Good morning! Happy Sunday. Next Sunday is First Sunday of Advent ✝️. Rain and 39 degrees in Voorheesville. β˜” There is a northwest breeze at 5 mph. 🍃. There is a inch of snow on the ground. β˜ƒ ️Temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow around 4 am. β˜ƒοΈ

Today will rain, mainly before 10am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy 🌧, with a high of 44 degrees at 1pm. Typical for today. Not great weather but so be it. West wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies with more clouds in the afternoon. The high last year was 52 degrees. The record high of 64 was set in 2004. 21.8 inches of snow fell back in 1971.❄

The sun will set at 4:25 pm with dusk around 4:56 pm, which is 33 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies 🌃 andtemperatures around 43 degrees. There will be a west breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 9 hours and 25 minutes of daytime, a decrease of one minute and 42 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy 🌥, with a low of 32 degrees at 5am. Three degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical night around November 16th. Light and variable wind. In 2017, we had cloudy skies. It got down to 35 degrees. The record low of -11 occurred back in 1938.

Yesterday, I went for a nice walk to Voorheesville via the rail trail. 🏃Walking is healthy and it avoids motoring. I try to drive as little as possible, especially in the winter. Gasoline is expensive, no sense in wasting it when there are places to walk to locally. I’m trying to save money wherever possible avoiding unnecessary trips and making affordable meals, turning down the heat and lights off.

I want to get up to woods and camp and maybe hunt next weekend but not until big game season is over and I can have the woods to myself. Or mostly over in the sense of the northern zone. β›ΊI don’t like sitting on a ridge looking across the way to other hunters. I guess if I didn’t live in the suburbs and did deer I’d feel another way. The forecast looks nice for Saturday but again I’m concerned about the Sunday forecast. It’s possible that I don’t get away until spring time. 🌄

I built and tested on a breadboard the Bluetooth control for the light over my bed. It works well, :idea:although when I build the final version I want to use thicker wire with less resistance as this will provide more power to the LEDs and more brightness. Using the thin Dupont cables to power it cut both power consumption and brightness in half. Took several tries to get the code right and eventually I would like to write a custom Android app to control everything from my phone. But for now the Android Bluetooth Controller app works fine.

I still haven’t attempted to disassemble my laptop 💻to see how truly difficult it will be to access the M.2 slot for adding the SSD drive. I’m very low on disk space and while I could delete files I think an SSD drive is a good thing to speed up my laptop as a midlife overhaul. Once I get my laptop opened successfully I’ll keep an eye out on Cyber Monday to see if there is a good price on a one TB drive.

As previously noted, next Sunday is First Sunday of Advent ✝️ when the sun will be setting at 4:22 pm with dusk at 4:54 pm. On that day in 2017, we had mostly cloudy skies and temperatures between 41 and 26 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 41 degrees. We hit a record high of 66 back in 1998.

November 19, 2018 Night

Good evening! Light snow and 33 degrees in Delmar. ❄ Calm wind. There is around 2 inches of snow on the ground. β˜ƒ ️Temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow around 1 am. β˜ƒοΈ

Tonight will snow. 🌨 Low of 31 degrees at 4am. Typical for tonight. It really has to get a bit cooler before the snow will accumulate. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible. In 2017, we had mostly cloudy skies, clearing in the early hours of the next day. It got down to 30 degrees. The record low of 6 occurred back in 1986.

Tonight will have a Waxing Gibbous Moon 🌔 with 89% illuminated. The moon will set at 3:39 am. The Beaver Moon🌕 is on Thursday night with a slight chance of snow showers and breezy. The sun will rise at 6:52 am with the first light at 6:22 am, which is one minute and 13 seconds later than yesterday. 🌄 Tonight will have 14 hours and 24 minutes of darkness, an increase of one minute and 58 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will snow likely before noon, then a chance of rain showers. Cloudy 🌦, with a high of 39 degrees at 3pm. Seven degrees below normal, which is similiar to a typical day around December 6th. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 42 degrees. The record high of 72 was set in 1991. 3.4 inches of snow fell back in 1961.❄

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. πŸ˜• Saturday, a chance of rain after 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 39. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Sunday, a chance of rain. Cloudy, with a high near 41. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Typical average high for the weekend is 44 degrees.

Kind of a busy day with a lot of different things going on. I was hoping to get to Cynthia Poolers fundraiser for the Reszin Adams documentary but I got stuck with work and it would have been pretty late by the time🎬 I got there, and it was all the way up in Colonie. Maybe I can mail a check. I probably should have gone.

