Camping Areas in Central Adirondacks โ›บ

Cascade Lake – Scenic lake known for Cascade Falls, about a 1/4 mile north of the lake outside of Big Moose and Inlet. Tent campsites that are about a mile back from the road.

Eatonville Road and Otter Creek Area – Otter Creek State Forest and the portion of Independence River Wild Forest that is home to Confusion Flats, is a popular place for equestrians, but the Eatonville Road area is set aside for those who don’t have horses but want to explore the mix of sandy hills that make up the Western Adirondacks.

Francis Lake – If your looking for a campsite you can paddle to on a lake that isn’t so choppy or large near Stillwater Reservoir, consider camping at Francis Lake. Parking is on the shoulder of Number 4 Road outside of Lowville, there also is two designated handicap sites here.

Lester Flow and Cheney Pond – Scenic lake that is popular for paddling. The 1/2 mile road down from Boreas Road as of June 2020 is closed due to washouts. Tent sites exist along the lake, along with one drive-to site on the road down there. No cell service.

Independence River Wild Forest – Not only is there dozens of boat-only sites along Stillwater Reservoir, consider camping on Smith Road or Basket Factory Road which have numerous sites. Cell services is limited, good at certain sites, especially Smith Road Number 1 (Old Firetower Site).

Mason Lake – Small lake located about 10 miles north of Speculator and 5 miles south of Lewey Lake that has several tent and drive-in campsites along it’s shore. Good to fair cell service here. Nice to hear loons, one of the best bass ponds in the area.

Moss Lake – Scenic sandy lake outside of Big Moose/Inlet in the Western Adirondacks. The lake is ringed by an old carriageway and is a popular place to camp and paddle. There is a sign in / peg board when you get to the lake’s parking area to know which sites are available.

Moose River Plains – The state’s largest wilderness drive-to camping area, with over 150 campsites spread out over 35 miles of dirt road.

Northwood Club Road – In Minerva, this road crosses the Boreas River and has several roadside campsites, and passes by Huntley Pond, the NL Tahawus Railroad (which can be hiked to the Boreas River at Hudson River), and the Blue Ledges on the Hudson trailhead. No cell service.

Vanderwhacker Road -Five or six campsites exist along Vanderwhacker Road, which can be muddy in the spring and icy in late autumn. Additional designates campsites exist near where NY 28N crosses the Vanderwhacker River. Near the trail to the Vanderwhacker Firetower, No cell service.

Woodhull Lake Reservoir – Off of NY 28 in McKeevers, about 10 miles south of Old Forge. Not only is this beautiful reservoir to paddle, there are some campsites along the shore, with drive-to campsites along Wolf Lake Landing Road which leads to it. Part of Wolf Lake Landing Road is erroded, but other parts are fresh stone-dust. It’s remote wilderness but there good cell service in mcuh of the area.

The Weekend that Was At Moose River Plains

This past long independence Day Weekend I went up to Moose River Plains. Some observations and notable things from the weekend that was — I’m going to post additional pictures and stories later.

