The first Friday in June 2023

Technically it’s a day too early to be listening to that song about Billy Jo McAllister but on the other side it feels such an appropriate song. Seems like so many so many conversations. I’m just looking forward to being able to wear daisies in my hair. ๐ŸŒผ

Good morning! Yeah, it’s Friday! Sunny and 64 degrees at the for the morning walk in Delmar. ๐ŸŒž There is a north-northwest breeze at 5 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 57 degrees. ๐Ÿฎ The air tastes like grain and hay.

Last night wasn’t that warm ๐Ÿ˜ฐ though after getting my steps ๐Ÿ‘ฃ in and doing some leg and arm crunches I was feeling sweaty. ๐Ÿ’ช

I think I’m going to do eggs ๐Ÿฅš, spinach and beans for breakfast ๐Ÿณ this morning. I have that lunch today at work but first I want to make sure I have a stomach full of fiber so I limit how much of that inevitably high calorie restaurant food. Also trying to get in as many steps ๐Ÿ‘ฃ as possible in the morning in case this evening is very wet. I’m somewhat disappointed that I won’t be getting out of town this weekend.

Today will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1pm. Sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 88 degrees at 1pm. 12 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 60 at 9am. North wind 5 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. It was somewhat humid. The high last year was 78 degrees. The record high of 94 was set in 1895.

Going to be another ol hot summer day, ๐Ÿ– this day with a bit more humidity but still hardly oppressive. Right it’s super nice. Too bad it’s going to turn to rain and much cooler come this evening ๐ŸŒƒ into the weekend. I guess enjoy it while you still can thought it will be back for the work week from hell but then they’ll be gone for the summer. ๐Ÿ‘ฟ My thoughts are totally on the Potholers which I’ll be at in two weeks, God willing for the Juneteenth Weekend, which is my favorite holiday of the year.

I was hoping to walk down to the Park and Ride ๐Ÿšbut breakfast took longer than expected ๐Ÿ—ก with all the chopping and then it seemed like the eggs weren’t cooked enough ๐Ÿณ so I had to put them back in broiler a bit longer. I did double check โ˜‘ to make sure the oven is off before heading out. Ultimately I walked halfway to the Park and Ride and I’m thinking I’ll be closing in on 4 miles before I start work at nine. Worse comes to worse I’ll wear a rain coat for the evening walk ๐Ÿšถ.

Tonight will have showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 2am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 60. ๐ŸŒง๏ธ North wind 5 to 7 mph becoming northeast after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

It looks like National Gird is busy upgrading the lines by the High School ๐Ÿšธ to add new power poles and electricity capacity to support more electric buses in the coming years. They cut the trees before Indiana bat ๐Ÿฆ‡ season and it looks like they have it marked out for the poles to be installed in the coming days. Electric buses are the future as are electric cars. It’s happening, finally now.

Then for Saturday, scattered showers, with thunderstorms also possible after noon. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 70. ๐ŸŒฅ ๐Ÿ‘‰ โ˜€ North wind 7 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

I decided on Saturday I am going to browse used bicycles ๐Ÿšฒ to see what is available at a few local stores. I would kind of prefer a more road bike for commuting and longer distance travel then my hybrid bicycle. But I’m thinking I will continue my effort to restore my old bicycle maybe reaching out to Albany Bicycle Rescue for some help on the wheel. If I’m planning on doing a lot of bicycle commuting it might be best to have a back up after things break down as the inevitably will. ๐Ÿ›

Then heading over to Colonie to visit John Wolcott and if the weather is decent take him out to the Crossings. ๐Ÿž Then in the evening I plan to head over to the Albany Pine Bush ๐Ÿฆ‹ and stop at Market 32 in Guilderland for groceries. ๐Ÿ›’ Sunday go out and see the folks. ๐Ÿ‘ช And then the big final week ahead.

One week from now session should be wrapping up ๐Ÿง‘๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿ’ผ and I should be able to put away my poorly fitting dress clothes for a while as I figure out what my future looks like. I’m ready for some nice summer weekends in the Potholers. Sunset on that day is 8:33 pm with dusk at 9:06. I know it well, I’ve been staying up too late. ๐ŸŒ‡ 77 degrees is the normal high, it got up to 93 degrees back in 2011. Long range says 75 and sunny for next Friday but it’s certain to change.

