Styrofoam Coffee Cups Suck

Years ago, I would occasionally use styrofoam coffee cups while camping. There convenient, they are one less dish to wash. Despite what the greenies will tell you, in a hot fire, styrofoam burns fine. It’s cheap, and it doesn’t involve cutting down trees. Then I switched to a regular coffee mug, as I like the feel of the mug in my hands on a cold morning at camp.

Barge Canal Backwaters

After a while I started getting tired of washing the coffee cup, but I want a disposable, e.g. that I could discard and burn, and that I could take in the truck to sip coffee. I got these plastic-coated paper cups with lids which were quite nice, but relatively expensive. I used up the paper cups but still had lids, so I was thinking I could get some cheap styrofoam cups, and use them with the lids. They don’t fit, and I hate how they feel in my hands, and how they make the coffee taste.

Second cup of coffee

I went back to the old ceramic coffee cup to enjoy my coffee up at camp. They aren’t that hard to wash. And maybe go green, and use a reusable cup in the truck. Coffee cups are easy to rinse out, they are much less of a pain then plates, which I think I will continue to use paper or foam ones that are disposable and burnable up at camp. I figure if they aren’t going to the landfill because I’m burning them, I don’t have to feel guilty about using them once and tossing them, although I guess you could argue that your still wasting the chemicals and trees that make up the styrofoam or paper plates. But so be it.

I want to be inspired ๐Ÿ’ญ

Hammock View

Probably the top reason for smoking pot in my mind is to find more inspiration about the world around me. To help me find clarity in ways that reading and thinking has yet to provide in my own life. I think or at least have been told that smoking cannabis can let you focus on the moment and while making you forgetful, can provide a sense of calm that is too often lacking in my life as too many things break down and wear out as I refuse to engauge in all the consumerism trends of the day. I don’t own a television, but I am damn aware of all the evil in society, and how all of us are one bad day from having our entire lives destroyed.

So far on that front I’ve been disappointed, mostly getting hungry and sleepy after getting stoned. Most of the various pre-rolls I got when I went to Northern Lights a little over a month ago have been more on the indica rather then sativia side of things, probably because the prior is less expensive and something too strong on sativia side of things runs a risk of paranoia, and just a bad experience if not enjoyed in moderation. I asked for more sativia, but at least some of the stuff on summer vacation made me more couchlocked in hammock then anything else. I am going to probably need to get more cannabis prior to camping in woods over Labor Day Weekend, so I’m continuing to research strains, methods of smoking and enjoying cannabis. It’s fun to ride a mountain bike through the wilderness after dark, stoned because of how it makes your eyes wide open.

I get smoking pot or doing any kind of drug, be it alcohol or caffine or some kind of “illegal” drug won’t get you all the answers. Mostly it will get you stoned or drunk or awake. But sometimes taking a look at things and being focused more on the now, in an altered state of mind, when your away from it all can be beneficial. Certainly many creative people over the years have smoked a little weed, for the better. The more sativia leaning hybrids I’ve smoked, in moderation are better but I still need to figure out what I want to ask for and have a better idea the next time I visit the the local budmaster. He after all can’t be much guidance if I can’t give him the direction I am looking for over my next high in the wilderness.

I do want to get a pipe and probably will want a grinder so I can buy flower, rather then get pre-roll which is unneccessarily wasteful. I especially dislike the pre-roll I have that is packaged in glass that has to be seperated out of the trash for recycling. It’s a good commitment, not that expensive, and will save money in the long run, once I figure out what I like to smoke. That White Wedding ain’t bad, but I’m not sure that’s my best option for the experience I seek. There are so many options out there, and I just want to see and think clearer but not get paranoid. Not that cannabis has made me any more paranoid — if anything my paranoia over my someday faltering pickup truck and housing situaton has gone down since I’ve started to smoke. I’ve never been afraid of monsters in closets, it’s more what happens if things spin wildly out of control in the long run or that ball joint or the roof joist in my rundown apartment that finally goes ko-put.

