July 12, 2021 Morning

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. Rain and 67 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜” Calm wind. The dew point is 65 degrees. I drove back home in the rain this morning, as it was pretty wet up camping along Hope Falls Road.

I was going to do Piseco-Powely Road ๐Ÿ• but on my way up there decided on Pumpkin Hollow Road, but the sites are no longer officially designated, and I didn’t want to get drunk and then get yelled at up and told I had to camp somewhere else. Not that it was likely to happen, but the bugs seemed particularly bad on Pumpkin Hollow, so plans changed. ๐ŸŽƒ I was hoping to camp on that recently restored site on Creek Road, but that was taken. So I ended up camping on site on Hope Falls Road, the one nearest to parking area for Tenant Creek Falls, ๐ŸŒŠ and hiking back to the falls a couple of times during the weekend and then also hiking to Wilcox Lake..

Today will rain before noon, then a chance of showers, mainly between noon and 5pm. Cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a high of 73 degrees at 3pm. 11 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 23rd. Maximum dew point of 69 at 2pm. Light north wind. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. It was somewhat humid. The high last year was 90 degrees. The record high of 96 was set in 1935.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 1:02 pm with sun having an altitude of 69.3° from the due south horizon (-1.5° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.3 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:52 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (294°). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (301°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:34 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 23 seconds with dusk around 9:07 pm, which is 32 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Crescent ๐ŸŒ’ Moon in the west (280°) at an altitude of 16° from the horizon, 238,791 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:51 pm. At sunset, watch for thunderstorms ๐ŸŒฉ and temperatures around 72 degrees. The dew point will be 68 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 15 hours and 4 minutes of daytime, a decrease of one minute and 19 seconds over yesterday.

This evening I need to run to store and get a few supplies, ๐Ÿ‘œ including toilet paper and some food. ๐Ÿšฝ I also said I would swing over to a friend’s house and help them with a project in Glenmont. I think I also want to clean off some of the mud from the truck to hopefully slow the rust. I really need to paint those few rust spots that are bare metal these days before winter.

Tonight will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 7pm. Cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 66 degrees at 6am. Three degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 68 at 6pm. Light southeast wind. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. In 2020, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It was somewhat humid. It got down to 68 degrees. The record low of 45 occurred back in 1939.

On this day in 1967, the Newark Riots begin with over six days of rioting, looting, and destruction leaving 26 dead. ๐Ÿคฏ There have been some crazy times lately but nothing like the late 1960s.

Hot this weekend, possibly with thunderstorms. ๐ŸŒฉ Saturday, showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Partly sunny, with a high near 87. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Maximum dew point of 74 at 12pm. Sunday, a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 83. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Maximum dew point of 70 at 11am. Typical average high for the weekend is 84 degrees.

I think it’s a wait and see for the weekend. ๐ŸŠ‍โ™€๏ธ I am toying with the idea of going out to Schoharie County, but a lot depends on the weather. I might take off Friday or might not. If it’s going to be hot out Friday, I could spend it at Mine Kill State Park Pool. I might meet a friend out there in Schoharie County. Not sure though. It would be nice to hit up the farm stands, do some fishing and camp up in Burnt Rossman. ๐Ÿ• But who knows, in a week from now, it will be summer vacation.

One month ๐Ÿ“… from now will be Last Sunset After 8 PM ๐ŸŒ† when the sun will be setting at 8:01 pm with dusk at 8:31 pm.

July 3, 2021 Morning

Good morning! Happy Saturday. Finally the weekend! Three weeks to Strugeon Moon ๐ŸŒ• . Cloudy, rain showers and 57 degrees at the John Boyd Thacher State Park. โ˜๏ธ Calm wind. The dew point is 56 degrees. The skies will clear tomorrow around 11 am.

