code isn’t always listening for the full string coming over the Bluetooth, so I need to write some code that adds a start and end code so it keeps listening until it receives the end code. I also fixed a bug with the timer function which works properly now that I figured out the bug with the pointer not being properly initialized.

I also started doodling out some of the code for another project I’m building – a smart control for the relay that connects the accessory and starting batteries on my truck,🔋 so that when the solar panels has ample power it also will top off the starting battery and not the accessory battery alone. Good for while camping should I open and close the door a lot or should I leave the truck parked and extended period in the winter.

Looking ahead, March 🌨 is in 3 weeks, Ides of March ✝ is in 5 weeks, Memorial Day Weekend Starts 🏕️ is in 15 weeks and Dog Days of Summer 🌻 is in 21 weeks.

December 24, 2018 Night

Good evening! Light snowand 32 degrees during the great Christmas Eve black out in Delmar. ❄ There is a west-northwest breeze at 10 mph. 🍃. There is a dusting of snow on the ground. β˜ƒ Things will start to thaw out at tomorrow around noontime. 🌡️

As I didn’t want to sit in the darkness inside and because I really didn’t have any dinner when the power went out, 🌌 I sat out back for a while with my camp stove and heater and warmed up some dinner and hot coca.β˜• Not a really cold night but I was getting tired and decided head back in and retire to bed. 💤 Pretty night when the moon came out and it started to snow. I stayed up too late last night and want to get to sleep soon.

I saw the power crew go by and it looks like points north and east of Cherry and Delaware still have power do I expect it to be on before long. But I also expect to be asleep by then.βŒ› I tried to turn off the lights and unplug the strip over my bed so I won’t be awaken when the power returns.

Because it was so dark before the moon came up – close to full moon – I decided to hang Christmas lights on my truck to get into the spirit. 🎄 I’m going to leave them on all night but I expect it’s possible that the low voltage relay will kick in by morning but that’s fine, the starting battery is isolated and even the accessory battery should start charging by morning when the sun gets high enough to push power out to the solar panel.🔌 Might even be enough sun to reset the relay by morning by itself.

Power outage couldn’t have happened at a worse time for me, as I was sorting out electronic components into boxes on my floor, 🔩as they have become rather disorganized and hard to locate things. I’ve been buying these flat clear tackle boxes for that purpose of sorting them out and finally I’m getting around to having one box for LEDs, one for resistors and capacitors, one for microprocessors and other miscellaneous sensors. 📦Well I moved it out of the way with my flash light finishing up what I could. I guess at least I wasn’t cooking.

Tonight will have a slight chance of snow showers before 10pm. Mostly cloudy 🌧, with a low of 25 degrees at 6am. Seven degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical night around December 7th. Maximum wind chill around 18 at 6am; Northwest wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2017, we had cloudy skies, clearing in the early hours of the next day. It got down to 17 degrees. The record low of -22 occurred back in 1969.

Tonight will have a Waning Gibbous Moon 🌖 with 91% illuminated. The moon will set at 9:54 am. The Last Quarter Moon is on Friday night with partly cloudy skies. The Wolf Moon 🌝 is on Sunday, January 20th. The sun will rise at 7:23 am with the first light at 6:51 am, which is 23 seconds later than yesterday. 🌄 Tonight will have 14 hours and 56 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 15 seconds over last night.

Christmas Day will be mostly sunny 🌞, with a high of 34 degrees at 1pm. One degree above normal, which is similiar to a typical day around December 22nd. Northwest wind 5 to 8 mph. Sounds like a really nice day. Maybe I should plan some hiking. A year ago, we had cloudy skies with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 33 degrees. The record high of 66 was set in 1889. 19.2 inches of snow fell back in 2002.❄

If I do go for a hike tomorrow, I am a bit undecided where.🏃 Probably not too far as I want to hook up the under cabinet lighting I got them for Christmas. I should plan a couple hours for that before Christmas dinner at the folks house. I think the next big adventure will be the long weekend for New Years Eve. 🎇

My parents had a nice Christmas Eve party with my niece, and my sister and my inlaw. Lots of good food and hanging around opening gifts. 🎁 It seemed like a lot of fun for all involved. It was nice seeing my parents, I hadn’t seen them since my trip. My niece seemed to like the star I built her. There is a lot I don’t like about Christmas which is why I don’t celebrate it personally but I family occasions are special. And this year thanks to the black out I actually hung up some Christmas lights on my truck. I guess I did string some warm white lights into my apartment that I bought for camping but honestly they’re not really strung for the holiday. If anything, they’re for Quinn the Eskimo.