Truth is I don’t smoke all that much one way or another. Nor do I plan to make it habit outside of sitting around a campfire in the wilderness or laying back in the hammock staring at the clouds or floating in the tube during the summer months. There are real health consequences to smoking too much. Much like eating too much bacon or ice cream — both are a treat. Smoking cannabis should be something you do that’s special and not ordinary. Plus I like it because it’s kind dirty and smelly, not socially acceptable (your doing drugs!), somewhat illegal. Not unlike dairy or hog farming! Or having a burn barrel and bonfires for trash. But I get a kick out of people turning up their noses at me, and saying I’m just a dirty hick. And some what of an outlaw!

Rainy start to the Sunday morning ๐ŸŒง๏ธ

Probably would have not been the best weekend to spend out in the wilderness. That said, I’m thinking seriously about taking Friday off and heading north to Piseco-Powley for one last weekend of the summer, with the following weekend working remote on Friday from the Spectulator Library after setting up camp somewhere in the Mason Lake, Speculator Tree Farm or Old Route 8B area for the Labor Day Weekend.

It seems werid to think summer is coming to it’s logical conclusion so quickly. ๐Ÿ‚ Soon it will be camping season for long weekends at Rensselaerville State Forest ๐ŸŒฒ as I can work remote from there, yet not be too far home especially with the shorter days. Seems sad that I’m losing out on this weekend, but yesterday was quiet, as I read, worked on some blog code (breaking some things), ๐Ÿ’ป worked on some work stuff including improving my label generation and suppressions code for work, ๐Ÿค– and road out to Voorheesville and walked through the tick-infested fields ๐ŸŒฑ of the Black Creek Marsh. ๐Ÿธ

I was up around 5:30 AM as I am most days, ๐ŸŒ† made up some ground oatmeal with blueberries and bananas ๐ŸŒ and had lots of coffee. โ˜• Off to Walmart before the crowds, then I may come home and read for a few hours ๐Ÿ“š as many of my library e-books will automatically be returned this week after three weeks since July 31 comes and goes. Then it’s off to the parents house for Sunday dinner, probably the last time until Labor Day Weekend as I probably won’t come back particularly early from the Adirondacks next weekend. ๐Ÿ‰ Hopefully not hamburgers, because that seems like the only thing they cook any more, but maybe because it’s easy and they’re getting older. ๐Ÿฆณ I’m increasingly horrified about what I see in their pantry, ๐Ÿฌ but then I grew up on that crap. And both of them have diabetes now. ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€โš•๏ธ It will be the first meat I’ve eaten since I’ve been there last week. ๐Ÿฅฉ Hopefully not steak, as I have that dinner at 677 Prime next week. Got look all swanky for that. ๐Ÿ•ด Taking the bus so I don’t have to worry about having a beer or two before heading home on ol’ 18. Sometimes you need a break from all that healthy shit.

Baked some bread for the first time since spring. ๐Ÿž It’s been a long time since I’ve had bread. Came out a bit salty, I must have dropped too much salt on it. ๐Ÿง‚ It seems like with the brining salt I use that often grab too much salt, and I know salt is unhealthy, but it’s not like I’m getting out of processed foods, as I don’t eat those. ๐ŸŸ I’ve been looking for new things to eat, as I’m getting bored with having fried zucchini and onions six or seven nights a week, even if it’s relatively healthy and easy to cook. The egg plant was a change, ๐Ÿ† but it’s still not all that unlike egg plant and summer squash. I was thinking soon it will be winter squash and pumpkin season, both which are excellent backed in the oven, the later with lots of cinnamon and ginger.

Yesterday was humid and smokey from the wildfire smoke. โ˜๏ธ Really nothing positive to say about the weather yesterday. The library was crowded and I worked outside until my laptop battery ๐Ÿ”‹ was done after about an hour and a half. There was some things I’m trying to perfect with the blog’s revised style sheet, but I wanted to go a simpler style. I also think I will move away from SVGZ graphics, as I’m having trouble with the export with the latest version of R’s graphics device and SVGs that have been compressed, and most people prefer JPGs even if they are kind of silly in principle for vector-based on graphics. ๐Ÿ–ผ The space and bandwidth savings isn’t that much, and the thing is I’m now automatically cleaning up short-term photos, graphics and graphs with an expiration tag after about two weeks by defaults. ๐Ÿ’พ

Ran out of propane this morning ๐Ÿณ

Campfire breakfast it was. I probably would have skipped the hot breakfast all together had my coffee and eggs not been mostly already cooked to start out. Campfire breakfasts are good and it’s been 11 nights camping since I filled my tank prior to Juneteeth weekend.