Not a super nice day but the Nature Bus ๐Ÿš is free and I wanted to get out of Delmar today for a few hours to do some hiking, nature observation and reading ๐Ÿ“–. If we get some rain, I figure there is always the patio I can wait out the rain showers with. ๐Ÿ’ง It doesn’t look like all day rain โ˜” but especially up north it would have been a rather miserable day. โ˜๏ธ Why stay home if you can catch a free bus to Thacher Park though?

Today will have a chance of showers. Cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 61 degrees at 6pm. 22 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 19th. Maximum dew point of 56 at 11am. Light north wind. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. It was very sticky. The high last year was 83 degrees. The record high of 102 was set in 1911.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 1:01 pm with sun having an altitude of 70.3ยฐ from the due south horizon (-0.5ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.2 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:55 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (296ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (303ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:38 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 27 seconds with dusk around 9:12 pm, which is 13 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:58 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 58 degrees. The dew point will be 55 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 15 hours and 14 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 48 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a chance of showers. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 54 degrees at 4am. Eight degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around June 5th. Maximum dew point of 56 at 6pm. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2020, we had thunderstorm in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It was sticky. It got down to 65 degrees. The record low of 44 occurred back in 1971.

Yesterday I got a stack of books ๐Ÿ“š out of the library, it’s nice that things are pretty much back to normal at the library – I can go down there and work inside the air conditioned library any of the normal times ๐Ÿ˜Ž and get my own books by browsing. I guess during the later part of the pandemic ๐Ÿ˜ท if you masked up you were allowed to browse books but they had all these requirements for masking and it wasn’t like you could sit down or dilly daly. Brought a personal book ๐Ÿ“™ from home to read up at the park, as I didn’t want to risk getting a library book wet should it rain. ๐ŸŒง๏ธ

On this day in 1886, the New-York Tribune becomes the first newspaper to use a linotype machine, ๐Ÿ–ฅ eliminating typesetting by hand. ๐Ÿ“ฐ That was certainly good news for newspapers and I guess it reduced the price of typesetting any kind of book although computers are vastly better. ๐Ÿ“™

I am starting to regret a bit my decision to cut my phone plan back, ๐Ÿ“ฑ but I felt like I spent too much time playing on my phone, watching stupid YouTube of rednecks doing redneck shit. ๐Ÿ”ซ ๐Ÿ”ฅ ๐Ÿšœ I also felt like I didn’t need the hot spot working more in the office these days as remote work ๐Ÿ’ป winds down. The smaller plan starts right before vacation and runs until August 20th and it’s irreversible at this point as it’s paid. ๐Ÿ“– But I want to read more books and stay off the internet more – or at least limit my personal internet use primarily to hours when I’m down at the library.

As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until Strugeon Moon ๐ŸŒ• when the sun will be setting at 8:24 pm with dusk at 8:57 pm. On that day in 2020, we had humid, partly sunny and temperatures between 82 and 65 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 84 degrees. We hit a record high of 96 back in 1941.

June 26, 2021 10 AM Update

Good morning! Happy Saturday. Finally the weekend! Four weeks to Strugeon Moon ๐ŸŒ• . Partly cloudy and 74 degrees at the Five Rivers Environmental Education Center. ๐ŸŒฅ There is a south breeze at 15 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 67 degrees. The skies will clear around 8 pm.

Hot day with the humidity ๐Ÿ˜ฐ although truth be told, tomorrow will be even hotter. Waiting for the bus ๐Ÿš up to Thacher Park after walking ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป out to Five Rivers. ๐Ÿฆ. ๐Ÿ˜ท Not wearing the mask much lately, I forgot it and had to run home. I can’t believe how hot it is out already.

Today will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a high of 84 degrees at 3pm. Two degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 67 at 10am. South wind 15 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 85 degrees. The record high of 99 was set in 1952.