I’m having some problems with the auto renewal on my phone, 📲 so I may not post any updates until later when I get to my parents house for Christmas dinner. I think the auto renewal is fixed but I won’t know until morning. If not I’ll have to fix it tomorrow, so I won’t have internet until it’s fixed. But then I won’t have to pay for my phone service for another six months. I’m thinking about buying the full year plan and paying the $500 up front but that’s a lot of money to have locked up in a service contract to save $15 total over the six months of service I buy twice a year. ☎ I don’t have internet at home so I’m very dependent on having my phone for connection to the interwebs.

A picture perfect weekend on tap for the final weekend of the year. 😎 Saturday, partly sunny, with a high near 40. Sunday, partly sunny, with a high near 30. Typical average high for the weekend is 32 degrees. Figuring I have New Years Eve off, I’m really thinking about a 3 night camping trip starting right after the Save the Pine Bush hike. Maybe the Adirondacks as I think there will be snow at Charles Baker in Brookfield and I don’t want to go back to Betty Brook in Schoharie in the winter in case there is ice, and because that valley is so deep and dark in the winter.

In four weeks on January 21 the sun will be setting at 4:55 pm,🌄 which is 28 minutes and 5 seconds later then tonight. It will be nice with the later sunsets. In 2018 on that day, we had cloudy skies, snow showers and temperatures between 43 and 29 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 30 and 14 degrees. The record high of 61 degrees was set back in 2006.

Looking ahead, New Years Eve 🎆 is in 1 week, Coldest Week of the Year 🌬 is in 3 weeks, Martin Luther King Day 🖤 is in 4 weeks, Presidents Day 👴 is in 8 weeks, Average High is 40 β˜€οΈ is in 10 weeks, April Fools Day 🤡 is in 14 weeks, Tax Day 💰 is in 16 weeks, Earth Day 🌎 is in 17 weeks, Memorial Day Weekend Starts 🏕️ is in 5 months, Memorial Day 🇺🇸 is in 22 weeks, July 🏊🏿 is in 27 weeks, Last Sunset After 8 PM 🌆 is in 33 weeks and Average High Falls To 79 ️Degrees ⛱️️️ is in 8 months. Too soon to be thinking about autumn again.

December 24, 2018 Morning

Good morning! It’s Quinn the Eskimo Eve, or whatever you are celebrating eve. Hopefully at least you got a real tree. 🎄 I choose wilderness, although I guess you can say being born in feed through in a barn is a wilderness in its own way. Nowadays I’m sure people would frown upon somebody having a baby in a barnyard although I’m sure there is a group of back to the land folks promoting it. Probably better than all the plastic at the hospital as straw can be mucked out and returned to the fields. Next Monday is New Years Eve 🎆. Goodbye 2018, on to 2019 and consuming even more plastic. The straw, the muck, and even eating the raw meat and tree bark of the Eskimos seems almost more appealing than the modern science driven world of 2019.

Light snow and 31 degrees in Delmar. ❄ Calm wind. Things will start to thaw out at around 10 am. 🌡️ Looks like we might have a white Quinn the Eskimo day assuming that it doesn’t melt away later. Things aren’t as cold as they once were, a fact especially well known to the Inuit.

Today will be light snow likely, mainly before 11am, then a chance of snow showers after noon. Cloudy 🌨, with a high of 38 degrees at 2pm. Five degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical day around December 10th. Light and variable wind becoming west 5 to 7 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. A year ago, we had with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 36 degrees. The record high of 72 was set in 2015. 13 inches of snow fell back in 1966.❄

The sun will set at 4:27 pm with dusk around 4:59 pm, which is 36 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for snow 🌨 and temperatures around 36 degrees. There will be a west-northwest breeze at 7 mph. Today will have 9 hours and 3 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 13 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a slight chance of snow showers before 10pm. Mostly cloudy 🌧, with a low of 26 degrees at 4am. Eight degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical night around December 4th. Northwest wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2017, we had , clearing in the early hours of the next day. It got down to 17 degrees. The record low of -22 occurred back in 1969.