Eggs, coffee, fried onion, zucchini,ย  mushrooms and sweet corn for breakfast. ๐Ÿณ Good stuff as was the coffee โ˜• this morning. No campfire ๐Ÿ”ฅ last night but I did gather some sticks and have a little fire this morning. I’m in no rush to take down camp ๐Ÿ• though I probably should be as I want to have time to hit up Shauls again ๐Ÿ†, cool off in the Schoharie Creek ๐ŸŠ, go to the car show ๐Ÿš— at the Blenheim Pump Storage Power Plant and then Mine Kill before heading out to the folks house ๐Ÿ‘ช at 4 pm.

Been a nice weekend. โ˜บ I kind of was hoping to camp at West Kill site for reasons of convenience but Betty Brook was nice too. A week and a half from now I’ll be heading out to the Finger Lakes. Probably the thing that excites me the most is all the fresh produce. ๐Ÿ… A good fresh tomato is so mouth ๐Ÿ‘„ watering. Paddling and floating on Seneca Lake, Glen Dairy Bar ๐Ÿฆand watching the sun set across Seneca Lake. ๐ŸนI finished off the remainder of the pre-roll ๐Ÿšฌ that I’ve been enjoying since before Independence Day Weekend, I look forward to smoking some more once I’m out in the Finger Lakes.

I know cannabis isn’t allowed on federal lands but whatever, I’ll keep it locked up and I’ll be in the back country and I’ve never seen any federal rangers ๐Ÿ‘ฎ back there. Maybe a DEC Conservation Officer and a Schuyler County sheriff officer drove by during the Government shutdown in 2013 or on a Friday night to look for teenagers partying and trashing the place, but I’d doubt they care about a little smoke. I’m sure they’d be cool as long as I’m not trashing the forest ๐ŸŒฒ and it’s not like I’m going to be making a lot of noise or trouble. It’s just nice to relax by the fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ and puff a bit. I do want to get an odor free pouch for storing the cannabis which is pungent when opened. ๐Ÿ‘ƒ It’s kind of like silage, the smell gets everywhere.

Going to be a hot one today ๐Ÿ˜ฐ though supposedly less humid. But the heat is going to break by the second half of week, and maybe some rain showers. ๐ŸŒง๏ธ Next weekend I could hammock camp but a down weekend might be good before summer vacation. No nature bus ๐Ÿš to Thacher Park next week as it was this weekend but it’s not like I couldn’t drive there or do something else local. I want to get a few supplies prior to summer vacation – new handle grips and a bolt on kick stand for the bike ๐Ÿšฒ, new globe for the lantern (as a backup) ๐Ÿฎ and a 512 gb storage card for my phone ๐Ÿ“ฑ so I have plenty of storage ๐Ÿ’พ for photos. ๐Ÿ“ธ And obviously fill my empty propane tank which then should be good for the week. Hoping the hot and sunny weather returns for summer vacation.

I’m still kicking myself for not bringing the tube ๐Ÿ›Ÿ as I found several good pools in the Schoharie Creek for floating but maybe I’ll be back to Schoharie in mid to late August before summer is done. But that said there aren’t that many weeks of summer left before September as Labor Day is fairly early and the first weekend of August I’ll still be out in the Finger Lakes. ๐Ÿ• September cools off and I’d still like to get to Piseco Powley one more time this year – maybe if I go to the Little Falls cheese ๐Ÿง€ festival in September but it depends on the work load for the campaign committee.

Single use โ™ป

As somebody who rarely uses disposable items like paper plates or rarely eats out and uses burnables for starting fires I usually don’t think I make much trash – mostly broken appliances and scrap metal I promise myself I’ll eventually recycle or reuse for projects. But I was looking at the bin this morning, thinking about how full it and how the stuff sometimes burns black and stinks when it burns and it gave me pause. I could recycle a lot of the paper and plastic crap but it’s mostly a scam and I need things to start fires with. I the one who is currently reading a book about zero waste living. I guess burning it doesn’t count.

