May 3, 2020 10 PM Update

Good evening! Partly clear and 64 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a west breeze at 6 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 46 degrees. Nice evening, sat out back for a while. Not feeling terrible but still a little achy from the Lyme. I still need to take the doxycline I got from the doctor Friday. ๐Ÿ’Š

Sleeping with the windows open tonight โฌ› which is nice until I heard the sirens from the meat wagon ๐Ÿš‘go roaring by. I wonder if it’s somebody dying of Coronavirus? Hopefully nobody I know. It’s a question one always asks these days.

I thought about staying up north one more night and driving home early tomorrow ๐Ÿš˜ but I decided against that as I broke camp midday to go hiking. ๐Ÿšถ While hiking the remote section of the abandoned Dunning Pond Snowmobile Trail was quiet I eventually lost the trail as it got into dense woods with lots of trees down and few of the old markers. ๐Ÿ”ด Some nice views of the gorge and then a lot of it was an eroded mountain road until the trail left the road and disappeared into the woods. This wouldn’t have been a big problem if I had the GPS tracks from my Google County Maps part of the blog but of course I managed to somehow delete them off my phone. I got to make sure I have them on the phone along with USGS Topo maps saved. I would have also had a better chance of following the herd path up to Eagle Pond that I had lost on Saturday if I had that data saved. ๐ŸŒWell there always is future trips up north.

It was a pretty good weekend up north ๐Ÿ˜Ž with lots of sun and actually quite mild and warm most of the weekend except for brief rain shower around 10 pm Saturday night ๐Ÿ’ฆwhen I ended up retiring to my truck cap earlier than I had planned. Had a nice big fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ at the same campsite I’ve been at the past few times I’ve been up north on the East Branch Sacandaga River. โ›บ Some traffic ๐Ÿšฅ noise but pretty nice. Spent a lot of time laying back in the hammock, soaking up the sun. โ˜€ The sun felt good especially when I felt achy from the Lyme. Warm enough a good portion of the weekend I could just lay out with a t shirt ๐Ÿ‘š on.

Left my Bluetooth speaker ๐Ÿ”Š home which was annoying when I wanted to listen to podcasts and music ๐ŸŽถ. I’m going to start leaving that in the truck. Better to charge it there too – I don’t pay for the unused solar power the truck produces while parked with the solar controller in float mode. ๐Ÿ”‹ Also forgot ketchup for my hotdogs – ended up topping them with baked beans and cheese. ๐Ÿฃ

Explored more of the Fox Lair remains, I want to do one of those historical aerial photo comparisons, especially if I can find the 1942 aerial photo ๐Ÿ“ท. Not a lot left of the ruins, but I wonder if I can find more old pictures on the internet. ๐ŸฐDid some walking ๐Ÿšถ along NY 8 just for exercise too and to take in the scenery.

Came back relatively early, I was unpacked by about six. ๐Ÿก Laid back on my bed for a while before showering ๐Ÿšฟ and shaving. Got a nice tan. Those side burns I’ve grown are coming in nicely but I do need a hair cut ๐Ÿ’‡. I’m going to do some trimming myself in the morning as who knows when the barber ๐Ÿ’ˆ is going to be allowed to reopen. My barber is so elderly, I wonder if he will just hang up his hat ๐ŸŽฉ after the pandemic. I decided to avoid the expressway and cities home so I took NY 30 to Duanesburg Churches Road past the Mariaville Farm to US 20. Pretty drive with things greening up outside Amsterdam but I tell you there are some sharp curves on NY 30 south of Amsterdam. ๐Ÿ”ถ

Tonight will be partly cloudy ๐ŸŒค, with a low of 49 degrees at 6am. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 21st. West wind 6 to 8 mph. In 2019, we had cloudy skies. It got down to 52 degrees. The record low of 28 occurred back in 1985.