The plan is to catch the next bus ๐Ÿš to Thacher Park ๐Ÿž and then go for a, walk ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป up to Thompsons Lake, swim and cool off ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ – already getting hot. Then back to Thacher Park and lay back in the hammock. A lot of people already at Five Rivers, I like the quiet – maybe it will be quieter ๐Ÿคซ in the evening when all the kids ๐Ÿ‘ง๐Ÿป go home for dinner. Probably do an evening walk there too.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:59 pm with sun having an altitude of 70.7ยฐ from the due south horizon (-0.1ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.1 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:55 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (297ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (304ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:38 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 28 seconds with dusk around 9:12 pm, which is 2 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:58 pm. At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies ๐ŸŒƒ and temperatures around 77 degrees. The dew point will be 67 degrees. There will be a south breeze at 13 mph. Today will have 15 hours and 17 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 21 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 71 degrees at 4am. 10 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 68 at 11pm. South wind 10 to 13 mph. In 2020, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became light rain by the early hours of the morning. It became somewhat humid as the night progressed. It got down to 61 degrees. The record low of 45 occurred back in 1970.

I suspect that this will be a tough night for sleeping ๐Ÿ˜ด so I’ll have to use the fan although Sunday and Monday will worse. I might end up going to the office ๐Ÿข the first half of the week just to beat the heat and get more in person hours in to keep the other directors happy ๐Ÿ˜Š. So much pressure to get people back in the office now that COVID is over ๐Ÿ˜ท ๐Ÿ‘พ ๐Ÿ’‰ but the thing is everybody likes remote work ๐Ÿ’ป and things are getting done whether it’s from camp or a bedroom. ๐Ÿ‘‚๐Ÿป It falls on deaf ears.

Last night was cooler ๐Ÿ˜Ž but I still needed the fan. โš› I was out at the Town Park last night watching the wildlife and noticing that the deer ๐ŸฆŒ already starting to get good sized numbs as their antlers grow in. Autumn is rapidly approaching. All the farms are cutting hay ๐ŸŒพ, you can smell the manure being applied to the fields now as the first cutting get racked and baled.

On this day in 1963, U.S. President John F. Kennedy gave his “Ich bin ein Berliner” speech, ๐ŸŽค underlining the support of the United States for democratic West Germany shortly after Soviet-supported East Germany erected the Berlin Wall. ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช Also, The Universal Product Code is scanned for the first time in 1974 to sell a package of Wrigley’s chewing gum at the Marsh Supermarket in Troy, Ohio. ๐Ÿฌ

Yesterday was my counseling session and it went well, ๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿปโ€โš•๏ธand I was feeling great after it until I realized how it was kind of a bummer. I really don’t like how my counselor keeps telling me that my problems are silly, and that because I’m not doing anything likely to cause significant harm โš  I shouldn’t worry so much about my pyromanania. ๐Ÿ”ฅ You want to move out to the country, have a burn barrel ๐Ÿ›ข, livestock ๐Ÿฎ, four wheelers ๐Ÿ๏ธand lots of guns ๐Ÿ”ซ more power to you. Liking fire or being a conservative doesn’t make you mentally ill. Not harming any one, if your safe and not smoking out your neighbors.

I guess he’s right but I wanted to be pressured to have my views challenged and change. ๐Ÿ’ญ I guess ethically he can’t tell me to be an urban liberal Democrat who drives a Prisus, ๐Ÿš˜ doesn’t eat meat ๐Ÿฅฉ, advocates for gun control ๐Ÿ”ซ, and recycles rather than burns his garbage โ™ป. I so wanted to be told I was terribly wrong, but I guess that’s not what a he can do. But I wish he would listen to me more and talk less. ๐Ÿ”• While I get that I’m paying for his advice I also feel that he should listen more and talk less.

He seems to want to move on to discussing my sometimes contrarian attitude ๐Ÿ™„ but at this point I don’t know how much farther I want to continue. I’m $125 in the hole ๐Ÿ•ณ with co-pay now, and I feel like I’ve discussed all my deepist secrets. ๐Ÿคซ I’ve learned some things, reevaluated parts of my life. ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€๐ŸŒพ Started to think about girl friends and settling down a bit. I’ve learned additional techniques to deal with my anxiety ๐Ÿ˜ฏ and as winter became summer. ๐Ÿ– I think I want to cancel my next session and reevaluate come autumn although I’ve scheduled an appointment a week from Friday but I could cancel as I’d rather be in the Adirondacks.

Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until Strugeon Moon ๐ŸŒ• when the sun will be setting at 8:24 pm with dusk at 8:56 pm. On that day in 2020, we had humid, partly sunny and temperatures between 82 and 65 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 84 degrees. We hit a record high of 96 back in 1941.

June 24, 2021 Morning

Good morning! Happy Strawberry Moon! ๐Ÿ“ ๐ŸŒ• It pretty brilliant last night. I had strawberries on my pancakes this morning to celebrate. ๐Ÿฅž I wonder if I can find wild strawberries in the fields. They are so good too. Next Thursday is July ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿฟ. Mine Kill pool opens then. Sunny and 55 degrees out walking past the Bethlehem Central High School. ๐ŸŒž Calm wind. The dew point is 49 degrees. A bit warmer then yesterday, although not much.

Out for my morning walk ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป and it’s a nice one with the sun โ˜€ warming things up quickly. Running a few minutes late as I was a bit tardy getting out of bed ๐Ÿ› looking at blog stuff and Tiktok, rather than getting out of bed and walking ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป. But the coffee is brewing now โ˜• and I am throwing together a quick lunch. ๐Ÿšฟ I will shower shortly after my pancakes ๐Ÿฅž are done. Seeing how tight I can run my morning and still make the bus in time for work. ๐ŸšŒ Still limited service in the morning and rush hour, no express buses.

Today will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 79 degrees at 3pm. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around June 15th. Maximum dew point of 52 at 10am. Light south wind increasing to 5 to 9 mph in the morning. Should be a nice summer day. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 85 degrees. The record high of 96 was set in 1943.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:59 pm with sun having an altitude of 70.8° from the due south horizon (-0° vs. 6/21). The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:55 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (297°). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (304°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:38 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 28 seconds with dusk around 9:12 pm, which is 7 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Full ๐ŸŒ Moon in the southeast (127°) at an altitude of 1° from the horizon, 228,908 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:58 pm. At sunset, look for clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 71 degrees. The dew point will be 51 degrees. There will be a south breeze at 7 mph. Today will have 15 hours and 18 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 12 seconds over yesterday.

My neighbors have this gas fire pit ๐Ÿ”ฅ that they have on the deck which somehow worries me but I guess being gas it’s relatively safe as there isn’t firebrands or sparks coming off it. โœจ But while I’m a fire bug ๐Ÿ› I am so careful with fire and would never have anything like that near my house.

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 51 degrees at 3am. Nine degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 26th. Maximum dew point of 51 at 8pm. South wind 3 to 7 mph. In 2020, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 57 degrees. The record low of 45 occurred back in 1982.

The weekend looks like a summer weekend. ๐Ÿ– Saturday, a slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 84. South wind 8 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. Maximum dew point of 67 at 11am. Sunday, partly sunny, with a high near 88. Maximum dew point of 69 at 8am. It will be muggy for sure but fairly seasonable. Typical average high for the weekend is 82 degrees.

Looking forward to the weekend and catching the Nature Bus ๐Ÿฆ up to Thacher Park. While I could certainly drive there, it’s just kind of more of an adventure to take bus ๐Ÿš plus then you can enjoy the scenery and not have to worry about parking ๐Ÿ…ฟ and speed traps. Pack a lunch ๐Ÿฅช, water ๐Ÿ’ฆ, bathing suit if I walk to Thompsons Lake, ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿป‍โ™‚๏ธ book to read ๐Ÿ“– and an extra battery ๐Ÿ”‹ for the phone. Maybe binoculars and the camera too. ๐Ÿ“ธ

As previously noted, next Thursday is July ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿฟ when the sun will be setting at 8:37 pm with dusk at 9:11 pm. On that day in 2020, we had partly sunny, shallow fog and temperatures between 83 and 64 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 83 degrees. We hit a record high of 99 back in 1913.