Wednesday

  • I got to leave work early on Wednesday around 3 PM, so I was home by 3:30 PM on the road by 4 PM.
  • Deciding that the traffic would be bad at that hour on all expressways, I decided to shun the main roads for the blue highway.
  • I took State Farm Road (NY 155) to US 20 West to Duanesburg Church Road past Mariaville Farm to NY 30 to Indian Lake then out to Cedar River Road.
  • Driving past the Mariaville Farm, I was noticing how many hogs they had in a barnyard near their home. And I saw a hog taking a piss — they pee like cows. Farming is great but I think I’d want more distance my house and livestock.
  • I still need to visit For the Love of Bacon. It’s just off of the first exit of Interstate 88, I have no excuse not to.
  • Google Maps estimates that the trip via the Northway at normal traffic would take 2 hours and 20 minutes, my shun-pike way took about 3 1/2 hours, although the Northway with delays was looking closer to 3 hours when I checked on Wednesday evening.
  • That said it was worth it because I really hate driving on the expressway.
  • I thought I heard a noise driving up to Moose River Plains that had me a bit worried, turned out just to be strap on the kayak flapping around.
  • Made it to Cedar River Flow by 7:30, took some pictures at the flow and signed in.
  • There are new entrance signs. They say you should call for a camping permit for all stays over three nights even if you plan to camp at a different part of the plains. I think that’s silly and not consistent with the regulations – I stayed four nights but at two different sites.
  • I wouldn’t object to getting a camping permit but it’s a pain to play phone tag with the ranger when you should be able to do it online.
  • As soon as I stepped out of the truck I realized what a buggy weekend it was going to be with a shit ton of horse flies
  • The first night I camped at campsite 26 which is a little ways up from the Silver Run. Nice night, but buggy until it got dark.
  • It was nice to leave work early and not have to set up in the dark. Kept my campsite simple as I planned to break camp early and get a site I really liked around the Moose River so I could walk to a swimming hole from camps.
  • I bought some wood at Quinzal’s on Cedar River Road on the way up and had a good fire with that plus some wood I found in the woods.
  • Stayed up late until around midnight, drank a lot of beer, listened to some podcasts and music until around midnight.

Independence Day

  • The next morning I got up probably too early, stumbled around and took down camp. Headed straight toward the Big T, hoping to find a campsite near water in the plains where I could swim.
  • I ended up choosing campsite 94 which was a short walk to the Moose River Bridge which at the time I set up had no near neighbors
  • It was a nice site, open and airy but well screened and set back from the road. Had a nice new outhouse and picnic table although the fire place was in rough shape.
  • Deer flies were nasty.
  • I tried sitting and reading in my hammock and despite being covered from head to toe in a mixture of Picardin, DEET and PMD it only limited them a bit.
  • Another family on Independence Day took the campsite across the way – a good working class family and they had a pretty wild party up at Moose River Plains on independence Day with lots of country music, fireworks and alcohol.
  • Independence Day was hot and buggy, the deer fly were so bad for a while I left hammock and took a nap in my truck with the fan blowing.
  • Despite napping in my truck a deer fly got inside and bit my lip while napping. It hurt like a mother. I almost thought about taking down camp and heading home.
  • I eventually strapped on my bathing suit and went down to the Moose River to cool off for a few hours.
  • Finished one book started another one. Very pleasant laying in the hammock after dark .
  • Did a night hike to Icehouse Pond and it was nice but buggy.
  • Had a decent size fire, lit off some small fireworks

Friday

  • Friday I hiked back to the Beaver Lake. Been a long time since I’ve been back there. Not many fish biting with the heat.
  • Beaver Pond at least had a steady breeze that limited the horse flies but it was hot.
  • That said while I was down by the lake I got bit by a horse fly and my ear got swollen.
  • I forgot how enormous that
  • Hiked back to camp then back into the Moose River to cool down.
  • In the evening I hiked down Otter Brook Road to the Sly Pond Trailhead.
  • Laid out on the Moose River Bridge for about an hour looking at the stars
  • It was pretty laying back in the hammock watching the stars and my laser light show on the trees above how the light scattered and was beautiful.

Saturday

  • Saturday was a bit more stormy with lots of clouds but only a few showers
  • I had plenty of electricity despite the lack of sun for most the day
  • I did more reading, laid in the hammock, wrote some blog posts and listened to podcasts
  • Disassembled my camp stove and determined it was the burner unit is where the leak is and needs to be replaced.
  • I went to Moose River to swim for a few hours, listening to podcasts.
  • Didn’t gets lot of rain but most of the day was cloudy. Certainly not the heavy rains of Albany.
  • Went back to Icehouse Pond to fish around dusk
  • Sat out on the Moose River Bridge watching the stars into the wee hours of the morning. Much clearer tonight no light pollution