Tonight will have a Waxing Gibbous ๐ŸŒ” Moon with 85% illuminated. At 10 PM, the moon was in the south (175ยฐ) at an altitude of 52ยฐ from the horizon, some 226,511 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by October 22nd. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บ The Flower ๐ŸŒท Moon is on Thursday, May 7. The darkest hour is at 12:53 am, followed by dawn at 5:16 am, and sun starting to rise at 5:48 am in the east-northeast (68ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 8 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 19 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:27 am with sun in the east-northeast (74ยฐ). Tonight will have 9 hours and 46 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 24 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have a slight chance of showers between 11am and 1pm. Partly sunny ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 57 degrees at 11am. Nine degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 13th. Northwest wind 9 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning, which became light rain by afternoon. The high last year was 67 degrees. The record high of 91 was set in 1944. There was a dusting of snow in 1986.โ„

Tomorrow I probably should go to the laundromat ๐Ÿ‘–๐Ÿ‘• ๐Ÿ‘š and wash some clothes and probably my sheets too. I can probably bring my laptop there and work from there, uploading pictures from the weekend that was. I’m good on food but the two gallons of milk I bought last week is almost all drunk. I do like my cow ๐Ÿฎ beverages. Other than that I should be good on food until mid week.

As I noted previously, last weekend I got another tick bite. ๐ŸœI was sore found it on Tuesday. Its been weird – sometimes I feel fine other times terribly stiff and sore. No bulls eye though. Went to the doctor on Friday, she kind of thought I didn’t have Lyme but gave me doxycline. ๐Ÿ’Š I held off taking it as I went to the Adirondacks for the weekend and knew doxycline and sun don’t mix due to the risk of severe sunburn. I’m also a little mixed on my concern – it stings from time to time around where I was bit, I’ve been super sleepy at times. ๐Ÿ˜ด I don’t want to take an antibiotic I don’t need. But I guess the doctor while questioning ๐Ÿ™‹ me said I should take it. I don’t know what to think.

It was such a werid experience going to the doctors office during the pandemic. ๐Ÿ˜ซThe doors had big signs warning people that if they had cold or flu symptoms they aren’t welcome and that they did not offer Coronavirus testing there. The whole experience was kind of odd and frightening. ๐Ÿ‘พ

While I’m always cautious about social distancing and wearing a mask out in public places but between the limited vision under the banada, the empty doctors office, the hand sanitizer everywhere and all these things like a special Coronavirus questionnaire that I had to do on my phone before the doctor would see me. ๐Ÿ“ฑ I was so creeped out by the experience.

In four weeks on May 31 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (301ยฐ) at 8:26 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 27 minutes and 53 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly cloudy, mist and temperatures between 76 and 55 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 74 and 52 degrees. The record high of 92 degrees was set back in 2013.

It looks like for Mothers Day it’s going to be cold and they might get snow in the Adirondacks. โ„ It does not look like a good weekend to get out of town. I’m still thinking about a mid May trip out to Schoharie County – maybe three nights with me working from my truck on a Monday. โ›บ I’m thinking the last week of May – the one after Memorial Day Weekend – to do a three night trip to Piseco Powley Road starting that Thursday night before the weekend if it is nice. I hope to have the screen house by then to avoid the bugs. Peak black fly season isn’t so bad if I have shelter during the day as black flies aren’t out after dark. Memorial Day Weekend proper I’ll stay home ๐Ÿก most likely to avoid the crowds especially if other developed campgrounds are closed forcing people into the back country taking up all the good sites. I’m also seriously thinking about planning my summer vacation up at Piseco Powley Road – and a week at the House Pond Swimming Hole could make up for all the state park pools being closed. ๐ŸŠ I’d have to see about getting a camping permit.

