Good morning! If God put it here, he’ll take it away. As will the big dump trucks in city. In other words, Happy Tuesday. Unless of course you have to dig out your car. Next Tuesday is 7:15 AM Sunrise โŒ›๏ธ. Partly cloudy and 25 degrees at the Valero. โ›… There is a north-northwest breeze at 9 mph. 🍃. There are 20.5 inches of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ Or something like that. I know my landlords plow was struggling. ๏ธThings will start to thaw out at tomorrow around 10 am. 🌡๏ธ

The snow stopped early enough โ„ that the Thruway is just wet and the suburban arterial are pretty clear too. Albany streets are narrow and a bit snow covered but they’re plowed. I’m sure once the snow emergency is underway they’ll become much more passable. I took an earlier local bus in today, it’s running close to schedule although we’re bogging down a bit in the city due to the narrow streets with the snow banks. I probably would have walked 🚶 to the express but the sidewalks were icy and who knew if they would be plowed all the way down to the park and ride. At any rate, I fully expect to be into work plenty early. That’s good, it’s going to be a busy one I expect.

Today will be mostly sunny 🌞, with a high of 32 degrees at 1pm. Nine degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around December 27th. Northwest wind 9 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. A year ago, we had cloudy skies. The high last year was 46 degrees. The record high of 63 was set in 2009. 5.2 inches of snow fell back in 1893.โ„

I shoveled off the truck today 🚘 and brushed off the solar panel again so that should keep the batteries topped off through Sunday. I’m hoping with the amount of snow I brushed off plus the sun โ˜€ and warmer temperatures this week I won’t have to clean the truck off this weekend. I find brushing off the truck during the snow storm and right after is much easier then then waiting for the weekend to clean stuff off.

The sun will set at 4:22 pm with dusk around 4:54 pm, which is 16 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for mostly clear skies 🌄 and temperatures around 32 degrees. There will be a northwest breeze at 14 mph with gusts up to 24mph. Today will have 9 hours and 15 minutes of daytime, an decrease of one minute and 19 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a slight chance of snow after 3am. Increasing clouds 🌨, with a low of 23 degrees at 3am. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around December 10th. Maximum wind chill around 20 at 6pm; West wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light and variable after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2018, we had partly cloudy skies in the evening, which became mist by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 21 degrees. The record low of -9 occurred back in 1940.

Cool this weekend with temperatures running 6 degrees below normal but otherwise sunny. ๐Ÿ˜€ Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 29. Sunday, partly sunny, with a high near 37. Typical average high for the weekend is 39 degrees.

Being the last weekend of regular season and they’re being a ton of snow on the ground, โ›„ I’ll probably stay in town this weekend. Saturday might be a good weekend to go skiing 🎿 assuming that the snow isn’t too icy come the weekend.

As previously noted, next Tuesday is 7:15 AM Sunrise โŒ›๏ธ when the sun will be setting at 4:21 pm with dusk at 4:53 pm. On that day in 2018, we had partly sunny skies, mist and temperatures between 36 and 18 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 38 degrees. We hit a record high of 64 back in 1966.

Pine Creek

July 29, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Vacation has come around Monday’s come back around again. Wednesday morning I get my teeth cleaned. Next Monday is Work Like a Dog Day ๐Ÿฉ. Although because I’ve been gone for a week I wouldn’t be surprised if this week will be a work like a dog day. ๐Ÿถ Partly sunny โ˜€ and 72 degrees at the Valero. Calm wind. The dew point is 67 degrees. We have a big stretch of hot and humid weather coming up this week. The muggy weather ends Thursday around 11 am. ๐Ÿ˜“

So it’s back to work today, ๐Ÿ’ผ which is good because work buys beer, guns, ammunition and all things fun including eventually owning my own where I can have fires ๐Ÿ”ฅ ride four wheelers, shoot guns ๐Ÿ”ซ and drink beer every night. ๐Ÿป They sure like their fires in Western Pennsylvania redneck country. It’s a good life. I do wish I spent more time in Allegany County NY and Pennsylvania on vacation. Oil country has a distinctive smell from the crude oil to the cow manure and silage to good old fashioned smoldering trash burn barrels.

