Good evening! Clear and 48 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a west breeze at 5 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Nice evening but I’m tired ๐Ÿ˜ด achy and sore. ๐Ÿ˜ซ I think it might be a cold or maybe it’s a sinus infection. Almost a bit flu like. I think part of it is I’m sleep deprived and all the time I’ve spent sleeping in my truck bed. Maybe I’m just seriously sleep deprived, I’ve had similar sickness before.

On that note, I did get my flu shot ๐Ÿ’‰ tonight on the way to the Guilderland Planning Board Meeting. It was quick in an out but another driver kind of blocked me in but using a lot of due care I was able to get out. ๐Ÿ…ฟ Lots of small swings and checking the mirrors. โฌ› I was worried about bumping another car but I knew if it was too tight I’d just have to wait. But I got out. Flu shot was quick and easy, didn’t sting a bit or make my arm ๐Ÿ™‹ num like some years. I’m not blaming my achiness or sinuses on the flu shot as it was there before and I really wanted to get it done tonight. I’ve heard stories about people actually getting the flu and it’s no joke ๐Ÿƒ – two weeks bedridden feeling like your going to die.

I had no food at home, I ended up cracking open a rusty can of chicken noodles soup with canned potatoes added ๐Ÿ›and then I wanted something to dip in it so I ended up using corn bread ๐Ÿž muffin mix in the waffle maker as I didn’t have time to bake even corn bread cupcake in the conventional oven. Worked out fine.

The planning board was everything I expected it to be. ๐Ÿซ They are moving forward on the DEIS and the plan. We’re continuing to work on our response. It is what is to be expected. Pines, probably pitch pine smelled wonderful in front of the Guilderland Town Hall.

Tonight will be clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 39 degrees at 5am. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 18th. West wind around 5 mph becoming south after midnight. I’m glad I’m back home ๐Ÿก and can leave Big Red Parked for a few days. He needs a break. ๐Ÿš˜ As much as I like being out in the country ๐Ÿฎ commuting a so stressful and such a time waste. I’d rather walk ๐Ÿšถ or take a bus ๐Ÿš where I need to go as bus time let’s me think ๐Ÿ’ญ and use my phone.

Tomorrow will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 65 degrees at 3pm. Eight degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around October 4th. South wind 6 to 10 mph. Mount Storm

October 22, 2019 Night

Good evening! Light rain and 52 degrees in Dormansville, NY. โ˜” It’s a soft drizzle on my truck cap roof. There is a south-southeast breeze at 7 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 50 degrees. The skies will clear tomorrow around 7 am – daybreak. Last night camping in the truck for a while – I think it’s increasingly unlikely I’ll head out of town this weekend. Warm and dry in here, it’s a pretty mild night.

I looked at the weekend forecast โ˜” and I don’t think it looks good for heading out of town. Friday looks cloudy and damp and while Saturday is fine, Sunday looks like rain starting in the morning. But I think I’d rather spend time at home ๐Ÿก doing some cleaning, trying to get of the musty smell and maybe fixing the leaky sink drain pipe. I could call the landlord but I don’t think it’s a big deal.

It’s been a long week every night ๐ŸŒƒ driving out to the folks house after work and sleeping ๐Ÿ˜ด in my truck. It’s fine but I miss my real bed. I also have some electronics projects that I want to work on and John Wolcott has been trying to get me to come back over to work on his history project. Plus Monday is kind of a big transition at work for me so I want to be well rested for that.

Tonight will have showers. Patchy fog after 4am. ๐ŸŒง Low of 48 degrees at 6am. 10 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around September 27th. Southeast wind 5 to 7 mph becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. In 2018, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 42 degrees. The record low of 20 occurred back in 1969.

The Beaver Moon ๐ŸŒ is on Monday, November 11th. The sun will rise at 7:17 am with the first light at 6:48 am, which is one minute and 12 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ Tonight will have 13 hours and 14 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 44 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have a chance of showers before 8am. Patchy fog before 7am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 58 degrees at 2pm. One degree above normal, which is similar to a typical day around October 21st. Maximum dew point of 47 at 6am. West wind 8 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 59 degrees. The record high of 81 was set in 1947. 0.5 inches of snow fell back in 2002.โ„

When I got out to my parents house, I watched some YouTube videos ๐Ÿ“น and worked on some code. It was raining to hard to go for a walk. ๐Ÿšถ I look forward to being back home once again and either taking the bus or walking around town to where I need to go.