Sunday

  • Sunday I broke camp modestly early although I proscastinated a bit as I wanted to top off the starting battery with solar so it would be healthy to start the truck.
  • Ended up deciding Stillwater was too far away to hike the Fire Tower so decided to paddle Moss Lake.
  • Not a really big late, lots of noise pollution from Big Moose Road and crowds, wouldn’t paddle again and caught nothing.
  • I wish I had done something different but I felt like I should use the kayak having brought it.
  • Headed home shunning the interstates again, taking NY 28 through Old Forge to Remsen then Middleville and NY 169 to Little Falls to NY 5S and then decided to take NY 152 through Rural Grove down to NY 20 and home. Slower than the Thruway but I like seeing all the farms along it.

Campfire

July 3, 2019 Morning

Good morning! What day is it? Get Away Day before Independence Day, of course. Four weeks to Teeth Cleaning Day ๐Ÿ˜ƒ. I figure that way I’ll remember the appointment. Partly sunny and 68 degrees at the Elm Ave Park & Ride – CDTA. That said, the driver ain’t waiting, she left the station ๐Ÿš‰ a minute early, dropped the hammer ๐Ÿ”จ at the green light ๐Ÿšฆ and has powered through at least one red light. Must be her last trip of the day. Calm wind. The dew point is 64 degrees. Hot and humid.

That said maybe she was flying โœˆ because she knew how bad the traffic would be in the Empire State Plaza. ๐Ÿš•๐Ÿš“๐Ÿš—๐Ÿš๐ŸšŒ Things are so pokey this morning. With the traffic delays going through I’m kind of glad I didn’t drive in, as it’s a lot more fun to be blogging on my phone, sitting on the air conditioned bus then wrangling my way through bumper to bumper traffic. I’m sure I’ll have my share to deal with this afternoon.

Things are packed except for the cooler and the propane but I’ll get those things after work and be off by six or maybe earlier if they close the office down early. ๐Ÿข I expect a slow commute for the first half hour but the air conditioning works well in the truck and it’s not like it gets real dark until like 9:15 pm or later in the Adirondacks this time of year. Google Maps estimates with traffic, I’ll be to Wakely Dam by 8:40. ๐ŸŒ„

I expect it will be a nice weekend at Moose River Plains, but certainly a hot one too. I heard it was going to be buggy, ๐Ÿœso I bought a container of DEET, Picardin and Oil of Eucalyptus insect repellents. All but the Picardin came in plastic spray bottles, which is handy for when they run out — don’t have to save and bring to transfer station. Hopefully that will control the bugs well.

I am bringing the kayak, as one night I’ll probably take it out on Helldiver Pond for some evening fishing and enjoying the sunset. ๐ŸŽฃ I doubt I’ll go out on Cedar River Flow this year, but my mind could change. Or maybe I’ll take it out on one of Chain Lakes or even Moss Lake. I’m thinking of on Saturday doing the Stillwater Firetower — or maybe Sunday, it depends on what the weather looks like come Saturday and how soon the front come through.๐Ÿšถ

Today will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 89 degrees at 4pm. Seven degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 64 at 8am. Light north wind. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. It was humid. The high last year was 94 degrees. The record high of 102 was set in 1911. The real humidity builds on after I’m up in the Adirondacks.

The sun will set at 8:36 pm with dusk around 9:11 pm, which is 13 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for mostly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 81 degrees. The dew point will be 62 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 15 hours and 13 minutes of daytime, an increase of 48 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 63 degrees at 5am. Two degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 62 at 8pm. Calm wind. In 2018, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It became very sticky as the night progressed. It got down to 71 degrees. The record low of 44 occurred back in 1971.

On this day in 1886, the New-York Tribune becomes the first newspaper to use a linotype machine, ๐Ÿ’ป eliminating typesetting by hand โœ‹. I am pretty sure that like a computer only a little bit more primative. Now they probably use computers but not at Tribune because they don’t exist any more.