I’m heading out to my parents house for Christmas Eve shortly. I built a few small presents, 🎁 I’m also going to do some donations in the name of people too. I don’t like the consumeristic world of today says the boy with the big jacked up truck. Hey at least the fresh fallen snow is pretty ❄and hopefully the roads won’t be too icy. I do have 4×4 which won’t help me not slide but it will help me make it up the steep icy hills.

As previously noted, next Monday is New Years Eve 🎆 when the sun will be setting at 4:32 pm with dusk at 5:04 pm. On that day in 2017, we had sunny skies and temperatures between and degrees. Typically, the high temperature is degrees. We hit a record high of back in .

December 16, 2018 Night

Good evening! A mix of sleet, rain and snow and 33 degrees in Delmar. ❄ There is a north-northwest breeze at 9 mph. 🍃. Temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow around 3 am. β˜ƒοΈ That part won’t be so much fun, although I’ll be fast asleep by then.

Tonight will rain, snow, and sleet before midnight, then rain and snow likely between midnight and 2am, then a chance of snow after 2am. Low of 30 degrees at 6am. Nine degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical night around November 23rd. I know, warm. North wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total nighttime snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible. I doubt it will be a problem by morning, but I don’t care, the bus will be running. In 2017, we had partly cloudy skies, clearing in the early hours of the next day. It got down to 8 degrees. The record low of -8 occurred back in 1942.

Tonight will have a Waxing Gibbous Moon 🌔 with 67% illuminated. The moon will set at 1:21 am. The Cold Moon 🌕 is on Friday night with partly cloudy skies. The sun will rise at 7:19 am with the first light at 6:47 am, which is 41 seconds later than yesterday. 🌄 Tonight will have 14 hours and 56 minutes of darkness, an increase of 20 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have a slight chance of rain showers after 1pm, mixing with snow after 4pm. Mostly cloudy 🌧, with a high of 40 degrees at 2pm. Five degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical day around December 5th. Fairly mild. Breezy, with a northwest wind 6 to 11 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies with more clouds in the afternoon. The high last year was 27 degrees. The record high of 59 was set in 1984. 11.1 inches of snow fell back in 1970.❄

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. πŸ˜• Saturday, a chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 43. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Sunday, partly sunny, with a high near 37. Typical average high for the weekend is 34 degrees.

In four weeks on January 13 the sun will be setting at 4:45 pm,🌄 which is 22 minutes and 13 seconds later then tonight. In 2018 on that day, we had snow, mostly sunny skies and temperatures between 44 and 20 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 30 and 14 degrees. The record high of 71 degrees was set back in 1932.

Got my wash done, bought too many groceries, spending too much money, and didn’t wash my truck or replace the broken washer blade. There always is tomorrow after work. I figured washing the truck with them applying salt to the roads at this point is kind of pointless.🚘 The rain is washing off a lot of the muck at any rate.

When I got back home I baked up some nicely spicy chicken breast and stuffing. Not fancy but with the Montreal Chicken spice I bought cooks up nicely. 🍗 I spent some time reading, working on code and wasting time on Facebook. Lots of little projects.

Back to work tomorrow, I should probably rest up well. 💤I did turn down the heat before bed, and I have to say my bed is so much softer than those sleeping pads. I need to set the alarm on my phone too. ⏰ I don’t expect a really busy week, some end of the year stuff. The next two weeks after this week are just three work days with the holidays which is nice. Maybe I can camp and travel if there ain’t too much snow. β›Ί

Looking ahead, Festivus 🍖 is in 1 week, Daylight Savings Time 🌆 is in 12 weeks, St. Patrick’s Day 🍀 is in 13 weeks, 7:30 PM Sunset 🌇 is in 16 weeks, Palm Sunday 🌴 is in 17 weeks, Easter 🐰 is in 18 weeks, Cinco de Mayo 🤠 is in 20 weeks, Mothers Day 👩‍ is in 21 weeks, Average High is 70 🐮 is in 5 months, Fathers Day 👨 is in 6 months and Last Sunset After 8:30 PM 🌆 is in 7 months.

December 16, 2018 Morning

Good morning! Happy Sunday. Next Sunday is Festivus 🍖. Cloudy and around freezing n Delmar. ☁ Calm wind. It should be a few degrees above freezing before the rain pushes in this morning in Albany area but the outlying areas may get snow. I’m glad I decided to home yesterday. I don’t like winter driving.