I am definitely hoping we still have a few more weeks until snow โ›„. Sure it can happen any time now but usually we don’t get much snow until after Thanksgiving and sometimes not until January so I can get out in the backwoods with Big Red.

Not going to replace my phone ๐Ÿ“ฑ yet but it’s definitely on my radar when my phone finally stops charging or working for good. Having found my Bluetooth headphones ๐ŸŽง and having decent luck with other charging cables I’m happy with things as they are.

In four weeks on November 19 the sun will be setting at 4:30 pm (Standard Time),๐ŸŒ„ which is one hour, 32 minutes and 57 seconds earlier then tonight. October 21, 2019 Night

Good evening! Mostly clear and 46 degrees in Dormansville, NY. Calm wind. A really nice evening for mid-to-late October, sitting out back next to the firepit in my parents backyard. Last night I think I’ll be camping out back here, because they return on Wednesday night, and I won’t be making the trip back and forth to house-sit anymore.๐Ÿ”ฅ

Made a nice big pot of pasta and sauce up with lots of veggies and delicious filling stuff.๐Ÿฒ Nice dinner out the fire, and then I cracked open a few beers.๐Ÿป Not going to stay up too late though as lately I’ve been sleep deprived and that makes me miserable come morning. Did a little blogging on my phone, and then went for a night hike around the path — about a mile total with the dog ๐Ÿถ — before deciding it was late and time to settle in for the night.

Tonight will have patchy fog after midnight. Otherwise, partly cloudy ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 40 degrees at 5am. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 15th. Light southeast wind. In 2018, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 36 degrees. The record low of 20 occurred back in 1959.

Tonight will have a Waning Crescent Moon ๐ŸŒ˜ with 32% illuminated with the moon rising at 12:12 am. The moon will rise at 1:00 am. The New Moon is on Saturday night with mostly clear skies. The Beaver Moon ๐ŸŒ is in 3 weeks. The sun will rise at 7:15 am with the first light at 6:47 am, which is one minute and 11 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ Tonight will have 13 hours and 11 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 44 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have a chance of showers, mainly after 3pm. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 54 degrees at 3pm. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around October 30th. Maximum dew point of 49 at 4pm. Southeast wind 7 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 48 degrees. The record high of 86 was set in 1979. There was a dusting of snow in 2005.โ„

I plan to take down camp in the morning, so I have time to clean up here, and in the house, ๐Ÿ• prior to the parents returning. I don’t want to chew up the lawn or cause any more compaction by my truck running over it, and tomorrow is expected to be quite rainy.๐ŸŒง Grass compaction is bad enough,๐ŸŒพcertainly don’t want ruts in my parents lawn. That’s why I want to get to be shortly, so I have time in the morning to take things down.๐Ÿ—

Forgetting my bluetooth headphones and dealing with my broken headphone port ๐ŸŽง got me thinking more about replacing my cellphone.๐Ÿ“ฑ The current model I have is just getting about 2 or going on 3 years old, doesn’t have a lot of memory and at times the charging port refuses to charge the phone, especially when I’m driving because it’s loose. Annoying when you phone doesn’t have a charge and you can use Waze or any other app to figure out where you are going. I was looking — a similiar tracphone to what I have — with a better camera and more internal memory, so I can once again install more apps, especially the full version of Facebook. It might also be nice to have a better camera phone. Only $40 but I’d also have to get a case, and I don’t want to throw away something that still works. I guess though you can return phones now for recycling — I should do that with the drawer full of them I have at home.โ™ป

In four weeks on November 18 the sun will be setting at 4:31 pm (Standard Time),๐ŸŒ„ which is one hour, 33 minutes and 41 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2018 on that day, we had snow showers, mostly cloudy and temperatures between 37 and 30 degrees. Days are so much shorter when you get to around Thanksgiving — it’s pitch black out by 5 PM — at least around here, less so further west in he state. Typically, you have temperatures between 47 and 31 degrees. The record high of 71 degrees was set back in 1928.