Independence Day will be sunny and hot, with a high near 91. โ˜€ Calm wind becoming southeast around 6 mph in the afternoon. Muggy as duck with dew points approaching or exceeding seventy. Even in Pennsylvania you can get a ticket for going that fast. I’m glad I’ll be up in the Adirondacks sipping and ice cold beer. ๐Ÿป I just hope that I won’t run out beer but they probably sell that in Inlet.

Friday starts the dog days of summer. ๐Ÿถ Hot and muggy. Scattered showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. โ˜€ Partly sunny, with a high near 89. South wind 7 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. Summer weather, with the muggers in full force.

Saturday looks pretty unstable but Sunday will be absolutely beautiful. ๐Ÿ˜• Saturday, showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 8am, then showers likely between 8am and noon, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after noon. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 85. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Maximum dew point of 72 at 10am.

Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 82. Maximum dew point of 60 at 6am. Typical average high for the weekend is 82 degrees. Sunday will be really nice, I should try to maximize the most of the day. I might do some hiking on one of the shorter trails along NY 28 south of Old Forge, as that’s the way I plan to come home.

Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until *MY* Teeth Cleaning Day ๐Ÿ˜ƒ when the sun will be setting at 8:16 pm with dusk at 8:48 pm. On that day in 2018, we had partly sunny and temperatures between 86 and 67 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 82 degrees. We hit a record high of 98 back in 1917.

Saturday night

July 3, 2017 Afternoon

Good afternoon! Partly sunny and 68 degrees in Inlet. There is a west breeze at 11 mph. The dew point is 55 degrees. A pretty nice summer day for sure.

This afternoon will have isolated showers after 3pm. Mostly sunny, with a high of 70 degrees at 2pm. 12 degrees below normal. Maximum dew point of 55 at 12pm. West wind 11 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had mostly cloudy skies and a high of 82 degrees. The record high of 102 was set in 1911.

The sun will set at 8:44 pm with dusk around 9:19 pm, which is 15 seconds earlier than yesterday. At sunset, look for mostly clear conditions and 64 degrees. The dew point will be 55 degrees. There will be a west-northwest breeze at 7 mph. Today will have 15 hours and 21 minutes of daytime, an increase of 52 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be partly cloudy, with a low of 49 degrees at 5am. 12 degrees below normal. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm in the evening. In 2016, it got down to 54 degrees with mostly sunny skies. The record low of 44 occurred back in 1971.

On this day in 1886, the New-York Tribune becomes the first newspaper to use a linotype machine, eliminating typesetting by hand.

Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until Mutts Day when the sun will be setting at 8:22 pm with dusk at 8:55 pm. On that day in 2016, we had rain, drizzle, fog, mist, cloudy skies and temperatures between 71 and 63 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 82 degrees. We hit a record high of 98 back in 1917.

The first two days camping at Moose River Plains — Friday June 30th and Saturday July 1st were certainly wet. It rained and rained on Saturday, and it poured driving up here. There was a part of Cedar River – Limekiln Lake Road that was so wet that even driving at 15 MPH the windshield wipers were having trouble keeping up. Fortunately, I picked a fairly well drained campsite, which while wet in some parts after the heavy rain remained relatively dry.

Saturday with the rain, I mostly stayed in camp, spending some time reading and listening to podcasts, mostly under the truck cap. Ran out of propane on Saturday evening after dinner, ended up going down to Old Forge in search of more propane on Sunday, but being a Sunday everything was closed. Old Forge was crazy with the traffic. So I ended up turning around, an ended up hiking to Cascade Falls and Cascade Lake in Big Moose.

Yesterday, I hiked back to Cascade Lake and Cascade Falls.ย It was a pretty nice afternoon. It’s about a 7 mile round trip hike and while the trail was wet in parts, all and all it was pretty pleasant. Cascade Falls aren’t as impressive as their name suggests, but Cascade Lake is quite scenic.