Looking ahead, Mothers Day ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€ is in 1 week, Pack Rat Day ๐Ÿ€ is in 2 weeks, Strawberry Moon ๐ŸŒ• is in 5 weeks, Fathers Day ๐Ÿ‘จ is in 6 weeks, Election Day 2020 ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ is in 6 months and Election Day 2020 ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ is in 6 months.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿฆ…Only 19 days remain until the start of Memorial Day Weekend!๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Tulip Time!

May 1, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy May ๐Ÿ•Š! Five weeks to 8:30 PM Sunset ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ. Cloudy, gray but no rain and 58 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜” Calm wind. The dew point is 53 degrees. The skies will clear around 11 pm. I am feeling somewhat better this morning, but I have a doctors appointment this afternoon so I hopefully then I’ll be feeling better after I get doxycycline or whatever I need for the tick bite.

I have a long list of things to do this morning from home, ๐Ÿ  and I ended up having to drive the library as my work laptop wasn’t working and apparently I had to connect to the wi-fi to get it up working again. ๐Ÿ’ป Things though are up and working again, which is good.

Today will have a chance of showers, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after noon. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. ๐ŸŒฆ High of 63 degrees at 2pm. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 27th. Maximum dew point of 53 at 10am. ๐Ÿ–๏ธ Northwest wind 3 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. A year ago, we had cloudy skies. The high last year was 56 degrees. The record high of 86 was set in 2001. There was a dusting of snow in 1978.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:53 pm with sun having an altitude of 62.6ยฐ from the due south horizon (-8.2ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 3.1 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:17 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (285ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (292ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:56 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 7 seconds with dusk around 8:26 pm, which is one minute and 7 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Gibbous ๐ŸŒ” Moon in the south (180ยฐ) at an altitude of 63ยฐ from the horizon, 228,988 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:05 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and thunderstorms ๐ŸŒฉ and temperatures around 60 degrees. The dew point will be 50 degrees. There will be a west-northwest breeze at 10 mph. Today will have 14 hours and 7 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 29 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have showers likely, mainly before 11pm. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 44 degrees at 5am. One degree above normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 4th. Northwest wind 9 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2019, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became light rain by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 50 degrees. The record low of 29 occurred back in 1974.

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 71 degrees at 4pm. Six degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 20th. Northwest wind 9 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. A year ago, we had cloudy skies. The high last year was 65 degrees. The record high of 90 was set in 2018. There was a dusting of snow in 1986.โ„

Looking ahead to Sunday, scattered showers, mainly before 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 72. ๐Ÿ˜Ž Light and variable wind becoming west 8 to 13 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. Maximum dew point of 49 at 11am. Typical average high for the weekend is 65 degrees.

It does sound like a nice weekend on tap ๐Ÿค  so I’m thinking about weekend plans. Maybe I’ll head out of town, but I better be real careful, as I don’t want to get sun burn or drink alcohol if I’m on medication for the Lyme. Plus who knows how sick I’ll be feeling this weekend or how bad the bugs will be. But on the other hand, I don’t want to miss a nice weekend, as the rest of the month may be rainy and miserable or things get shut down further. I’ll have to think about it some more.

One month ๐Ÿ“… from now will be June ๐Ÿน when the sun will be setting at 8:26 pm with dusk at 9:00 pm.

East Stony Creek

April 30, 2020 Night

Good evening! Rain and 55 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜” Breezy, ๏ธ17 mph breeze from the south-southeast ๐ŸŒฌ with gusts up to 30 mph ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ. The dew point is 50 degrees.

The Lyme Disease round 2 is no joke and I’m going to call the doctor on the morning ๐Ÿ˜ท and figure out this telemedicine thing. I wanted to wait for the bulls eye but I’m so achy and sore and pulled that big gorged tick on Tuesday. ๐Ÿœ I guess round 2 of Lyme hits a lot harder. I didn’t even think about my evening walk. I just hope come morning I won’t be too stiff and sore to climb the stairs. I’m sure once I get on doxycline I’ll be fine ๐Ÿ’Š but this is pretty awful.