 Raggedy Old Steer

October 20, 2019 Night

Good evening! Partly cloudy with some fog ๐ŸŒ around but you can partially see the stars and 44 degrees in Dormansville, NY. โ›… Calm wind. Temperatures will drop below freezing at around 4 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Today was a pretty quiet day at my parents house. ๐Ÿ“– I stayed there with the dog ๐Ÿถ taking him out for a walk that totalled 1 1/2 miles. I didn’t mind the walk but he’s gotten very elderly and he was out back most of the day, sitting back next to the heater. He got a little too close to the heater and I started to smell dog hair burning but besides a little patch of sinenged hair he’s fine.

It rained โ˜” a lot more this afternoon than expected and I ended up heading inside with my laptop, researching and processing some new data for the blog. I haven’t made many Google Maps in a while and I’m still going through videos from vacation. ๐ŸŽฅ There is a lot of government data out there for making maps and charts ๐Ÿ“Š if you know where to look for it.

Knowing where to find government data ๐Ÿค not only helps me make content for the blog, it is helpful reference sometimes for work and I think ta good experience and knowledge that could be useful for future career opportunities especially after I leave the state for good. The more you practice the better you get at it. That’s why I’ve gotten so good at map making.

Tonight will have patchy dense fog. Otherwise, mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒ, with a low of 40 degrees at 6am. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 15th. Tomorrow will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 59 degrees at 3pm. One degree above normal, which is similar to a typical day around October 19th. Maximum dew point of 48 at 3pm. North wind around 5 mph. It would have been nice to have such weather today. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 48 degrees. The record high of 81 was set in 1979. 0.2 inches of snow fell back in 1926.โ„

In four weeks on November 17 the sun will be setting at 4:32 pm (Standard Time),๐ŸŒ„ which is one hour, 34 minutes and 24 seconds earlier then tonight. I don’t know if I already want to think about that. ๐Ÿ˜” In 2018 on that day, we had cloudy, rain showers and temperatures between 44 and 37 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 47 and 31 degrees. The record high of 73 degrees was set back in 1928.

Maples Along Trail

October 19, 2019 Night

Good evening! Mostly clear and 36 degrees in Dormansville, NY. ๐ŸŒƒ Lots of stars above. Calm wind. I have a small fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ out back at my parents house, tiny compared to my neighbors fire and I’m sitting by the heater. It’s getting a bit chilly and I’m tired as I stayed up late last night so I don’t know how late I’ll stay up tonight. ๐Ÿถ Dog is snuggling close on this cold night.

Camping at my parents house remind me a lot of camping at one of the state forest campgrounds โ›บ, they’re usually not packed but it’s not the wilderness experience where you can listen to music as loud as you want ๐ŸŽถ, burn whatever suits you in a big ass fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ. Maybe next weekend depends on the weather. Looks though like it might be rainy โ˜” next weekend.

Tonight will have patchy frost after 4am. Otherwise, mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 35 degrees at 5am. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 31st. Calm wind. Not super cold for Dormansville this time of year. In 2018, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 46 degrees. The record low of 18 occurred back in 1972.

It was a nice day but a busy one. โ˜บ Hiking at Pebbles Island was fun as was the Pine Bush.๐Ÿ‚ Really good color in the Pine Bush and decent color in Pebbles Island. Walking for David Bissember was good too. Nice to have a busy Saturday, I think tomorrow will be fairly quiet as the forecast isn’t that great.๐ŸŒฆ

It was nice hiking at Peebles Island this afternoon, but it was crowded there and hardly a wilderness experience.๐ŸšฝWorst of all was I kind of had to go pee and the bathrooms were all locked — one is a seasonal bathroom and visitor center was cloesd on a Saturday. They really should have some kind of outhouse — maybe I should have walked over to Waterford to the canal center, but I was able to hold it until I got home.๐Ÿ™„

Tonight will have a Waning Gibbous Moon ๐ŸŒ– with 54% illuminated with the moon rising at 10:08 pm. The moon will set at 1:45 pm. The Last Quarter Moon will be tomorrow with partly cloudy skies. The Beaver Moon ๐ŸŒ is on Monday, November 11th. The sun will rise at 7:13 am with the first light at 6:45 am, which is one minute and 11 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ Tonight will have 13 hours and 6 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 45 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have a slight chance of rain between 11am and 3pm. Patchy frost before 9am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a high of 53 degrees at 2pm. Five degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around November 2nd. Calm wind becoming south around 6 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 62 degrees. The record high of 80 was set in 1965. There was a dusting of snow in 1952.