I ended up buying an overpriced $6 one-lb container of propane. Thatโ€™s really expensive when the last time I filled my 20-lb propane tank for $11 total. But the dual fuel stove wasn’t working well, especially because the gas I have is quite old. I just got to make sure to keep at least one of those tiny disposable cylnders (which I hate) around for emergencies, especially when camping in the Adirondacks where there are limited suppliers of propane. That said, once I get my tank filled again, I donโ€™t expect I will need more propane until at least the end of the summer. The bigger user of propane is the heater, and I donโ€™t use that in the summer.

Took a shower at Limekiln Lake Campground, but the beach was closed so no swimming. But I apprechiated getting clean after getting wet the previous days from all the mud. Baked another pizza (which I think is a fun, delicious camp food) in my oven last night, then went down to Helldiver Pond to watch the sunset. Rained and poured overnight, but by mid-morning got quite sunny and things started to dry back out again.

This morning, I made up blueberry muffins, a bit without local blueberries because they arenโ€™t out yet I the Adirondacks. More sun and warmer weather would be nice, but you have to deal with what god gives you. I was thinking of moving my campsite down to the Plains so I could walk down there tonight to watch the starts but with my gear still pretty wet, I decided against that for now.

This afternoon, I’m heading down to Moss Lake.ย Probably do some fishing and paddling on the lake. I do need to get some ice and I might see if I can get my propane tank filled, but if not the little, expensive container should work through Monday. I will get it filled before the next time I go camping. Assuming that I can get turned around in Inlet — the traffic is crazy.

Rain showers change everything ๐ŸŒง๏ธ

I was going to take today off to go to the Adirondacks or Schoharie County or maybe the Green Mountains but the forecast is trending wetter then I expected. So I’m going to head into the office today to work and maybe reconsider a day off midweek next week to do something fun probably with the mountain bike.

Good morning! Yeah, it’s Friday! Rain and 55 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜” Calm wind. The dew point is 51 degrees. The skies will clear tomorrow around 1 pm.

I guess I’m having the ultimate in fad breakfasts today, probably something they would eat on the colored television … ๐Ÿฅฃ Reheated quinoa with chia seeds, topped with Greek yogurt, shredded apple with a ton of cinnamon and ginger and black coffee. โ˜• I heard it’s National Coffee Day. Black is beautiful but don’t tell the teat strippers. ๐Ÿฎ And I don’t want to drink too much, as my doctor says not to. ๐Ÿšฝ  I did rehydrate well last night. At any rate, I actually doubt people on the colored television eat such things, ๐Ÿ“บ not enough corporate profits manufacturing such things plus not enough sugar and saturated fats to keep people tossing it in their shopping carts. ๐Ÿ›’

Up and going this morning, โ˜บ with the rain I’m catching the early express downtown and will walk laps on the Plaza or the Knickerbocker Arena to get my steps ๐Ÿ‘ฃ as much as possible before work. I might walk down to the library ๐Ÿ“š after work, it depends on how wet it is but I could use a good book or two to read ๐Ÿ“–. I really like getting up at five o’clock after getting to bed at nine. ๐Ÿ› Early to bed and early rise is great, especially when you have good meals cooking down on stove. ๐Ÿ‘จ‍๐Ÿณ Not so much this morning, as I have plenty in my fridge cooked, and I’m cutting back on calories today after a heavy day yesterday.

Expensive day – $2,300 going out of the door ๐Ÿšช today for rent, car insurance, stock – bond purchases and the Roth IRA. That’s after getting paid $1,800 this week, so my account balance will drop to a hundred or so above the minimum. ๐Ÿคฏ I will have sufficient funds but I might tap my rainy day fund before my trip to West Virginia so I can retire some credit card ๐Ÿ’ณ debt early so I have extra room on my card for emergencies. It happens occasionally to the best of us. As my checking account isn’t interest bearing these days with inflation you don’t want to keep more than a few pennies above the minimum with the bank ๐Ÿฆ.

Today will rain, mainly after 7am. Cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a high of 60 degrees at 3pm. Nine degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around October 19th. Maximum dew point of 53 at 4pm. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 62 degrees. The record high of 86 was set in 1921.