Busy you might describe my schedule. ๐Ÿ“œIt would take a scroll to get through all on my list – I always volunteer to do too much. I think I can handle it with a simple R script or a piece of code and often I can but that’s one task. ๐Ÿ–ฅ But first a nice bike ๐Ÿšฒ ride on this most beautiful of summer mornings. โ˜บ

I was up at 5 o’clock eating carrot ๐Ÿฅ• pancakes with shredded frozen fruit. ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅž Figured if I was up early I could shower ๐Ÿšฟ early and ride out to Five Rivers Environmental Education Center ๐Ÿธ and later Voorheesville and the Rail Trail ๐Ÿš‚ before work – and get into work early. I have a stack of resumes to go through ๐Ÿ“„ and discuss with the supervisors for the Word Processor data entry position in the office that I’m hiring for. I didn’t think many would apply ๐Ÿค๐Ÿป for a $40k with state benefits data entry position but I was wrong. So many resumes! Supervising and approving lists and analysis for work. I got lists to run for the campaign committee, maps and analysis for Save the Pine Bush and a website I’m mitigating over to WordPress for a friend. And I have to pack โ›บ and get ready for camping over Independence day Weekend which starts tomorrow. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ And renew those books ๐Ÿ“š I’m reading on Libby.

And I want to get some cannabis to smoke ๐Ÿšฌ up at camp from the cannabis shop either today or at lunch time tomorrow. Kind of don’t want to get it today as I’m riding my bike and I don’t want to bring it into the office where it might smell. ๐Ÿ‘ƒ Shits kind of like silage, it stinks even if it’s wonderful. Not sure how skunky ๐Ÿฆจ it is until you smoke it but I want to wait until I get to camp โ›บ to find out. Hoping I can get that House Pond Campsite tomorrow but probably not it’s Independence Day Weekend. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

I am leaning towards Piseco-Powley ๐Ÿ• but I can’t stay at any one site more then 3 nights without a permit, but it’s not like the ice is going to last more then two or three days.  ๐ŸงŠ That means I’ll have to figure out where I want to spend the second half of the weekend. I am still leaning towards Stewart Landing and either kayak camping or at one of those sites there or Rockwood State Forest but I could be convinced to end my weekend in Spectulator. Not sure! โญ• I just want to spend a lot of time floating in that tube, lighting off fireworks, stoned, studying the clouds and listening to Frank Zappa’s Waka Jawka.

NDEPENDENCE DAY WEEKEND BE LIKE …

Untitled [Expires July 16 2024]

“If the froggy come up-a with his satchel in his hand
Then he reach in the front and dump a mile of sand
Across the rug, along the hall, up to the umbrella stand
That you’ve been watchin’ all the time
Watchin’ all the time

And if a forest grows up from the dirt on the floor
That the frog with the satchel had just dumped beside the door
You just startin’ to get worried, you ain’t going out no more
And it’s confusin’ to your mind – just consider this:
You can be scared when it gets too real
You can be scared when it gets too real

But you should be diggin’ it while it’s happening
Yes! You should be diggin’ it while it’s happening
‘Cause it just might be a one-shot deal
You can be lost and you can wanna be found
But keep an eye on that frog whenever he jump around

Just keep a-watchin’ him
You oughta be watchin’ him
Just keep a-watchin’ him
You wanna be watchin’ him
And see if he has brought along a little bag for you
Rant!”

It never rains in Upstate NY ๐Ÿฎ

Tell that to the people trying to turn winter wheat and early spring grasses into cow chow. Maybe it will grow intensely when it finally turns hot after all this rain as is most certain to happen the second half of the month.

Good morning! Happy Thursday. It’s not raining this morning, but the heavy rain returns for Friday. That might actually be the only day I don’t ride to work – – and that was the day I was planning to take off to head out to Schoharie. Mostly cloudy around 56 degrees here in Delmar. ๐ŸŒฅ Light breeze from the west.

It seems funny to be thinking about the second half of May already, ๐Ÿ—“ but I actually rain the label job for work for the second half of the month on Tuesday and sent it along to the print shop. I am trying to plan out the second half of the month now for weekends – – the first half as been shit with the rain each weekend, but things might improve come next weekend. Hell of it is Saturdays have been quite nice, โ˜€ it’s just by Sunday it turns to rain. Same thing this upcoming weekend.