I’m not sure if I will end up going to the Catskills for a hike tomorrow if it looks like the skies will be gray. โ˜ I might just spend Sunday camping at my parents house while their on vacation. And maybe some rain?๐Ÿ’ฆ Hopefully not too much, I’d rather spend some more time outside then inside.

This evening I found an enormous tick on my stomach. ๐Ÿœ I pulled it with a tick key and hopefully it won’t become infected. I think I probably picked it up Friday night gathering wood for my fire out back at my parents house but it could be from the hike in the Pine Bush or the Pebbles Island State Park hike. Hopefully I won’t get Lyme.

The earliest models for next week don’t look real nice ๐Ÿ’ฆbut things could change. If the weather is nice I may take a long weekend to camp, hike and hunt. I’m thinking about Stoney Brook Campground in Morrisville / Nelson but I could consider the Adirondacks too. ๐Ÿ—ป A real campfire in the wilderness would be nice.

In four weeks on November 16 the sun will be setting at 4:33 pm (Standard Time),๐ŸŒ„ which is one hour, 35 minutes and 5 seconds earlier then tonight. It’s always very early with the sunset when the time changes. . In 2018 on that day, we had snow, mostly cloudy and temperatures between 40 and 26 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 48 and 32 degrees. The record high of 71 degrees was set back in 2006.

Longer nights in the wilderness ๐ŸŒฒmean I have to plan appropriately but with my bigger battery ๐Ÿ”‹ set up at the solar shouldn’t be bad and the heater should keep me warm ๐Ÿ”ฑ at night especially f I hot tent. Bed comes earlier in the winter earlier so I can enjoy the sunshine during the limited hours of day and it’s nice relaxing in a warm tent after being out in the cold.

Looking ahead, Small Business Saturday ๐Ÿ›๏ธ is in 6 weeks, First Day of Winter โ˜ƒ๏ธ is in 9 weeks, 4:30 PM Sunset ๐ŸŒ† is in 10 weeks, Winnie the Pooh Day ๐Ÿฏ is in 13 weeks, National Pie Day ๐Ÿฐ is in 3 months and 5 PM Sunset ๐ŸŒ† is in 14 weeks.

Morning

October 17, 2019 Night

Good evening! Rain and 46 degrees in Dormansville, NY. โ˜” Breezy, ๏ธ17 mph breeze from the west-northwest ๐ŸŒฌ with gusts up to 29 mph ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ. Definitely can hear the wind roar around the truck cap tonight. Moon ๐ŸŽ‘ is peaking out a bit through the clouds. The skies will clear tomorrow around noontime.

While the truck cap is warm ๐Ÿšš the wind really is loud ๐Ÿƒ tonight. I am far enough away from trees I’m not really wor about one coming down. ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒณ

It looks like they got snow โ›„ in the High Country of West Virginia last night. Not a lot but maybe it’s good I went there last week rather than this week. Parents are making out okay on the cruise but apparently it’s been choppy with the Nor ‘Easter with the waves ๐ŸŒŠ. Looks like nice weather for the rest of the week for them.

Starting battery ๐Ÿ”‹ voltage looked a bit low on my truck but it’s creeped back up and I’m not that worried as the accessory batteries will still be charged enough in the morning in case it needs an additional boost. It will be fine I’m sure.

That On the Farm video I posted earlier ๐Ÿฎ about wood chips livestock composting is kind of neat. Sucks that YouTube has banned videos of people working with and processing meat. I know Pennsylvania does a lot of road kill deer carcass composting. Composting certainly is better than just burial as you don’t loose the nutrients.

