Wednesday wasn’t a half bad day, I took the 8:15 bus home 🏡. They got us dinner at work which was nice. Took the bus home, listening to John Denver. I don’t know why I’ve been playing his old records so much lately 💿 but they touch something that is missing in my world of suits and ties. I know I have no real excuse for exhaustion except anticipation. 😑

Another starry but modestly cool last night for my evening walk. 🚶 I wasn’t sure if I would get home early enough to get out for the walk but I did. I wore my winter coat but it was unzippered the whole time walk. Now if it could have been nice enough to sit out back and look at the stars ✨ it would have been nice but it’s still March and quite a bit colder than I would have liked. But it got late quickly so after my glass or two of cider vinegar, and a slice of frozen banana 🍌 I retired to bed.

For the longest time yesterday I could not get my phone to connect to the Wi-Fi at work. 📱 Not a really big deal but I’m always trying to save data so I have enough to use at home, and to get some podcasts to listen to 👂 at home. It didn’t matter that much, hopefully today I can download more podcasts, although who knows how much time at home to listen to them. 🎧 There is always the radio I could listen to in bed.

At least I’m earning comp time that I can take off next summer should we have a heat wave 🌊 and I want to spend it at the Potholers.

I noticed one of my pants didn’t wash well last time or had something stained on it, so I’m putting it back in the wash, hoping it will clean up evenly. 👖 Maybe laundry soap, I may have not set mom’s washing machine right. I’m probably going to go to the laundromat on Friday evening, assuming parking 🅿 there isn’t too difficult with all the drunkards taking up the parking spots as they go to the bar. 🍻

I often realize days and weeks are more difficult at work than others. But I’m committed to doing a good job and making a better life for myself. 🏡 Life isn’t always easy or perfect but I’m dedicated to a better tomorrow. That said, I’m a bit concerned about the impact of government and private debt at all levels and climate change. I can work to defend my own life but the future 🔮 of our planet 🌏 and our country itself really is beyond my purview. Climate change is going to be so bad in the coming decades, within my lifetime which is probably almost half over.

The sun is rising earlier now we dawn around 6:20. ☀ Cold start to the day, I turned the heat on but I don’t think the heater is working hard today. Come Thursday it looks like I should be able to turn it off and maybe come Saturday open the windows up again. 🍃 I do like the fresh air. I shouldn’t rush summer too much as muggy hot summer days will be here before you know it.

I made up waffles this morning topped with frozen pineapple and red raspberry.🍍I do agree with that article that we don’t generally eat enough fiber. I know that I certainly eat too much pasta 🍲 as I’m always looking for affordable, easy to make calories when I get home from work late. I always try to increase the amount of inexpensive fruits and vegetables in my feed ration as they are so healthy. I probably eat too much frozen sweet corn 🌽 but I like it and it’s healthier than so much of the overpriced junk foods they sell. 🍬

Monday was a pretty good day, I was able to catch the express bus 🚍 and be home by quarter to six. No complaints there but I really had made no plans for the evening. Too chilly to go down to the park and honestly the sun still sets a bit early for going down to the park for any length of time after work. 🌇

I ended up staying home, laying in bed for a bit, doing what boys do, dreaming of a world to be.👍Then I got on the excerise bike, 🚲rode for about an hour and a half breaking a while for dinner while watching some YouTube videos I downloaded over the weekend. 🎥 I ended up watching a lengthy video from Mike Price’s farm channel, them firing up tractors 🚜, hauling manure and petting cows. 🐮 I don’t know why I like watching farm channel so much but I find them so interesting. Then I watched a video on processing racoon meat 🍖 and a Computerfile video on text encoding. 💻 I have diverse tastes.

Later on after eight when I like to stop riding the bike to avoid making noise for my neighbor 🔇 I worked on some new maps 🌐and GIS content for the blog and some new ideas I have for further blog posts. 💭 I really like the freedom of the blog, free of nasty comment and with full control over placement and styling. Plus it gives me a chance to dream about what my future will be when I live modestly today. I often find that the ideas put forward in the press aren’t always right 📰 so I like to express my thoughts and feelings.

I went for my evening walk a while after nine o’clock. 🚶 It was a pleasant walk but cool. Still there was a lot of stars ✨ and it was quiet. I enjoy the fresh air in the evening 🌃 always a good way to end the day. I just wish it was warm enough to sit out back but within a month we should regularly have days like that.

I did have a nice cold glass of water, actually two with some a drop or two of cider vinegar before bed. 🍷Such an economical drink and much healthier than milk or orange juice. 🍋 I mean I don’t think I’ve used more than a table spoon or maybe two of a modest sized bottle of cider vinegar I bought for two dollars. Any more than a drop or two in a glass of water makes the water very acidic and nasty vinegar tasting but a small drop gives a nice apple 🍏 flavor and a slight amount of acidity almost like cola without the fizzle.