Today will have a chance of rain and snow between 10am and 1pm, then rain and sleet likely after 1pm. Cloudy ☁ , with a high of 36 degrees at 3pm. 💦 I think we will dodge the bullet here but the outlying areas will get icy. Temperature wise, typical for today. Calm wind becoming north 5 to 7 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. Total daytime snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies with more clouds in the afternoon. The high last year was 31 degrees. The record high of 55 was set in 1971. 9.5 inches of snow fell back in 1981.❄

I was originally planning on going out to my parents house today for their Christmas Decorating Party 🎄with my niece but that’s been canceled with the weather. Instead, I’ll probably go to the laundromat and then the grocery store for a few supplies for the week and wash the mud off my truck before parking it for the week. Maybe later on head down to the library and post some pictures and videos from my trip then come home and get things ready for the work week.

The sun will set at 4:23 pm with dusk around 4:55 pm, which is 18 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 In a month, that will be 25 minutes later. At sunset, look for rain 🌧 and temperatures around 35 degrees. There will be a north breeze at 7 mph. Today will have 9 hours and 3 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 23 seconds over yesterday. Only a few more days of days getting shorter.

Tonight will rain, snow, and sleet likely before 1am, then a chance of snow and freezing rain between 1am and 4am, then a chance of rain and snow after 4am. Cloudy ☁, with a low of 30 degrees at 6am. Nine degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical night around November 23rd. North wind 6 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than one inch possible. In 2017, we had partly cloudy skies, clearing in the early hours of the next day. It got down to 8 degrees. The record low of -8 occurred back in 1942.

My hands are a bit cracked and sore from the cold over the past week 👏although I assume that the hand lotion is helping. I would have used more while camping but the lotion was kind of frozen. Likewise, still working on getting shaved well as the peach fuzz isn’t coming off well as I didn’t shave much while camping as the shaving cream froze. Winter camping is fun.

I’m kind of glad to be back to work tomorrow. Office life is routine, 💻 the bus takes me back and forth to work. It’s kind of an easy life, means that I can save and work for a better tomorrow. 🎉I still find it hard to believe 2019 is just around the corner. Next weekend is a four day weekend with Christmas as is the following weekend,🎁 giving me lots of time to do things at home or persue other adventures once we get some fresh snow. 🏂

As previously noted, next Sunday is Festivus 🍖 when the sun will be setting at 4:26 pm with dusk at 4:58 pm. Enjoy your meatloaf and feats of strength. On that day in 2017, we had rain, drizzle, freezing rain, freezing drizzle, mist, cloudy skies and temperatures between 36 and 25 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 33 degrees. We hit a record high of 64 back in 1990.

 Boreas River

December 15, 2018 Morning

Good morning! Happy Bill of Rights Day 📜! Next Saturday the Days will be Getting Longer Again β˜€οΈ. Nice, the first day of winter is next Friday. Cloudy and 39 degrees in Finger Lakes National Forest. ☁ Calm wind. Only a few patches of snow left on the ground after yesterday’s mild temperatures.

I’m packing up and finishing up breakfast now. β˜• I’m thinking I’ll be on the road by eleven o’clock, but I may stop a few places on the way home. I’m not in a real rush although I would like to be home by dusk and I figure four hours until home. Not totally sure which route I’ll take, I’m leaning towards 79 and 206. That’s actually usually the shortest route and I’m ready to get home and washed up.

Today will be mostly cloudy 🌥, with a high of 41 degrees at 7am. Five degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical day around December 3rd. Calm wind becoming north around 6 mph in the morning. A year ago, we had cloudy skies. The high last year was 22 degrees. The record high of 61 was set in 2015. 8.2 inches of snow fell back in 1968.❄

It’s been a good but seemingly short trip, but everything now is turning to mud now that it’s warmed up. πŸ˜• I’m ready to go home and get the mud washed up. The week went by so fast but I think it was a good week although I wish I could have seen more and harvested more in the woods. The cold gray skies seemed to leave the woods free of wildlife. Plus there was a lot of hunters putting pressure on the land up here. 🌲But there are more adventures to come, I might head back out later this month.

The sun will set at 4:35 pm with dusk around 5:07 pm, which is 16 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for mostly cloudy skies ☁ andtemperatures around 39 degrees. There will be a north-northeast breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 9 hours and 4 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 26 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a slight chance of rain between midnight and 2am, then a chance of freezing rain and sleet. Mostly cloudy 🌥, with a low of 29 degrees at 4am.
