Good evening! Clear and 49 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒŒ There is a north breeze at 8 mph. ๐Ÿƒ.

Tonight is a bit of a chilly evening. ๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ That breeze definitely makes it feel cold. I went for my evening walk,๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป then sat out back for a little while with my hoodie on enjoying the cool but and clear. A fairly busy day that extended into the evening so I didn’t get a chance to walk down to the park to see if the Wi-Fi works again there. ๐Ÿ“ถ

Tonight will be clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 38 degrees at 6am. 12 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 19th. Northwest wind 5 to 8 mph. 15 weeks left in 2020. ๐ŸŽ‡ Going to be a crazy remainder of the year ๐Ÿคช with the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg โš–. It should be an interesting battle over her successor. But whatever is going to happen will happen although I think they really should wait for the next president to appoint the judge – whether it be the Trumpster or Biden His Time. ๐Ÿ›๏ธ

One thing about her death ๐Ÿฆ†is it got me reading ๐Ÿ“– about the Chesapeake and Baltimore Canal. ๐Ÿšฒ I think I want to check that out the next time I go down to West Virginia, especially if I have a bicycle to ride by then. ๐Ÿ›ฅ๏ธ William O. Douglas did a lot to preserve the canal and the area around Cumberland Maryland is quite beautiful. ๐Ÿž

I am going hiking tomorrow in the Pine Bush ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ๐Ÿฆ‹๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒand then meeting some people for lunch out there. Going to be a beautiful day for sure, but definitely cool day, with temperatures in the 50s all day. My sideburns areย really starting to grow in nicely. ๐Ÿง”๐Ÿฝย It certainly cuts down on the amount I have to shave. I like the sideburns look but it was hot.

Not a half bad Tuesday with lots of meetings and fun stuff to do. ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ Hiked in the Pine Bush for a couple of hours including after dark and went to a socially distant outdoors meeting.

Turbines on the Ridge

September 8, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Tuesday. It’s the Tuesday after Labor Day which normally would mean congested roads from all the school students and parents commuting ๐Ÿšธ. But with the pandemic smoldering all around us with schools closed and remote work that’s not much of a concern this year. ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿš•๐Ÿš›๐Ÿš๐Ÿš‘๐Ÿš“๐Ÿšš Two weeks to Autumn ๐Ÿ‚. Won’t know that today, it’s Indian Summer. ๐Ÿฆ‹

Chance of precipitation is 50%. Maximum dew point of 61 at 1pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 74 degrees.

I doubt the next two weekends I’ll be getting out of town, ๐Ÿก but that could change. I’m still waiting to hear about Piseco Powley Road lower bridge ๐ŸŒ‰ and when it’s going to reopen. I would like to get one more chance to do the Potholers if it isn’t super hot this weekend.

With all the mice in the woods ๐Ÿญ I’m wondering how long it will be they are inside my apartment. The walls bow out in the kitchen making it easy for them to sneak in. Plus I’m a dirty hick ๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿปโ€๐ŸŒพ and while I do try to clean the crumbs up and take the trash and compost out occasionally they never have any shortage to eat. ๐Ÿšฎ I am thinking about building a bucket trap this year to put in the kitchen and see how many I can catch for shits and giggles and because I hate they noise that make on the wall.

Looking forward to my Black Lives Matters flag arriving. ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ–ค While I don’t have any place to hang it at home I’ll definitely have it up at camping and maybe if I attend some of the local protests. โœŠ๐ŸฟโœŠ๐ŸพโœŠ๐ŸฝโœŠ๐ŸผโœŠ๐Ÿป Seems like a popular things to day and a fitting thing for my collection. Injustice one place is injustice everywhere. ๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿพโ€โ™€๏ธ

June 28, 2020 Night

Good evening! Cloudy, damoand 69 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ›… Calm wind. The dew point is 66 degrees. Dew point makes it a bit muggy. The skies will clear around 10 pm.