Probably worse on the teeth than drinking milk although at the concentration I drink it I doubt it’s as acidic as ordinary soda and its sugar free as the yeast eats the sugar leaving only the acid. 🐮 I did have my favorite cow drink with dinner though.

That article I shared about climate change yesterday reminded me that we are living in the future 🔮 now and that 2030 is but a decade away and that the things that the smart people told us to do decades ago are finally coming to roost. 🐓 Climate change is already noticeable locally in the numbers and it’s going to be profoundly more noticeable in the coming years, especially for the colored and poor who don’t have the financial resources to escape a changing environment that puts their home and livelihoods at risk💥.

I think it’s foolish to think we can eliminate fossil fuels in a decade or even dramatically reduce emissions but our inaction is going to bite us hard in the next decade or two. 💣 I’m hoping I can protect myself from the worse impacts but many Americans will suffer and quite possibly lose their lives. Addiction to any chemical – be it drugs or fossil fuel – isn’t serious until it is. ⛽

I expect a long somewhat busy week this upcoming week, leading up to April Fools Day.🃏 Fortunately I have lots of dress clothes 👔so I should be set for the week after buying those pants two weeks ago and the dress shirts this week. This week the big car insurance 🚙 bill is due as is rent on Friday. Maybe I’ll get my federal tax refund back this week though. 💸I should have enough money to pay for it all though. I did end up spend $100 between groceries and the shirts but my pantry was getting pretty bare and I needed personal supplies like deodorant.

Hopefully this won’t lead into the weekend but at least trout season starts next Monday. 🎣Might rain this weekend which could lead to some very high water levels. 💦I need to renew my fishing license this week. It expires like April 14th but I want to order online and have it shipped to me to avoid the line. 💻 Same price online as walking down to the DEC or any other retailer. I will need it for my Easter weekend camping trip. 🐇

I was on the fence about turning the heat on last evening as it was not expected to drop below freezing last night but I decided the morning might be cold as the heat 🔥 slowly leaked through the building as the night progressed. It was 63 degrees in my bedroom by the time I retired to bed, 😴 it got up to 66 degrees mid afternoon with the sun hitting the building. It was quite hot in the crawl space when I was in there putting my camping gear away and organizing it in preparation for the new year of camping. I opened up a window for a while but then quickly closed it.

It was a nice enough of an evening last night that I sat out back for a while, looking at the stars ✨ with my feet propped up on the snow bank. Slowly but surely melting away. They still have a fair amount of snow left in the hill-towns when I went out to the folks house for Sunday dinner. I could have gone skiing 🎿 today if I had the time out there but my priority was cleaning the truck for camping and my early morning walk to Five Rivers.

Now that my truck is cleaned and unpacked and my camping gear is organized I’m ready for my first adventure of the year. ⛺ Well first I want to haul the bottles, cans and accumulated recyclable ♻ plastics to the transfer station. I’m also thinking about a run to the scrap yard to recycle broken Christmas lights, old power cables and wire that are cracked, some broken chairs and other metal things that I might even get a buck or two to scrap. 💵 Or that could wait – I just noticed how many broken and junk cables and aluminum tubing from broken chairs I had in my crawl space.🔌 Every buck counts and plus it’s recycling, and no I won’t burn wire even when I do eventually own land and can have fires whenever I want 🔥. Toxic stinky. I don’t expect to make much.

I’m continuing to work on various improvements to the blog. 👀I fix one bug 🐛, I find another. The same is true with my VMS sign. Debugging is a constant struggle. I try to write good code 📝 but I have only a few classes in formal computer programming. 💻 The rest I’ve learned hands on so my technique is not the best but I have learned a wide variety of languages over the years.

I’ve also been doing a lot of thinking and writing 💭 about many topics lately. I kind of like the freedom of having my personal blog and not having to address the nasty comments on Facebook. I might use Facebook a little going forward 👤 but I’m staying away from reading it more than five minutes, once a day now. My focus is the blog. I have some great photo blog posts and interesting fact type posts scheduled for next week.

I am very happy with the Oxford shirts I got at JC Penny.😀 They are comfortable and fit well. 👕 I hope going forward I can find them online, hopefully at a slightly better price then $44 for two shirts — or $22. When Sears was open they had them for usually $16-18 a shirt, depending on the sales. That said, the Sears shirts didn’t hold up well during the end, as I think the material kept getting thinner and thinner as they cut costs, leading to sleeves wearing out prematurely.

I looked last week at my investment accounts last week when finishing my taxes and was very happy. 😊 But now I guess we are heading into a recession. Nice to dream while I still can.  I expect now that the yeild curve ⤵ is negative that the economy is slowing and markets will drop. As I’m continuing to invest both for the midterm and long term aka retirement, I think it’s good for me as I’ll get more shares for my money. It’s kind of like a sale at the grocery store. Unrealized losses are just that – they only exist as an imaginary number. Eventually I’ll have the money to buy land out in the country, 🏡🐮 it’s just a matter of continuing to save and invest.