Today will have isolated showers and thunderstorms after 1pm as it’s going to be hot and humid. โšก Otherwise sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 89 degrees at 4pm. Seven degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 70 at 11am. Southwest wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 81 degrees. The record high of 97 was set in 1894.

This evening it’s back to the routine – of working on the Save the Pine Bush project ๐ŸŒฒand then Thursday night its over to John Wolcott house. ๐Ÿ“ฐ๐Ÿ“‘๐Ÿ”Ž. I also have to go shopping for supplies, especially toilet paper ๐Ÿšฝ and maybe some food. I might also have to replace my headphones ๐ŸŽงwhich are finally starting to fall apart after like eight months of heavy use. I’m tough on shit like that.

The sun will set at 8:18 pm with dusk around 8:50 pm, which is one minute and 5 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At sunset, watch out for thunderstorms ๐ŸŒฉ and temperatures around 80 degrees. The dew point will be 69 degrees. There will be a southwest breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 14 hours and 33 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 6 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have isolated showers and thunderstorms before 9pm. Partly cloudy ๐ŸŒค, with a low of 70 degrees at 3am. Eight degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 69 at 8pm. South wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2018, we had mostly clear skies. It got down to 60 degrees. The record low of 44 occurred back in 1968.

A picture perfect weekend on tap. ๐Ÿ˜Ž Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 84. Maximum dew point of 66 at 4pm. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 85. Maximum dew point of 64 at 11am. Typical average high for the weekend is 82 degrees.

I am leaning towards going up to the Potholers and Piseco Powley Road this weekend. โ›บ Suprisingly enough I haven’t been up there yet this year. It looks like it will be a hot and sunny summer weekend and there is no guarantee that there are an unlimited amount of them left before autumn rolls around. I mean in a month, the sun will be setting at around 7:30 and the average high will be in the upper 70s.

As previously noted, next Monday is Work Like a Dog Day ๐Ÿฉ when the sun will be setting at 8:10 pm with dusk at 8:41 pm. On that day in 2018, we had hot, humid, sunny, patches of fog and temperatures between 90 and 63 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 82 degrees. We hit a record high of 99 back in 1955.

May 22, 2019 Morning

Good morning! What day is it? Hump Day, of course. Two weeks to 8:30 PM Sunset ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ. Wow, that’s coming quickly. The legislative session is scheduled to end in four weeks. Sunny and 53 degrees at the bus stop near Valero. ๐ŸŒž There is a north-northwest breeze at 7 mph. ๐Ÿƒ.

Today will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 72 degrees at 4pm. One degree above normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 23rd. North wind 6 to 8 mph. Seasonable weather for a change. A year ago, we had light rain for most of the day. The high last year was 63 degrees. The record high of 97 was set in 1911.

Heading in early this morning, as I have that nine o’clock class at work โŒš. I also have sexual harassment training tomorrow. At least I feel like I’m start to get caught up at work and hopefully things will go smoothly today. ๐Ÿ“

The sun will set at 8:18 pm with dusk around 8:51 pm, which is 57 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for partly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 64 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 14 hours and 51 minutes of daytime, an increase of one minute and 45 seconds over yesterday. Less than a month more of talking about longer days. I wonder when the first heat wave ๐ŸŒŠ of the year will hit. I’m looking forward to hot summer days at the potholers and the Mine Kill Swimming pool. ๐ŸŠ Then settling down for the night up at Burnt Rossman State Forest. ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒณ

Tonight will have a slight chance of showers after 2am. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 52 degrees at 5am. Three degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 30th. Maximum dew point of 46 at 5am. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2018, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 56 degrees. The record low of 36 occurred back in 1967.