All day the weather has been quite unstable โšก so I decided to Stay Home and get unpacked and get caught up on sleep. I was going to go to mom and dad’s house but decided against it when the weather was too dicey for an outdoor picnic. Sunday dinner or sitting around the living room with masks ๐Ÿ˜ท on doesn’t sound like much fun and is kind of risky to boot. Coronavirus is in hiding right now but you never know if you might have picked it up along the way somewhere, although I doubt I’d had the close personal contact for a length of time necessary to pick it up. Better safe than sorry. That said, I do realize time is limited and I should try to get out there the next time the weather is nice and sit outside and talk before it’s too late. โŒ›

Speaking of procrastination I’ve decided to take a wait and see approach on Big Red. ๐Ÿš˜ The noise I’m hearing only is occasional and I’m not sure I want to take it back to the shop ๐Ÿช I went to that didn’t know much about the lift kit. I’d rather take it Watkins Spring next but the thing is that it would be a lot more convenient to drop it off once I’m working back downtown again. NYC is in Stage 3 of the reopening and Upstate is Stage 4, so I can’t imagine it’s long before the buses ๐Ÿšfull restart and I’m working downtown again. ๐Ÿข I don’t think it’s safety critical but I’d rather get it properly adjusted or broken parts replaced before I’m stranded in the remote back country or I chew up other expensive hardware.

I am planning to stay in town for the Fourth of July ๐ŸŽ† just because I just was out camping for ten days and I expect the back country to be crowded with most of the developed campgrounds operating at limited capacity. โ›บ I guess I could tent camp somewhere locally in the back country but for now that’s not on the agenda.

Later in July I’ll probably take my formal vacation. ๐Ÿ˜Ž The one where I’m not writing memos and reports ๐Ÿ“ and taking calls all day long. ๐Ÿ“ž Where cell service is non essential. This year I’m thinking the Tug Hill Plateau and Western Adirondacks and Saint Lawrence County but nothing is set in stone. I might also take a long weekend up to the Potholers and Piseco-Powley Road but I’ll have to enter from the north end as the Fulton County section of the road is closed.

Tonight will be scattered showers and thunderstorms before 2am, then a slight chance of showers between 2am and 3am. Patchy fog after 3am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 64 degrees at 3am. Four degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 66 at 9pm. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 30%. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became light rain by the early hours of the morning. It was humid. It got down to 70 degrees. The record low of 44 occurred back in 1981.

Tonight will have a First Quarter ๐ŸŒ“ Moon with 59% illuminated. At 9 PM, the moon was in the south-southwest (207ยฐ) at an altitude of 41ยฐ from the horizon, some 226,288 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by December 17th. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บ The Buck ๐ŸฆŒ Moon is on Saturday, July 4. The darkest hour is at 12:59 am, followed by dawn at 4:46 am, and sun starting to rise at 5:21 am in the east-northeast (57ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 28 seconds. Sunrise is 26 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:04 am with sun in the east-northeast (64ยฐ). Tonight will have 8 hours and 43 minutes of darkness, an increase of 32 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have a slight chance of showers between 8am and 10am, then scattered showers and thunderstorms after 10am. Some of the storms could produce small hail and heavy rain. Patchy fog before 7am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a high of 79 degrees at 3pm. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around June 21st. Maximum dew point of 65 at 11am. Light northwest wind becoming north 5 to 9 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. Good morning! Happy Sunday. Cloudy and 68 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ Pretty good thunderstorm heading for Delmar now. There is a south breeze at 6 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 65 degrees. The skies will clear around 6 pm.

So I’m back home ๐Ÿก. Got home last night but I was tired ๐Ÿ˜ด and didn’t post anything on my blog. I did spend a little time fixing a glitch in the mobile version which came about with the scrolling ๐Ÿ“œ as I tried to optimize things further for speed. โŒš

It wasn’t a bad trip home, ๐Ÿš˜ although I didn’t like driving the Northway as I’ve gotten very sick of Expressway driving so I tend to avoid them. But it sure is fast taking the expressway. I drove down through the high peaks – I had no interest in stopping at all – and then took the wrong road back to Hammond Pond. ๐Ÿ˜• Ended up in Moria. When I hiked back to Hammond Pond I got eaten alive by horse flies and slipped in the mud and decided it was time to go home.

Called mom on the phone ๐Ÿ“ž to see about Sunday dinner ๐Ÿฒ and I’ll probably go out there if the weather is good enough for a picnic. I also discussed what I should do next about the noise I’m hearing in the truck – she agrees with me that I should get it fixed before my next trip.

Today will havethunderstorms, with clearing later. Some of the storms could produce small hail and gusty winds. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 82 degrees at 4pm. One degree above normal, which is similar to a typical day around July 2nd. Maximum dew point of 67 at 10am. South wind around 7 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
