September 21, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. Three weeks to Columbus Day โ›ต ๐Ÿ‚ . When that happens the leaves are close to peak and then suddenly the leaves fall off the trees and we plunge into the browns of November. Sunny and 43 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒž Calm wind.

Out for my morning walk ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป on this sunny but cold late summer morning. ๐ŸŒ… Officially autumn begins tomorrow although the past few days have seen high temperatures well below normal. ๐Ÿ‚ A few more days and there will be more night than day.

As autumn gets underway ๐Ÿš still no buses are leaving the park and ride ๐Ÿšbut I’m still working one day a week downtown in the afternoon. I’m trying to pair it up with going over to John Wolcott’s house ๐Ÿก so I can make only one trip downtown. ๐Ÿ˜ท I got that mask from Lynne Jackson so I have something more comfortable to wear wear to work.

Today will have patchy frost before 8am. Otherwise, sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 62 degrees at 2pm. Eight degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around October 10th. Light north wind. A year ago, we had sunny skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 84 degrees. The record high of 95 was set in 1895.

Busy week on tap. ๐Ÿ“น I have an eleven o’clock Zoom Meeting today and some emails to send. ๐Ÿ“ง I need to get to Wally World for some groceries and a new wallet as, mine is falling apart and I don’t want my credit cards and cash to fall all over the place while boarding the bus. ๐ŸšŒ Then I am picking up Russell Zimbra and we are going to interview John Wolcott on Reszin Adams for the documentary we are doing. Tuesday I’m catching the bus downtown ๐Ÿข for Tuesday meetings and work session, Wednesday I’m packing and getting food ๐Ÿฒ for for camping ๐Ÿ• and Thursday I’m heading north before dawn.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:49 pm with sun having an altitude of 47.9ยฐ from the due south horizon (-23ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 5.4 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:18 pm with the sun in the west (265ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (271ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 6:55 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 54 seconds with dusk around 7:22 pm, which is one minute and 47 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the First Quarter ๐ŸŒ“ Moon in the southwest (220ยฐ) at an altitude of 19ยฐ from the horizon, 228,039 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 7:57 pm. At sunset, look for clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 58 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 12 hours and 11 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 52 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 36 degrees at 6am. 13 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 27th. Light northwest wind. In 2019, we had clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 51 degrees. The record low of 31 occurred back in 1962.

A picture perfect weekend on tap. ๐Ÿ˜Ž Saturday, sunny, with a high near 74. Maximum dew point of 56 at 6pm. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 72. Maximum dew point of 58 at 1pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 68 degrees.

I am thinking about going to the Adirondacks – Spectulator Area come Thursday morning โ›บ for a long weekend. Probably work from the Spectulator Library ๐Ÿ“š on Thursday and Friday and then maybe Saturday night camp on Piseco Powley Road if it’s open Saturday night and Sunday spend a delightful day at Moss Island. ๐Ÿฆ Or maybe I’ll wait on Moss Island until my October trip when the leaves are better.

As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until Columbus Day โ›ต ๐Ÿ‚ when the sun will be setting at 6:17 pm with dusk at 6:45 pm. On that day in 2019, we had partly sunny and temperatures between 66 and 44 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 61 degrees. We hit a record high of 85 back in 1954.

September 20, 2020 Night

Good evening! Clear and 45 degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind. Cool but pretty clear on this late September night ๐ŸŒƒ. Went for an evening walk ๐Ÿšถ but I decided to lay inside on the bed, ๐Ÿ› because it wasn’t warm enough to sit out back. Wouldn’t be bad with a sweater, next to the fire though.

After coming home from Black Creek Marsh Wildlife Management Area I ended up deciding on going out to Bennett Hill โ›ฐ๏ธ for a hike in Clarksville. Always kind of a fun hike but lately it’s been so crowded there since the growing popularity of all outdoors activities since the pandemic started. ๐Ÿฎ Always fun seeing the cows there and the views – especially of Wolf Hill ๐Ÿบ are always nice. I’ll leave Partridge Run for a nice autumn day for hiking with lots of blaze orange and a gun in sling.

Went out to my parents house ๐Ÿก and we had Stuffed Peppers ๐Ÿฒ which is always really good when the peppers are fresh. ๐Ÿซ‘ It was good seeing them and I did my wash out there so I don’t have to do it this week at the laundromat. ๐Ÿ‘š

Tonight will have patchy frost after 4am. Otherwise, clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 33 degrees at 5am. 17 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around November 9th. Calm wind. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 50 degrees. The record low of 29 occurred back in 1973.