This evening I continued to work on several electronics projects, including upgrading my VMS ticker display to a lolin32 board from an Arduino. The extra memory means I’m not always so crushed for space,📱 I can do some graphics now and eventually will add updates via Bluetooth. The computing power, low energy consumption and low cost of the small development boards is nothing short of amazing. Remember, it wasn’t that long ago that everybody still used mechanical devices like cam timers. 🔗

I also started to work on a new reading lamp / light for over my bed to make getting up on dark winter mornings easier. The blue light from the colored strips helped that I built last winter but they have poor color rendition so I adding a warm white strip over my bed. I do need to get another 12 volt power supply, I’m going to order that next week. The idea is it will eventually talk to the other strip using Bluetooth. Just because I don’t have internet at home, doesn’t mean I can’t build nice low power, smart devices that can make my life better.

Many of the devices I’m building aren’t perfect, but I am learning a lot about electricity, microprocessors, and communication buses. 🔬 It’s useful knowledge that I can use going forward.

In four weeks on December 17 the sun will be setting at 4:23 pm,🌄 which is 5 minutes and 33 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2017 on that day, we had partly cloudy skies and temperatures between 27 and 8 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 35 and 21 degrees. The record high of 59 degrees was set back in 1984.

Looking ahead, Cyber Monday 🛍️ is in 1 weeks, New Years Eve 🎆 is in 6 weeks, Martin Luther King Day 🖤 is in 9 weeks, Average High is 40 β˜€οΈ is in 15 weeks, Daylight Savings Time 🌆 is in 16 weeks and Last Sunset After 8:30 PM 🌆 is in 34 weeks. That’s a ways out.

Cold Afternoon on Mary Smith Hill

November 18, 2018 Night

Good evening! Light snow and 31 degrees in Delmar. ❄ A very fine snow, not really accumulating on the ground as the air is very dry. Calm wind. There is 3.5 inches of snow on the ground. β˜ƒ With the dry air and warmer temperatures it was melting fast today, in the burbs it’s not expected to last until we get more snow tomorrow. ️Things will start to thaw out at tomorrow around 2 am as temperatures warm over night. 🌡️

Tonight will be periods of snow before 3am, then a chance of rain, snow, and sleet between 3am and 4am, then a chance of rain after 4am. 🌨 Low of 31 degrees at 10pm. Typical for tonight. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total nighttime snow and sleet accumulation of around an inch possible. In 2017, we had light rain in the evening, remaining overcast into the early morning. It got down to 33 degrees. The record low of 12 occurred back in 1972.

Tonight will have a Waxing Gibbous Moon 🌔 with 82% illuminated. The moon will set at 2:35 am. The Beaver Moon 🌕 is on Thanksgiving night with scattered snow showers for your turkey trotting. The sun will rise at 6:51 am with the first light at 6:21 am, which is one minute and 14 seconds later than yesterday. 🌄 Tonight will have 14 hours and 22 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and one second over last night. That’s depressing as we get closer to winter, not that you wouldn’t notice with all the cold weather and predicted snow in the forecast. Wednesday and Thursday will be nice, just very cold.

Tomorrow will have a chance of rain and snow, mainly before 9am. Mostly cloudy 🌧, with a high of 41 degrees at 1pm. Six degrees below normal, which is similiar to a typical day around December 1st. Always like to keep it in context. Calm wind becoming northwest around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies. The high last year was 52 degrees. The record high of 71 was set in 1921. 4.2 inches of snow fell back in 1914.❄

I went out to a my parents house for Sunday dinner. Mom made her world famous lasagna and like usual it was pretty good. 🍝 I mean I probably could make something similar like that if I wanted but probably not as good as mom makes it. I also did my wash and sheets, the first time my sheets have been done since September, but I was gone for nearly two months.

Went for my evening walk. 🏃At first my the sleet hitting my face was cold but in the end wasn’t that bad. I also stepped on a thumb tack earlier today which hurt a bit now but wasn’t so bad for most of the day. It was in deep and a bit difficult to pull out but I think it will be good although I really should get my MMP booster or whatever it’s called especially when you hear about the kids getting whopping cough from school and getting very sick.