Still chewing over the Adirondacks versus the Greens for the weekend. I’m really leaning towards the greens now, as I’m interested in hiking back to Lye Brook Falls and I just don’t like the road noise along NY 8. โ›บ But if it looks sunnier in the Adirondacks I might choose them. I have to make a decision tomorrow I guess. I may go shopping tonight for camp or at least get packing.

I have that event to go to on Thursday evening and there is no reason I couldn’t do a lot of packing and shopping tonight for camp.๐Ÿ” I don’t need a lot for camp but maybe some burgers and macaroni would be good for dinner at camp. I’ve created a packing list to help keep things more organized when packing. ๐ŸŽ’

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until 8:30 PM Sunset ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ when the sun will be setting at 8:29 pm with dusk at 9:04 pm. On that day in 2018, we had partly sunny, rain showers and temperatures between 64 and 48 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 75 degrees. We hit a record high of 97 back in 1925.

May 21, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy School Election Tuesday. ๐Ÿšธ It’s the only time of the year that you have the ability to directly reject or approve government spending, and speak out about our education system, so I always make sure to vote. Five weeks to Primary Day ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ. Likewise that is an important date at least in Albany County local elections where everything is decided on primary day.

Partly cloudy and 52 degrees at bus stop ๐Ÿš near the Valero. โ›… Breezy, ๏ธ20 mph breeze from the west-northwest ๐ŸŒฌ with gusts up to 31 mph ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ. It wasn’t a bad walk down to the school ๐Ÿšธ to vote today. It was a quick enough of a process that I was able to catch the earlier local to work. Generally it looks like it will be a pleasant day.

Today will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 66 degrees at 3pm. Five degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 5th. Breezy, with a northwest wind 20 to 24 mph, with gusts as high as 39 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 78 degrees. The record high of 92 was set in 1941. There was a dusting of snow in 1895.โ„

It made it easy this morning as I have my lunch at work from yesterday as I got lunch at the Haitian Day yesterday. ๐Ÿฒ So I just made up some waffles, topped with blueberries and had some coffee. โ˜• Voted โŽ and now off to work. ๐Ÿš I’ll actually be in early to the office today, which is good because I was late yesterday. I think I’ll drop off my jackets – maybe all of them – to be dried cleaned on Thursday morning. ๐Ÿ‘”

The sun will set at 8:17 pm with dusk around 8:50 pm, which is 58 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for mostly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 60 degrees. Breezy, 18 mph breeze โ›… from the northwest with gusts up to 28mph. Might be a nice evening for a walk ๐Ÿšถ, and sitting out back assuming I get home at a reasonable hour.

Today will have 14 hours and 50 minutes of daytime, an increase of one minute and 48 seconds over yesterday. Only thirty more days of the days getting longer, as the first day of summer is just around the corner. โ˜€ ๐ŸŠ

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 47 degrees at 5am. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 17th. Northwest wind 13 to 18 mph decreasing to 7 to 12 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 28 mph. In 2018, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became light rain by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 55 degrees. The record low of 33 occurred back in 2002.

I am still debating where to go this Memorial Day Weekend. โ›บ I actually think Vermont is closer then the Adirondacks and I am not crazy about listening to all the noise along NY 8 all weekend long. But I’m also kind of tired of spending holiday weekends in Vermont. Another option is backcountry camping โ›บ locally in where the black flies wouldn’t be so bad.

Looking ahead, there are 5 weeks until Primary Day ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ when the sun will be setting at 8:37 pm with dusk at 9:12 pm. On that day in 2018, we had mostly sunny, rain showers and temperatures between 78 and 55 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 80 degrees. We hit a record high of 95 back in 1898.

Cooking Dinner

May 20, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. Next Monday is Memorial Day ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ. Rain showers and clouds and 74 degrees waiting for the bus at the Valero. โ˜” There is a south-southwest breeze at 9 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 63 degrees. I think it’s the first time we’ve had dew points in the sixties this year. Definitely damp in my apartment, the humidity sensor says it’s closer to a dew point of 65 inside with a humidity of 80%. I’m glad I wired that up in my VMS display. The skies will clear around noontime.