I took off yesterday to do a day trip with my parents to the Adirondacks. โ›ฐ ๐Ÿ“ธ They’re getting up in the years and walking is hard for them so we didn’t go far from the car but in parts there was some nice color ๐Ÿ‚ and I showed them around Speculator, Piseco-Powley Road then Canal Place and Moss Island in Little Falls. It was a great trip, nice to spend a day with the family ๐Ÿ‘ช as in your forties you know those days won’t last forever. I made some really good hummus to have with lunch, mom made some good cheese and turkey wraps. ๐Ÿ˜‹ Nice breeze on the lake, colors varied from good to quite muted. ๐Ÿ We had a nice picnic on the shores of Lake Pleasant in Speculator then dinner at Poncho’s Mexican ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฝ in Elsmere. It was good Mexican, the chips and food super greasy but that’s to be expected. Came home and had some edamame and butternut squash to have more fiber to tie down all those fats — with some ginger and tumerac because I like such things. ๐ŸŒฏ And no dessert. ๐Ÿ˜‹ Chose a light breakfast today. It’s fun to have some junk with friends and family, especially knowing how fast time goes by so quickly.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:47 pm with sun having an altitude of 45° from the due south horizon (-25.8° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 6 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:05 pm with the sun in the west (261°). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (268°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 6:42 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 54 seconds with dusk around 7:09 pm, which is one minute and 46 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waning Gibbous ๐ŸŒ– Moon in the east (86°) at an altitude of 2° from the horizon, 229,425 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 7:43 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 58 degrees. The dew point will be 53 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Tomorrow will have 11 hours and 50 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 52 seconds over today.

Times of rain this evening. ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 52 degrees at 4am. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around September 18th. Maximum dew point of 53 at 6pm. North wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. In 2022, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 39 degrees. The record low of 28 occurred back in 1991.

The rain clears out for the Saturday. ๐Ÿ˜€ A chance of showers before 8am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 68. North wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. Not as nice of a forecast then they were predicting ๐Ÿ”ฎ but not a wash out.

I was originally planning on heading out to Rennselaerville State Forest and then Burnt-Rossman or maybe the Green Mountains ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿ•๏ธ before the forecast turned to rain โ˜” today. Not sure what my weekend plans are now, I’m thinking I will rattle can over the rust on Big Red on Saturday.๐Ÿ–Œ๏ธ๐Ÿ›ป I could do an overnight somewhere but I have my doubts at this point. It might be better to stay closer to home, save some money, especially if I want to do some trail riding mid-week, and maybe head out of town next weekend. ๐Ÿง€ Somehow I’m very interested in that whole Little Falls Cheese festival, which cow owners tell me is a really fun event to attend. This year Piseco-Powley would likely be at peak color for Columbus Day Weekend ๐Ÿ‚ so maybe that’s where I should go. The colors weren’t bad yesterday when I was up there with the folks.

Looking ahead to Sunday the first of October, sunny, โ˜€ with a high near 75. Maximum dew point of 57 at 4pm. Wow, that sounds like a beautiful day for starting out October. Basically perfect, when you figure the typical average high for the weekend is 68 degrees. ๐ŸŽƒ Next to make more meals with pumpkin, lol. That might be a good day to play around on the mountain bike trails on Wolf Hill. ๐Ÿšฒ That is if I don’t decide to do an overnight somewhere. I don’t know.

Looking ahead, there are 8 weeks until Buy Nothing Day ๐Ÿ›๏ธ when the sun will be setting at 4:27 pm with dusk at 4:57 pm (Standard Time). Day after Thanksgiving, seems so soon. ๐Ÿฆƒ If there isn’t a ton of snow, I’ll probably head up north for that day, as rifle season is waning in those days. ๐ŸฆŒ Probably camp along NY 8, if I hike it will be a more popular trail with lots of blaze orange on. On that day in 2022, we had partly sunny and temperatures between 49 and 24 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 46 degrees. We hit a record high of 70 back in 2014.