I worked up some scripts on my computer tonight that allows me to mark YouTube videos and then download them in the background, so I can take them home from the library with ease. 🎥 This way I can watch them at home without an internet connection. My script is simple enough to use – I copy the video location into my clipboard, hit meta – c and it will mark the address in a file then ask if I want to download all the marked video into my home watching folder. Works well. If I hit yes, it uses the YOUTUBE-DL script to scrape the page and download the video then once all the marked videos are downloaded it opens them up in vlc player. No advertising this way and I can watch them at home whenever without internet.

Tomorrow night I want to start building the permanent board for my Lolin32 based sign display board driver and maybe start working on the warm white led strip lamp that will set above my bed and eventually provide light for reading and waking up on the dark winter mornings. I still need to get a power supply for that but ultimately I expect it will be Arduino Nano controlled and use a Bluetooth connection to communicate with the colored lights on the other side of the room to control timing and turning it on and off. I’ll use the infrared TV remote I bought a while back for both with the bright warm white led light coming on automatically each morning to help make dark mornings more pleasant to awaken in.

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. πŸ˜• Saturday, a chance of rain and snow showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 37. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Sunday, a chance of rain and snow showers. Cloudy, with a high near 39. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Typical average high for the weekend is 44 degrees. It’s going to be another cold and gray week, I will probably stay in town again. I do need to get my truck inspected at some point.

In four weeks on December 16 the sun will be setting at 4:23 pm,🌄 which is 6 minutes and 39 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2017 on that day, we had snow, cloudy skies and temperatures between 31 and 11 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 36 and 21 degrees. The record high of 55 degrees was set back in 1971.

Looking ahead, First Sunday of Advent ✝️ is in 2 weeks, Earliest Sunset of the Year βŒ›οΈ is in 3 weeks, St. Patrick’s Day 🍀 is in 17 weeks, 7:30 PM Sunset 🌇 is in 20 weeks, Palm Sunday 🌴 is in 21 weeks, Average High is 60 🌼 is in 5 months, Easter 🐰 and Earth Day 🌎 is in 22 weeks, Cinco de Mayo 🤠 is in 24 weeks, Mothers Day 👩‍ is in 25 weeks and Fathers Day 👨 is in 30 weeks.

November 13, 2018 Night

Good evening! Light snow and 29 degrees in Cooperstown. ❄ There is a west-northwest breeze at 13 mph. πŸƒ. Things will start to thaw out at Friday around 11 am. 🌑️

Tonight will snow showers likely, mainly after 1am. Mostly cloudy 🌧, with a low of 20 degrees at 6am. 12 degrees below normal, which is similiar to a typical night around December 18th. Maximum wind chill around 9 at 5am; West wind 11 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of around 2 inches. In 2017, we had cloudy skies. It got down to 32 degrees. The record low of 12 occurred back in 1996.

Tomorrow will snow showers likely, mainly before 9am, then a chance of snow showers with scattered flurries after 5pm. Mostly cloudy 🌦, with a high of 28 degrees at 2pm. 21 degrees below normal. Northwest wind 9 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 40 degrees. The record high of 70 was set in 1973. 14.4 inches of snow fell back in 1972.❄

I’m glad I made it out here before the roads froze up, as the temperature kept dropping as I headed out this way and the wind was really whipping around on Interstate 88, and for a while it was sleeting hard making visiblity difficult. Having the headlights well adjusted did help though a lot. Fortunately, it seems like the road salt will keep things from getting too icy right away. Having a good burger at the Cooperstown Dinner πŸ” and then going down for a swim in the indoor swimming then in the hot tub at the place I’m staying made up for it. Sometimes work trips are fun. 😎 Nice digs, at least for the night. But a busy today tomorrow.

Much more fun on a cold night like today then camping up in the wilderness somewhere in the wilderness,πŸ• although if the snow disappears in December I probably will camp and maybe hunt up at Cherry Ridge in Charles Baker State Forest.Β My theory is we will get a big warm up with rain in mid-December, taking away the snow but maybe that’s wishful thinking. That was fun camping on Christmas Day 2015, not too cold that year, and it was a great hike at the Glimmerglass State Park. US 20 isn’t that far north of the northern part of the lake. Maybe I’ll have to visit the Cooperstown dinner again the next time I’m out here.

Truck has been working great, ever since I topped off the tires.☸ I guess I haven’t had the wheels in a hard lock, although I did rub a little on the wheel well backing out before, but I haven’t noticed any unusual noises since I raised the tire pressures up to 46 PSI cold. Some of them before I added air where about 39 PSI, which with those big tires is much too low, causing a lot of noise and poor handling on the curves. This might be too high for mid-summer when I’m off road and would lead to a rough ride, but for now the handling is superior and the ride is only slightly rougher on the bumps. I got to keep an eye on the tire pressure now that it’s getting to the colder time of the year.