I’d like to get up to the Adirondacks this weekend for some social distancing โ›บ but with the Lyme disease and the mud and particularly the rain that is going to last through Friday night I don’t see it happening. Going to be a nice weekend so I’ll have to figure out what I can do closer to home. Weather is only going to improve as summer approaches and once I make up my mind on the screen house for camping I’ll have a black fly free zone for enjoying a long weekend camping.

Tonight will rain. The rain could be heavy at times. ๐ŸŒง Low of 53 degrees at 6am. Nine degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 30th. Maximum dew point of 52 at 4am. ๐Ÿ–๏ธ Southeast wind 11 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 42 degrees. The record low of 28 occurred back in 2008.

Tonight will have a First Quarter ๐ŸŒ“ Moon with 54% illuminated. At 9 PM, the moon was in the southwest (225ยฐ) at an altitude of 61ยฐ from the horizon, some 230,996 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by October 22nd. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บ The Flower ๐ŸŒท Moon is on Thursday, May 7. The darkest hour is at 12:53 am, followed by dawn at 5:21 am, and sun starting to rise at 5:52 am in the east-northeast (69ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 6 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 22 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:31 am with sun in the east-northeast (75ยฐ). Tonight will have 9 hours and 54 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 30 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will rain before 10am, then a chance of showers between 10am and 3pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3pm. ๐ŸŒฆ High of 63 degrees at 3pm. One degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 29th. Maximum dew point of 54 at 1pm. ๐Ÿ–๏ธ Southeast wind around 6 mph becoming light and variable. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies. The high last year was 56 degrees. The record high of 86 was set in 2001. There was a dusting of snow in 1978.โ„

In four weeks on May 28 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (301ยฐ) at 8:23 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 28 minutes and 47 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had rain showers, mostly cloudy and temperatures between 57 and 50 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 73 and 51 degrees. The record high of 93 degrees was set back in 2016.

Looking ahead, Flower Moon ๐ŸŒ• is in 1 week.

Hunter Mountain Fire Tower

April 30, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Where did April go? It was quartined. Cold and tardy was the spring, โ„ I’m surprised how little green there is even in the city. May looks like it will be cold. ๐ŸŒทSome years we hit 80 degrees in April, that was not to be this year. Next Thursday is Flower Moon ๐ŸŒ•. Cloudy with rain on the way around 52 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜” There is a south-southeast breeze at 10 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. I have my windows open, maybe I should close them soon. The skies will clear Saturday around 9 am.

Today will have showers likely, mainly after 11am. Cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 60 degrees at 4pm. Four degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 19th. Maximum dew point of 50 at 5pm. Breezy, with a southeast wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to 16 to 21 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 37 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies. The high last year was 51 degrees. The record high of 86 was set in 1903. There was a dusting of snow in 2008.โ„

I have that meeting mid-day ๐Ÿ’ผ and then after I’m going to probably try out the Aldi’s in Colonie to get the food ๐Ÿฒ I didn’t get at Walmart this past weekend. Aldi is small and easy for shopping which is good in the Coronavirus Era when you want to get in and out quickly and it’s hard to see anything under the bandana over the face. ๐Ÿ˜ท

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:53 pm with sun having an altitude of 62.3ยฐ from the due south horizon (-8.5ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 3.1 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. No shadow from the sun today. Going to rain. โ˜” The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:16 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (285ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (292ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:55 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 7 seconds with dusk around 8:25 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the First Quarter ๐ŸŒ“ Moon in the south-southwest (210ยฐ) at an altitude of 65ยฐ from the horizon, 231,049 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:04 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 58 degrees. The dew point will be 49 degrees. Breezy, 22 mph breeze โ›… from the south-southeast with gusts up to 34mph. Kind of a wet wild night. But I’ll stay home. Make the Coronavirus Uncles police ๐Ÿšจ crazies happy ๐Ÿ˜Š. Today will have 14 hours and 4 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 30 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will rain. The rain could be heavy at times. ๐ŸŒง Said so definite. Low of 51 degrees at 4am. Eight degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 27th. Maximum dew point of 52 at 3am. ๐Ÿ–๏ธ Breezy, with a south wind 15 to 20 mph decreasing to 9 to 14 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 42 degrees. The record low of 28 occurred back in 2008.