Tonight will have a Waxing Crescent ๐ŸŒ’ Moon with 17% illuminated. The Hunter ๐Ÿน Moon is on Thursday, October 1. The darkest hour is at 12:50 am, followed by dawn at 6:14 am, and sun starting to rise at 6:42 am in the east (88ยฐ) and last for 2 minutes and 54 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 4 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 7:19 am with sun in the east (94ยฐ). Tonight will have 11 hours and 46 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 52 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have areas of frost before 8am. Otherwise, sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 62 degrees at 2pm. Eight degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around October 10th. Light north wind. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 84 degrees. The record high of 95 was set in 1895.

Continuing to upload pictures ๐Ÿ–ผ to the blog, but I had to stop mid-day as I discovered a problem with the photo uploader, which ran out of ID allocations and then permissions — a code issue that I have finally fixed. ๐Ÿ’ป That said, I thought I had fixed that issue months ago but that wasn’t the case. ๐Ÿ˜•Also have some new content for this week that I will be posting as the week progresses.

Still haven’t put the new battery ๐Ÿ”‹ in the laptop, but hopefully I’ll have some downtime this week but I have busy week on tap.

I finally checked the oil in the truck, and it wasn’t too bad.๐Ÿซ– Added a quarter of a quart of oil, but it was well within the normal range, but this should keep it good for a few weeks. I realized I hadn’t checked it since the last oil change in July, before vacation.

I am watching the forecast but I’m thinking of heading up to the Adirondacks this weekend, if the forecast remains true. But I am sure by the weekend, things will change and it will be pouring rain for most of the week.

In four weeks on October 18 the sun will be setting in the west-southwest (257ยฐ) at 6:07 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 47 minutes and 51 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had mostly cloudy and temperatures between 52 and 41 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 59 and 39 degrees. The record high of 84 degrees was set back in 2016.

Looking ahead, Last Sunset After 6:30 PM ๐ŸŒ† is in 2 weeks, November ๐Ÿฅง is in 6 weeks, First Sunday of Advent โœ๏ธ is in 11 weeks, Saint Nicholas Day ๐ŸŽ… is in 11 weeks, Latest Sunrise of the Winter ๐ŸŒ„๏ธ is in 15 weeks, Inauguration Day โœ… is in 4 months, Valentines Day โค๏ธ is in 21 weeks and 5:30 PM Sunset ๐ŸŒ† is in 5 months.

September 20, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Average is High 70 ๐ŸŽ‘ ! Won’t be that hot today but it’s a true sign that autumn is coming on Tuesday. Next Sunday has More Night then Day ๐Ÿ€ผ/strong>๓“€ฎ Partly cloudy and 41 degrees at the Black Creek Marsh WMA. โ›… Calm wind. The skies will clear around 8 am.

Out hiking and bird watching ๐Ÿฆ after the first frost of the year here. Cool but nice. Still not a lot of leaves in color and while I saw a doe ๐ŸฆŒ and some Blue Jays, a big fat Catbird and accidentally flushed out a grouse ๐Ÿ•Š I am hearing more birds than actually seeing them.

Had a quick cup of coffee โ˜• and made some pancakes ๐Ÿฅž before rushing out here for the first break of daylight. I hope I remembered to turn off the kitchen stove but if not the stove is on low and its a cast iron pan ๐Ÿณ so I’m not worried. ๐Ÿ˜ฏ It’s mostly just a waste of electricity and maybe a need to regrease the pan after washing.

In the afternoon I’ll probably hike at Partridge Run ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป although I’m still considering my options. ๐Ÿ’ญ I am heading out to the folks house for Sunday dinner later on. Going to cool but still a nice day. Might want to get out there early so I don’t have to drive home when it’s pitch black out. With the rut underway, ๐Ÿ†I find myself constantly scanning left then right, to avoid possibly hitting a deer ๐ŸฆŒ.