I downloaded some of John Burrough’s audio books from LibreVox on my phone. I had no idea that my podcast program also is tied in LibreVox.πŸ”Š I keep meaning to listen to some of Borrough’s writings, I’ve been very interested ever since visiting the Borrough’s State Historic site. I might listen to them for a while tonight. We will see, it depends how difficult it is to get to sleep, or how much I listen to them before i’m head out. I have a long day tomorrow, probably with more driving after dark. But at least my headlights are well aimed now.

I still haven’t found my electronic projects wire strippers. Really fustrating. The ones I have aren’t an expensive tool, βœ‚ but a very essential one for building electronics. I will have to order another pear this weekend if I can’t find them. I don’t think I can get them locally, nowadays with Radio Shack gone.

Not a particularly nice weekend on tap. 😞 Saturday, mostly cloudy, with a high near 38. Sunday, mostly cloudy, with a high near 31. Typical average high for the weekend is 47 degrees. Maybe it will be nicer up north, but by then I expect they will have a ton of snow up there. If it’s sunnier and without new snow falling, I might try to get up north to do some tent hot camping this weekend. I though will have to plan on bringing my snow shovel, then digging out a parking spot, then moving my truck to campsite, as I expect a ton of snow up north.πŸ” Good for skiing though. A few inches of snow in Cooperstown, depending where you look. The mountains sure sure looked snowier around Interstate 88, probably too much snow to do the back roads in Burnt-Rossman State Forest any time soon.

In four weeks on December 11 the sun will be setting at 4:26 pm,πŸŒ„ which is 12 minutes and 8 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2017 on that day, we had snow, cloudy skies and temperatures between 34 and 24 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 37 and 23 degrees. The record high of 61 degrees was set back in 1952.

Sorry, if I’ve been too negative lately. 😠 It’s just tough adjusting to winter, which seems to have come so quickly. I wish I could have made my autumn road trip happen, it kind of sucks to have to put it off. But then again, I can’t control the snow or anything else that is going on.🌨 I’m still hoping the snow won’t set in for the year, but if it does, spring will eventually come, and then eventually the mud season will end and all the back country roads will open again.

Looking ahead, Christmas πŸŽ… is in 6 weeks, New Years Day 2019 πŸŽ‰ is in 7 weeks, 36th Birthday πŸŽ‰ is in 11 weeks, Daylight Savings Time πŸŒ† is in 17 weeks, Hottest Time of the Year πŸ˜… is in 8 months, Last Sunset After 8:30 PM πŸŒ† is in 35 weeks and Election Day 2020 πŸ—³οΈ is in 103 weeks.

November 2, 2018 Morning

Good morning! Yeah, it’s Friday! Three weeks to Buy Nothing Day πŸ›οΈ. Or as I like to call it, camping, hiking, and hunting day as my office is usually closed that day. Seems like it’s coming upon us early this year, but I guess Thanksgiving is early and Election day is late. Dark and rainy morning but very mild around 49 degrees in North Syracuse. β˜” Mild enough that the cruise control worked right away after I started up the truck, often in the cold it takes a while for it to work. Calm wind. Finally, the sun is rising now, it’s so dark driving into the office at 7 AM. At least the time changes on Sunday with MORE SUN!! 😎 The skies will clear Sunday around 7 am. Okay, the days don’t actually get longer but we might actually see the sun for a change. That’s a goo dthing.

Today will have a chance of showers, mainly before 3pm. Mostly cloudy πŸŒ₯, with a high of 61 degrees at 12pm. Eight degrees above normal. If we are lucky, we might even see some so breaks of sun, especially later on in the afternoon. Maximum dew point of 54 at 11am. Calm wind becoming west 5 to 9 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly cloudy skies with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 68 degrees. The record high of 82 was set in 1950. 0.1 inches of snow fell back in 1911.❄

The sun will set at 5:54 pm with dusk around 6:24 pm, which is one minute and 18 seconds earlier than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for rain ☁ and 54 degrees. The dew point will be 49 degrees. There will be a west breeze at 6 mph. Tomorrow will have 10 hours and 10 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 33 seconds over today.

Tonight will have a chance of showers. Mostly cloudy ☁, with a low of 42 degrees at 5am. Six degrees above normal. West wind 3 to 6 mph. Just so cloudy. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2017, we had cloudy skies with some clearing in the early hours of the next day. It got down to 41 degrees. The record low of 20 occurred back in 1980.