Good morning! Happy Pack Rat Day ๐Ÿ€

Despite the arrival of green up weeks ago, with the very low humidity and breeze they are talking about Red Flag conditions today. So probably best for pack rats everywhere to keep their piles of debris for Friday night bonfires rather than lighting it off today with a shit ton of used motor oil and diesel. That said, probably the rednecks that do the most burning of things are the biggest pack rats as a lot of things like metal don’t burn well and you never know when you can use that piece of junk.

Cloudy and a chilly 43 degrees in Delmar for the morning walk. โ˜ There is a north-northwest breeze at 10 mph. ๐Ÿƒ.

Talk about unmotivating weather to get yourself going this morning. I had to get out the jeans ๐Ÿ‘– and flannel shirt and vest that I wore this weekend for camping before going out. My windows are closed upstairs. The rest of the week will be warmer but still cool.

I’m thinking this morning it will be quinoa and barley with cherries ๐Ÿ’ for breakfast. Yesterday was reheated quiche with extra kale and tomatoes and Monday was oat meal. Always trying to keep things mixed up both for keeping it interesting and delicious ๐Ÿ˜‹ but also to have a good mix of vitamins and minerals. With the growing season underway looking forward to adding more local foods soon too.

Today will start out mostly cloudy, ๐ŸŒฅ then gradually becoming sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 57 degrees at 5pm. 15 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 11th. Northwest wind 10 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 67 degrees. The record high of 92 was set in 2017.

Got out from work at 6:10 pm last night, ๐Ÿš then had dinner around seven, voted ๐Ÿ—ณ and walked 8.2 miles for the day. It really helps the days are longer now. Sat out back for a while on the tailgate of my truck, as it was a mild evening before retiring to bed ๐Ÿ› a quarter after eight.

Heading to the dry cleaner this morning on my way into work, ๐Ÿ•ด๏ธI’ll have to put it on my card ๐Ÿ’ณ as I got busy again at work yesterday and forgot to get to the bank ๐Ÿฆ. It’s fine. Then I’ll get olives and chilli ๐ŸŒถ peppers at the store after work.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:53 pm with sun having an altitude of 66.7° from the due south horizon (-4.2° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.6 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:32 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (291°). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (298°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:13 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 15 seconds with dusk around 8:45 pm, which is one minute and 2 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:26 pm. At sunset, look for clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 52 degrees. There will be a north-northwest breeze at 10 mph. Today will have 14 hours and 44 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 31 degrees at 6am. 18 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 1st. North wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light northwest after midnight. In 2022, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 46 degrees. The record low of 29 occurred back in 1981.

Lupine Festival looks to be at least somewhat wet. ๐Ÿฆ‹ Saturday, showers likely, mainly after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 68. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Maximum dew point of 54 at 12pm. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 75. Maximum dew point of 50 at 7am. Typical average high for the weekend is 73 degrees.

Looking ahead, there are 5 weeks until Summer ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ when the sun will be setting at 8:38 pm with dusk at 9:11 pm. On that day in 2022, we had partly cloudy, rain showers and temperatures between 70 and 51 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 81 degrees. We hit a record high of 97 back in 1938.

April 30, 2023 6 AM Update

The rain let up and I’m up for my morning walk at 6:20. ๐ŸŒง๏ธ

It was raining pretty hard at 5:30 so I delayed getting out of bed for a while but I’m moving forward. 13.9 miles walked on the rainy Saturday though I doubt I’ll make it that far today.

Good morning! Where did April go? I don’t know, I think I was too busy searching ๐Ÿ”Ž for Jesus on my own โ›ช, playing that dirty old John Prine record, walking ๐Ÿšถ and eating kale. ๐Ÿฅฆ And watching as the wrinkles grew ๐Ÿ‘ด๐Ÿป as I lost the chubbiness.

Clouds, a few sprinkles and 49 degrees in Delmar for the morning walk. โ˜” There is a southeast breeze at 5 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The skies will clear tomorrow around 7 am. Just in time for the work week. ๐Ÿข

I’m out walking ๐Ÿšถ at the park ๐Ÿž trying to get as many steps in as possible early. I don’t know how much it is going to rain so it’s best to get in as many steps in as possible before it gets wetter out.