Today will be partly sunny, then gradually becoming sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 59 degrees at 2pm. 12 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around October 17th. Calm wind becoming north 5 to 8 mph in the morning. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 79 degrees. The record high of 90 was set in 1946.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:50 pm with sun having an altitude of 48.2ยฐ from the due south horizon (-22.6ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 5.4 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:20 pm with the sun in the west (266ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (272ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 6:58 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 54 seconds with dusk around 7:24 pm, which is one minute and 48 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Crescent ๐ŸŒ’ Moon in the southwest (234ยฐ) at an altitude of 16ยฐ from the horizon, 226,859 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 7:59 pm. At sunset, look for clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 57 degrees. There will be a north breeze at 6 mph. Today will have 12 hours and 14 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 53 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have patchy frost after 4am. Otherwise, clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 35 degrees at 6am. 15 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 31st. Light northwest wind. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 50 degrees. The record low of 29 occurred back in 1973.

My socks ๐Ÿงฆ were absolutely gross again when I took them off last night. I don’t know if it’s the boots ๐Ÿ‘ข or just my sweaty feet with the corn meal ๐ŸŒฝ based foot powder ๐Ÿ‘ฃ that replaced the talcum powder which isn’t sold anymore due to asbestos contamination. But they are soaking against in the laundry soap so I’m hoping the muck will come out. I will agitate them a bit and rinse them before pulling out of the bucket and putting in the wash – they just aren’t coming out real clean.

Still need to get the new battery ๐Ÿ”‹ in my laptop. It should really improve the rate of battery life but unfortunately on this laptop it’s not a plug ๐Ÿ”Œ and play battery, you have to physically disassemble things with care to replace the battery.

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Last Sunset After 6:30 PM ๐ŸŒ† with dusk at 6:59 pm. On that day in 2019, we had partly sunny and temperatures between 59 and 41 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 65 degrees. We hit a record high of 86 back in 1891.

Labrador Pond

September 17, 2020 Night

Good evening! Rain showers and 56 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜” There is a north-northwest breeze at 6 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 54 degrees. The skies will clear tomorrow around 7 am.

Sitting out back for a while watching the rain come in ๐Ÿ’ฆ just enjoying a mild late September evening. ๐ŸŒƒ It was a fun day heading downtown on the bus ๐Ÿš for a long but kind of fun socially distant meeting in a big conference room with masks on. ๐Ÿ’ผ Then I went to John Wolcott house for a couple hours and looked through a bunch of Fort Orange history and old records about Mayor Yates House, now the DASNY building. ๐Ÿ“œ

It was a long day with the banada over my face, kind of hot but so he it. ๐Ÿ˜ท I am actually thinking of buying a real mask, because the bandana on the face gets tiresome when you’re downtown a good portion of the day. I wonder what Tractor Supply has for fashionable reusable masks. I bet a Carhartt mask would be fun. Then I can get a boring black mask for fancy meetings so I can look like Biden This Time. ๐Ÿ‘ด๐Ÿป

It was fun to take the bus downtown. ๐ŸšYou know I miss the time on the bus, ๐ŸšŒ the quiet time to myself listening to a podcast or my earphones ๐ŸŽง, looking out the window. Everybody wore their Coronavirus muzzle, as my IIIer hog farming friends like to say. ๐Ÿ˜ท I think the dangers of transit are exaggerated ๐Ÿ‘พ although I did wash my hands good when I got to the office ๐Ÿข and when I got home ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป. Then again . I had to giggle ๐Ÿคญ at the signs defaced with BLM painted on them and the graffiti removal crew nowhere to be scene. โœŠ๐ŸปโœŠ๐ŸฝโœŠ๐Ÿฟ Cities are wonderful for the disorder and grime they represent. ๐Ÿ˜€ The world isn’t perfect ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป.

I went for my evening walk ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป and it was pleasant maybe because I was so charged up about being able to ride the bus and work downtown again. ๐Ÿ™ I legitimately do miss the old days when things were normal and you got on the bus every day and worked in that big office building in the city. It was just so nice for at least a while having a semblance of the old life peering out from under the Coronavirus muzzle. ๐Ÿ˜ท

Tonight will have a slight chance of showers. Okay, later, raining now a bit. ๐Ÿ’ง Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 49 degrees at 5am. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around September 22nd. Northwest wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2019, we had clear skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 48 degrees. The record low of 35 occurred back in 1986.

Tonight will have a New ๐ŸŒš Moon with 0% illuminated. The Hunter ๐Ÿน Moon is on Thursday, October 1. The darkest hour is at 12:51 am, followed by dawn at 6:10 am, and sun starting to rise at 6:39 am in the east (87ยฐ) and last for 2 minutes and 54 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 4 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 7:16 am with sun in the east (93ยฐ). Tonight will have 11 hours and 37 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 51 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny โ˜, with a high of 62 degrees at 2pm. Nine degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around October 10th. Maximum dew point of 48 at 6am. North wind 9 to 13 mph. A year ago, we had sunny skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 69 degrees. The record high of 91 was set in 1891.

