It was a nice Thanksgiving ๐Ÿฆƒ with the family. Small little thing but it was nice to spend some time with them before the lock down. ๐Ÿ”’ The COVID numbers are looking bad all around but hopefully when the vaccine starts flowing in a couple of weeks the tied will be stemmed. Social distancing may help but it’s really hard to avoid all human contact even when working from home. Got home and did my evening walk ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป and sat out back for a while.

Heading up to the Adirondacks tomorrow through Sunday. โ›บ Not totally sure yet where but I have a short list. I want to leave by around ten tomorrow and stop to buy some hot coca. โ˜• Tomorrow doesn’t seem like a really nice sunny day so I’ll probably not rush up north. If I do any hiking up a mountain it will be on Sunday I think on my way home.

Pancakes on a rainy morning

November 9, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again in Biden’s America. ๐Ÿ’ต I heard the future markets are on a tear this morning. All that stimulus money has to somewhere if it’s not going to cause inflation. Three weeks to Cyber Monday ๐Ÿ›๏ธ. Foggy and 44 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒซ Calm wind.

Back home and mostly unpacked. ๐Ÿก I thought about staying another day in Madison County ๐Ÿฎbut work days are inevitably long and dark when I’m not working. The flat solar panel doesn’t put out that much energy with the low sun angle.

Out for my morning walk ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป. Foggy but I don’t think it’s that cold but I’m dressed in layers. ๐Ÿงฃ I think I will I work from home ๐Ÿก today although I don’t mind the trip downtown ๐Ÿš, it kind of breaks up the day.

Today will rain, mainly after 11am. Patchy fog before 11am. ๐ŸŒง High of 44 degrees at 11am. 11 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around November 24th. Doesn’t look like much snow ๐ŸŒจ tonight. All rain here but the weather it’s hard to say what they’ll get in the mountains. I increasingly doubt I’ll head out of town this weekend but I could change my mind. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Cold but sunny โ˜€ for Halloween. ๐ŸŽƒ Saturday, sunny, with a high near 44. Light and variable wind. Sunday, a chance of showers after 11am. Partly sunny, with a high near 55. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Typical average high for the weekend is 54 degrees.

Paid my $99 for the truck registration. ๐Ÿš˜ I am really tired ๐Ÿ˜ด of all the costs of motoring, so I’m increasingly thinking about getting rid of having a car come next year. I think bicycling ๐Ÿšด would be so much healthier if I can figure what is a reliable bike. I also have to get my inspection done next month.

I am thinking about now Voting on Election Day ๐Ÿ—ณ or at least dropping off my absentee ballot there. It turns out that this year my polling place is right next door to my bus stop ๐Ÿš and I usually end up going downtown on Tuesdays so that might be the best option for me.

Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until Thanksgiving ๐Ÿฆƒ when the sun will be setting at 4:25 pm with dusk at 4:56 pm (Standard Time). Fallen Leaves

October 19, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. Six weeks to Cyber Monday ๐Ÿ›๏ธ and Beaver Moon ๐ŸŒ•. Buy more plastic shit that makes lots of black smoke when you burn it. ๐Ÿ”ฅ Very cloudy and gray but a mild 54 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜๏ธ Maybe rain โ˜” soon? I should look There is a south breeze at 6 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 50 degrees. The skies will clear around 11 am.

Being so dark and cloudy this morning ๐ŸŒซ๏ธ I feel foggy myself, ๐Ÿคฏ but maybe it’s just a bad case of the Mondays. I have two online meetings today ๐Ÿ“น that I’ll do down at the library, making sure my laptops are charging ๐Ÿ”‹ now as I doubt ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ there will be much solar power. Not sure if we are going to get rain in Delmar, but who knows. It’s probably better to be home then in woods.

Today will have a slight chance of showers after 3pm. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 63 degrees at 2pm. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around October 9th. The record high of 79 was set in 1963. There was a dusting of snow in 1992.โ„

Looks like Centralย New York is pretty wet this morning, ๐ŸŒง so I guess it’s good to be back home. It would be bad driving home in the rain after work, and working from some random library in Central NY when it was pouring rain all day.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:41 pm with sun having an altitude of 37.2ยฐ from the due south horizon (-33.6ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 7.9 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. I am starting to think ๐Ÿค” I took the wrong weekend to go to Central New York but I don’t know. It was a good weekend to go out and enjoy the colors while they are still left ๐Ÿ‚, they are rapidly fading now as we head closer to November. I don’t have any plans now until mid November and with more days being back in the office ๐Ÿข and less remote work ๐Ÿ’ป, it gets harder to take long weekends – plus I’m running low on vacation time. โณ

Looking ahead, there are 6 weeks until Cyber Monday ๐Ÿ›๏ธ and Beaver Moon ๐ŸŒ• when the sun will be setting at 4:23 pm with dusk at 4:54 pm (Standard Time). Texas Hollow 2

October 5, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. Monday, Monday. And not a pay week this week. ๐Ÿ’ธAt least it’s not California Dreaming although these days it seems like North Idaho dreaming would be the song on the radio. Too popular and expensive for my taste now. Next Monday is Columbus Day โ›ต ๐Ÿ‚ . Usually the best for autumn color although this year will likely be past peak. Foggy ๐ŸŒ and cloudy โ˜๏ธ and 44 degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind. The skies will clear around 2 pm.