Today will rain, with thunderstorms also possible after 5pm. Cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 60 degrees at 1pm. Six degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 17th. Maximum dew point of 53 at 1pm. Southeast wind 6 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. A year ago, we had sunny skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 64 degrees. The record high of 86 was set in 1903. There was a dusting of snow in 2008.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:53 pm with sun having an altitude of 62.1° from the due south horizon (-8.7° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 3.2 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:15 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (285°). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (291°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:54 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 6 seconds with dusk around 8:24 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Gibbous ๐ŸŒ” Moon in the south-southeast (152°) at an altitude of 54° from the horizon, 249,862 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:02 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and thunderstorms ๐ŸŒฉ and temperatures around 57 degrees. The dew point will be 53 degrees. Breezy, 16 mph breeze โ›… from the east with gusts up to 29mph. Today will have 14 hours and 5 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 32 seconds over yesterday.

This evening will rain โ˜” and possibly have a thunderstorm, before 5am, then a chance of rain and thunderstorms after 5am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Low around 47. East wind 9 to 16 mph becoming west after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Monday with have a chance of showers before 8am, then a chance of showers after 11am. Partly sunny, with a high near 62. ๐ŸŒฅ ๐Ÿ‘‰ โ˜€ South wind 9 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

As previously noted, next Sunday is 8 PM Sunset ๐ŸŒ‡ when the sun will be setting at 8:03 pm with dusk at 8:33 pm. On that day in 2022, we had mostly cloudy and temperatures between 59 and 45 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 69 degrees. We hit a record high of 92 back in 1930.

Scott Patent Mountain

April 26, 2023 Morning

I bet the teats on that camel in Vermont is cold this morning ๐Ÿช

Maybe it’s just a heavy dew this morning but boy is it cold. Suns a rising quickly but it was hard to get out of bed with the cold.

Good morning! What day is it? A Frosty Hump Day, of course. Mostly clear and 32 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒ… Calm wind.

Hopefully this Wednesday won’t have a fast let down like like a camel has. ๐Ÿฅ› Regardless I’m moving but not that quick, as I do my morning walk ๐Ÿšถ. 8.2 miles walked yesterday.

Today will have a chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 4pm. Increasing clouds ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 58 degrees at 2pm. Six degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 13th. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 9 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning, which became light rain by afternoon. The high last year was 55 degrees. The record high of 90 was set in 1990. 0.3 inches of snow fell back in 1993.โ„

I can’t believe how cold โ„ it’s been lately. My office ๐Ÿข felt cold yesterday and I have had to wear my hoodie both for my morning and evening walks. Maybe I was spoiled after those 80 degrees days earlier in April. El Nino is coming this summer ๐Ÿ– so they’re predicting a hot one. I just want my hot coffee โ˜• when I get back inside.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:54 pm with sun having an altitude of 60.8ยฐ from the due south horizon (-10ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 3.3 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:11 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (283ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ

The sunset is in the west-northwest (289ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:50 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 4 seconds with dusk around 8:19 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the First Quarter ๐ŸŒ“ Moon in the west-southwest (239ยฐ) at an altitude of 63ยฐ from the horizon, 251,715 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:57 pm. At sunset, watch out for for rain ๐ŸŒง and thunderstorms ๐ŸŒฉ and temperatures around 51 degrees. There will be a west-northwest breeze at 6 mph. Today will have 13 hours and 55 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 37 seconds over yesterday.

Yesterday evening the Voorheesville bus ๐Ÿš never came. I waited and waited assuming it was running late like the other five riders, some going to Voorheesville but it never came. Ended up waiting and taking the local home. ๐Ÿš Then I gave the riders parked at the Elm Ave Park and Ride a ride over in my big jacked up truck. ๐Ÿ›ป And of course the local was running late too so I didn’t end up having dinner until 6:45 and I was hungry.

Tonight will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 2am, then a slight chance of showers between 2am and 3am. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 39 degrees at 5am. Not as cold. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 21st. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. In 2022, we had light rain in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 39 degrees. The record low of 26 occurred back in 1963.

Still the weekend looks cold and wet. ๐Ÿ˜ž Saturday, showers likely, mainly after 8am. Cloudy, with a high near 55. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Sunday, a chance of showers. Marsh Edge of Pond

April 25, 2023 Morning

Late again โŒš

Does anybody use a watch in 2023? Second gear didn’t want to engage properly but I’m finally out walking and I think I can make up sufficient time during breakfast to catch the express.

Good morning! Happy Tuesday. Partly cloudy and 38 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ›… There is a northwest breeze at 6 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The skies will clear around noontime.