There are 4 days, 14 hours and 20 minutes until the poll close on Election Day in New York. πŸ—³ It’s been one of the worse autumns on record for sunny skies, and apparently for seeing autumn colors. But I don’t care that much, I’ve been rather busy, making the money. πŸ‘· One day last week when we actually had a some sun, the colors were decent in the North Syracuse, but other then it’s been an autumn that isn’t that great.πŸ‚ I am sure by the time I’m on my road trip, there won’t be any leaves on trees in most places that I will be.

I was in the office before seven AM — although I have to admit that has more to do with moving my truck from the driveway of the place where I am staying so I’m so the people I am staying with can get to work. πŸš— Plus I want to get in the habit of getting up earlier, especially with the time change and my road trip coming up, so it’s easy to get in position back in the woods before the sun rises. I am planning to go also go for an early morning on Sunday morning, as it will be the last one before I leave Syracuse one last night.

So certainly within a week from now I will be starting my November trip, although increasingly I am thinking about leaving on Thursday. We will see, it depends on how quickly I can get packed and unpacked. I also want to get a haircut before my trip, πŸ’ˆespecially because I don’t want my hair to get too matted and icky with a week in the back-country without showering.🚿 A lot depends on the weather, but I do want to get out on my trip as soon as possible, because I want to spend two nights camping in Nelson,πŸ• then a full, nice day to see Montezuma and Chimney Bluffs State Park before heading down to the Finger Lakes National Forest before dusk. πŸ”₯ The first two days can be cloudy, but I want nice weather for the Chimney Bluffs part of the trip.

I got paid yesterday, and I have some extra money again, so I will be saving that and buying another Big CD at the end of the month when one the one I currently have expires. πŸ€‘ I would invest more of it but I think the markets really are overpriced, and with the higher interest rates, CDs aren’t that awful of a deal. Every dollar saved, is one I can put forward towards my future and eventually owning my own land. I am always looking for ways to save money, put a little more away. Maybe it’s a decade more away, but it’s decade of learning, thinking, planning, a saving.

As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until Buy Nothing Day πŸ›οΈ when the sun will be setting at 4:34 pm with dusk at 5:05 pm (Standard Time). On that day in 2017, we had mostly cloudy skies and temperatures between 37 and 27 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 45 degrees. We hit a record high of 72 back in 1931.

Scrap Wood and Paper Makes a Big Fire

October 31, 2018 Morning

Good morning! Happy Halloween πŸŽƒ. Next Wednesday is Day After Election Day. πŸ›€ Honestly, though all that campaign literature doesn’t burn that well in my experience, although maybe if you pulped them up into logsΒ  like the videos on the internet show it might work better.Β πŸ”₯ We got more rain showers, breaks of sun, clouds, and 44 degrees in North Syracuse. 🌦 There is a southeast breeze at 9 mph. πŸƒ. It’s very rare that we have nice weather around these parts. Looking ahead to the next time of good weather, the skies will clear Sunday around 7 am.🌀

Today will have showers, mainly after 1pm.🌧 High of 60 degrees at 2pm. Six degrees above normal. South wind 9 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies. The high last year was 54 degrees. The record high of 73 was set in 1946. 0.1 inches of snow fell back in 1913.❄

The sun will set at 5:57 pm with dusk around 6:26 pm, which is one minute and 21 seconds earlier than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for rain 🌧 and 58 degrees. The dew point will be 51 degrees. There will be a south-southwest breeze at 10 mph. Today will have 10 hours and 18 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 37 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have showers likely, mainly before midnight. Cloudy 🌧, with a low of 47 degrees at 5am. 11 degrees above normal. West wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2017, we had mostly cloudy skies with some clearing in the early hours of the next day. It got down to 34 degrees. The record low of 22 occurred back in 1964.

There are 6 days,Β  11 hours and 2 minutes until the poll close on Election Day in New York. πŸ—³ Day by day it’s getting closer. All I can say is I will be glad once it’s over. I am already starting to carefully make my plans for once it’s over, the days and times of places where I will go and camp over the following week.πŸ• In the very long range, based on the 8-14 day outlook, the weather doesn’t look real nice but maybe it won’t be a wash-out. I guess I can take gray days for my trip, as that’s been about the best we can do in recent months. Hopefully there will still be enough sun that with a little driving I’ll be able to keep things charged up.