Today will be partly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 64 degrees at 3pm. Typical for today. Maximum dew point of 49 at 6pm. Light and variable wind. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 59 degrees. The record high of 91 was set in 1941. Should be a nice day for the start of the second week of October.

Kind of slept in today ๐Ÿ› being a gray start to the morning with the fog and clouds. ๐ŸŒซ I had blueberry pancakes ๐Ÿฅž again and lots of coffee โ˜•. I didn’t quite get a chance to go for my walk ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป but hopefully the evening can be good for that.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:44 pm with sun having an altitude of 42.4ยฐ from the due south horizon (-28.4ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 6.6 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 5:53 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (258ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (264ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 6:31 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 55 seconds with dusk around 6:57 pm, which is one minute and 43 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 7:31 pm. At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies ๐ŸŒƒ and temperatures around 61 degrees. The dew point will be 49 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 11 hours and 31 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 50 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be partly cloudy ๐ŸŒค, with a low of 47 degrees at 6am. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around September 27th. Light south wind. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 41 degrees. The record low of 24 occurred back in 1965.

A picture perfect Columbus Day โ›ต ๐Ÿ‚ Weekend on tap. ๐Ÿ˜Ž Saturday, sunny, with a high near 69. Maximum dew point of 51 at 3pm. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 67. Maximum dew point of 52 at 11am. Typical average high for the weekend is 62 degrees. That said, because it’s been a relatively cool late September this year the leaves may be past peak in many locations.

While I’m not totally decided, I’m leaning towards staying in town for Columbus Day Weekend. โ›ต๐Ÿ‚ That doesn’t mean day hikes ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป or even some hunting but I don’t want to go to a crowded campground in Madison County when I can go a week later and see no one. If I didn’t need cell service ๐Ÿ“ถ I would have more options but I’m not really interested in going to either the Green Mountains or Spectulator again. I’ve also only really budgeted for one trip this month.

Looking ahead, there are 8 weeks until Cyber Monday ๐Ÿ›๏ธ and Beaver Moon ๐ŸŒ• when the sun will be setting at 4:23 pm with dusk at 4:54 pm (Standard Time). On that day in 2019, we had mostly sunny and temperatures between 33 and 19 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 42 degrees. We hit a record high of 67 back in 1933.

Along Pheasant Truck Trail

September 9, 2020 Morning

Good morning! What day is it? Who knows, I remote work ๐Ÿ’ป and I’m salary. โฐ So it doesn’t matter. Or as they asked at the start of the meeting yesterday, what county is Andy in this week? Calm wind. ๐ŸŒซ The dew point is fifty-nine degrees.

I woke up this morning a bit stiff and sore. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป Probably Lyme disease or maybe the weather. I don’t know. I’m hoping that I will be feeling better later in the week. I did get a good night’s sleep last night. ๐Ÿ› I was going to go for my morning walk but today. That or I’m just getting old.

At least around here, the fog seems to be mostly clouds ๐ŸŒซ and that’s keeping things cooler for now. I should go for a morning walk ๐Ÿšถ now and then get milk ๐Ÿฅ› and have breakfast ๐Ÿฅฃ before things warm up a bit. I want to get to the library ๐Ÿ“š fairly early so I can upload ๐Ÿ“ค and test my photo uploader. ๐Ÿ“ธ

I got to think about packing for summer vacation soon. ๐Ÿ’ผ Maybe a little bit today but I’ll do most of the packing probably on Thursday. Not sure if I will leave before or after work on Friday, I guess it depends on my work schedule, I probably could work remotely if I stayed overnight in Madison County on Friday. I’m thinking ๐Ÿ’ญ I might not be ready to leave until then as I’m kind of a slow packer.

Really not sure how nice things will be next week ๐ŸŒปbut we will see. If it’s cloudy and rainy I’ll bring my screen tent ๐ŸŽช and use it for shelter at camp. ๐Ÿž It’s still nice to get away and after next week I expect work to be non stop through November. ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ

Saturday's fire