I’m up and moving ๐Ÿ˜ด early enough to avoid the smoldering cars and the traffic around the High School ๐Ÿซ and I think I’ll make the morning work for me. I think I’ll reheat those pancakes ๐Ÿฅž I made up this weekend. Then hurry into the shower, iron my clothes and run out to the bus. ๐ŸšŒ That said, usually these days the bus is running late so I’ll probably be good on time.

Today will have a slight chance of showers after 1pm. Partly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 54 degrees at 5pm. 10 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 5th. Northwest wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 69 degrees. The record high of 89 was set in 2009. 0.3 inches of snow fell back in 1928.โ„ I think the winter season is almost done.

Monday was good, โ˜บ a somewhat busy day but I found a spec sheet ๐Ÿ“„ for my bicycle ๐Ÿšฒ so I could order parts for it. I believe I’m getting closer to getting it back on the road. Walked 9.1 miles, mostly in the evening after work but I also stepped out of the office mid-day for while.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:54 pm with sun having an altitude of 60.5° from the due south horizon (-10.3° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 3.4 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:10 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (283°). ๐Ÿ“ธ

Today is a pay day ๐Ÿ’ต which is good as rent is due the end of the week with May just around the corner. My rent remains quite affordable and living in the city I don’t have to drive anywhere. And once I get my bike running my hope is to start saving on my bus ๐Ÿš fare too.

The sunset is in the west-northwest (289°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:48 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 4 seconds with dusk around 8:18 pm, which is one minute and 9 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the First Quarter ๐ŸŒ“ Moon in the west-southwest (255°) at an altitude of 56° from the horizon, 250,541 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:55 pm. At sunset, look for partly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 51 degrees. There will be a northwest breeze at 6 mph. Today will have 13 hours and 52 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 38 seconds over yesterday.

The lock ๐Ÿ”’ on my door ๐Ÿšช has been acting up again but I found another key ๐Ÿ— and seemed to free it up. I’ll have to see if I have some lock grease around or I’ll have to call the landlord. I think things corroded up a bit from the heavy rain over the weekend.

Tonight will be partly cloudy ๐ŸŒค, with a low of 35 degrees at 3am. Six degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 11th. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. In 2022, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became light rain by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 46 degrees. The record low of 24 occurred back in 1972.

Weekend still looks cloudy, cool and wet. ๐ŸŒง๏ธ Saturday, a chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 60. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Sunday, showers likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 59. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Typical average high for the weekend is 66 degrees. Yes, I am sticking in town I think.

Looking ahead, there are 8 weeks until Primary Day ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ when the sun will be setting at 8:38 pm with dusk at 9:11 pm. On that day in 2022, we had mostly sunny and temperatures between 82 and 47 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 81 degrees. We hit a record high of 97 back in 1953.

Checking Me Out

April 22, 2023 Morning

Good morning! Happy Earth Day. ๐Ÿšœ

I am sure with the warmer weather, lots of spring tillage and manuring of the earth is going on. Certainly they were hauling tank loads of manure slurry when I did my walk last week up to Bennett Hill. Got to get the Earth ready for the upcoming planting season.

It’s damp and cloudy and 50 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ There is a south-southeast breeze at 13 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The skies will clear tomorrow around 11 pm. Not the greatest morning ever but less wet then yesterday.

Out walking at 6:45 AM today. ๐Ÿƒ‍โ™€๏ธ Less early then usual, but it’s a Saturday and I’m moving slowly. But I don’t have a lot to do on a schedule though a busy day planned around home. I thought about doing one of those Earth Day Clean Ups but I’m not filling really ambitious or civil minded these days. I’d rather focus on my own health and life rather then saving the world.

This morning going to have a treat — pancakes with blueberries. ๐Ÿฅž I don’t have pancakes every day, or even that often due to the high amounts of carbohydrates, but I have some pancake mix leftover and I will mix with slow oaks and bananas to help improve the health value, then a little bit of butter and syrup and blueberries to top it off. It will be a nice breakfast.