No further evidence of Lyme at the tick bite.๐ŸŽฏ I’m checking twice a day for a bulls eye and will get a picture and call ๐Ÿ“ž insurance about telemedicine should it be necessary. Not been feeling that sick today which is good but drowsy with the cold and wet weather so I made a second pot of coffee โ˜• up. Days really aren’t the same when your not getting up and taking the bus ๐Ÿš to work.

The weekend is now looking quite nice. โ˜€ Saturday, a slight chance of showers before 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 68. Northwest wind 9 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. Maximum dew point of 44 at 6am. Sunday, partly sunny, with a high near 68. Maximum dew point of 47 at 6pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 65 degrees. Should be nice but I expect the bugs to be bad and swarming around a lot if I decide to camp and hang out in the hammock.

I am once again thinking about getting out of town this weekend. โ›บ Not sure were I will go or if I will have on Friday as it will rain โ˜” through the evening. Trails might be quite wet. I’m expecting the bugs to be fairly bad too. ๐Ÿœ I’ll have to think about it some more if I don’t get out of town the question ๐Ÿ™‹ becomes when will the next time I can get away. Not sure if I will want to do that hike ๐Ÿšถ I was planning as that trail will be soaked. I guess I could wear my muck boots but they aren’t great for long hikes. To be decided. I should decide relatively early as that may change what I buy at the store. ๐Ÿฌ

It looks like May is going to be pretty wet and cold. โ˜ I don’t see us hitting eighty any time soon but I’m sure once the pattern changes it will get super hot. โ™จ I wonder if all month I’ll be working from home or some normalcy will return. Not going to be fun working from home if it’s really hot and I don’t have air conditioning although I guess I can bring my work laptop and phone and work down by the river if I’m doing number crunching or something that doesn’t require much data. ๐Ÿ“ถ

I have a bunch more videos and photos ๐Ÿ“ท to upload but I don’t see that happening until Monday, as it kind of cold and wet to work out of my truck ๐Ÿ’ป on the library Wi-Fi. With the new blog layout dash cam photo snaps work nicely when they’re uploaded. I think I’ve fixed the bug ๐Ÿ› in the uploading code yesterday but I’m sure I’ll discover future glitches.

As previously noted, next Thursday is Flower Moon ๐ŸŒ• when the sun will be setting at 8:02 pm with dusk at 8:34 pm. On that day in 2019, we had partly cloudy, rain showers and temperatures between 66 and 49 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 67 degrees. We hit a record high of 92 back in 1930.

Main Street

April 29, 2020 Night

Good evening! Cloudy and 54 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ Breezy, ๏ธ16 mph breeze from the south-southeast ๐ŸŒฌ . The skies will clear Saturday around 2 pm.

No real rain yet โ˜”, I went for my evening walk earlier. I also went to Five Rivers for a walk and to update the blog towards the end of the day. Nice weather to start out the day but it kind of slipped downhill as the day progressed. Had a brief rain shower before I went for my evening walk. ๐Ÿšถ

Tonight will have isolated sprinkles before midnight, then a chance of showers, mainly after 3am. Cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 46 degrees at 6am. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 11th. Breezy, with a south wind 16 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2019, we had partly cloudy skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 38 degrees. The record low of 25 occurred back in 1874.