After giving it a lot of though, I decided not to head down to Elk Country this year on my November road trip. I thought about getting a permit to camp at Hicks Run, 🦌 but I decided against it on grounds that it would be a much longer trip, and right the weather looks kind of marginal. plus I want to spend more nights at one place or another and less time driving, especially because now I don’t have to worry about topping off the starting battery.

As previously noted, next Wednesday is Day After Election Day πŸ›€ when the sun will be setting at 4:48 pm with dusk at 5:18 pm (Standard Time). On that day in 2017, we had cloudy skies and temperatures between 43 and 33 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 51 degrees. We hit a record high of 75 back in 1938.

Tower

October 30, 2018 Night

Good evening! Mostly clear and 40 degrees in North Syracuse.🌌 Calm wind.

It’s actually a really nice evening after a really nice weather wise day for a change, 😎 although it was a busy day so I was trapped all day in the office, only escaping long enough to get a can of some kind of Chef Boy-r-dee from my truck.🍛 I think I could see the stars through the suburbanite streetlights. 🌃 I’m so sick and tired of being kind of missing my autumn. In a week though, it will all be just a memory. Hopefully a good one.

Tonight will have increasing clouds , ☁ with a low of 39 degrees at 11pm. Four degrees above normal. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph after midnight. In 2017, we had mostly cloudy skies, clearing in the early hours of the next day. It got down to 40 degrees. The record low of 18 occurred back in 1988.

Tonight will is the Last Quarter Moon with 56% illuminated. The moon will set at 2:14 pm. The Last Quarter Moon will be tonight with showers. The Beaver Moon 🌝 is on Thursday, November 22nd. The sun will rise at 7:37 am with the first light at 7:08 am, which is one minute and 17 seconds later than yesterday. 🌄 Tonight will have 13 hours and 40 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 37 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have some breaks of sun then showers, mainly after 2pm. High of 59 degrees at 2pm. 💧 Five degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 52 at 4pm. 🏖️ Southwest wind 7 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies, clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 54 degrees. The record high of 73 was set in 1946. 0.1 inches of snow fell back in 1913.❄

Lately I’ve just become more and more discontented with the suburbanite lifestyle that I see every day on television and my travels for work. 🏡 I’m making the good middle class income now but I don’t want marble countertops or vinyl siding, I’d rather save and invest and have something much more modest with lots of land paid in cash. I know I say that a lot here, but I’m just so discontented with the suburbanite, disposable lifestyle with the big fancy houses. Give me back my mildewy, run down apartment, public transit busses and my weekend adventures in the wilderness. 🚌 I just find so little of that other lifestyle appealing with the debt and the waste.

Maybe it’s just a reflection of having worked so many hours for nearly fifty daywin a place far from home,😴 but these suburbs really aren’t a place I’d ever want to set down roots.🌲The quite rural Oswego County to the north and parts of the southern half of the county are nice but I have nothing good to say about the big suburbs and their fancy houses.

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. πŸ˜• Saturday, a chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 48. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 50. Typical average high for the weekend is 53 degrees. Sunday sounds really nice and with the time change if I get up really early, maybe I’ll be able to get some fresh air before work. Doubt though that I’ll have time to head down to Labrador Hollow one more time. Maybe during my November road trip in a little over a week? 🚗 Although finding a place to camp nearby there is kind of difficult and I’m thinking about a more northerly route for this year’s trip, including visiting Chimney Bluffs State Park.

In four weeks on November 27 the sun will be setting at 4:31 pm (Standard Time),🌄 which is one hour, 26 minutes and 30 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2017 on that day, we had rain, snow, partly cloudy skies and temperatures between 43 and 23 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 43 and 28 degrees. The record high of 66 degrees was set back in 1896. Depending how much snow we get in November, I may do some late season camping and hunting on NY 8 over the Thanksgiving weekend. β›ΊThere’s that one site that has lots of clearing for solar power, has marginal but working cellphone reception and is near hiking trails to boot. But not if it’s snowy or another hunting party had taken it. 🐻

Looking ahead, Election Day 2018 🗳️ is in 1 week, Average Night Below Freezing 🌌 is in 2 weeks, Christmas 🎅 is in 8 weeks, New Years Day 2019 🎉 is in 9 weeks, 36th Birthday 🎉 is in 13 weeks and Election Day 2020 🗳️ is in 105 weeks. The year is rapidly coming to a close. Almost time to say Goodbye 2018. Tomorrow is the final day of October. 🍂