Today will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a high of 68 degrees at 3pm. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 4th. Maximum dew point of 50 at 5pm. Southeast wind 13 to 17 mph. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 60 degrees. The record high of 86 was set in 1985. 1 inches of snow fell back in 1928.โ„

I have a number of projects to work on today. โš™Still trying to pull the gear cassette off my bike. I have the spoke key and gear puller tool but so far I’ve not had a lot of luck. I did figure out that I can use it with my truck’s tire iron which gives me more leverage but I’m struggling. I wish I had gotten a little bit better quality tool for the job, though I think I’m getting closer now that I discovered it fits my tire iron which offers far more leverage to break it loose. Spoke key works great, I pulled loose a spoke but until I get the gear casette off I can’t pull any spokes. Ultimately if I can’t get the gear off, I’ll have to take it to the shop for the spoke replacement, but I really want to learn to do it myself, and if that involves buying additional parts or tools, I’m up for it. I want to be able to fully maintain the bike myself. Youtube is a great resource for learning. ๐Ÿ“บ

Then I want to paint some of the rust damage on the truck. ๐Ÿšš Trying to paint off some of the rust on the floor boards of the truck. I wanted to do that last week but I was busy walking and then Sunday visiting Mr. Wolcott and the parents. The weather looks good for painting but I a bit windy. Then probably go out to Five Rivers for the afternoon into the evening. ๐Ÿธ Probably leave a bit after 2 PM, after my the truck is done painting and I’m done with lunch.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:55 pm with sun having an altitude of 59.5° from the due south horizon (-11.3° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 3.5 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:07 pm with the sun in the west (281°). ๐Ÿ“ธ

Yesterday, I walked 11.5 miles which isn’t bad for the work day. ๐Ÿฐ Most of it was down in the park. It’s good to get a lot of steps in. I don’t know if I’ll do that many today, but there is  a good change I’ll at least get in 10 miles, especially if I go to Five Rivers for the afternoon into the evening.

The sunset is in the west-northwest (288°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:45 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 2 seconds with dusk around 8:14 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Crescent ๐ŸŒ’ Moon in the west (278°) at an altitude of 27° from the horizon, 243,905 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:51 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 63 degrees. The dew point will be 50 degrees. Breezy, 22 mph breeze โ›… from the southeast with gusts up to 32mph. Today will have 13 hours and 44 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 40 seconds over yesterday.

I got a card reader for my phone, so now if I take photos with my stand alone camera, I can process them with my phone ๐Ÿ“ฒ including uploading them to the blog. One issue I noticed is that my phone doesn’t like the upper case JPG extension on photos, which also is probably true with the blog, but I found an app for bulk renaming photos on my phone.

Tonight will have showers, mainly after midnight. ๐ŸŒง Low of 52 degrees at 6am. 10 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 20th. Breezy, with a southeast wind 17 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible. In 2022, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 34 degrees. The record low of 26 occurred back in 1975.

I was very tired and fried after the week that was. ๐Ÿ˜ซ Feeling better today but Friday was a day that alternated from super busy to super dead, and until the end of the day I didn’t know how much I would have to work. It turned out to be a quiet weekend, which is good because I have those various projects to do.

Looking ahead, there are 9 weeks until Latest Sunset ๐ŸŒ† when the sun will be setting at 8:38 pm with dusk at 9:12 pm. On that day in 2022, we had partly cloudy and temperatures between 86 and 61 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 82 degrees. We hit a record high of 96 back in 1943.

Very Low Tide on Hudson River

April 21, 2023 Morning

Good morning! Yeah, it’s Friday! ๐ŸŒ…

Through the haze you can see the weekend or maybe not. It’s a Friday and I’m out and moving forward.

Partly cloudy and 45 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ›… There is a east-northeast breeze at 5 mph. ๐Ÿƒ.

Kind of a cool start to the morning but that’s true be expected for April. We were so spoiled last week. Going to be fairly mild by midday. ๐Ÿ•› Little slow rising out of bed ๐Ÿ› but I always build in extra time by setting my alarm clock a few minutes early. โฐ

Today will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 75 degrees at 4pm. 13 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 28th. Maximum dew point of 46 at 2pm. Yeah, not a good weekend to get out of town. ๐Ÿšฒ I have the tools to remove the cassette and spokes from my bike so I can measure them and order a box of replacements. ๐Ÿ“ฆ I will replace any that are broken. Once the wheel is true, I just need to repair the rear derailleur cable and I’ll be back on the road. With the additional parts and repair skills ๐Ÿ”ง my hope is to keep the bike running strong for a long time and doing a lot of commuting and traveling around town with the bike, saving on bus fares and fuel.

Always looking ahead, there are 2 weeks until Cinco de Mayo ๐Ÿค  when the sun will be setting at 8:01 pm with dusk at 8:30 pm. I was thinking a good burrito ๐ŸŒฏ would be good with lots of beer ๐Ÿป but those days are over in my life. Although maybe I could make an exception or find a way to make it more nutritious like with chicken and lots of vegetables.