Tonight will have a chance of showers, mainly before 1am. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 42 degrees at 5am. Three degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 9th. Northwest wind around 17 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Going to be mild but wind ๐Ÿƒy make it feel cooler. All the rain we’ve had plus the wind has been tough on the leaves. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2018, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 31 degrees. The record low of 22 occurred back in 1978.

Tonight will have a Waning Gibbous Moon ๐ŸŒ– with 74% illuminated. The moon will set at 11:47 am. The Last Quarter Moon is on Sunday night with partly cloudy skies. The Beaver Moon ๐ŸŒ is on Monday, November 11th. The sun will rise at 7:11 am with the first light at 6:42 am, which is one minute and 10 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ Tonight will have 13 hours of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 46 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be partly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 51 degrees at 2pm. Eight degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around November 7th. Northwest wind around 16 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Despite the sun, going to be a chilly day with temperatures most of the day in the 40s with a stiff breeze. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 46 degrees. The record high of 84 was set in 2016. There was a dusting of snow in 2015.โ„

In four weeks on November 14 the sun will be setting at 4:34 pm (Standard Time),๐ŸŒ„ which is one hour, 36 minutes and 25 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2018 on that day, we had cold, partly cloudy, snow showers and temperatures between 33 and 22 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 49 and 32 degrees. The record high of 70 degrees was set back in 1973.

I have this rash on my face that looks like poison ivy. ๐ŸŒฟ Maybe I touched something out back. Not sure but I think it’s healing. Annoying though where it is.

Looking ahead, Halloween ๐Ÿ›ฅ๏ธ is in 2 weeks, Regular Deer Season in Southern Zone ๐ŸฆŒ is a month away, Thanksgiving ๐Ÿฆƒ is in 6 weeks, Repeal of Prohibition Day ๐Ÿบ is in 7 weeks, Boxing Day ๐ŸฅŠ is in 10 weeks and National Cheese Lovers Day ๐Ÿง€ is in 14 weeks.

 Maples

October 16, 2019 Night

Good evening! Rain and 51 degrees in Dormansville, NY. โ˜” Breezy, ๏ธ17 mph breeze from the northeast ๐ŸŒฌ with gusts up to 31 mph ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ. I can hear the rain on my truck cap but not the wind yet. The dew point is 49 degrees. The skies will clear Friday around 10 am.

I skipped the Pine Bush dinner because I was feeling under the weather. ๐Ÿ˜ซ I feel like I am getting a cold and my eye was irritated. Maybe the problem is the low air pressure due to the storm and the humidity. Or not sleeping well in the truck. At least it is going to be mild the next few days despite the driving rain tonight into tomorrow. If I feel sick, I’ll take tomorrow off from work.

I was feeling under the weather so while I was at my parents house watching the dog ๐Ÿถ I figure I’d watch some YouTube movies. Those old trucker songs are great including the ones I posted earlier tonight. Also did you see that video ๐Ÿ“น I posted earlier about that Adirondack sect? Odd but kind of neat.

Tonight will rain. The rain could be heavy at times. ๐ŸŒง Low of 45 degrees at 6am. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 4th. Breezy, with a northeast wind 17 to 25 mph becoming west after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 47 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible. Going to be a wet one. โ˜” Two inches of rain is a lot for a day in Albany, outside of extreme weather like a hurricane. ๐ŸŒ€ Bombogensis is a pretty significant weather pattern regardless. In 2018, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 39 degrees. The record low of 21 occurred back in 1940.

Tonight will have a Waning Gibbous Moon ๐ŸŒ– with 83% illuminated. The moon will set at 10:44 am. The Last Quarter Moon is on Sunday night. The Beaver Moon ๐ŸŒ is on Monday, November 11th. The sun will rise at 7:10 am with the first light at 6:41 am, which is one minute and 11 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ Tonight will have 12 hours and 58 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 47 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will rain, mainly before noon, then showers likely after noon. The rain could be heavy at times. ๐ŸŒง High of 47 degrees at 11am. Nine degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around November 10th. Breezy, with a west wind around 23 mph, with gusts as high as 44 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 57 degrees. The record high of 85 was set in 1947. There was a dusting of snow in 1970.โ„