June 23, 2021 Morning

Good morning! What day is it? Hump Day, of course. ๐Ÿช Three weeks to National Nude Day ๐Ÿ‘ฑ. Skinny dipping after dark on a hot day is fun. Sunny and 49 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒž Calm wind. Chilly start to the morning but pleasant. I bet is chilly up north in the Adirondacks this morning.

After a cool and gray Tuesday, ๐ŸŒฅ the sun is back out but another rather cool day. It looks like they are saving the heat for the weekend. They are cleaning up the tree that fell on Monday on the bike path. ๐Ÿšฒ๐ŸŽ„ That thunderstorm wasn’t bad but it knocked down that one tree. Odd.

I ran to Wally World for groceries ๐Ÿ›’ and should be good until some time next week when I’ll probably want additional supplies so I have things for lunch and my Independence Day Weekend trip. I forgot to get butter, I might get it when I run out for the therapist on Friday.

I noticed that the battery relay wasn’t connecting automatically when I was driving yesterday to the store ๐Ÿ”‹. I thought my patch to the exciter wire was bad but I forgot I had pulled off one of the terminals of a control switch to test things. I replugged in the connector, and things were perfect. I should be good if I head out of town next week for remote work then camping, wherever I decide to go. I was really annoyed when I had problems last weekend, because I thought I had fully mastered the technology and it worked flawless until it stopped working so well.

I was having a pretty good morning, โ˜บ until I read the news ๐Ÿ“ฐ about the socialists taking Buffalo but hopefully it’s an oddity and the trend won’t continue. But I’m also ready for a change, even if it’s forced and not exactly how on paper I want it to go down. But I can’t control my day, I can control my attitude. ๐Ÿคฌ

Today will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 72 degrees at 4pm. Nine degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 19th. Maximum dew point of 48 at 8am. Calm wind becoming northwest 5 to 7 mph in the morning. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. It was humid. The high last year was 93 degrees. The record high of 96 was set in 1888.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:58 pm with sun having an altitude of 70.8° from the due south horizon (-0° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.1 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:55 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (297°). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (304°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:38 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 28 seconds with dusk around 9:12 pm, which is 9 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Full ๐ŸŒ Moon in the southeast (138°) at an altitude of 10° from the horizon, 227,407 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:58 pm. At sunset, look for clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 67 degrees. The dew point will be 49 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 15 hours and 18 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 8 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 50 degrees at 5am. 10 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 23rd. Calm wind. In 2020, we had mostly clear skies. It was somewhat humid. It got down to 65 degrees. The record low of 44 occurred back in 1932. Nice sleeping weather.

The weekend looks to be hot and sticky. ๐Ÿ˜ฐ Saturday, partly sunny, with a high near 85. Maximum dew point of 67 at 8pm. ๐ŸŒž Sunday, a chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 2pm. โ›ˆ Partly sunny, with a high near 87. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Maximum dew point of 70 at 10am. Typical average high for the weekend is 82 degrees.

The plan remains the same. ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป Walk out to Five Rivers early Saturday morning, take the bus to Thacher Park and then walk up to Thompson Lake for a swim ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿป‍โ™‚๏ธ and then back to Thacher Park to read and enjoy the balance of day. Wear a lot of sunscreen and stay out of the high grass because the ticks are bad up at Thacher Park. A nice quiet, fossil free Saturday. โ˜บ Next independence weekend Spectulator to upper Piseco-Powley Road I’m thinking. Or Schoharie back country.

One of my long time colleagues was pointing out the benefits to getting a GIS certification. ๐Ÿ—บ Maybe that’s something I should look at in the future. I mean I don’t know if I will be working for state forever, although one of my concerns is that technology seems to be changing so quickly as computer power grows. I’ve thought about that and also maybe getting a CDL, although I have to say map making probably pays a lot better, and there is so much information you can get from map data.