Today will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a high of 67 degrees at 6am. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 3rd. North wind 9 to 11 mph. Not much rain expected though, which is good for a break before the rain comes back on Friday. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with sunny skies in the afternoon. The high last year was 75 degrees. The record high of 93 was set in 1979. 1.6 inches of snow fell back in 1977.โ„

Breakfast this morning was home fries ๐Ÿฅ” with eggs ๐Ÿฅš and lots of veggies. Including a big sweet onion, ๐Ÿง…some garlic, broccoli ๐Ÿฅฆ and spinach. I know that yellow potatoes are mostly a starch but they’re good for a treat. Plus I might ride in the long way to work to burn off some extra energy, ๐Ÿšฒ as it’s not a terrible morning and last night it poured and then rained on and and off so I didn’t get out after the Save the Pine Bush conference call.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:53 pm with sun having an altitude of 64.9ยฐ from the due south horizon (-5.9ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.8 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:25 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (289ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (295ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:05 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 11 seconds with dusk around 8:36 pm, which is one minute and 5 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Crescent ๐ŸŒ’ Moon in the west-northwest (290ยฐ) at an altitude of 18ยฐ from the horizon, 235,905 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:16 pm. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 14 hours and 29 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 15 seconds over yesterday.

Last night broke my record of getting out to Five Rivers each night ๐Ÿธ but I had that conference call, ๐Ÿ“ž and despite the weather man’s promises of better weather for the evening, it actually started to rain shortly after I got home – – I had to run out during the conference call and grab my bike, lest it get soaked with my backpack and junk mail sitting into the back. ๐Ÿ”ฅ Now if the weather could only get nice enough to have a fire to burn that all up, lol. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Tonight will have showers likely, mainly after 2am. Cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 48 degrees at 6am. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 14th. North wind around 9 mph becoming east after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. In 2023, we had mostly clear skies. It got down to 39 degrees. The record low of 28 occurred back in 1958.

Not a particularly nice weekend on tap. ๐Ÿ˜ž Saturday, a chance of showers, mainly after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 61. Southeast wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. Maximum dew point of at 6am. Sunday, a chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 59. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Typical average high for the weekend is 70 degrees.

Doesn’t seem like a complete wash out – – much like last weekend, โ˜” but both ends of the weekend look like they will be touched by clouds, cold and rain. I think I will stay in town, I have some coding and other projects to work on at home. ๐Ÿ–ฅ Bike is running well, I could go out to Voorheesville and or Altamont on Saturday, especially if they are still banging at the unit next door. ๐Ÿšช

One month ๐Ÿ“… from now will be the start of the Gas Up ๐Ÿšœ when the sun will be setting at 8:33 pm with dusk at 9:06 pm. I will probably go one weekend with Dad, and possibly the other weekend hammock camp up in Schoharie and spend the day myself, when I can spend more time exploring and enjoying the festival myself. ๐Ÿฅ• Maybe stop by the Carrot Barn and get some fresh produce and carrots too.

Cheney Pond Outlet

I guess I’ll be getting some bike tires tomorrow ๐Ÿšฒ

I mean the bike shop wasn’t wrong when they said the worn out tires would be prone to flats and would ride like a pig, especially with the more worn one on the front tire. Another flat up front and I’m not riding anywhere until I get a new tire and maybe a tube in case I can’t patch it.

Good morning! Today 8:30 PM Dusk ๐ŸŒ† . Most cloudy and 70 degrees here in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒฅ๏ธ Calm wind. Hey at least it’s not raining this morning but the temperature will drop through the day and only get cloudier.

Today will be be mostly clouds with some breaks of sun especially in the morning , ๐ŸŒฅ with a high of 70 degrees at 6am. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 10th. South wind 7 to 10 mph. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 60 degrees. The record high of 91 was set in 1944. There was a dusting of snow in 1986.โ„

Another shitty kind of weekend ahead, ๐Ÿ’ฉ but at least this morning Mr. Preskta isn’t out working on the unit next door ๐Ÿšช shortly after getting done with the milking and feeding – – cow ๐Ÿฎ chores at 6:30 AM in the morning. Enjoying the quiet for now, and will probably just end up spending my day at Five Rivers Environmental Education Center, ๐Ÿธ reading in the woods. The original plan called for riding over to Pebbles Island and go for a walk there, ๐Ÿšถ but honestly the weather isn’t that impressive today. Plus I need to get a tire and maybe a tube – – at least as a back up should the patch fail.