So it’s the work week before the holiday weekend, heading downtown. ๐Ÿš I caught the later bus downtown this morning as I had trouble getting going on this rainy morning in my truck cap but so be it. It wasn’t a bad night sleeping — some heavy rain during the night and some flashes of lighting — but in general a nice night. My parents did make a nice breakfast. ๐Ÿณ It was a dark and rainy morning then when I got home and the floors were wet from the humidity but at least my VMS display is working well since I added that transistor to refresh the display and clear out any invalid data. The trick with the transistor was to put the display into sleep mode, cut power, and then wake it up from sleep mode once power was restored — sticking in a 10 millisecond delay — to get a full refresh from any errors.

Today will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds. Partly sunny โ˜€, with a high of 83 degrees at 2pm. 12 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around July 13th. Too bad I have to work and with everything being so wet this morning it feels like a swamp. Maximum dew point of 64 at 10am. Hopefully things will dry up later today. Southwest wind 9 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. It was somewhat humid. The high last year was 75 degrees. The record high of 91 was set in 1962.

The sun will set at 8:16 pm with dusk around 8:49 pm, which is one minute later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for partly clear skies – wait for it – with a chance of thunderstorms ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 67 degrees. In case you mud was getting dehydrated says the internet meme. The good news is that cool dry air will be pushing into so things will hopefully be nice. The dew point will be 53 degrees. There will be a west-northwest breeze at 13 mph. Today will have 14 hours and 48 minutes of daytime, an increase of one minute and 52 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a slight chance of showers before 10pm. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 50 degrees at 5am. One degree above normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 24th. Northwest wind 11 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2018, we had mostly clear skies. It got down to 47 degrees. The record low of 32 occurred back in 1949.

I’m going to change the code on my VMS display in my bedroom to take the average of the temperature from the clock chip and the DHT 11 sensor. It seems like the clock chip rides a few degrees too high and the humidity DHT 11 runs too low compared to the mercury thermometer on my wall. I think it’s heat from the circuits ๐Ÿ’ซ that’s causing the too high readings. I also have an external temperature probe that I want to wire up outside, to get an outside temperature reading, and also add code to reset the day’s recorded high and low temperature, at midnight each night.

I have many options for the long weekend โ›บ and I’ve been leaning against more going up to the East Branch because I was just up there. I might back country tent ๐ŸŽช camp locally if I don’t want to deal with so many black flies ๐Ÿœ or maybe go back up to Vermont where I’ve been spending a lot of holiday weekends lately. The problem with VEE-mont is I don’t have a fishing license for there but the Grout Pond swimming beach is nice. Not sure if it’s going to be that warm out this weekend but I would like to camp somewhere I have cellphone ๐Ÿ“ฑ reception, lots of sun for solar and maybe some swimming ๐ŸŠ and fishing ๐ŸŽฃ opportunities.

As previously noted, next Monday is Memorial Day ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ when the sun will be setting at 8:22 pm with dusk at 8:56 pm. On that day in 2018, we had rain showers, partly sunny and temperatures between 68 and 54 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 73 degrees. We hit a record high of 94 back in 1914.

Staats Island Road

April 2, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy Tuesday. Mostly sunny and 25 degrees at the bus stop near in Valero. ๐Ÿ˜Ž One of the coldest April mornings in recent memory, โ„ although not record breaking cold. At least it’s sunny. With the sun, and slight south breeze at 6 mph, it doesn’t feel bad at all ๐Ÿƒ. Things will start to thaw out at around 9 am. ๐ŸŒก๏ธ

Today will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 52 degrees at 4pm. After the cold weather, the mercury will warm up for weather that is typical for today. South wind 6 to 16 mph. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning, which became mostly sunny by afternoon. The high last year was 47 degrees. The record high of 77 was set in 2010. 8.0 inches of snow fell back in 1924.โ„

The sun will set at 7:22 pm with dusk around 7:51 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies ๐ŸŒƒ and temperatures around 48 degrees. There will be a south-southeast breeze at 11 mph. Today will have 12 hours and 48 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 52 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 33 degrees at 5am. Typical for tonight. South wind 5 to 9 mph becoming calm after midnight. In 2018, we had partly cloudy in the evening, which became light rain by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 33 degrees. The record low of 16 occurred back in 1954.

