October 6, 2016 Afternoon

Good afternoon! Mostly sunny and 74 degrees in North Syracuse. Calm wind. The dew point is 52 degrees. Not a bad day, although nothing like that day in 1900 when it reached 90 degrees. That’s the latest it’s ever been recorded with a temperature above 90 through the end of the year. That said, we won’t be nearly that warm today.

Tonight will be mostly clear, with a low of 50 degrees at 6am. Seven degrees above normal. Southeast wind 3 to 5 mph. The record low of 27 occurred back in 1986.

Today in 1973,Β Egypt launches a coordinated attack with Syria against Israel leading to the Yom Kippur War. In response to the US backing Isreal, OPEC limits supply of oil to the United States and allies, leading to gas lines and massive increases in the price of oil.

There isΒ 1 week until Friday the 13th when the sun will be setting at 6:23 pm with dusk at 6:52 pm. The average high temperature is 61 degrees, with a record high of 81 in 1930.