I was told today that my hair is rapidly getting gray. ๐Ÿง“๐ŸปI guess I’m getting old but I think some of it has to do with my hair cut short โœ‚ and the fact I’m growing sideburns. I’ve been noticing that a lot more in the mirror too. But already the sideburns are filling in nicely and it’s a bunch less shaving before I shower ๐Ÿšฟ although I do that less now as I’m not working downtown and nobody knows if you’ve put on deodorant on over Zoom Meetings.

In four weeks on October 15 the sun will be setting in the west-southwest (259ยฐ) at 6:12 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 48 minutes and 28 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had mostly sunny and temperatures between 62 and 39 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 60 and 40 degrees. The record high of 86 degrees was set back in 1897.

September 17, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Constitution Day ๐Ÿ“œ! I like constitution but it’s only as good as the people who are enforcing it. Two weeks to October ๐ŸŽƒ and Harvest Moon ๐ŸŒ•. Shine on Harvest Moon in a few weeks. Late this year, in October or is the Hunter’s Moon? ๐Ÿน๐ŸฆŒ Partly sunny with haze and 52 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒค๏ธ There is a south breeze at 7 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 50 degrees.

I went for my morning walk, ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป and it was a nice morning but the sky still has that gray-blue dull color from the western wildfire ๐Ÿ”ฅ. I ended up just walking around the Swift Preserve ๐Ÿธ, it was a nice morning but I got a late start because I had trouble getting out of bed ๐Ÿ›.

Today will have a chance of showers, mainly after 5pm. Partly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 72 degrees at 3pm. Typical for today. Maximum dew point of 57 at 1pm. South wind 5 to 7 mph becoming north in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had sunny skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 73 degrees. The record high of 89 was set in 1942.

I have a meeting downtown today mid day ๐Ÿ•› and I’m still chewing over whether I should drive there or take a bus ๐ŸšŒ. I haven’t ridden the bus much in six months but it’s so convenient. ๐Ÿ™„But then again there is old Corona hiding out everywhere or so the politicians want us to believe. ๐Ÿ‘พ Duck ๐Ÿฆ† that, I’ll wear a mask ๐Ÿ˜ท. Or at a banada as I don’t own a real mask.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:51 pm with sun having an altitude of 49.4ยฐ from the due south horizon (-21.4ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 5.1 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:25 pm with the sun in the west (267ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (274ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:03 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 54 seconds with dusk around 7:29 pm, which is one minute and 47 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Crescent ๐ŸŒ’ Moon in the west (274ยฐ) at an altitude of 1ยฐ from the horizon, 227,241 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:04 pm. At sunset, look for rain showers ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 62 degrees. The dew point will be 54 degrees. There will be a north breeze at 8 mph. Today will have 12 hours and 23 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 51 seconds over yesterday.

This afternoon I’m heading over John Wolcott house ๐Ÿ”Ž for a while to see what random files ๐Ÿ“‚ we can find although after the Fort Orange box ๐Ÿ—ƒ there hasn’t been a lot interesting things the past few weeks. But you never know what you will find.

Tonight will have a chance of showers, mainly before 8pm. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 47 degrees at 6am. Four degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around September 26th. North wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2019, we had clear skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 48 degrees. The record low of 35 occurred back in 1986.

Yesterday I went down to the park and the Wi-Fi was down ๐Ÿ’ป which was obnoxious for the Zoom Meeting. I ended up going to the library parking lot and working there in the evening and updating the blog. ๐Ÿ“ I then came home and listened to the Save the Pine Bush Virtual Dinner honoring the late Reszin Adam’s over the conference call on my phone ๐Ÿ“ฑwhile I had Macoroni and Cheese with the fixings ๐Ÿง€ but it wasn’t as good as Reszin’s lasagna.

Cool this weekend with temperatures running 11 degrees below normal but otherwise sunny. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ Saturday, patchy frost before 7am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 60. North wind 5 to 9 mph. Sunday, patchy frost before 8am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 61. Maximum dew point of 35 at 10am. Typical average high for the weekend is 71 degrees.