Tomorrow will have isolated showers between 2pm and 3pm. Mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 56 degrees at 4pm. Three degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical day around April 10th. Breezy, with a light west wind increasing to 17 to 22 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 34 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had cloudy in the morning, which became mostly sunny by afternoon. The high last year was 44 degrees. The record high of 79 was set in 1981. 11.0 inches of snow fell back in 1891.โ„

Yesterday was mostly a recovery day after the 24 hours I worked on Sunday into Monday. I really can’t complain some my colleagues in the budget side of things put in a whole lot more hours.๐Ÿ˜ด The good news is that I’ll have comp time I can use if I want to take some time off to make a long Easter weekend for a camping and fishing trip.โ›บ

My recovery from the lack of sleep was difficult yesterday although after a good night’s sleep last night I’m feeling better today. ๐Ÿ˜ŽI’m also glad it’s going to be warmer today so I turned off the heat again. Still not warm enough though to open the window for fresh air but I expect in a week or two with the average high reaching 60 by mid month there will be many more opportunities for sleeping with the windows open.๐Ÿ”ณ

I went down to the library for a while today to do some client business. I don’t have internet at home so I went to the library for the public Wi-Fi which works well. ๐Ÿ“กThen I came back home and got a few more hours of sleep. I worked on some code and the blog, rode the exercise bike for a while then went for my evening walk.๐Ÿšฒ

I thought about going out fishing or maybe for a hike๐Ÿšถ after returning home from the library but I basically just collapsed into bed and took another nap. I’m feeling much more rested today๐Ÿ’ค. Maybe a bit groggy when I first woke with the cold weather but generally I’m feeling much better today.

Looking ahead, there are 15 weeks until Last Sunset After 8:30 PM ๐ŸŒ† when the sun will be setting at 8:30 pm with dusk at 9:04 pm. On that day in 2018, we had hot, humid, mostly sunny, patches of fog and temperatures between 96 and 69 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 83 degrees. We hit a record high of 97 back in 1900.

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. ๐Ÿ˜• Saturday, mostly cloudy, with a high near 57. Sunday, partly sunny, with a high near 63. Maximum dew point of 45 at 2pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 54 degrees.

Sunday is starting to look really nice. I’ll have to think ๐Ÿ’ญ what I will do that day. I’m undecided at the moment. I’ll have to think about it some more, maybe a nice long walk in the woods. ๐ŸŒฒ

In four weeks on April 30 the sun will be setting at 7:54 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 31 minutes and 51 seconds later then today. In 2018 on that day, we had partly sunny, rain showers and temperatures between 51 and 38 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 64 and 42 degrees. The record high of 86 degrees was set back in 1903.

Looking ahead, Last Sunset After 8:30 PM ๐ŸŒ† is in 15 weeks, Labor Day ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿญ is in 5 months, Constitution Day ๐Ÿ“œ is in 24 weeks, October ๐Ÿ›ฅ is in 26 weeks and Election Day 2020 ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ is in 83 weeks.

Cliffs Edge

March 29, 2019 Morning

Good morning! I hardly noticed it was a Friday, but eight weeks until the start of Memorial Day Weekend. Hello black flies! You remember me.๐Ÿœ Two weeks to Grilled Cheese Day ๐Ÿง€. Despite being such a supporter of the dairy industry, it’s been a long time since I’ve had a good grilled cheese. Good meal for camping on a rainy day with some soup. I kind of don’t like soup cans because they can’t be burnt at camp but they certainly burnt clean, then can be taken to the transfer station and recycled โ™ป.