Truth is after that crash I got into Thursday, ๐Ÿ’ฅ my knee still needs time to heal. ๐Ÿฉน A weekend off from riding is a good thing in my perspective. I will continue to research tires today ๐Ÿ”Žand stop by the bike store tomorrow and buy two tires โšซ and maybe also a bike tube in case my patch fails or for an emergency it wouldn’t be bad to keep in storage for while camping or riding should I get another flat. I should be back on the road by Monday assuming they have the tire in stock.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:53 pm with sun having an altitude of 63.5ยฐ from the due south horizon (-7.3ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 3 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:20 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (287ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (293ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:00 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 9 seconds with dusk around 8:30 pm, which is one minute and 7 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:09 pm. At sunset, look for mostly cloudy skies ๐ŸŒฅ and temperatures around 61 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 14 hours and 17 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 24 seconds over yesterday.

After such a busy week riding back and forth to work, ๐Ÿšถ I am okay with taking life slow and going for a walk today. And not doing much but a lot of reading and observing nature. I was at Five Rivers last night too, rode out there, hiked and red until dusk ๐ŸŒ‡ and it was a good evening. I’m just not feeling really ambitious today and I don’t feel like driving anywhere. ๐Ÿš˜ I ended up riding back through the suburban subdivision last night, getting home in the pitch black around 10 of nine. I thought about riding out to Feura Bush for some ice cream ๐Ÿฆ but I think I’ll wait for warmer weather then last night – – wasn’t a super warm day.

Tonight will have a chance of showers, mainly after 3am. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 48 degrees at 6am. Three degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 14th. South wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2023, we had mostly clear skies. It got down to 40 degrees. The record low of 29 occurred back in 1974.

That great cabin / acerage I was looking at in Rensselaer County was only accessible via Easement, so after talking to the real estate agent I decided to pass on further investigation. ๐Ÿก Great location, not a bad commute, and really what I wanted – – off-grid pole-and-beam cabin with water and septic on 6 acres but the Easement road was a deal breaker. The price wasn’t cheap but including the cabin it was reasonable for the location if only it didn’t involve the Easement road. Might be a good hunting cabin, but it would not be possible to improve the road and even a written easement gets complicated. Maybe I’m hoping too much that I can fine the perfect turnkey solution, but what I need to do build my own. ๐Ÿ‘ทI’m continuing to research and learn everything I can.

I am still hoping that next weekend I can get out to Schoharie County, โ›บ take Friday off camp and ride throughout the weekend. Right now the weekend looks cold and showery ๐ŸŒง๏ธ but things could certainly change into he mean-time. I would like to ride the Catskill Scenic Trail, but I need new tires in the before I can do that as I don’t want to deal with another flat. And maybe find some good ramps to eat in the woods. ๐Ÿง…It’s spring turkey, ๐Ÿฆƒ so probably not hiking before noontime.

Possibly the following weekend, I might do a family trip ๐Ÿš˜ out to the Roger’s Center in Central New York, and then I believe the week after that is Memorial Day Weekend ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ which I’ll have to decide where and if I want to get eaten alive by the black flies. ๐Ÿœ Last year the trip out to Cole Hill for two nights was a lot of fun hammock camping, so that’s another option. There is something simple and beautiful about laying back in the hammock as the sky gets dark and cooking over the fire. ๐Ÿ”ฅ At some point I want to get down to Catskill Mountain Cabins, the big show room in Kingston near the Thruway to look at the pre-fab cabins that have at the showroom there, but I think that’s more likely to be a June thing. Plus thoughts of the Potholers are on my mind ๐ŸŠโ€โ™‚๏ธ come later in June but that gets hard to do in the sense that as summer progresses I’ll be busier with work at the campaign committee preparing for the autumn campaign season, running data exports and processing data.

Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until 9 PM Dusk ๐ŸŒ† when the sun will be setting at 8:28 pm. On that day in 2023, we had rain and temperatures between 69 and 60 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 76 degrees. We hit a record high of 94 back in 1918.