Tonight will have a First Quarter ๐ŸŒ“ Moon with 43% illuminated. At 10 PM, the moon was in the west (260ยฐ) at an altitude of 45ยฐ from the horizon, some 233,363 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by October 23rd. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บ The Flower ๐ŸŒท Moon is on Thursday, May 7. The darkest hour is at 12:53 am, followed by dawn at 5:22 am, and sun starting to rise at 5:53 am in the east-northeast (69ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 6 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 24 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:32 am with sun in the east-northeast (76ยฐ). On sunny โ˜€ it’s bright out super early. Tonight will have 9 hours and 56 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 29 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will rain likely, mainly after noon. Cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a high of 61 degrees at 4pm. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 22nd. Maximum dew point of 50 at 4pm. Breezy, with a southeast wind 18 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. Tomorrow night into Friday is when the soaker will occur. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 51 degrees. The record high of 86 was set in 1903. There was a dusting of snow in 2008.โ„

Did some more research and I’m leaning towards the Coleman screened room for camping. ๐ŸŽช The 10×10′ size as that’s plenty of room for setting up my camp tables and having a chair in there away from the bugs with space to spare. I don’t want something too big as the campsites I’m often in are small. I’ll try to decide by the weekend there is a few more models I’m looking at. I doubt I’ll use it but on long weekend trips during black fly season and my summer vacation. It will be so nice to be able to sit outside of the truck cap when it’s super buggy out.

So far no bulls eye around the tick bite ๐ŸŽฏso I’m hopeful that I don’t have Lyme Disease although it does feel a bit that way in my arm and the tick was in there for a while. Once I do see the rash I’ll snap a picture and figure out the telemedicine benefit with my job. ๐Ÿ“ž I see CVS is heavily advertising their drive through service so that would be easy. I’m not super concerned as I’m very familiar with doxycycline ๐Ÿ’Š but I am ticked about getting Lyme so quickly again.

I’m looking at the forecast and I don’t see this weekend camping trip โ›บ happening. It’s just going to rain too late into Friday and everything will be soaking wet come Saturday. Relatively mild but still cold. I’d like to see things green up some more then I might go out to Schoharie County for the weekend or maybe even a long weekend. I am still thinking with all the campgrounds and other areas closed the places I like to camp will be packed so I should plan a psuedo Memorial Day Weekend the week before or after. Just take the Friday or Monday off work to celebrate it. I have a lot of time as I haven’t taken any time off since I’ve been working from home the past seven weeks now (wow, yeap). ๐Ÿ€

In four weeks on May 27 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (301ยฐ) at 8:22 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 29 minutes and 3 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly sunny and temperatures between 81 and 55 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 73 and 51 degrees. The record high of 94 degrees was set back in 1914.

Looking ahead, Latest Sunset ๐ŸŒ† is in 8 weeks and Inauguration Day 2021 ๐Ÿ‘ด๐Ÿป is in 38 weeks.

Finger of Rensselaer Lake

April 28, 2020 Night

Good evening! Partly clear and 52 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a north breeze at 5 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Nice evening, sat out back for a while. Evening ๐ŸŒƒ walk was full of moonlight and stars.

A few random things going on at work today ๐Ÿ’ผ but relatively quiet for most of the day. I went out to Five Rivers Environmental Education Center for a walk ๐Ÿธ and the internet. I was super annoyed that I couldn’t upload my Coronavirus map the normal way to the blog – an issue I’m going to research and figure out tomorrow.

I continued to work on my comments and analysis for Save the Pine Bush regarding the development of the apartment complex in the Pine Bush. ๐ŸŒฒLots of rendering maps and studying data. I may also do some interviews for additional background.