This morning it was raining but now it’s just cloudy and damp, around 46 degrees at the bus stop near Valero. โ˜” I’m prepared, I brought my umbrella. There is a south breeze at 8 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Temperatures will drop below freezing at Sunday around 11 pm. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

I was on the fence about taking the bus to work or driving ๐Ÿš˜ in. But I was afraid of getting caught in the rain walking from my truck parked by Downtown SUNY and the Smith Building. Maybe tonight will be a late night, but if I think we are likely to released between 11:30 and 6:30 AM, I’ll go home and get Big Red during some downtown in the evening. That way I’ll only have to park once. Another option is ride sharing, I guess that would be a heck of a lot safer than driving home sleep deprived. Or sleep under the desk until the 6:30 in the morning. ๐Ÿ˜ด I have options. Taking a 40 ft bus ๐Ÿš to work today, no articulated bus today on the 18. A bit crowded but it is generally difficult to justify articulated buses on most of CDTA’s routes.

Today will have showers, mainly before 5pm. ๐ŸŒฆ High of 53 degrees at 4pm. Three degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical day around April 3rd. Maximum dew point of 44 at 1pm. ๐Ÿ–๏ธ South wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. A year ago, we had light drizzle in the morning, which became light rain by afternoon. The high last year was 50 degrees. The record high of 85 was set in 1946. 5.6 inches of snow fell back in 1984.โ„

The sun will set at 7:18 pm with dusk around 7:46 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 50 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 12 hours and 36 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 53 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a slight chance of showers before 8pm, then a chance of showers after 10pm. Cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 42 degrees at 3am. 11 degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical night around April 28th. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2018, we had patches of fog in the evening, which became mostly sunny by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 37 degrees. The record low of 7 occurred back in 1970.

Thursday I left work at five and caught the express bus ๐Ÿš home. I was surprised, twice this week. I think I also left at five on Tuesday. I doubt I’ll get the express bus home tonight and for the Saturday night overnight at work I’ll drive in. Still one or two nights a year driving into work isn’t too bad. No fees to park on the street on the weekends either, so hard to complain. That said I’m kind of tired ๐Ÿ˜ด already in anticipation for how the weekend will be. Maybe a long day today, who knows? I’ll get Big Red later on if I think I’ll be leaving in the middle of the night although they do have buses come Saturday morning.

I went to the laundromat last night to make sure that I had enough clean dress clothes for the long weekend and into next week if necessary. ๐Ÿ‘š I figured if I had the time I should do it tonight as who knows how late I’ll be at work tomorrow. That and I wanted to see if the stain would come out of my pair of pants. ๐Ÿ‘– It did, I was happy ๐Ÿ˜Š about that. Plus parking ๐Ÿ…ฟ is always a challenge at laundromat on Fridays due to people parking illegally there while they are at the bar getting drunk. ๐Ÿป

I was went for my evening walk last night. ๐Ÿšถ Not a bad evening for a walk, certainly nice and mild. ๐ŸŒƒ It was in the fifties so I could wear just a long sleeve shirt and my Carhartt vest that I so love. I really look forward to more mild nights even if it means that it will be a bit sticky out at times. Humidity can be addressed by cold drinks and swimming holes ๐ŸŠ the same can’t be said about freezing cold weather. Maybe when I have my own land and a woodstove eventually I’ll feel different.

Sat our back for a while with a cold glass ๐Ÿธ of water and a hint of apple cider vinegar last night. ๐Ÿ Its gross but in moderation I think I like it better than beer or whiskey. Shit ton cheaper too and no hang over. Maybe I’m growing old. ๐Ÿ‘ด Not too cold either although there was a bit of a breeze. Clouds kind of blocked the stars. Not sure the next time I’ll get to sit out back, tonight will probably be kind of cold and damp with today’s rain showers. โ˜”

Tomorrow will have a chance of showers before 1pm, then a slight chance of showers after 5pm. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 65 degrees at 4pm. 14 degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical day around May 1st. Maximum dew point of 48 at 12pm. South wind 7 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had light drizzle in the morning, which became light rain by afternoon. The high last year was 50 degrees. The record high of 86 was set in 1986. 4.0 inches of snow fell back in 1911.โ„

I expect I will be in the office ๐Ÿข tomorrow when I’m not sleeping. ๐Ÿ˜ด But I’m fine with that. Making money ๐Ÿ’ต is important, especially with $1,100 going out the door today between car insurance ๐Ÿš™ for Big Red and rent. Just a lot of things hit at once. Next month mid-April, after a paycheck or maybe two I have to pay my state taxes and credit card ๐Ÿ’ณ bill. But I think I will survive, things aren’t as bleak as a month ago. Still following my savings plan and I think I’ll keep my fund balance relatively close to where it should be.