Definitely going to feel like an autumn weekend. ๐Ÿ‚ Saturday I’m going hiking in the Albany Pine Bush Preserve and probably somewhere local on Sunday. ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป Next weekend I’m hoping to get up north if the weather is nice.

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until October ๐ŸŽƒ and Harvest Moon ๐ŸŒ• when the sun will be setting at 6:36 pm with dusk at 7:04 pm. On that day in 2019, we had rain and temperatures between 78 and 60 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 66 degrees. We hit a record high of 90 back in 1927.

September 11, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Today is September 11th! ๐Ÿ—ฝ ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ One generation later. Hard to believe that 1โƒฃ 9โƒฃ years has come and gone since that day when I was a freshman in college ๐ŸŽ“. Next Friday is 7 PM Sunset ๐ŸŒ†. And then the days only get shorter at an accelerating rate. Light drizzle and 60 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒง๏ธ The air smells like diesel smoke and silage. ๐Ÿšœ The milk is good in the coffee โ˜•. Autumn is coming. There is a north breeze at 8 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 56 degrees. The skies will clear around 9 am.

It’s amazing how fast a generation comes and goes, ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ how that morning with the deep blue skies in Plymouth Sundance ๐Ÿš˜ was a half lifetime ago, how much different it was being a freshman in college and all the freedom of being young and in the big city entailed ๐ŸŽ“. So many things have changed while so many other things remain the same. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

My cynical outlook on America hasn’t changed or my criticism of the boot lickers ๐Ÿ‘ข hasn’t changed. You can believe in America and our freedoms without worship ๐Ÿ› of jack-booted thugs. Freedom ain’t about the worship of government workers, it’s the right to be left alone from the bullies. ๐Ÿบ Two decades later I still turn to Amy Goodman and Democracy Now for a lot of my news ๐Ÿ“ฐ. Such good reporting on the days after September 11th. She is so short the one time I met her, and gotten a lot older and gray. But haven’t we all.

Today will be mostly cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 71 degrees at 4pm. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around September 18th. Maximum dew point of 56 at 7am. North wind 8 to 10 mph. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. It was humid. The high last year was 87 degrees. The record high of 98 was set in 1931.

I have a Zoom Meeting at noon today which I’ll probably go down to the park ๐Ÿž to do. It’s a nice change from the library when the weather is nice. I bet once the leaves change it will be really nice. ๐Ÿ‚ I also should

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:53 pm with sun having an altitude of 51.7ยฐ from the due south horizon (-19.1ยฐ vs. 6/21). We’ve almost lost twenty degrees in sun altitude from the first day of summer. ๐Ÿ“A six foot person will cast a 4.7 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:36 pm with the sun in the west (270ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (277ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:13 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 55 seconds with dusk around 7:40 pm, which is one minute and 46 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:16 pm. At sunset, look for clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 63 degrees. The dew point will be 46 degrees. There will be a north breeze at 7 mph. Today will have 12 hours and 40 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 50 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 45 degrees at 6am. Eight degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around September 30th. North wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became light rain by the early hours of the morning. It was somewhat humid. It got down to 51 degrees. The record low of 36 occurred back in 1875.

Tomorrow will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 71 degrees at 3pm. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around September 18th. Maximum dew point of 50 at 12pm. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. It was humid. The high last year was 68 degrees. The record high of 94 was set in 1947.

Looking ahead to Sunday, showers likely, mainly after 5pm. โ˜” Mostly cloudy, with a high near 73. South wind 9 to 15 mph. ๐ŸŒฆ๏ธChance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. Maximum dew point of 63 at 4pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 74 degrees.

As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until Average High is 65 ๐Ÿ‚ when the sun will be setting at 6:34 pm with dusk at 7:02 pm. On that day in 2019, we had partly cloudy, rain showers and temperatures between 75 and 49 degrees. We hit a record high of 85 back in 1927.

Indian Lake Mountain

September 9, 2020 Night

Good evening! Mostly clear and 71 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a south-southeast breeze at 5 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 64 degrees.

I went over to John Wolcott’s house ๐Ÿก for a while and continued looking at his files ๐Ÿ“‚. Nothing really exciting was found this time, a few letters โœ‰ from the Fort Orange Dig โ›๏ธbut nothing really substantial. Replacing the battery shouldn’t be hard, I actually pulled the battery a while back when I installed the SSD drive into it last winter. Or was that two years ago?