As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until National Nude Day ๐Ÿ‘ฑ when the sun will be setting at 8:31 pm with dusk at 9:05 pm. On that day in 2020, we had mostly sunny, thunderstorm and temperatures between 84 and 67 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 84 degrees. We hit a record high of 99 back in 1995.

 Taconics

June 22, 2021 Morning

Good morning! Happy Tuesday, Primary Day. At least in the big cities, there are no primaries locally in Bethlehem at least. All of the polling places are closed, confirming what I already knew. Four weeks to Ugly Truck Day ๐Ÿšš. Rain and 63 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜” There is a northwest breeze at 7 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 58 degrees. The skies will clear around 8 pm.

I was thinking it was one year ago today, ๐Ÿ• ๐Ÿ‘จ‍๐Ÿ’ป that I was camping and doing remote work from Horsehoe Lake and Lows Lake in the Adirondacks. What a blast for sure, it was pretty wild. I don’t know why I haven’t done that again, although part of issue is that there is really only one campsite and also down by the lake that has really good internet up there, and it’s a long ways north — plus I kind of got busy doing other things with more in-person sessions in Albany. ๐ŸŽ‘ Those photos I took from Lows Ledge though a pretty amazing. Maybe I should do a real vacation up in Horseshoe again this year, and maybe even tent camp on Lows Lake. ๐Ÿ˜Ž A bit of a trip but it’s nice.

I didn’t get a real early start this morning with the clouds, ๐ŸŒฆ which meant by the time I was out walking, the rain was coming down. Really picked up about the time I got home, but that’s fine I got milk ๐Ÿฎ to and are taking a shower shortly. ๐Ÿšฟ The good news is today is a lot less humid then yesterday – it was really a dog day yesterday. ๐Ÿถ

I worked from home yesterday, ๐Ÿ˜… mainly because I didn’t want to face masking up in the heat and going into the air conditioned office. I put the big box fan right on me โ˜ข and worked at my computer for a while before laying back in bed with the fan and following email and hopping up to make calls. โ˜Ž๏ธ It really wasn’t a pleasant day, and I skipped my evening walk because it was so humid and nasty out. Just moving a lot made you sweat like a pig. ๐Ÿท I kind of wish I found a way to work from the Adirondacks yesterday, although it was pretty wet up there in Speculator yesterday, so I would have been huddled in my truck, trying to stay out of the rain.

Today will have showers likely, mainly before 1pm. Cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 67 degrees at 4pm. 14 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 3rd. Maximum dew point of 58 at 8am. Northwest wind 7 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. It was somewhat humid. The high last year was 95 degrees. The record high of 95 was set in 1954.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:58 pm with sun having an altitude of 70.8° from the due south horizon (-0° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.1 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. I was glad I was able to quickly fix the bum connection ๐Ÿ”‹ on the exciter wire to main battery relay. It turned out it was the just the butt connector that I noticed was loose was bad, as soon as I cut it and found voltage, โœ‚๏ธ I was able to patch the cable together with a new butt connector as I left extra wire slack, and things were working again. โšก

I am thinking Saturday, catch the Nature Bus ๐ŸšŒ to Thacher Park, hike up to Thompson Lake, go for a brief swim, ๐ŸŠ‍โ™€๏ธ do some nature observation, ๐Ÿฆ and then head back to Thacher Park and do some reading. Also, going to bring may back up battery for my phone ๐Ÿ”‹, so I don’t have to worry about charge, especially if I end up sitting by the escarpment doing some blogging or even watching a Youtube. ๐Ÿ“ฑ I figure it will be cool by escarpment. The following weekend — Independence Day Weekend — it will either be to the Adirondacks or maybe Schoharie backcountry to camp. But it might rain. Who knows. I do want to do a long weekend at the Potholers once it gets hot out again. ๐Ÿ˜Ž