Looking ahead to Sunday, showers, mainly before 2pm. High near 47. Northwest wind 9 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. Typical average high for the weekend is 51 degrees.

I’m thinking about washing the remaining salt off my truck on Sunday. ๐Ÿšฟ I think we are done with road salt for the year. Monday is going to be cold but I doubt the sanders will be out. I will however have to turn the heat ๐Ÿ”ฅ back on for at least one more day. I shouldn’t need a lot of groceries, although dish soap is on the top of the list.

I am hoping to visit Mom and Dad’s for Sunday dinner ๐Ÿœbut I’m not sure what Sunday evening will be like for me. I’m taking it one day at time. But soon it will be less busy for me, and I go out and do some fishing. ๐ŸŽฃ Today I’ll have to renew my fishing license, so I have it ready for when the current one expires in two weeks.

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Grilled Cheese Day ๐Ÿง€ when the sun will be setting at 7:34 pm with dusk at 8:03 pm. I usually have cheese at home but I should get some bread ๐Ÿž for that very special occasion. On that day in 2018, we had rain showers, partly cloudy and temperatures between 54 and 29 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 57 degrees. We hit a record high of 84 back in 1977.

In four weeks on April 26 the sun will be setting at 7:50 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 31 minutes and 53 seconds later then today. In 2018 on that day, we had partly cloudy and temperatures between 56 and 39 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 63 and 41 degrees. The record high of 90 degrees was set back in 1990.

So they’re banning shopping bags at the state level. ๐Ÿ‘œHardly a secret I’m not a fan of it on the local level but I have no opinion on a state level. Not my place to pass judgment. I guess it’s kind of good from a statewide perspective, it will reduce waste at least in theory. I kind of liked the free shopping bags certainly while camping, they were perfect for storing the day’s burnable trash while camping ๐Ÿ”ฅ , as trash liners in the bathroom ๐Ÿšฎ and of course for wrapping lunch in to prevent leaks. ๐Ÿ

I always brought back the bags I didn’t chuck in the fire to the store ๐Ÿฌ. But so be it, I guess many citidiots aren’t that responsible. I’ll just have to go back to using reusable bags – I used to use them a lot but they got dirty and worn out and I liked having the plastic ones for camp which is more than 3/4th the year for me.โ›บ I’m sure when I move to another state to buy land for my off grid house, they’ll have the traditional bags and the few that I don’t reuse for various purposes will burn down to nothing quickly in the burn barrel out back. ๐Ÿ›ข๏ธ

Lastly, I get kind of a laugh ๐Ÿ˜‚ out of when reporters read my tweets and my blog to figure out what is happening in Albany. ๐Ÿ“– Like I know shit, they don’t tell me anything. But they must think I’m such a good ole boy. Something like Possum King Vlog ๐Ÿ‘‘. Maybe I’ll be one some day when I live in a more free state out in the sticks. I’m actually pretty dull even though I have a big jacked up truck and I spend a lot of time in the wilderness. ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒAnd I have a thing for Pennsyltucky and fire. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Looking ahead, Grilled Cheese Day ๐Ÿง€ is in 2 weeks, Pack Rat Day ๐Ÿ€ is in 7 weeks, Memorial Day Weekend Starts ๐Ÿ•๏ธ is in 8 weeks, Dog Days of Summer ๐ŸŒป is in 14 weeks and Labor Day Weekend Begins ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿญ is in 22 weeks.