Pulled another fully engorged tick ๐Ÿœoff my arm this evening ๐Ÿ™‹, after I noticed my arm was stinging. I am guessing that I have Lyme disease again but I’ll wait for a bulls eye rash to appear. I did feel a bit achy today so I’m sure that’s what I got. ๐ŸŽฏI should have checked more carefully after hiking back through the brush on Saturday at Partridge Run. ๐ŸŒฒ I’ll have to figure out the telemedicine thing which sucks as I don’t have internet at home but I can probably take pictures and go to the library to get Wi-Fi if necessary. I guess the first step is to call ๐Ÿ“ž the nurse line if I am sure I have Lyme. Doxycline is $5 and approved telemedicine is free ๐Ÿ†“ during Coronavirus but I just hope that I don’t get super sick from Lyme. ๐Ÿ˜ท

Tonight will be partly cloudy ๐ŸŒค, with a low of 38 degrees at 5am. Four degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 18th. North wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. In 2019, we had clear skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 31 degrees. The record low of 27 occurred back in 1947.

Tonight will have a Waxing Crescent ๐ŸŒ’ Moon with 32% illuminated. At 10 PM, the moon was in the west (271ยฐ) at an altitude of 36ยฐ from the horizon, some 236,130 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by October 24th. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บYou don’t want to go to the hospital ๐Ÿฅ during a pandemic due to an aborted mission to space. Click it or ticket ๐ŸŽซ from the space cops. ๐Ÿ‘ฎ I bet social distancing is hard in zero gravity. The Flower ๐ŸŒท Moon is on Thursday, May 7. The darkest hour is at 12:54 am, followed by dawn at 5:24 am, and sun starting to rise at 5:54 am in the east-northeast (70ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 6 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 25 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:33 am with sun in the east-northeast (76ยฐ). Tonight will have 9 hours and 59 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 32 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have a slight chance of showers after 1pm. Increasing clouds โ›… with a high of 56 degrees at 1pm. Eight degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 11th. Light southeast wind becoming south 8 to 13 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 58 degrees. The record high of 88 was set in 1888. 1 inch of snow fell back in 1885.โ„

Not a real wash out tomorrow ๐Ÿ’ฆbut the heavy rain comes Thursday into Friday – probably multiple inches of good soaking rain. โ˜” Rain is a good thing. While we’ve had a lot of dreary days in April with some showers things are still quite dry as we go into May and a good soaker would be a good thing. I am a bit concerned about how though it will infringe on my weekend plans – right now the rain looks to continue into Friday night into Saturday. Maybe it won’t be a good weekend to get away? A lot depends on this tick bite and if it develops into full blown Lyme. I should have checked more carefully last weekend.

In four weeks on May 26 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (300ยฐ) at 8:21 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 29 minutes and 17 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly sunny and temperatures between 86 and 57 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 72 and 50 degrees. The record high of 94 degrees was set back in 2010.

Looking ahead, Cinco de Mayo ๐Ÿค  is in 1 week, Primary Day ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ is in 8 weeks, Election Day 2020 ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ is in 27 weeks and Election Day 2020 ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ is in 27 weeks.

April 28, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Tuesday. Second gear of the week. ๐Ÿ”…That grinds my gears. Not really required we should be able to jump to Hump Day, say the camel dairymen of the world. ๐Ÿช But I’m old enough to remember taking the bus to work and lementing Tuesday on the bus. Next Tuesday is Cinco de Mayo ๐Ÿค . Taco Tuesday too. I wonder if we will be able to get Corona beer with the breweries shut down. ๐Ÿป Protest movement! โœŠ Overcast and 42 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ There is a northwest breeze at 6 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Not a very nice morning so far but it will get nice out later. The skies will clear around 9 am. โ˜€

Hoping to work outside most of the day ๐Ÿ˜Ž and soak up some sun. And then maybe go to the library or Five Rivers so I can upload the remainder of the photos from the weekend and get some fresh air and podcasts. Pay day too but that doesn’t change much as most of the money will be going towards rent. ๐Ÿ’ต I also want to shorten my list ๐Ÿ“ƒ of screened rooms for camping so I can order by next weekend and have for the black fly season of Memorial Day Weekend.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:54 pm with sun having an altitude of 61.7ยฐ from the due south horizon (-9.1ยฐ vs. 6/21). At sunset, look for mostly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 57 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Should be a great evening.
